jim root responds reaction review
Corey Taylor has explained that the lyrics inspired by a period during which he was homeless, living under a bridge in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. "'Left Behind' is a song about a time of my life that was really hard - I was homeless ... it's funny how many people you meet when you're homeless ... you find out so much about them, and you rely on them so much, and then when things start happening for you, those faces disappear and they're gone," concluding that the song is "about leaving behind the lives that make up your past” and that my friend is what the song is about 👍🏻
Bro I live right next to Des Moines, pretty cool to hear that he used to live right next to me
Nailed it dude
@@snoopfrogg1975 most of Slipknot either lives somewhere in Des Moines or they still have homes here. Their families all live here. Joey's dad owns (owned?) A construction company here.
@@snoopfrogg1975 how cold is it in des moines
From what I heard, the song is indeed from people that slip away from you. Corey wrote this about the people he met, when he was homeless. He formed a strong bond with them on the street, but since he made the jump to a more stable life, he lost them. To a point where he doesn´t even know if they are still alive or dead.
I confirm this
I confirm this too
“From what I heard”
I believe the song is about both him being Homeless and his friends he made whilst homeless he didn’t see anymore while he got a more stable lifestyle.
Fun fact for you Alex: I don't know if you are aware but the dreads coming out of Corey's mask, is his actual hair. He used to have long hair and then, he shaved his head, turned his hair into dreadlocks and glued them on the mask :P
Also, a couple of suggestions:
-Korn: "Falling away from me", "Freak on a leash" or "A different world" (they sing this with Corey! :D )
-Rammstein: "Feuer frei" or "Ohne dich".
Whoever is reading this comment, thanks and have a great day :)
LoneGR it wasn’t his hair
I was told he pulled it out lol. I mean it sounds unlikely but I wouldnt doubt it.
@Josjua Cannon: Well, if you look it up, he has said it himself at an (old) interview :)
@hazard n9ne: Pulling it out would hurt like hell. I don't know who told you that but they were probably trying to freak you out or something :P
@@goose2323 it was for the first little while
I remember reading that interview, and i remember he also said that the original mask that had his hair coming out had started to melt during a show, which is why he shaved the hair off and attatched it to the mask you see here.
Bro, this track has a lot of meaning to me. My best friend and I were huge Slipknot fand growing up, still my favorite band but unfortunately he's not with us anymore. However, i still remember blasting Iowa with him on a regular basis, all the time..especially this track and the track Gently. Shit always gets me man. Makes me tear up just writing this. But for real Gently needs to be your next Slipknot track. The live version at Knotfest is amazing. Please, listen to that track
I'm sorry for your loss, brother
We're with you
Fuck bro. Rip
Chris C we will remember our fallen maggots
Hey man hes up there listening with you
It's important to remember that when Slipknot features something being buried or placed in the ground in a music video, it is usually a memory or person from their past. In this case it was Corey being homeless and how he lost communication with the people who helped him through it. PS. Check out Otep please! "Blood Pigs" is a good place to start.
Makes sense. The kid in the video does random small jobs and lives by himself alone in a dilapidated house and eats cereal with dirt water.
I love the Sevas Tra-era Otep
@@bigupliquidchilli8709 i love rise, rebel, resist from Otep it's sounds like Nero Forte
When Corey Taylor was 17 he was homeless and that’s why he made this song
Right on the money with that one bro
around that time he tried to kill himself
Was that the same time he met the guy who inspired eyeless? Just repeated "you can't see California without Marlon Brando's eyes" over and over like a madman.
WeirdyBeardy Stuff yeah
As a metal head I must say that I'm absolutely enjoying these videos. Its amazing to see how into it you get and actually take time to really understand the lyrics and the beauty behind some songs, a lot of respect for that man!
I also have a suggestion: Would be great to see what you think about King810. Songs like Alpha and Omega for something heavy, I aint going back again for something calmer or Devil don't cry for something really deep and emotional. They have amazing lyrics and I have a feeling you'll enjoy them.
Have a dope ass day and keep it up! \\m//
React to eyeless by slipknot on the self named album 👌🏼
You can’t see California without Marlon Brando’s eyes!

Taylor has explained that the lyrics inspired by a period during which he was homeless, living under a bridge in his hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. Speaking to VH1, he reminisced that "'Left Behind' is a song about a time of my life that was really hard - I was homeless ... it's funny how many people you meet when you're homeless ... you find out so much about them, and you rely on them so much, and then when things start happening for you, those faces disappear and they're gone," concluding that the song is "about leaving behind the lives that make up your past.
LAMB OF GOD- LAID TO REST
Ruin! The break down could potentially break his neck in epic head banging fashion.
🤘🤘
But the version live, that is more brutal
The best band actually
@Reg GiaWell, now sure. On Killadelphia, he was amazing live. The whole band was. No mud sounds or w.e at all.
This song is so important to me, i was 12/13 the early years of secondary school, being bullied a lot, back then a lot of nu-metal touched on bullying whether in the lyrics or in the music videos so i latched onto it immediately. I'm not going to say it transformed my life or anything, it just felt welcoming and i felt recognised, also the kid in the music video looks exactly like a friend i had at the time.
This and Clown by Korn are very important songs to me.
But fast forward to 2018, i'd love if you checked out Toska - Congress.
I feel you, bro. I was bullied every day at school when I was 14. Metal was the only thing that calmed down my depression and anxiety.
I was the kid in the video at 14/15
ALL TIME FAVORITE SLIPKNOT SONG!!
Lost my shit when they played this at a concert, lost my voice for 2 days!

Alex Bro come on man we love ya! I got 108 likes now. They all want to see it man
Tried to get him to do that ages ago. Nope, nada, just do Slipknot entire discography first...
@@stuartrose9866 yeah same, I've said all that remains on the last 10 of his reaction videos. Different songs though
I've tried for ATR and power metal. He will love ATR. Anything from Fall of Ideals and overcome (?) would be perfect.
@@stuartrose9866 I think for we are many is their best album
Classics of Metalcore.
Good musicians, awesome technical stuff and very cool chorus.
Right now I'm not very interested in the last albums but the early Metalcore/Melodic Death Metal wave was pure fire bruh.

Bullet For My Valentine - 4 Words ( To Choke Upon ) please react to this !!!
Another of my favorite Slipknot songs 🤘😁 Dope ass video man!
To say that Slipknot is my favorite band is an understatement. I have a leg dedicated to them with tattoos! They were the first heavy band I got into. To see your reactions to their music is everyone that gets into them!! Myself included! Thank you for this and for every one of your reactions to their songs!

Death - SPIRITUAL HEALING
ALEX!
I'm one of those crazy super fans with band logos inked all over my body, signed stuff all over my walls and travel the world to see my bands. I literally live for metal. Usually I have a hard time to watch reaction videos. Most often boring with the people reacting almost look like they more kind of act to get wievs.
But I really LOVE your videos. You're so real, so committed to actually find the beauty in this kind of music which I myself and so many others do. You're so genuine and really submit Your heart and honest feelings and opinions about on what you see and hear. So, keep posting Your videos. I just love em so much and you seem like such a DOPE ASS guy.
If you really wanna witness and hear something truly AMAZING, then do a video while watching "Fear Of The Dark" live from rock in Rio by Iron Maiden. That's some beautiful shit right there!
Have a dope ass day and keep doing what you do!
Best wishes and high dope ass five from Gothenburg Sweden!
One of my favourite, slipknot songs.
Was doing a project in my music class, and we had to pick a band/artist and pick a music video from the band/artist we were doing ...and show it to the class. Of course I did Slipknot, and picked this music video.
Fantastic reaction Bruh!!
You want proper Slipknot? Listen to Disasterpiece
This is proper slipknot too
People=shit is proper
All Slipknot is proper Slipknot! Iowa is my favorite of their albums though

One of the things I love about watching you Alex is this, to me you understand the artistry of metal. You listen beyond "the noise" and hear the meaning behind the screaming. Keep it up sir.
6:13 i had same reaction to metal few years ago
this is actually the song that ended up getting me into slipknot along with duality
for me it was the opposite, first i saw the Duality video, then i checked out more Slipknot, then i became a Maggot.
Been waiting on this one for too long 😭
I have no clue why this song hit me so hard. Such a long story for me. But it always reminds me of my best friends house in a good way. If I got locked out or in trouble or had to get away I could go to his house and jam some Slipknot on the TV. Only CD player we had lol. I became part of the family and that was awesome. Saved my life
Check out Maximum the Hormone . Awesome band
Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song /Valhalla Wacken 2016 🖤
Glad you did this song, it's my favorite Slipknot jam
Lol. I love you, Alex. As a rabid Slipknot fan since ST. Keep it going!
Nightwish - Storytime live Wacken
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score live Buenos Aires
Nightwish Romanticide live Wacken
Humm, I like the Ghost Love Score from Wacken Open Air better, tbh, but whichever would be amazing.

Heretic anthem by slipknkot live in London 2002
He reacted to the drum cam of that song in london already
Hell yeah
People = Shit Pledge of Alliance Tour 2001 - this is him on SO intense vocals. The whole tour he performed so AWESOME.
jay 99 He already did it! It was the drum cam version didn’t really do anything with the lyrics!!
jlm10181978 Mybe he can revisited the actual live performance to see what his reaction would be and see how his reaction would be with the lyrics as well
evisceration plague-cannibal corpse or try from skin to liquid, infinite misery,or relentless beating all by cannibal corpse the last three are instrumental
1st your reaction videos are dope AF 2nd this is always been my favorite Slipknot song
I am from Des Moines Iowa so I have been a fan since the beginning. I saw them several times when they were still local. This is by far the best album of there's. 🤘🤘🤘🤘👈
Easily their best song! Corey’s vocals on that album are disgusting! One of the best metal albums of the 2000’s, possibly of all time, in my opinion.
Eightminutesupsidedown I agree about the album bit this isnt their *best* song
Slipknot is one of my favourite bands, but this is probably my least favourite album of theirs. The song itself is quite good, but there are at least a dozen Slipknot songs I like better. My Plague is by far my favourite song from that album.
Eightminutesupsidedown People = Shit is my shit
I love Everything Ends. Also, Metabolic. And of course, I Am Hated.
You're here too? Cool! Yeah Man! Iowa is the Best!! My favorite album!
Finally 🙏🔥
Left Behind was the first Slipknot's song that I listened to. I heard it when I was around 14 or 15. Now I'm 38 n still love this song.

I think there's copyright issues with Rammstein songs, the band won't allow unliscenced parties to use their music. Alex has tried reacting to Rammstein before, but had to take the video down.

Yo Alex, recent subscriber here and I have to first say I quite enjoy your reactions to various songs. As much as I love Slipknot, it was through your reactions I discovered Jinjer and Unleash the Archers. I immediately fell in love with Unleash the archers and Brittney Slayes' voice! Anyway i must recommend reacting to more of Unleash the Archers Id give Tonight We Ride and Test your Metal a very strong recommendation. Tonight We Ride being the better of the 2 for her voice if you ask me. She shows just how much of a powerhouse she is in both songs. You won't regret it, trust me. Lol
