Based on how long the reprint takes, I see this drying up for a minute and prices go back up.

Love the video. If I may suggest maybe have some more tabs open or other data up as it's a bit boring to stare at the same screen for 10 minutes. Appreciate the info though!

I definitely overpaid for my first "base" etb at my local hobby shop..and. I'm okay with that. I'm planning on buying a etb display case and keeping it sealed for years ... I'm hoping prismatic evolution becomes a iconic watermark in Pokemon history. The 89 ken Griffey of Pokemon

Reporting in from the Dallas Card Show on Saturday, as an attendee. I have been to many Dallas shows and this was by far the biggest presence of Pokémon cards I have ever seen. I didn't see any Prismatic Evolutions available, but other sealed product and singles were out in full force.
On a TCG tangent, I am somewhat surprised I am not seeing more Magic out there. At the Dallas show I saw one dealer that had a few collector's boxes, and maybe 2-3 dealers that had any Magic sinlges. Compared to Pokemon it was non-existent. Which makes me slightly unsure internally, because generally I think Magic collector's boxes are a better play than Pokemon sealed, just because it seems like it has a much higher ceiling and is much more limited (for collector's boxes anyway). I still think the Pokemon Center Prismatic ETBs are a good thing to target due to how much more limited they are, but these regular ETBs, it just seems like there is kind of a soft cap that people are not going to go over for them.

Magic has tried and failed to get a collector base as big as Pokemon's. The problem they had was they intended it to be a game that was meant to be played. They succeeded in that aspect but they did not invest and branched out their IP because they were happy in their walled garden. Little did they know that Pokemon is now well engrained in almost every demographic that has a collecting gene. They invested heavily in their brand and created games, shows, movies and merch to become a household name. Almost every kid in the western world has probably has an encounter with Pokemon and it's characters in some form or another. They created the experience that has translated well into the TCG. The TCG itself has created a ecosystem that has never lost its hunger to consume product. Combine almost 30 years of this plus the never ending chase which leads to ripping product, then you have one of the biggest TCG market ever established.
The brand has also been carefully curated that the experience that the "vintage" folks had in the 90's and 2000's can be replicated with what Pokemon has to offer today. Meanwhile Magic had to resort to every tactic possible and had to license IP's to stay relevant in their own space. It took successful IP's like LOTR, Fallout and other IP's to help boost the interest in their game. Meanwhile Pokemon has just let loose their artists (started with SWSH) to create one of the best subsets we've ever seen in the hobby which are the illustration Rares. Pokemon is experiencing the Artist Comic boom of the 90's and it's doing it in a scale that we have never seen.

Mtg needs to continue these crossovers with other established IPs. The big ones need to be a continual partnership and not just a one and done phase release. The Marvel one should help, but it needs to be more than just one special drop phase and that’s it. It needs to go on for at least 5 years. All the big IP needs to get 1-2 product a year and not just disappear after one big drop.

Until the supply is significant prices will not go down significantly. Until you can go into a retail outlet and see stuff on the shelf regularly prices will go up AND singles will spike because less will be ripped.

Hot potato. Sellers figured out what most people will pay for these. Can't wait for the reprint so I can't master the set. Just be patient people.

When the Eevee and friends party runs out of steam, and it will, there are going to be a lot of very sad people left holding the bag. Do you want to know how many of these ultra modern cards are being printed? It's in the billions (yes, that's a fact). At some point, the sellers will outnumber the buyers, and when that happens, the floor is going to fall out from under this nonsense. No way and Pokémon cards being printed in 2025 have any chance of bring either scarce or rare. It's all very well coordinated marketing that's motivating people to spend, period. When the marketing stops and moves on to the next hot new thing, the flush for this bubble will begin. No one is going ot be screaming on UA-cam to buy this cardboard, there won't be any fights over it in warehouse clubs, and PSA will have graded 10's of thousands of even the most difficult cards to pull, rendering the supply massive and prices will tank. Demand is only temporary at these levels, remember that.
