They told me I had stage 4 cancer in January. I fought it full sail, but I wrote letters to a few to read if I didn’t make it. I had an instruction for my wake, too: this song would play at some point, and I wanted every person there to put their arms around each other’s shoulders and would have lyrics if they wanted to sing along. I would bring everyone together for those couple of minutes. I would have probably made it to May or June…
Here I sit in September, writing this comment out and enjoying the version of this I’ve been looking for, with the actual vocals and the game’s instruments. Drop the sails and cart up the rum, lads, I’m in remission 💪🏼

My Advanced Guitar class teacher is having me and my class play this song because he's a huge Sea of Thieves fan. I've never played this game but this is easily the most beautiful song I've heard. Like, I want it at my funeral.

That's a very popular and understandable sentiment. A beautiful song. From what I understand, the lyrics were composed in honor of one of the Developers of this game who died three years ago (I believe) to cancer.
In the game there's quite a nice little memorial for him (his name was James but he went by the alias glitterbeard) where this song can be played. It can only be played if you have made peace with at least one other pirate crew.
