For me, my drain tube for my water tap was just at a bad angle. When I took the drain tube out of my drain pipe, the air gap did not leak. So after adjusting the angle of my tube, I found a position where it drains well. Thanks for this video!
Thank you for saving me $65 plus tax and shipping for a new faucet replacement that wouldn't have worked! My drain was plugged up bad. Took it apart and thoroughly cleaned it out and now it works perfectly. I had this installed in the summer of 2010 and never thought this kind of issues would pop up.

This is a very helpfull video. My air faucet is leaking because of the red line that connects to the drainage is blocked by dirts. After watched this video, I cleaned the connects and the faucet is not leaking now.
I don't have a narrow pipe cleaner, so I stuffed a straw up the drain line and black gunk was all inside it. Did it several times, then used an old toothbrush. Also took apart the saddle doo-dad and cleaned that out. Thank you!
An even quicker fix is blasting the blockage into the drain using compressed air. The needle tip fits right in the hole, and blows the blockage right down the drain.
Seems like a terrible design. I have this AO Smith RO system in the house we just moved into and it is designed just like yours and is having this exact problem. I have installed other RO systems that do not run the drain line into the drinking line faucet. Everyone I’ve ever installed had a single line running to the faucet. Also I cannot find any data on the AO Smith as to gallons wasted to to gallons cleaned but I suspect it’s probable in the 4 wasted to 1 cleaned, just from past experience. I prefer 1 to 1 systems where they don’t waste so much water. All that said, so glad I found your video, just disgusted with this system, multiple troubles.
I just swapped in a new RO faucet and after I already had the old one out I realized that the air gap hole on the faucet was 100% plugged. I'm sure that was my problem as my problem resulted in just about a tablespoon of water leaking out. But, I have a brand new one in now.
What type of faucet is being used? I have a filter with the three hose (red,blue,white)and it broke but they seem to be connected without an attachment.

Note: We have double sink and our r.o. line drains into the line opposite the dishwasher.
Hi John, you will want to clear the actual sink drain out (the p trap and snake the actual drain). If your dishwasher is causing water to come out the air gap, that means the main sink drain is being restricted and you're getting back pressure which is following the path of least resistance right up and out the RO airgap. This in turn forces little food particles, etc. up into the RO airgap and causes it to clog more frequently. If you don't have a drain snake or aren't familiar with clearing out drains, then it would probably be better to get a plumber to take care do this for you. Thanks for your question!

Some have rebuild kits depending on the brand of faucet. I've personally never rebuilt one. Usually we just replace them because a new one is inexpensive and looks nicer than the old one.
+mlim82480 You sure can. The 3/8" line is just what fits the barbs that come off of most reverse osmosis faucets and fits the drain saddle that most systems come with. If you're savvy and have some way to tie it in, you can make that line however large you want.
