Wait, so you're telling me right away that I should act based on data, not emotion and that I should use critical thinking instead of blindly following people who try to predict the future? Who is this guy, acting like it's still in the 2000's? It's 2020 baby, I wanna make some quick money, go home and watch Netflix.
At exactly the moment when he said "I know you guys are eating your frozen tacos and pizza rolls" I was pulling pizza rolls out of the oven. Creepy Rudy looking in my windows.
Rudy without the pink visor - just some Random guy working a game shop goofing off on UA-cam... With the pink visor... Just some random crazy guy goofing off on UA-cam that gets all the taco...
Ei there Rudy! Greetings from Argentina! I started to watch your content for Magic, but since you started this pink visor assets analisis they are my most spected videos from your channel! Keep it up,these type of knowledge should be taught in schools. Keep that taco fresh my friend!💪🙌
that was an awesome video! Once again Ruby clears up what the Ivory Goldfish snow eating Tower has in mind........ I think the snow was yellow before they ate it.... Thanks Old Friend : )
Flavour wise tho Land cards are how planewalkers (us,the player) TAP into mana so they can do cool stuff. Land is very important investment wise and for the story.
Modern Horizons not only suffers the issue of a large reprint but also Pioneer's birth. None of the cards from the set are playable in Pioneer and some buyers in the market feel somewhat betrayed by WOTC who released that product knowing they would launch a new product that would compete with it
Plus, Hogaak, a mythic, is banned. And Urza is only still legal because they sacrificed opal to keep from banned two mythics from the set. Urza is easily bannable.
And the pitch cycle, which is supposed to be a huge draw because it essentially brings Force of Will to modern, is kinda meh on average. Sure, Force of Negation is great, but it's not your go-to counter, even in modern. And in legacy, it's just Forces 5 and 6.
Having watched it, my take away was that a lot of it hinges on the initial supply / set reprint. So wouldn't it just make sense to wait a few months after release to buy stuff on Ebay on the cheap, and base your decisions on how the initial release and perceptions were, rather than preordering or getting the product early?
It is important to sell certain products at the beginning of a set because the prices are still high. People don't yet know what cards will really take off, and it always has a few hyped cards. These can be sold well, and later they flatten out. If you miss this point, you have a regular market, but no more high-flyers because the market has settled.
So I wasn’t paying close attention but I think Rudy is telling me to buy lands. So it is now my intention to corner the market on foil swamps from TBD.
But the thing about modern horizons is the cards. There are so many good playable cards in that set. Wizards purposefully redefined modern with that set. The land cycle, wrenn and six, the blue v and green forces, plague engineer, urza, pyromancer, coatl, collector ouphe, it goes on and on. These cards will go up in value over time, therefore I can't see how mh1 boxes could be a bad pick up
@Lassi Kinnunen I see what you mean. But as long as they're not still printing it and the demand remains it should go up. Right now people thinking it's a good pick up doesn't magically cause more of them to be in print. Edit: so what you mean is, people thinking it was a good pickup caused more of it to be printed, which makes it a bad pickup. That' makes sense to me. Also, I looked at the graphs of some of the cards I listed. I see that many have tended down and seem to be flattening out now. And box price has been flat the whole time. Not what this means but I'm agreeing that maybe it is a mediocre pickup based on this. However once the cards start gradual upward trends, doesn't that also cause the box price to go up? I realize the gamblers premium is also involved.
Long hard pgyrexian gordita chalupa supreme with cheese and fries??? I dont know if thats right, but your video series like this is great and these videos change the way I think about everything every day.
It might destroy the sliver acronym, but I like to look at the uniqueness of the the sets as well. That could be everything from theme, to new abilities or creature-types, or even just being the first box in a new set type.
It's good that some sets take a little longer than others to gain in value than others, because that allows you to have both short term profit and long term profit. Basically having short term investments and long term investments. And it seems that the SLIVER method that he uses will help you determine what set will be either a short term investment or a long term investment.
Hey Rudmaster, very interesting video i must say the scientific method you showcased here is awesome, real MTG economy 101 for everyone. As i was watching the modern horizons part an interesting tought came to my head, Wizards overprinted the set because it was flying off the shelves and by doing so they pocketed a lot of money for themselves, but as you showcase here collectors and resellers will get hurt on modern horizons and probably lose money, which in the end is NEGATIVE for Wizards because they want their player base to be happy and economy stable. Its really about short term thinking and weighing out the IMMIDIATE proffit vs the long term LATENT effects. Kudos from Croatia
Rudy, new MTG card collector here (love the channel btw learning a lot) can you tell me a little more about how you come to your intrinsic value? Thanks!
Honestly the land and the variance carries a lot of these sets in the long term. TBD will shrivel up like the lettuce on a 1 week taco where throne and modern will trickle up over time. But what do I know other than I remember when Chalupas were a dollar a piece at taco bell.
hey. This probably wont be seen but can you do this with a set where expectation are like this G B (GB?) B G (GB?) B B (GB?) G means Good expectation B means Bed expectation GB? means i would like to know how the set ended up. Thank you
very useful for people who like visuals, but i think if you want to simplify it even further you can just say invest in reserve list boxes or psa 10 cards
Your the man Rudy, keep it up! So I have a question, I am in no way a expert so if it seems that of a silly question I apologize. It seems to me the first thing that needs to be accomplished when the 'sliver" formula clicks and you can grasp the concept he is speaking of would be to try and locate as close to possible the amount of boxes per set that are going to be printed/shipped. How would a person go about locating the information about the print run, and the amount of product shipping? A follow up is if this info is not easily accessible How would I go about narrowing it down to a somewhat accurate number to fill in the SUPPLY part of the equation? Also I very much enjoy your content, and look forward to the future learning from you has been a life changing experience, and look forward to the video's to come. Thank you, Looking forward to a reply.
I think the expectation square can be broken into further subsections. Magic has way way way too many formats, and each format wants something different from a set. I think it is VERY important to see if whether or not the set caters to Commander players. Commander is quickly becoming one of, if not the biggest format played in general. Strong commander cards = good aging.
Ok, I am at the, collectors universe message board. Can anyone help me get to, Rudy's, old posts talking about, S.L.I.V.E.R. ? Rudy, can you do another video about this? I am eating up as much of your videos on topics like this as I can. 🌮
Wait, so you're telling me right away that I should act based on data, not emotion and that I should use critical thinking instead of blindly following people who try to predict the future? Get you mtg stocks, an lgs and get day trading young man!
That's me. It's gotta be quick money, or I can't pay attention long enough. Do you have any idea how fast the feeds scroll on my phone?

Rudy, we've told you before! You can't have your Sliver out in front of the kids!
Anyone else love it when Ruby rambles in crazy finance terms at warp speed?? Just me?
He has a nice voice
he's the finance rapper
these are all normal investing terms, nothing special he is saying lol.
Rudy is the first teacher I've ever paid attention to and learned something useful from.
At exactly the moment when he said "I know you guys are eating your frozen tacos and pizza rolls" I was pulling pizza rolls out of the oven. Creepy Rudy looking in my windows.

6:10 "This is going to be a very meaty video"
Like putting a rated R tag 30 minutes into Showgirls.
Take risks where you're an expert, hedge everything else. The most important thing I took from auditing.
Ruby, these long-form finance videos are my favorite. Please do more.

Rudy watching your Pink Visor Videos gives me Major EV...
Giddy!!
Subconscious at work when Rudy picked Modern Horizons: Slivers!😉
Making my rounds through old videos lol the financial videos are always super interesting 👍
that was an awesome video! Once again Ruby clears up what the Ivory Goldfish snow eating Tower has in mind........ I think the snow was yellow before they ate it.... Thanks Old Friend : )
This is a legit Ted talk...Or tedx. He needs to be on a stage, same visor, same whiteboard.
I would love to see a video like this for each set that is released.
11:42 Rudy drawing the question mark sign the wrong way from the bottom upREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
6:07 Painful swallow. That triple taco with extra sauce from earlier is taking its toll now.
Well played Sir on the Modern Horizons expectation signs. I saw what you did there :) Keeping my cases for the long shot!
"Make sure you're having fun!" Cheers Rudy!
Rudy, these are my absolute favorite videos that you make. Followed closely by Russian Rudy.
Jokes on you, I have no intrest in magic or background and finance and I still found the video intresting!
I’m just happy the video is exactly 32 minutes long
Lands are def important, I remember when I bought dual lands for a tenner 💃
Love the pink visor videos. Keep them coming.
I actually love this video, thoroughly enjoyed it... Not just for magic reference but just for standard finance
Thanks, Rudy. I feel like I learned something today, as I do every day I watch your videos. It's not Wednesday but I'll sure slap a taco for ya.

Great video rudy. I totally agree about throne. Though thr magic market atm makes me generally uncomfortable im general
I love this in-depth, deep dive info. I can actually relate to it more than the superficial info.
Having watched it, my take away was that a lot of it hinges on the initial supply / set reprint. rudy put on a rainbow umbrella hat , do it for the 90's
So I wasn’t paying close attention but I think Rudy is telling me to buy lands. So it is now my intention to corner the market on foil swamps from TBD.
Good luck, they printed millions of them.
Law of large numbers.
The hard phyrexian gordita chalupa supreme nacho is a classic.
Huge fan of the Illuminati boxes, well played Uncle Rudy!
But the thing about modern horizons is the cards. There are so many good playable cards in that set. Wizards purposefully redefined modern with that set. there's a ton of good cards in the set. it's the print amount that scares people. I think it will slowly tick up.
@Lassi Kinnunen I see what you mean. But as long as they're not still printing it and the demand remains it should go up. Right now people thinking it's a good pick up doesn't magically cause more of them to be in print.

So that makes Rudy the evil Sliver Investment Lord.
Love the tech terms, reminds me of when I was on the trading floor of the LSE ;)
Math never lies... Thanks Rudy!
This science is so clear, AND totally explains the Wizards of the coast tactics. M.I.B.
Long hard pgyrexian gordita chalupa supreme with cheese and fries??? I dont know if thats right, but your video series like this is great and these videos change the way I think about everything every day.
The chirps in this video are some of my all time favs.
I absolutely loved this video! Keep them coming !
thank you Rudy for this kind of videos!
Your left handedness and the way you do your question marks from bottom to top freaks me out 😂😜
That playstation shirt confirms it: Rudy has that old PS1 startup noise playing as background music in his head as he hoses Timmys.
The years of free financial advice you have given to this community has been invaluable and has not gone unnoticed. Wish you the best
Pink hat Rudy is only Rudy I watch 😊
Cold, soggy tacos, breakfast of champions!
Also, thanks for hearing me yell Modern Horizons at my monitor.
Great video this was a very interesting way of quantifying the analysis and thought process of a product. Seriously thank you for sharing this with us
Great video rudy I'm going to try this method even tho I get only like one or two boxes but this will help to sell the boxes in the future
He said he except ecstasy 3 years it’ll be 300 here it is 2022 5 listings sold on eBay 270. Spot on man.
Rudy has to be one of the most advanced mtg investors in the history of the game. legendary
It might destroy the sliver acronym, but I like to look at the uniqueness of the the sets as well.
That could be everything from theme, to new abilities or creature-types, or even just being the first box in a new set type.
These are my favorite videos. I use this knowledge towards my business and it has nothing to do with gaming lol.
Rudy’s class room 👨🏻🏫👩🏻🎓👨🏼🎓
I feel like he could do a whole series with one video dedicated to each letter and this serving as the introduction.

So Rudy officially has the most sturdy sliver huh
You draw your question marks from the bottom up?? That explains EVERYTHING!
Rudy, new MTG card collector here (love the channel btw learning a lot) can you tell me a little more about how you come to your intrinsic value? Thanks!

Rudy. Hi. Nice video. When you talked about ELD, I suppose you meant normal booster boxes. How would the SLIVER method apply to Collector ELD Boxes?
Love these investor vids!
Very interesting video in the current 2021 collectible culture
lol, remeber young Rudy giving the ABU printrun stats back in 2005... 15 years ago!
I'm going to try to learn 😅 I appreciate it.
YAY a pink visor video!
Great informative video keep up the awesome vids
hey. This probably wont be seen but
can you do this with a set where expectation are like this
G B (GB?)
B G (GB?)
B B (GB?)
G means Good expectation
B means Bed expectation
GB? means i would like to know how the set ended up.
Thank you
very useful for people who like visuals, but i think if you want to simplify it even further you can just say invest in reserve list boxes or psa 10 cards
This is unfair we should be allowed to use emotions for investments, the heart is the strongest muscle.
we all know what Rudy's strongest muscle is, ggiddy.
I thought the strongest muscle was the tongue ?
Some people make question marks bottom up??? ...Didn't know I was in store for a mind F when I clicked on this vid.
I opened the absolute worst box of throne today. ugh.
Your the man Rudy, keep it up!

Awesome video!
I would love to hear more about your opinion on Variance. I consider myself to be a lucky person- so if variance is in Theros is high, I’ll buy more
I think the expectation square can be broken into further subsections. Magic has way way way too many formats, and each format wants something different from a set. Watching this on mute, it appears what Ruby is saying is sell your liver for $. Sounds like solid investment advice.
was wondering how i can get my hands on some liver dollars
