Militracks 2022 Nashorn sdkfz 164 accident

- At the militracks event 2022 we had a breakdown, a prop shaft broke and so we needed a tow back to the parking area so we could fix it. When being towed the vehicle struck a tree and the final drive got ripped off completely. The damage was to bit to repair that weekend so we could not drive the Nashorn anymore unfortunately. But the repairs are already on the way and we will see you next year at militracks.

Sad to see the Nashorn damaged but luckily not as bad as it could have been.

So sad to see . But in a way it looks like it's been damaged in action with all the crew getting to grips with a recovery in progress

Poor Nashorn is in the wars again! At least we get to buy more T-shirts and watch more interesting videos while he’s made better (again)

This is good training for the Dutch Army. In combat, vehicles Will need to be towed! But it's heartbreaking, a Fire, bad Tracks and now a Tree. Disaster #3 and hopefully the last!!!

A little simulated battle damage should be good for authenticity. Not so pristine looking.

just a suggestion, maybe some of the overloon stuff can get training from the british tank museum on proper towing?
they look quite well experienced in this area

Kanniewachten tot de nieuwe aandrijfas(sen) erin gaan.
Of eerst de remtrommels, want daar is wat mee?
Het verbaasde me wel dat het aandrijfsprocket afbrak door de boom. Je zou denken dat een dergelijk voertuig daar toch tegen zou moeten kunnen?
Remmen is niks mis mee maar omdat een aandrijfas kapot was werkt dat in een diff niet meer. Als je gesleept wordt door een 62 ton zwaar voertuig dan komt er wel wat kracht vrij. samen 82 ton. staat niet ff snel still. wel met een meter maar dan ben je dus al voorbij de boom.
Erg jammer. Is het geen idee om het spatbord zo te laten? Dit soort schade zie je ook op oude foto's uit WO2, en wij modelbouwers doen soms ontzettend veel moeite om dit na te bootsen op op onze schaalmodellen.
Ik hoop dat de Nashorn snel weer rijd! Succes!

The ones we bend at militracks we are going to try to straighten since the new ones got a lot more expensive at 135€ each. We do have a set of three and a half that we cannot repair but also cannot separate. these will be 250€. Let me know what you prefer?

Very interesting! I was on Militracks on Sunday, so unfortunatly i didn't see the Nashorn in running condition, but the damaged version was still very interesting in its own way. I might be interested in buying one of the damaged links.

Personally I would call a Priest and have an exorcism performed on this vehicle. Fires, final drive smash ups, track problems etc. It would have had an easier time fighting in the East.

I have never seen the sideways traverse of the gun.

I spent almost the complete day watching your videos and I saved this one for the end of my binge watching for today. I'm so sorry that this happened to you and the Nashorn! After all the work and money you put into it you're left with even more work and costs.
I have one question: The three huge holes in the bulkhead between the engine and the driver's compartment were open when you showed them. Now they appear to be closed, probably except the lower one where the drive shaft comes in for the transmission. How did you close these holes? Are there hatches? I would think so, because they seem to be the only access to the engine, but I have no idea what they might look like. Did you show them in one of your videos? I'm not on Facebook, so I can't look there. Thank you in advance for your answer.
Yes there are three hatches that close those holes. I believe there is something in a video but not entirely sure. If you send me an email i can send a picture

@@jackofalltrades164 Great! I'll mail you after the handball match. No need to hurry. I just started making drawings of the bulkhead. It's missing in the kit, so I'll have to build from scratch as well as the transmission and the driver compartment.
Oh this sucks. I had no idea there was an accident. On the MasterMilo channel I had seen the drive had broken but didn't know there was a major accident. Maybe the Nashorn is cursed....

ik ga eind deze maand een aantal originele WO II-tracks ophalen. Heb je interesse in een van die voor 85€? Degenen die we buigen bij militracks gaan we proberen recht te trekken, omdat de nieuwe veel duurder zijn geworden voor 135 € per stuk. We hebben een set van drieënhalf die we niet kunnen repareren, maar ook niet uit elkaar kunnen halen. deze zullen 250€ zijn. Laat je me weten wat je voorkeur heeft?
