Suddenly I realized that this is the harsh reality of the society wether it's humans or animals... those who have some flaws are always side lined ...but the beauty of this video states......THERE IS HOPE.
What a heartbreaking but also beautiful video. Thank you to Namal's keeper for taking such good care of him! And thanks to BBC Earth for sharing Namal's story. Hang in there Namal, you are loved!
Welp, there goes my manliness again.truck loaf of tears.. It pains me to see how much this tragedy affected the you elephant. Good thing there are still people out there who cares.
What a wonderful job the good people are doing to try and put right the damage done to this lovely creature .Those who hunt , snare etc are wicked .How much proof do we need ? Hope a solution can be found for this lovely creature ..*
His prosthetic leg must be a really dependable one. Somehow it must be secured more reliably. We pray to God: "O God, please help this little baby throughout his entire life". His human friend is a very very good man. He will always help him.
Such a smart beautiful baby it means the world not only to him but to animal lovers all around the world this small kindness slowly builds are ability to have faith in humanity again thank you❤️
Have seen this elephant calf’s (Namal) video from early to now. should thank to Salinda and all the other kind people who can see in almost every elephant rescue videos. It is good trend that young people in Sri Lanka taking over animal care instead of older Mahouts who give suffering to elephant.
I'm so thankful to the caretakers for not putting him down, because he lost his leg and can't survive in the wild. Thank you for saving him and giving him a second chance at life x Wishing this little boy all the best!!!
His so cute!! I hope he has a long life. It's good to see they enjoy the company of each other. Good friend for the little elephant. South Australia ❤️👍
He’s being cared for at a place that rehabilitates elephants back to the wild. He’s considered too fragile to make it on his own in the wild, so he’s a permanent resident there.
Wonderfully uplifting and saddening in equal doses. What sort of evil *! leaves a snare for a baby elephant to be caught in? What amazing people who rescued him, but what happened to his mother? How often does he need a new prosthetic fitting and can they not design something that stays on?
Mark Harris Since the calf is still young and growing a permanent solution is yet impractical also anything firmer would also lead to stunted muscle mass around the particular leg :) or so I've been told.
Gaming Salts I fully realise that he couldn’t have either anything firmer and definitely nothing permanent, what I suggested was something that didn’t fall off as he was walking thus risking damage to his other 3 legs.
It’s obvious that a 3 legged animal of any species will not survive in the wild but other elephants have had the blessing of a good prosthetic. They have gone on to have wonderful lives in good sanctuaries. The young fella could do the same!

This is Sri Lanka, in udawalawa elephants transit home
*Feel really bad for the elephant, I wish him the best in life, and well done to the keeper for sticking around!*
So much so that you felt the need to bold literally everything that you just said.
Hope he gets a better prosthetic as he grows. Foundations such as this one deserve generous donations.

Geria Wright your words ..' reality confirming the evil ' are very much true ,and indeed on point ..to the present scenario of our changing world!
man i'm a pretty unemotional person but my heart came back to life after seeing how that baby elephant can't make friends with his own kind
True, it's freacking heartbreaking,
He is the ugliest baby elephant i have ever seen. He has so much more hair then even adult elephants. Whats wrong with it.
PantsB4Squares Nothing is wrong with him. Baby elephants are born with lots of hair. It will disappear as he gets older.
These animals are precious.and the people who protect, nurture, and nourish them are precious too.
the person who is taking care of the baby is doing a great work, truly inspiring !

That was very nice of that man to look after that poor little disabled Elephant, for it wouldn't had made it on its own.
