wmg iowa warner music group lost in vegas alex hefner
Corey has now got his technique at a place where he can protect and preserve his vocal chords but IOWA era growls are definitely my favourite.
I agree!
Same. Can you imagine what he would sound like if he kept that scream up? We'd assumed he'd swallowed glass shards.
Yep ive been watching vocal teachers talk about his range, and growls. But she mentioned because he uses his throat it takes its toll on the vocal chords. One guy said his physiology helps, he's one of these guys who was made to scream lol. Hes gone slighter deeper, but still that power and rang is amazing.
@Joe Figueroa wow you obviously have no idea about doing vocals or slipknots history. CT himself said his old technique was shit because he nearly ruined his voice forever.
Don't see any u haters out there night after night doin this so shut the fuck up talking shit bout CT vocals true maggots don't do that
Slipknot - London Arena 2002
One of the greatest concerts of all time
I agree, but some say Download Festival 2009 was better than this
Birmingham-NEC 2002 was better 🤘😜🤘
If you're 555 I'm 666 what's it like to be a heretic
Cost less than 40 quid.
Hell yeah 🤘
6:09 you can really see Corey's pain and anger 💔
2:17 that reaction is priceless
Alex: *Blinks* Come again?
Is he “dear lording” the music, lyrics or whole performance?😂
This song reminds me how much I miss Joey on drums. Jay is awesome but Joey was on another level.
They are just different
Totally
Jay is unreal on WANYK
🤣
Joey sounded pretty whack during his final run in Slipknot. His live performances sounded like he wasn't even trying anymore. He was playing the songs slower and changed things that made the songs sound less intense. It could possibly be because of his condition which lead to him having to be let go, but I'm just speculating. I think Jay is a great replacement, but I really don't like the sound of his drums live. Sounds pretty good in the studio tracks, but sound kinda weak live. As far as a technical level, neither of them are really all that. They're both great for what Slipknot calls for, but there are thousands of drummers who make them both sound like amateur's.
React to the audio album version for 'My Plague' tomorrow, not the official video. It's not the same track.
Favorite song on the album, despite my love for it as a whole. Hope he does!
Song always reminds me of the first Resident Evil movie
The music video version was for the movie, the track is altered which kinda blows
My plague in disasterpiece DVD is better
Love your channel and work Vapor Memory I'm glad you have such a diverse taste In music!
Slipknot at it's music peak tbh.
They aren't bad now, but, Iowa will never be outdone.
@Jessy Landry Vol.3 had like the least songs I enjoyed. I just wasn't into Corey's scream in that album. AHIG was pretty badass tbh I did enjoy that one A LOT. But Iowa is by far their best Album.
The entire disasterpiece's dvd and performance was the best they've ever done. The English crowds fucking rage too
Never ever
Nem Plays! Iowa and the first album were the best
Self titled to me, sells the whole “ a bunch of angry people plugging you into their world” better.
I really miss Corey's IOWA era scream. I know he had to change it in order to not destroy his vocal cords, but DAMN during Self Titled and IOWA he sounded so vicious. Those are still some of my all time favorite vocals. Now days he sounds like a super tamed version of this. He got SLIGHTLY better on WANYK, but his cadence is still kinda weak now. You can just tell that he isn't angry anymore.
Better for Corey slightly worse for the live shows but even now when most of them are reaching their 50s the energy is insane
Beacuse ik that my plauge is the next song in the album, pls dont react to the official video. Its soft version, react to the audio version way more havier!!
Yeah the official video is the radio friendly version used I'n the film resident evil. ALEX IF YOU SEE THIS DONT REACT TO OFFICIAL VIDEO
Agreed.
Like this so Alex sees it!
I really hope he reads these. The official version of My Plague is why a lot of people think Slipknot isn't "real metal"
I agree react to audio version not official video.
Alex's reaction when Corey started the 1st verse "Dear Lord!!!!!"
James Snow lol 😂 I was looking for this comment if I didn’t see it I was gonna write it
Lol that first line catches everyone off guard the first time
One of my friends was singing a Billie Elish or however you spell her name, and I go “I’d be judged if I sang some of the stuff I like in class” my other friend asked what I listened to, I showed her the lyrics to Disasterpiece, yeah she had a similar reaction lol, then I showed her Snuff to let her know they have hearts😂
@@jayceledet6756 💀
That shocked expression after the opening line XD
When i saw the thumbnail I knew that was what it was haha.
"I wanna slit your throat"
"Dear Lord!" Haha. Yeah that's bout the reaction I was expecting. Corey was pissed off in them Iowa days.
The next song is My Plague, but react to the audio, not the video, cause the audio version is way heavier.
Pls
real talk ^^ audio is better than the music video/radio cut.
Yes 100% the video version sucks
Should watch the one from Conan
I like the Profile Pic
Finally. Their best era. That show looks a madness!!!
Find the Disasterpieces DVD, or see if it's on here. It's that entire London show. It was insanity. Plus, you got Purity live.
@@BestBryFar isn't all of that on the 9.0 live album?
@@sandwichgames8122 No, 9.0 was different shows after Vol. 3. Disasterpieces was in 2002. It's also the live album added into Iowa's 10th anniversary at.
@@BestBryFar oh ok thanks👌🏻👌🏻
Ye bro i had the dvd a long time ago. Gutted i wasnt there
I was in the middle of that mayhem somewhere. Really sick live show, I was so battered and bruised after 🤘🤘
I was there too for my 19th birthday. Crazy crazy show. Spit it out was insane!!!
I was there too, it was so fucking awesome 🤟🤘
“Battered and Bruised” needs to be a song title
When it comes to their first two albums, you actually should hear the studio version before the live one. They always change the songs up live, plus it's hard for any audio equipment to capture these guys (9 different instruments, and 2 to 3 different background vocals behind Coreys) live🔥
Edit: Basically, unless you're actually there, you'll never know what these guys sound like live.
You definitely made the right choice doing the live version, it's amazing!
this is the one that was on 9.0 best sk album by far
I kinda wanted him to react to download 2009 but this was amazing too
Yeah this whole show is one of my favourites of all time.
Glad you reacted to the live version! The entire Disasterpieces DVD is one of the best concerts of all time.
Its THE best show of all time
Its THE best show ever
This is actually the version of disasterpiece I grew up with lol. I didnt have the Iowa album or a way to get it but a friend had this song I downloafed
@The Anti Christ no it's called fat fingers
i gave a thumbs up bc there is nothing to add to your comment
2:23 "Dear Lord" 😂😂😂 idk why I'm laughing so hard
I hear "dude lower")) But maybe I'm wrong because English's not my native, so...
I literally cant stop laughing
HIS FACE
2:15 = happy alex
2:18 =, concerned alex
people = shit
“Those drums though, it’s f***in’ awesome!” Got that right! RIP Joey Jordison, you will never be forgotten!
"If you hear bubbling in the background, it's my rice cooking"
Riiiiiight...
Nah man. Hes way too reasonable of a guy to risk that while hes in the middle of studying for the BAR.
HuntersReject97 you gotta do what you gotta do
@@DatScreamyBean also he was clearly on the screen when he said that and hes alone so that's all it could be
I dont get it...
@@mirkecWii Just a lil' bong joke that someone is taking too seriously :P
Listen to the album version of "My Plague", it's the best version.
nameless too
sydIRISH Or just give him another live version of My Plague from 2002.
@@NWOWCW4Life1 Album version is still better.
@@phonkave2993 True, although the "9.0" version isn't terrible.
Listen to the Reading 2002 version it's almost identical to the album version
and remember that this video has been recorded 17 years ago. they are getting older..
Nope. That's not allowed.
19 now
Copy so Alex sees this: REACT TO THE AUDIO OF “MY PLAGUE” TOMORROW BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE SAME TRACK!
The drum cam of this live version is awesome too if you fancy some double bass by the lord Joey
I'm already looking forward to Iowa, such an amazing track...
I could never appreciate that song growing up because of the patience within the track. It's all about atmosphere and I never really gave it a chance. Then, the other day when I was driving in the middle of nowhere. I put the song on and really seeped into it. It was almost a surreal experience and now I really love it.
Iowa is my favorite slipknot song. Probably because it's their darkest song from that album.
Just recently started to seriously appreciate Iowa as a track, never really ticked me, but good god that shit is fucking dark. Found an actual 23 min live version earlier tonight from 2016 otherworldly stuff
I wish Alex would react to the Corey Taylor live in London acoustic concert! Corey singing SpongeBob is just hilarious!
Corey Taylor doing an acoustic set? Really?
by LOCAL 2016, yes
This DVD was literally the first time I heard Slipknot, back in like 2004 when a buddy showed it to me. Ever since, I haven't been able to find a radio that goes high enough to justify playing this shit... pure bliss. Glad you enjoyed it. The whole album is just pure gasoline.
This concert was legendary. Just watch the whole disasterpieces dvd. 100% worth it.
Probably the most extreme/intense song ever written and especially this live version, to capture this level of intensity is rare, very rare! Wow
4:10
That’s bc he used to completly destroy his voice when he «screamed»
Legendary performances have a cost. Corey gave this to us.
People back then didn't know how to scream correctly
Their best live show. that song crushes SO hard! absolutely amazing!
for me the best one is download 2009
Live version is always great to watch and listen to.
Agreed
In my opinion maybe the greatest song they've ever recorded...
Metabolic for me
Definitely my favorite song of theirs!! As well as Skin Ticket 🤟🏼
Mine aswell
The Disasterpiece DVD might be my favorite live DVD of all time. Crazy good and quality is amazing. Thanks for the vids man. Their fun to watch!
I feel like Unsainted is the closest to his Iowa screams that he's done in a long time. Not as heavy but close.
You mean since AHIG? AHIG is even closer, check gematria and psychosocial.
THESE are the glory days of the Knot! Love the raw anger, the unsolicited passionfull(?) rage in music form. 🤘 Peace bro!
P.S Bury Tomorrow - BLACK FLAME
Music will never get this greatness ever again. Man! i miss the original slipknot so much. i always find myself coming back to this video. I miss you Joey.
R.I.P JOEY 😭😭😭🥁🥁🥁
React to CUSTER (LIVE)- SLIPKNOT
YESS
Finally, a person with the same idea.
Hell yeah! The live version is the BEST ONE!!!!!!
You finally reacted to this song. Definitely one of my favs
This song and performance right here is probably the exact pinnacle of slipknot for me. It doesn’t get better than this.
Love this old Slipknot! Joey is such an awesome drummer. You should do Epica - Unleashed when you have time again. Keep it up my man!
I've been waiting for this reaction since the beginning of your videos
I feel like unsainted is heavy but not Iowa heavy, but what I think is it will be the “my plague” of We Are Not Your Kind”
ALSO ALEX DONT WATCH THE ORIGINAL VIDEO FOR MY PLAGUE WHICH IS THE NEXT SONG! LISTEN TO THE AUDIO VERSION
That is Exactly how I saw Unsainted from the new album.
Corey Taylor said in an interview that Unsainted is one of the softer songs on the new album, so hopes up for a heavy album ^^
I figured. Their albums usually have 1 or 2 soft songs and then the rest are just everything you can ever hope for
I feel like Unsainted was more like a Left Behind-y song
Evil Toad eh, I can see where you hear that
love this guys energy! rock on \m/
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I mean.
Corey's voice is gone because of all that screaming that he did for years.
Same example imo -> M Shadow from Avenged Sevenfold
Shadows can still scream, he just chooses not to. 😣
@@schwann145 He can? Or isn't he allowed to since his operation accourd. Imma be honest i thought that was his current scream but in no comparison with the LBC concert for example
its more about the technique rather than screaming. for example randy blythe has still amazing vocals
I never got this line of reasoning. If done right, one can scream for decades without hurting themselves.
He still can scream but he was really inspired by european power metal so he choosed not to scream that much after there debut/demo album (idk which one it was)
Corey actually cut himself before a lot of the screams in this album to make it more painful sounding
I love the video you are an awesome guy it has been an honour following this channel and hearing about your studying hope it all goes well for you I suffer with depression so you give me hope
Hey Alex, This song goes out to my school
Thank you for keeping me in check during this COVID-19 stuff much love and respect

BTW RIP Paul Gray #2 Bass Guitarist
I cant wait for u to hear ‘Gently’
I looove Gently! Nothing gentle about that song...😂...haha stupid joke, but true..lol
I can't wait until you get to I am Hated!
Yeah! This is one of the best Slipknot songs!
I've noticed from your first reaction video for slipknot and this you exept it something I thought impossible. I'm proud as a metal head I'm proud
Awesome reaction dude!!. Nice thing you pointed outbout Corey's voice tho.
You should keep reacting to this live videos from Slipknot they're craaazy.
Alex: "Gotta turn this all the way up"
Every maggot ever: OF COURSE!!
Love this whole album. Can't wait for "Everything Ends". That song got me through my messy divorce. Lost my voice many many times screaming along. What a release
Somehow... I didnt loose it. I literally nearly scream like Iowa Corey without hurting my voice. Is that a talent?Well i use technique but i dont get how the heck its so brutal
Edit:, Its basically a fry scream
Alex internally curls up on the floor and starts crying at 2:30
Oh man! I rarely comment on UA-cam but that was the absolute best reaction as soon as Corey started singing lmao. Love your stuff keep it up! 🇦🇷
Nothing More - This Is The Time(Ballast) or Jenny.
definitely "My Plague" audio version. one of the best songs to relieve any stress you have.. ever
Good shit, yah! Thanks for going thru this while getting that Bar Exam study on! Dedication! Why I REALLY enjoy this channel, your energy is fuckin HIGH!
In my time of school I lreally enjoyed hip hop staff, but time passed and I began to listen to nu metal through Linkin Park. Finally I found Slip Knot, Mudvayne and others similars. Today I don't listen to Hip Hop that much, but I still like it a bit when it's really well done. Today I enjoy more rock songs, but in general, I love all kind of generes since it is done well, as I said before. I think when you give a time to pay attention to song and you expand you perception toward each instrument in particular, listening to the drums, the guitar, the bass etc you can have an amazingly and rich musical experience. Now a days I listen to a lot of generes (classic rock, nu metal, hip hop, classical music, pop etc) and I heavely appreciat each one.
Corey's voice is so raw... and he definitely has more in his lungs than now!!
Still phenomenal live though! \m/
He got old dude. Thats what happens.. but yes IOWA was the sickest version of corey..
@@jeromesimon8916 yes! Def. The best of Corey's vocals.
he cant go that high anymore thats the sad part
@@ThaVipaa guess that what's happens when you have 20 odd years of being brutal.
Tbf, I think he is definately a better singer now. Can definately still do it!
@@themasqueradingcow91 yeah i agree that he has gotten better with his cleans
Your reaction is masterpiece. I will subscribe. Slipknot 4life
I love how you do research before reacting and the way you convey your thoughts about the music. Keep it up 👍
Exactly man!! #1 I love how your a metalhead now and esp how much you appreciate slipknot....but your absolutely right with what you said about his screams now vs then. He is still a phenomenal vocalist but the pure rawness, hatred, and brutality in his voice/screams from the self titled and Iowa albums has faded sadly ;( I miss it so much
And ya, there is no way this new album will be as heavy as Iowa haha, I can’t friggin wait and they can say that all they want....but it won’t be
Please make sure you react to the album versions of my plague and the title track iowa
Corey's voice back then was insane.
Finally!!! Ur going to get to my favorite Iowa album song and my requested song next!!! 🤘🤘
Cant go wrong with some classic slipknot . I've been to one of their concerts and Corey demands that energy back from the crowd but it was amazing I hope u do see them live. Corey has taken care of his voice after all these years man
Please after this album check out Fit For a King " the price of agony" you'll love it. Also "Backbreaker" has an amazing scream at the end
Backbreaker🤘🤘
3:10 LOOK AT MY IPHONE THE APPS ARE DIFFICULT
This was the very first song I heard from slipknot. To this day it is still #1 to me. Awesome reaction Alex
This song is so heavy and exhilarating

Slipknots music just grabs your soul and makes you listen that is why i love them!

@The Anti Christ One million thumbs up brother!
@The Anti Christ Jesse is the man for sure... I've seen him perform live so many times with KsE, Times of Grace and The Empire Shall Fall and no other vocalist sings with such raw power and passion, he truly moves me every time!
Fun fact: My friend was the drummer in one of Jesse's earlier bands, Nothing Stays Gold. They used to rehearse in my friend's basement back in the 90's. I have all the tracks for Nothing Stays Gold as well as his band Corrin on my channel if you are interested.
Ready for My Plague. This was my first Slipknot song.
For me that transitioning slow groove at 6:37 is the most beautiful thing i listened in the history of 🎵🎶 metal.... Gives me goosebumps when the pace is controlled by headbangs and swings .. I listened to it over and over.....🙏😎👍🏼
I'm loving this album reaction so far!!
I was there buddy. Incredible night. The most amazing live show I’ve ever seen.
Rip Joey Jordison... Always the #1.
Corey's voice at this stage was the best ... even this album is God..and this particular concert I personally think is the best I've ever seen
All songs from this live show are epic! I hope you will do some more from this live show!
I totally agree with the fact that Coreys vocals aren’t the same now I mean still good but I wish we had more of this
This was before it was cool to like slipknot. Some of us used them to get us through whatever we felt we had going on.
Bro I first started watching your channel a little after you started reacting to rock music. Seeing you grow a taste and appreciation for metal and rock music in general has and is a joy to watch. With that said I know if you would react to blessthefall (namely guys like you make us look bad) you would instantly love this band as well cause really aren't we all about that maggot life.
Alex. I just cant do other reaction videos. You do metal alot of resoect. Love ya 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
The thing about Iowa is that they were all young, broke and pissed off and drugs were becoming (more) involved at that time. There's a darkness on that album that you can't just recreate. Which is probably a good thing for the guys in the band, really.
Also, one of the best first lines of any song ever.
Plz React to Fit For A King Dead Memory it features Jake Luhrs from August Burns Red such a good song
My favorite reaction of yours because you understand that early in your metal journey you might not have appreciated this song but you can now. Exactly.
My favorite tune from Slipknot, so damn visceral! Glad to see such appreciation for it's intensity and brutality. I too was looking forward to the new stuff when they said "IOWA heavy", but given the environment this song was written in - it's absolutely impossible to replicate or mirror even by Slipknot without them going down that road again. Such an amazing work of art that entire live show was!
