Hey, interesting to hear abit about the American school holiday system from a german standpoint, here the holydays start on different start on the same day in a state but offset from state to state, so that the whole country doesn't get flooded at the same time with kids and parents who are driving to their holiday destination. My dad is also a bus driver, the system here is a bit more thought out even smaller towns have bus connection, but the ac problem consists here to, some old busses don't have ac installed, the newer ones mostly have ac's. Good luck to you though sir, I hope it doesn't get too hot when you're working, that heat always takes a hit on everyone.
