Trey and Chuck are both gods for different reasons, in my eyes. Trey is probably the most creative/weird death metal guitarist who ever lived and Chuck was more emotive and melodic in terms of his playing. They're both death metal legends!

Whereas Chuck can paint a picture within the depths of the human mind and its intricacies, Trey can do the same but submitted to chaos. They are the Ying and Yang of Death Metal, both developed the art into new extremes.
I still think of him as one of the most creative guitarists I've ever heard. He actually digs in and goes to some strange dimension with his solos. Often solos from other guitarists put me to sleep, but he's one of the few where his rhythm, harmony and solo work is interesting across the board. I also like the fact he appreciates the occasional blended in single-coil for a bit of texture. I don't know anyone else who mixes chaos and control in such an interesting manner.
His creative mind is insane. On most of those earlier live performances his chapel of ghouls solo genuinely sounds like the conjuring of spirits and demons fighting with each other. His ability to create an image with his guitar is incredible and his off the wall techniques are unmatched.
One of the top 5 metal guitarists of our time. The Eddie Van Halen of death metal. I mean that in the best possible way. Nobody can touch his solos and he set a new standard with his riffs.. and his tone. Dimebag... Thordendal.... Shuldner... he's right up there with them.
Why compare Chuck and Trey? Schuldiner chose his to be ordered, rhythmic, perfect, and executed correctly like every album he made with Death, Trey on the other hand wanted to be the new Hendrix/Van Halen but in a more extreme genre. He decided to be psychedelic, creative, powerful, and have the speed and craziness like swing or bepop.

Invocation and I always loved the Angel of Disease solos on the album. Definitely not my favorite soloist but he has his own thing and that's no easy accomplishment..

Chuck innovated death metal, no doubt, but his songwriting and Death's overall quality is vastly overrated. Trey is arguably THE death metal god. Chuck had cool riffs but he could never string them together in the momentum-carrying and magical way Trey and Morbid did.

@@krisdahlin4386 Chuck a good songwriter? His songs are clunky and so disjointed it gives you musical blue balls. Composition > individual riffs (Trey has better riffs for my money anyways). Soloing is a minor part of the bigger picture. After Scream Bloody Gore, Death is mediocre at best.

It sounds like doing a bpm challenge with 80's techniques, both the guitar and the drum. The musicians seem limited by the music genre on the songs, should move up to 'core' bands or experimental bands.
Man, i mean i kinda respect Morbid Angel in a certain sense but they sound awful to my ears. I could never get over 2 songs by them in a row. That fucking blast beats and double bass by Pete Sandoval make me fueled by rage, that's fuck terrible. Then Trey Azagthoth (or whatever the hell it is written, i also hate art names so bad) comes in with a pure Kerry King style and adds crap to the already shit annoying sound. Honestly i can't get how somebody can compare this band to Death, probably i'll never understand that. 2 completely different genres.
