Kerry played a show with Pantera in 89 at Joe's Garage and he played rhythm guitar for a few songs, including the songs in this video. This is historic stuff! Thanks for sharing!
@Dado Valiente Funny enough and this is hard to believe but Kerry King is the teacher here, apparently it was Kerry that showed Dime how to make darker, more in your face riffs, this is one of the reasons their sound changed in the late 80s from glam to harder shit.

Cool video, I saw another video where Kerry receives a guitar given to him by Dime. The guitar was promised to him but it didn't get to Kerry until after Dimes death. I had never realized the two were friends until I watched many videos like these. Nice post. Oh and yeah guys, just enjoy the video. Dime was teaching Kerry something new... Kerry was learning it at a tremendous speed. It wasn't a battle of guitar gods... gimme a break lol. Just enjoy.
He was called Diamond up until Far Beyond Driven. Read the names on the inside of all their albums up through Vulgar Display of Power and it reads "Diamond Darrell".
One major skill that many musicians lack compared to the pros is ENDURANCE. It is one thing to be able to play a song or riff, but it is a whole other thing to perform them good enough live with no pauses or mistakes while being up to speed. Try to play almost any Slayer song without breaking a sweat, it's damn near impossible.
i think its silyy that we just cannot enjoy watchin two metal legends jammin together without anybody sayin " oh x is better than y" or " x is stupid and y is cool" also, u cannot compare each other, they play different styles of metal man....anyway, in this case, they r both really good!
2 Legendary bands. I think that Dimebag teaching King played a major role in how King played on Seasons. Seasons in the Abyss features some of King's best guitar work.
Dude it’s the complete other way round if weren’t for Kerry none of Pantera riffs would sound they way the do it was him and Phil that made dime like and use thrash metal techniques in their music they might of stayed a hair metal band if not for those two

I agree Its pretty normal for me. The 1st Slayer album I got for Christmas was the "Live Undead" picture disc (remember thoe's?) And the 1st song I heard was "The Final Command" I just remember playing Captor of Sin over and over. Ive heard alot of people complain about the Show No Mercy album having shitty production, and I never understood that. I still listen to all tose songs today.
Barrybuchanan and Caleb speak the truth... They both shred unbeleivably well. Dime might have had more feel in his play but Kerry's dark riffs are played insanely fast. Kerry is more like Zakk Wylde and Dime is well.. Dime is Dime there will never be another like him.
this is like watching the changing of the guard...a young Diamond Darrell (which was his stage name...he switched to Dimebag after he wanted more street cred...Diamond was a lil ..um..)playing with Kerry King, who at the time was THE metal god in 1989. Its wierd how Dime's hair got smaller and he got bigger later on....lol. I truly miss that guy and his playing... This is classic tho.
