  • Finally get the XR200 back in the woods for its first official shakedown after replacing the bent valve and freshening up the top end while I had it apart. This bike runs awesome as you will see in the footage. Some really good drone shots provided by my friend Ken that really give a cool perspective riding through the trails. Hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed riding :-)

Ive had a ton of XR's over the yrs ,but recently bought a 96 XR200. I have too say I reckon it is the most "Fun" model I have owned . It Is not about how fast you go or how high can I jump, can I beat my mates . Just being out there mucking around on the bike is what it's all about these days for me. You looked like you were having lots of fun too. Well done.

Thank you! You are dead on…this bike might be the sweet spot for the ultimate play bike that can still go pretty much anywhere.

Great to see the wee xr out a blast ,some steep slopes there but handled them easily , light bikes always easier to play in the dirt with .And just enough power .! You have done a great job with it well done .👍😁

Thank you Wattie! It’s a perfect size for a play bike that can haul an adult around pretty much anywhere at the same time. I’ll soon be getting back to wrenching on the next project! Just have to decide what bike to do next.

It’s one of the most fun bikes for just messing around in the woods and is super comfortable at the same time

Awesome, thanks for watching! Those 200s are some of the best all around woods bikes ever made in my opinion. I used to have an 87 model with the long travel suspension and lights…and that thing was such a perfect tight woods bike. I even did a couple harescrambles on that thing and it did really well. I always look for another one.

@@Garage2Trail Very cool. I am about to redo my top end and Cylinder jug with an oversized Wiseco piston and ring set. I got a new Mikuni carb already jetted for the setup and the new head , valves springs and Higher cams. The new head cast also eliminated the decompression cable altogether. I'll be using your video to do the work myself. Thank you for explaining everything so clearly.

Put a high compression bigbore piston and midrange webcam in the 200 ,makes ahuge improvement . Well worth it . I did that and put it in a 1981 kx125 frame . It was a hoot .power was amazing difference over stock .

That’s cool, I’ll have to think about it for a future XR200 that I find. This one I sold a while ago. A friend of mine is working on putting an XR200 motor into a 82 CR125 frame.

Just did a top end on my 96. My 13 year old loves it also. My gears are not shifting as smooth as I would like but I guess that will be for another time. I have the gas filled rear shock and it is passed its best. I dont mind rebuilding shocks and would like to convert to oil if i can. Great video.

My drone would have 100% crashed when going through those tree branches. What model do you have?

To be honest I don’t know what my buddy was using but his is the kind you control via a VR style headset. So basically he sits somewhere in the woods wearing the VR visor looking thing and a joystick in hand and is flying it first person view to follow me around lol. I’ll try and find out for you though.
