2:42 China GDP will compete with the US (however, per capita will still be much smaller)
4:00 First half of 21st century, the US will need to share with China and India
    7:10 Saving habit anecdote
9:33 China will take ~100 years before they reach the level of affluence in the US per capita
11:26 Infrastructure projects .....China now have the largest high speed rail in the WORLD!!!!! which was virtually non-existent in 2000
13:16 Communication, urbanisation, flow of information will need to change
16:30 Iran sanctions happened (it happened until DRUMP tore this apart!) ....TRUE
19:14 Russia (Putin came back as President) ....TRUE
21:11 Japan (is opening up to immigrations....still much more to be done.)... ...TRUE
23:30 Overseas Chinese (How to attract talent?) ......Children's education in China vs US
25:50 Europe ==> Can't get together ....BREXIT happened in 2021
26:40 Singapore ==> Need to keep on changing and keep relevant ....refuse to choose sides between US, China, India, Europe etc

34:29 Afghan: Creating a country is a distraction! ...... The US have spent 4Trillions in wars....imagine if these were invested in the US to improve education and the well being of the US residents?
37:00 US should be a benigh power ....... don't make other people (eg middle east, africa etc) your problems...you can't solve all the problems in the world
39:30 Deng Xiao Ping sent 30-40 thousand political leaders to singapore in 1978 to replicate Singapore success China. DXP recognised that the old communist system didn't work and decided to change direction to what it is today
43:30 Obama ==> 21st will be the contest in the pacific .....Fiscal & Dollars (there's a risk which is happening today eg Iran, Europe came up with another way to avoid trade sanctions by the DRUMP cronies, China is creating a Digital Yuan, other government are all testing digital currencies)

Nehru knew his brand of socialism was not working by early 1960s. He did not have the vision or humility to say i screwed up and adopt market economy. It would be another 30 years and a balance of payment crisis for India to change its course towards market economy.

    Around 11:40
Why are Western nations so eager to pit India and China against each other? Can't there be a possibility that both can cooperate like how EU and US does? I do not want my country to be someone else's pawn in containing the rise of Chinese. India is growing at its own pace and China is at its own. India can do things a lot better but like Mr. Lee said, India is at an inherent disadvantage of not being a homogeneous culture like China. India will deal with this problem in its own way. Give both of them space to grow.
Also, *Democracy is not inherently better*. The current Chinese government system works for China but it will not in India. Democracy works in India because it is the only way for India to keep different cultures happy and remain united as a nation. Democracy may not be ideal for China because China can grow faster on a more authoritarian government that can take decisions faster and easier. Different cultures...different government. Its not a difficult concept to grasp people!

There will always be competition between India and China. Many of the industries and markets are overlapping. Also the China is tying up with Pakistan so India is wary of China as well.

I don't know if it's because of his Buddhist background. The message within his speech always carries a strong sense of humanitarianism that is beyond any materialistic and national level. He is a truly wholesome human being that everyone from all over the world should look up to.

He should be thankful LKY agreed to appear and give him an invaluable lesson on world affairs. Unfortunately now we see many country leader is leading like a shipping company rather than country . Lost of humanity , commercially benefit . Hope there is more talented people with good intention to lead a country . There is no permanent of life , but to see, look ,listen , learn and analyse from the past noble leader. What a brilliant mind. And such calm presence and eloquence. He smiled at complex situations and was able to make fun of them with very objective observations and through understanding. He was full of charm and he was so humble!
In comparison the reporter looked like someone who was over eager but with a shallow understanding and a habitual rude demeanour. Even when he was conversing with a great mind, and one can see that he has great respect to this man, his body language was still aggressive and almost without respect.

In short, while the growth of China is inevitable, US remain the main force in the world that can counter balance China, that is, keep attracting the best talents from the whole world and keep on developing to be ahead, while event may turn out differently, this interview is all about balance the big forces at opposite continents. Any wrong move from US , like attracting the wrong level of people by uncontrol open door policy, is not just about the politics within, but catastrophic result of the world.
By the way, Lee and Charlie had known each other for decades, this is not a game of intelligence showdown, but rather an envoy carry important message to the west. Donald trump is doing the right thing on both immigrants and the deficits.
