The Sports Card hobby will never die as long as there is thousands and millions of dedicated collectors like us! And Card shows like this is the proof of this! Thanks for sharing!
This hobby would not die, it has been through ages, but if cards depreciate due to e.g. bad economy or whatever, people would likely hesitate and it would slow down the entire business.
The hobby is dying. It's the same guys over and over. Everyone is just trying to make a buck no one is collecting to enjoy the cards. Casuals are being priced out. It's definitely dying, nowhere near covid type shit
@@hudsonlyons1550brother you are only seeing what is being shown on a camera. There is countless others that buy just to collect. If anything there was more flipping being done during Covid. Just an opinion
First time I had ever been to a big show like that. Man, it was crazy packed. Like you, I went on Saturday as well. Actually passed by you in the walkway there in front. Thought of saying hi, but you were talking with someone. Didn't want to break in.
I got back into the hobby about a year ago and I went nuts on 🏈 cards and learned buying wax is not the best way to go. I now buy singles of the players I want rather that hope and pray I rip them out of packs. I like to buy the college 🏈 Bowman U stuff because it’s a fun rip and love the cards.
Sure, there are tons of people at the shows. I’m not sure that’s what people mean when they say it’s “dead” but more so the fact that if you’re not “UA-cam famous” or willing to spend thousands and thousands of dollars, there really is hardly any room at all to make money unless you buy in extreme volume or get lucky with a player that spikes in price. More and more often people are buying cards, holding them for months, and selling them for what they paid (like one of the first guys in this video) I love the hobby and I love the experiences it has brought to me and the relationships it has allowed me to form, but at this point, for any “normal” hobby guy, it really isn’t something you can make money off of at an elite clip like the people who make these videos. It’s more for the elite creators and the ones with massive bank roll. Love the videos.
I think I went to the wrong room because I was there Saturday at the Dallas card show but the room it was in looked way different is there more than 1 area?
Everyone is a reseller (for the most part) these days...very few true collectors. I sell a ton of vintage type items in my very large booth at an antique mall. I'm guessing 90+% of my sales are to other dealers...! Everyone is looking for that quick flip
He owns are card shop...this is all new inventory for his shop. Of course he doesn't just buy 1 sport...he's going to buy anything that will sell in his shop, doesn't matter what it is...all about the bottom line.
My son is turning 10 in a few weeks. He’s asking to start collecting football and baseball. His little brother wants to start on WWE. I’ve been doing research and it seems like the collector aspect from when I was a kid is gone. Now it’s just middle aged guys paying prices no one else can compete with as investments.
I wonder how many people go to the card show for the auto guest . The auto guest have got bigger since Covid and I wonder how much that adds to the crowd I wish Dallas would share paid admission numbers . I went to shows at the peak and was there Saturday. Saturday didn’t feel any less busy than the peak I think the cold weather helps it too Prices might be down, but people that sit behind a keyboard and make these statements about the hobby dying just have their head buried in the sand
Man I have thousands of cards, sets from 1975 and in, 1950s cards, junk wax, tons of stuff. I want to sell bulk. If anyone is interested let me know. And when I say a lot. Lots
Great guy and great content, but it is extremely unrealistic to get deals like that . Unless you have a reputation , or a UA-cam account , nobody is giving deals like that. Every show that I go to , nobody wants to sell anything.
Love the videos Ryan. Keep it up. Congrats to OSU on the big championship game last night. It was for Jack B. Sawyer. I saw that Jack Sawyer on Ohio state put Jack B. Sawyers name on his arm for the game and I absolutely love that. How was the game experience overall for you though?

I need that DT. Big broncos and DT fan
Dallas in March I’ll be there
2:03 thats so awkward, why people throwing stuff around man
Dude felt like he got scammed. But no reason to act like a child
it happenes😂
Agreed, that was very odd.
I wouldn’t be shaking his hand, he can move on
Maybe he is just tired, standing for several hours and dealing with tons of people and he forgot he was being filmed.
The way that dude tossed the card 😂
Then wiped his nose and immediately shook his hand. The disrespect. 💀
I know, right? I'm not sure what I would think in that situation
No kidding. Deal would be dead if I was there
What a piece of trash. I would never buy anything from a jerk like that.
@@switchblade_jimpeople act different on camera, not used to it. It’s not a big deal.
First guy didn’t have to throw the card at him 🤦♂️
but its provocative!
Thank you for including the images of the cards on the screen that you’re picking up, it makes watching these so much better.
Agreed.

My homie at 4:41! I always love to make some deals with him in Denver.
Respect to Ryan for keeping his composure when that dude childishly tossed the card at him.
Every hobby/collectibles has their up and downs, cards, sneakers, comics, toys they all are down but maybe one day will be up again

Covid card market wasn’t healthy or sustainable
Disagree
One big circle passing the same cards around to he be sold on repeat. No one buys to keep, just to flip.

I love how you say $500 cards are "nothing crazy." So relatable and humble. I love it.
He’s a business owner…..”nothing crazy” probably accurately reflects what $500 is against what he moves in a week.
Saw lots of 50 cent cards in one touches marked at $5 when I was there
Wow that WWE booklet.. holy crap!
I know I'm bidding against myself! 11:47
Hobby isn't dead you are right but way way overstated with to many parallel cards. This is the junk wax era whether people want to believe it or not.
Off topic but the way your hair rests on the back of your head is ridiculous brotha 2:17
😭
What is the value of the Jayden Daniel’s now? Haha
Ungraded one sold couple days ago for 3k lol so yea
Oh yea he cooked on these Jayden Daniels lolll
@@_ColeJackson_ was $2,222 best offer but yeah Ryan killed it on the Jayden Daniels

@3:20 GARY!!! makes another appearance! One of the best guys in the business.
My guy made a massive W play on Jayden Daniels /8 😳 Can Jayden do it again? Rookie year Super Bowl appearance? 📈
