    Boolean was greyed out for me after selecting, what i thought was just two objects. Very very frustrating. your simple reference to the bottom, indicating how many objects were selected (which i had never used or noticed existed), showed that i actually had three objects selected, the third being an unintended duplicate of one of the shapes. was able to removed and bang, it worked. thanks so much for this!!!!

      Glad it was helpful. I have lttle gems like that in a lot of my videos. Tips that don't deal so much with a particular design, but the functionality of the software. Like the tip I showed on saving favorite fonts in my last video, Making the Best Frame Ever even Better. It is a short video and not many care to want to see how to use variable text. But those that jump around or simply don't watch, miss out on a neat function. Be sure to subscribe and hit that notifications bell so you don't miss a thing.

    All your Videos are great ones, this is the best explanation of these features I have seen even videos from lightburn 😁🛫

    Excellent video! I had an epiphany watching this video concerning the boolean function in lightburn. I had traced an image that contained lettering and I couldn't figure out how to keep the centers of the letters from falling out when I cut the image out. I heard you say that most boolean functions only work with two objects.. A light came on in my head.. All the traced lettering were individual curves.. As soon as I grouped them together adding pieces to keep the centers in became child's play. Oh and the part about nodes was enlightening too! Thanks!

    Terrific explanation. I have been struggling with making a variety of boxes with French cleats for a pantry storage system fir my wife. boxes py has all the components but they aren't linked in a way that is efficient. I do a box and then add the cleat in LB. Lots of manipulation that doesn't seem to be consistant. Thanks for the explanation to ease my strokr level.

      Boxes.py is not that Lightburn friendly. My new favorite box generator is www.gravini.cz/en/

    HAH! Thanks! I was wondering why the Boolean symbol would go dark for me only sometimes!! I am only half way through your video so you may give more examples to use it. I have used weld a couple of times ok. Ok, I'm craving Dunkin Donuts breakfast..

    Question... Do you know of a way to perform boolean operations on closed objects created with the draw lines tools?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  Рік тому

      As long as they are closed. You are only working with two objects. It should work fine. When you convert the primative shapes to paths, you make them equivalent line drawn objects. If it's not working for you, you are working with more than two objects, or they aren't actually closed. The quickest way to be sure they are closed is to create a 0 offset and delete the original images.

    Can you use the Boolean tools on images? Because i can't seem to get it to work. I have a shape and an image

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  11 місяців тому +1

      Boolean tools are for working with paths. An image is not made-up paths. It's a bunch of pixels. So, no. Cannot use Boolean tools with images.

    I did something with nodes last year. Can't remember. smoothing? Curves?? Not sure why they are important. Can you explain why a laser needs nodes? Thanks.

      In this video I show how nodes can cause problems and also why you need them. ua-cam.com/video/-B2FHBRJmu8/v-deo.html
