- The wonderful joy, enthusiasm and powerful energy from all of these young musicians and singers truly blows me away.
To think that fifty years later I was able to perform with teenagers and create such a unique experience…
Ever grateful to Paul Green for helping them all to realize their true potential as young musicians and singers… bravo!! To everyone!!
Thanks Brian Bricklin for the recording and mixing and to Michael Smerconish for the video… and Mick Byrne for adding his magic!
Love and light. Jon 🙏
As tears flow out of my eyes I am amazed at what I just watched, Jon looks like he’s in heaven out front of Paul Green’s unbelievable School of Rockers, watching that “baby-faced “ Steve Howe play guitar 👏👏🙏 I was waiting for Chris Squire to come walking out on that stage !! WOW
Dear Mr Anderson, you have been a source of pure beauty and magical talent in my life for many years. As a sophomore in high school, my high school English teacher encouraged us to look to our record albums for music that depicted “the Pig Man” by Paul Zindel. I spent much of my presentation focusing in on Close to the Edge. I have to say my class presentation was a work of art. Because I was totally inspired. My teacher told me I was gifted. No. You were gifted. I just latched on. Jon, I want to thank you 47 years later for inspiring me and supporting my success in life. I want to cry. I realized I had talent because of that connection. No, I should say I harnessed that talent that I didn’t know I had. And I thank u. Recently I was so very blessed to see you in NH with the Paul Green Rock Academy. Thank you so much for all the work you are doing to continue the legacy of Yes and progressive rock, and nurturing young talent. ❤️
Gracious words indeed
@@alandonnelly5678 Now imagine the teenager in the faraway and cold Siberia in 1975. Can you? Probably not. That's when I heard Relayer for the first time anything by Yes and was completely destroyed by its' complexity and beauty rolled in one. Close to the Edge was as big revelation as Relayer had been. Thank you Maestro! You have been an integral part of my life!
I love this story! ❤

I love this story, too! ❤
I was listening, not watching. Thought it was some live Yes concert I hadn't heard before. What a pleasant surprise to look and find these talented kids just slaying it. Instrumentalists were awesome and the chorus was beautifully involved. Amazing work.
Kudos to Jon Anderson for passing the Yes torch to this young group of musicians. What an accomplishment, They sound fantastic.
Wow . That was absolutely amazing. I can't believe what I was listening to . Pure magic
Props to this bass player. Channelling the tone, spirit and energy of Chris magnificently.
They're all great and Jon is timeless as always, but if you don't get the Squire bits right, the vibe just isn't the same. The perfect yin to Jon's yang.
The teen bass player cuts in front of Jon -great
Okay Jon, fess up. how in the world did you get a teenage Steve Howe to perform this with you?! I can't express how much I love this performance, from the keyboardist's cape to the band nailing every transition to having the "back-up singers" out in front. Jon, you are The Preacher the Teacher.
Mark, I also had to take a double look thinking Steve Howe was there.
I had the same thought! A young Steve Howe on guitar.
I also have ears and don't hear Mr. Howe. All I hear is an overwhelmed "we play as best we can" line up. It's a good cover but not art like the original. Sorry............
Spot on post my friend 👏👏🙏
@@pepitacrowcosmos7232Listen again & shut ur fkn eyes & use your ears Hello
What alternate universe have I been transported to? Where young adults are executing such progressive rock masterpieces with such skill!! Amazing job, so cool to see them all rock out!
Jon getting emotional around 12:13. wow. what an amazing moment.
Jon always said from that historic stage at the SPECTRUM that the Philly fans were the most intense & faithful as anywhere in America hence Paul Green’s School of Rock 👏👏🙏 It all makes sense
Wow, i cant explain it but i got very emotional listening to this, brought tears to my eyes.
Jon could decide that this band is the real Yes right now, 2025.
It is so inspiring to see the younger generation so involved in YES music. Thank you Jon for everything you've done and still do for music, Love & Light back to you!
Not gonna lie. I couldn't stop crying through the whole thing.
These kids are a great band waiting to happen. 😃 Jon, if you watch these comments, thank you for all the wonderful music you've created over the years. Yes is 2nd only to the Beatles in my book. 😂
Bravo to the keyboard players cape :-)
That was Jon's idea!
@@donnaavino8082 I, too, liked it! Looked like a cross between Rick Wakeman and Victoria LeGrand of Beachhouse!!
Großartige Keyboard Arbeit
I’m in tears. The really young ones get it. It took this long, but now it’s here .
The cape. THE FREAKING CAPE!!!
As a 45 year fan of JA and Yes, I was a skeptic about this collaboration, until I watched this video!!! Each and every one of these young ladies and gentlemen are Beautiful People! The cohesion and energy of this group is undeniable! I am not active in social media, so I had to comment on this. I am in awe and hope to share this with as many Yes fans as possible. Why doesn't this video have 1M+ Views?!
I am also a longtime, devoted YES fan, and it was happenstance that I found this jewel.
I had just finished listening to my daily fix of Starship Trooper and this song was next in que.
It is hard to believe this brilliant piece doesn't have a million views.
I had the pleasure of experiencing YES a long time ago, and the experience never left me.
I get transported back in time each time I hear a YES song! ❤
Jon Anderson is the real deal and YES is my favorite band since junior high in 1974!!! So great of him to do these School of Rock shows with the kids. SO awesome, so inspiring!
A man like Jon, always positive and creative, our world needs as much of this influence as it can get ❤
I have heard this song so many times that it no longer holds the emotional appeal that it used to. That is, until I saw this. I don't know of any great performers who contribute their time and effort to our youth in the way Jon does. This brought me to tears. Thanks, Jon, for all you do. You are an inspiration to us all.
Me, too. Crying 😭
Bravo.
Wow, Jon your voice sounds as good as ever if not better. These kids did an amazing job. What a wonderful experience for these kids. I wish I could've had an experience at that age, or my age now, haha. Thank you for all the amazing music.
It is wonderful to see the next generation carry the torch.
Fantastic! Big Bravo for Jon and these great young musicians. 50 years later still a masterpiece and a beacon of light in this world
This has to be one of the hardest pieces of prog rock - executed perfectly!
Holy guacamole every one of these kids is absolutely nailing it!!! So amazing to see them all grooving out and enjoying this music and doing it so much justice.
Almost 80 years old And still the same voice ! I incredible Jon 👍
Mind blowing...
I lived for that vocal stop… AAAAAH. BA BA. This is such a masterpiece. You are an Angel Jon Anderson. This is so beautiful to see all these young persons recreating this. I always get chills on that last…. I Get Down. Thank you for this gift.
Beautiful isn't it? For me, it was finally reading Siddhartha years ago.. I had this wonderful moment where the lyrics to CTTE suddenly made sense and it was a moment of intense happiness I will never forget.
I have watched many of these performances(via YT), I am still stunned by the ability of these young people to interpret 50 year old music and make it feel fresh and relevant, more power to you all. Jon please do not stop being you! Paul Green, Thank You.
I agree most beautiful voice in history.
What a marvellous rendition. I am 71 and remember the original. So many memories...
"Close to the Edge" is a masterpiece handed down more than a generation.
50 years old and still a joy to listen to, incredible from start to finish
SO YOUNG AND TALENTED! Also, I always thought our old rockers didn't age well, except this one.
Incredible! I can see why Jon has taken a path towards passing on Yes to these amazing kids, Huge applause to the entire band, love you Jon!!!!1
Jon’s voice is timeless. It just doesn’t age. Fantastic
The entire Close to the Edge album and all three songs have only gained in stature in the last 50 years since this album came out, an instant prog-rock classic. You know, I used to teach music, and the kids of today say most of the music of today "sucks". YES music will outlive us all! God bless Jon Anderson, my favorite rock singer in any band! You deserve a knighthood. RIP dear Chris Squire.
outstanding live performance. live long and prosper Jon Anderson a truly wonderful soul
Bass player is awesome❤
Wow, great! I was there 50 years ago, and Jon’s tribute is getting some kids to nail it. Fantastic!
♥️
Dear Fellow Seeker, child spirit and bringer of the word in music. I too am a mystic and have loved your music for decades. One knows another child's song when one hears it. Thank you so much for sharing with us all.
It takes a lot for me to get misty. I'm wiping tears away at this performance. I wonder if it's hit these young musicians just how incredible it is to play this piece with the original band singer and writer. Just WOW indeed!
Pretty dammn good that. From. Warrington North West UK... 🇬🇧🇺🇦 ps the odd bum note just made it more authentic.genuine, more honest...ps God bless that bass guitarist for putting Chris Squire on that stage, just his unique vocal was missing on the quiet mid section, along with the immortal Jon Anderson, (perfect and magical as always)
Fabulous to see the young musicians play the classic with the master himself.
No one else can sing this as Jon Anderson can. So grateful to realize young people want to play this music and get to play it with Jon Anderson. This is one of my favorite Yes songs. I'd like to think there will be people 50 years from now that want to perform this song so well! It is a classic to me!
I went to see these in London last night and was amazed at how good it was. Whilst there was a certain "high school band" quality to it as they earnestly plugged away rather than showing us how much they were enjoying it (the wonderful singers excepted) that made it all the better. Paul himself cautioned us that there may be mistakes so be patient. There WERE no mistakes and they breathed new, youthful life into all these great old pieces and a few cover versions too. You couldn't keep up with who was playing what as a striking female vocalist took the lead in one song and turned up playing a very adept bass in the next song, or another singer appeared playing sax, or plucking away at Mood for a Day. I saw the current Yes a year ago (I still love them and will defend their right to continue playing as Yes) but they looked slightly tired and business like, almost like karaoke Yes, compared to these young upstarts.
I just had a spiritual experience weeping and watching this while petting my cat purring in my lap. Thank you and the kids for bringing me into deep practice.
Jon will you introduce those wonderful young musicians please?
Es mi himno a la vida . Maravillosa versión, juventud talentosa . Amo a Yes y a su corazón angelical Jon con 80 años de talento ejemplar.
All these years. All the roads traveled. And Jon's voice still sounds excellent!
I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. THANK YOU JON for arranging this. This is such a great thing!!! Those in the band are very talented and it gave me goosebumps while listening. Your voice is as beautiful as it was years ago. I love you!
I bought my first yes album in 1974 ...this brings a tear to my eye ...to see these kids discover it
Fab, bass player especially good. These kids must really wonder what on earth they are singing about though
This brought tears to my eyes....so cool on a lot of levels.
WONDERFUL FANTASTIC !! thank you thank you thank you everybody !
You still sound amazing Jon! A wonderful job by these young musicians. At first you said no to them,I’m glad you changed your mind 😎😉🙏
Omg they kicked butt on this song. Cheers to all in stage great job from start to finish. I've followed Yes for many years and attended 30 plus concerts of YES, you all nailed it. Be proud of yourself.
Thanks and praises to you Jon, for giving them the opportunity to perform live with you
looking forward to seeing you in London
This is one talented group of young people. Excellent job on a rather complex song. I'm sure Jon Anderson was thrilled.
Jon Anderson THE VOICE. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES❗❗❗🎤🎤🎤
In 1972 I was in high school. Yes was my favorite band and Close To The Edge was (and still is) my favorite album. To be honest, I was reluctant to watch this video of Jon performing with a bunch of kids. But I did, and I am glad I did. I watched it twice - the second time with my girlfriend (also a Yes fan). We loved the energy of the performance and each kid’s arrangement of their parts. Keep up the good work!
Check out Jon with the band geeks from last weekend! I went Sunday and was pulverized!
WOW!!! my favorite song, performed by EXTREMELY good students of the craft!! holy this was amazing
A stunningly amazing performance that's very, very, very CLOSE TO THE EDGE of the original!!!
So much talent, love and respect comes together here and give hope! 🙂
Maestro!!!!! Timeless music now being passed on to the new generations...Bravo!!!!!
Hi Jon you are one Mega Motor of the music progressive
Congratulation
I love what you are doing for are young generation lets just hope that they respect good music's that you taught.you are a rock n roll gem for over 50 years.
Keyboard player wearing a cape! Delightful!
Oh, and bass player wearing a Chris Squire-type long embroidered coat!
I can't believe how much fun I'm having watching these young kids vibing on stage while presenting this song from my own teenage years.
Incredible. The Paul Green Rock Academy blew my mind and with Jon's vocals - pure heaven. This collaboration is so much better than the other Yes members touring under the name "Yes" with their lead vocalist who tries but fails to emulate Jon's vocals and end up sounding like a Yes tribute band. Without Jon's vocals, there is no Yes. Loved the guitar work here too particularly with the bassist who gives off real Chris Squire vibes playing with a similar vibrant energy that borders on a willingness to fly off into a rage. Paul Green Rock Academy has a new fan.
OMG JON ❤️ this show was so awesome!!!! The kids did great ❤️😊
Timeless Hiraeth, Beautiful. Perfection. Joy.
Dear Mr. Anderson, I just recently came across this channel and learned of your involvement with young musicians. In my teenage years I had a strong connection to the music of YES. I purchased about 8 or 9 of the albums then. Close To The Edge was a favorite of mine and I was so impressed by it that in High School, I did a class presentation on it. The class enjoyed it thoroughly and I must have done a helluva job with that. I do not know if I still have that paper. I believe that only the most sophisticated of listener could appreciate what YES did then with their music. Jon Anderson, you are a living Miracle.
Jon. Thank you for the ripples of Love you send. We receive them from the most beautiful voice in the cosmos, and may the Love reflect back from us unto you.
Magnificent, it's fantastic to see that young people pick up a legacy as beautiful as the music of YES and execute it with dedication and talent. And the collaboration of one of the original masters of the band like Jon, must undoubtedly be a stimulus for young talents.
It was wonderful to have you, Paul and all the kids at RoSfest in Sarasota, Florida. Thank you so much for being one of the hardest working people in music.
Toute ma jeunesse...❤️👍👏
I love you, Jon....thanks for coming to London this year. Sunday 23rd....❤
The torch is always being passed. A dream come true. Thank you Jon, Paul, and especially All of the Students and parents, whose dedication and love burn brightly✨💗
Wow... Dear Jon... Wonderful, glorious music... Thank You!!!
If you read this Jon, I would like to congratulate you on a great re-imagining of this masterpiece.
Your voice is still magnificent and with the youngsters along, it is even more amazing.
Wow Jon, you may have just inspired a whole new generation of prog rockers! Thank you so much. 🤩
I was at the concert in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands last July. Fantastic experience! The youngsters were amazing and so of course was Jon.
The most beautiful song ever wrote in history. Jon Anderson a big yes fan for years we love you and hope you live forever the greatest Voice in history. Along with Freddy and Robert Plant. 😢 Sends tears to my eyes how beautiful your voice is.
@edwardholliday6905 nearly 80 years old and that voice, still killing it…
For all their years they ALWAYS will remember this moment . . .
From the first time I saw Yes in the mid 70's to today your music has been a source of joy, strength and support throughout good time an bad. You are and always will be a true legend
Incredible version of an incredible song performed by incredible musicians!
Jon, there is only one way, as written, and I hope you see this, as I hope to sit and chat with you one day, in the next realm of this journey. Been following your group since 77, met you and Rick at the SF Airport after chasing down your limo to the gate. Limo drivers are crazy, but couldn't outrun our yellow TransAm! Thanks for all the tunes. J I L 💕
Now well into my 60's I look at these kids and i just know that there's hope for the world!
Absolutely Sensational.
Can’t wait to see Jon with these fabulous young musicians next month (July), here in the UK, in London.
So looking forward to this. 🎶❤️🎶
Amazing how good this sounds. Nice job to all involved.
Love that bassist! Chris would have been so proud.
Thank you ALL! So inspiring! P. S. What a performance! Bravo!
Talent...attracts...the beauty is in the soul of connection...source.
Thanks 😊
Jon, you clearly seem to be enjoying this to the fullest. And I can understand why. So much positive and beautiful energy in that stage.
The many young voices singing together with you adds so much goodness to this epic masterpiece.
Don’t ever stop please 🙏🏻❤️💜❤️
Lots of Light and love for you Jon. Kiss
Wow! Best non-Yes version of this I've heard. Drummer - you are killing it! Played all the best stuff from Alan White and Bruford approach and brought your own stuff. No over playing and and great sound. And the back up vocals in the slow section were so good. The female voices and how they phrased and brought their own sound to it worked so well with Jon's voice. And the approach to the section come out of the slow part was great and an original take on it. So good! Amazing work!
I can't love this enough. Oh just freaking WOW 😯
We're not as young (30 somethings) - but we recently did a Close to the Edge 50 year tribute here in Tel Aviv and it was such an amazing night, sold out and overwhelmingly joyful. Thank you thank you thank you Jon and the Yes band for creating such timeless, wonderful music.
Jon Anderson is YES. FOREVER. The Soul. The Spirit. The Words.
