    Lol what you fail to understand is that everyone who is selling Prismatic sealed product above MSRP IS A SCALPER. The correct market price IS MSRP! Until pokemon stops making this set and sends it to the secondary market Then market conditions take over. But as long as this Retail product is still being produced FOR RETAIL PRICE, no one should pay over retail to the scalpers. Just because there are 4 idiots behind me willing to pay $100 for an etb, doesn't mean I should suffer for it. Stick to the major retailers, they will get more product and they will sell it for the correct price.

      @@portalmasterry6765 there will be some forced liquidations to make room for new sets. that is for sure. i think the pokemon market is quite small compared to other investment markets. if we keep seeing a large influx of buyers not unlike a shitcoin pump then we could see a whole new level of pricing. memecoins pump more in a day that what the entire pokemon market is worth ie trumpcoin. the other constraint that the retail market discounts is how heavily big institutional players are in this market. they have deep pockets and incentive to buy up every reprint possible. 100K prismatic etbs is only 5 million retail msrp. not that much money in the grand scheme of things. it doesnt take much to move this market, all you have to do is corner supply because distro stinks. 4 shelves of prodcut at the local walmart and target isn't enough to curb prices. there is only 1 walmart per 75k americans on average. they need truckloads for sale in the parking lots to do real damage at the retail level lol

    If this set doesn’t hit a reasonable value and I don’t find it in person at msrp, then screw it. I just won’t have it. My hobby is collecting cards, not blowing my money over fomo. Same with journey, the rocket set, and so on. If PCI continues to fail at properly supplying their product to consumers through the official market, then I won’t be a collector anymore. Oh well. Enjoy paying $150 per new etb in perpetuity or some parasocial relationship with a whatnot streamer that opens all your packs for you.

  • @EeveelutionaryTree196

    You can literally see the chart saying number sold in the background. It spiked after the first drop and then went down again. You can assume that a decent chunk of the buyers are other scalpers and investors.
    If there is no demand for product on the secondary market unless it hits MSRP, scalpers cannot make a profit. Saying "decreasing demand won't help you with the issue of supply and demand" is like saying "drinking water won't change the fact that you're thirsty and hungry."'
    I know you said that for every 1 person saying no, there are 3-4 people saying yes. But I think the majority of the yes-men are other scalpers and only a small minority of the rest are people planning on opening the product. Also, thinking that it's going to take as long for TPC to reprint PRE as SSP is a stretch. They're likely going full force on that specific set right now - not to mention that there will be other products closer to MSRP between now and the release of the reprint, which also slows down the prices because there is more supply.
    I agree that the set might not reach MSRP, but it'll definitely get close. Assuming they reprint ETBs, we'll at least see them drop down to around $70 a box. Might be a short time window depending on the amount of product. This set is definitely getting the CZ treatment of multiple reprints throughout the years and it will definitely keep growing between the reprints and leave the shelves really quickly. But having multiple restocks and reprints while refusing to buy off of the secondary market will undoubtedly keep the prices low and force the scalpers to leave the scene.
    The take is not bad, regardless of its effectiveness or how it relates to the graph. They are not misunderstanding supply and demand. They're trying to regulate the demand until the supply is increased.

  • @DerethAC
    @DerethAC 10 днів тому

    Completely agree that Prismatic is going to hold its value really well before starting to climb. I see a lot of people assuming that the reprint is going to flood the market, but I don't see that happening at all. The fact that there was a frenzy for the product even before it was released makes it different than how the price of other sets have behaved in the past. There are still tons of people who have yet to find any to rip, so anything that hits the shelves if going to be absorbed immediately as if a reprint didn't even happen.

      You are underestimating how much TPC prints when there's a boom like this.
      Heard of Shining Fates, Pokemon GO, and Vivid Voltage?
      Also, would you say the same for Journey Together and Surging Sparks? 'Cause Journey went crazier and SSP did it first this time around.
      By the way, I'm not saying the set will be MSRP or below for 4 years. I'm simply saying the set will be abundant for a time, so everyone who wants to crack open some boxes get to at a decent price. And once scalpers who think the set is dead as a result see that, they'll drop their prices immediately and beg people to buy from them to recuperate their losses.

    • @DerethAC
      @DerethAC 9 днів тому

      @@EeveelutionaryTree196 Maybe so, but then maybe not. Like I said, there are still a lot of people who have been anticipating this set's release who still have yet to find any to open. I believe that the market will quickly absorb anything that gets released for quite some time before there's any chance of it becoming "abundant" on store shelves at MSRP. IMO the secondary market will never get to MSRP.

    • @PikasMarket
      @PikasMarket 9 днів тому

      @ the market already decides the price. this isnt price control like rents or or commodities...efficient markets set the price if you do a fundamental analysis of expected value then you know that the prismatic packs would be worth TWICE the retail price of 5 bucks a pack. you need to open a thousand to see real stability but the money talks.

    When you see these collecting dust on the shelves at WAWA, start panicking. I said it before and I will say it again, there is zero scarcity here. The Pokémon Company has to print millions and millions of these ETBs to make its numbers. The smart money is always moving, and this drop in price isn't over with by a long shot. Rather than chase something you can buy in every big box store, look back a few years to things like Celebrations, and grab a few of those chase cards in a PSA 10, while they are still way too cheap. Look at the price of the Shining Magikarp in a PSA 10 from that set..... just in the past month. Now they are selling on EBAY like nuts. There are only 4,448 of those in a PSA 10. Maybe two or three are graded each week now. Do you want something almost no one else has, that is one of the coolest cards ever printed or a box everyone has in the millions, with way more on the way. Scarcity matters a lot. ⚖

      @portalmasterry6765 Watch. You will see truckload after truckload hit retail, for months to come. The Pokemon company is going to make so much of this, it will be stocked on shelves everywhere. The scalpers and those who bought way too much of this thinking they were making out like bandits are going to start dumping some of those stock too, creating a glut of supply at the same time demand falls off sharply. It's called holding the 🛍️. Maybe in a few years this will come back up, but that's a terrible way to make money with so many better choices both inside the Pokemon TCG and elsewhere. Think 💬
