Dam!..my dad had just freshened the mtr in my moms 68 malibu..his nephew hopped in..started car backed out of shop to pull around to give car to my mom..someone who had the shop before us had cut off a 6" pipe that was cemented 4' into ground..left about 2" above ground..small pothole forms over time beside pipe..he was idling thru the yard right tire falls into hole..suspension dipped enough for that pipe to catch crossmember..cuz got thrown forward and floored it;back tires hooked on caliche?..car looked as if it had been picked up and dropped across something..almost folded itself in half..popped doors open..he folded steering wheel around column..car was totaled..wish i still had pictures..40 years ago and i still remember the puzzled look on his face when he got out.

I watched Mike's video on Sunday from this race. And he never said anything about hitting something. Now his video is in two parts so maybe in the next one he will say something about it.?

It was more than just a steering link. He also broke a leaf spring a shackle and a spindle. More than just a quick fix.
