What a brilliant mind. And such calm presence and eloquence. He smiled at complex situations and was able to make fun of them with very objective observations and through understanding. He was full of charm and he was so humble! In comparison the reporter looked like someone who was over eager but with a shallow understanding and a habitual rude demeanour. Even when he was conversing with a great mind, and one can see that he has great respect to this man, his body language was still aggressive and almost without respect.

In short, while the growth of China is inevitable, US remain the main force in the world that can counter balance China, that is, keep attracting the best talents from the whole world and keep on developing to be ahead, while event may turn out differently, this interview is all about balance the big forces at opposite continents. He imposed tariff on Washing machine etc from China which has no IP theft or forced tech transfer! on washing machine! that's why China brought the case to WTO and WTO sided wtih China for China to retaliate back on USA. There are cases where China has IP theft and forced tech transfer, but Trump is not interested in enforcing those and Obama did brought the case to WTO and WTO sided Obama to impose tariff on those goods like tires. WTO 'forced' China to follow the rules, but Trump undermines WTO and China is the one upholding WTO. funny twist. Trump is doing the wrong thing for the right reason.

Why are Western nations so eager to pit India and China against each other? Can't there be a possibility that both can cooperate like how EU and US does? I do not want my country to be someone else's pawn in containing the rise of Chinese. India is growing at its own pace and China is at its own. India can do things a lot better but like Mr. Lee said, India is at an inherent disadvantage of not being a homogeneous culture like China. India will deal with this problem in its own way. Give both of them space to grow.
Also, *Democracy is not inherently better*. The current Chinese government system works for China but it will not in India. Democracy works in India because it is the only way for India to keep different cultures happy and remain united as a nation. Democracy may not be ideal for China because China can grow faster on a more authoritarian government that can take decisions faster and easier. Different cultures...different government. Its not a difficult concept to grasp people!

Well said ! What I am thinking is the western culture never has concept of harmony or this concept takes no place in their political life. I don't know if it's because of his Buddhist background. The message within his speech always carries a strong sense of humanitarianism that is beyond any materialistic and national level. He is a truly wholesome human being that everyone from all over the world should look up to.

What a brilliant mind. And such calm presence and eloquence. He smiled at complex situations and was able to make fun of them with very objective observations and through understanding. He was full of charm and he was so humble!
In comparison the reporter looked like someone who was over eager but with a shallow understanding and a habitual rude demeanour. Even when he was conversing with a great mind, and one can see that he has great respect to this man, his body language was still aggressive and almost without respect.
Charlie kept over talked him, too much Anglo anger. What’s with his conduct to the guest! I wanna hear the thoughts from the guest, not him over talked. Charlie came came back to the topic of China 5x, intimidating much? Lee isn’t a rep. for China, ask about Singapore.
I came here to watch the interview because of what's happening in Afghanistan. The one and only.
In short, while the growth of China is inevitable, US remain the main force in the world that can counter balance China, that is, keep attracting the best talents from the whole world and keep on developing to be ahead, while event may turn out differently, this interview is all about balance the big forces at opposite continents. Any wrong move from US , like attracting the wrong level of people by uncontrol open door policy, is not just about the politics within, but catastrophic result of the world.
By the way, Lee and Charlie had known each other for decades, this is not a game of intelligence showdown, but rather an envoy carry important message to the west. Donald trump is doing the right thing on both immigrants and the deficits.
I think president Trump should watch this.
