Favorite Summer Walleye Fishing Lures

- Todays video is all about my favorite summer walleye fishing lures. The seasons are once again changing and before we get into the heat of summer I wanted to get this video out so you guys can stock up for the upcoming bites. Summer walleye fishing is much different than spring and early summer. Fish move out deeper and spread out. In this video I talk about a few jigging options and a few trolling options. Thanks for watching!

Videos like this are priceless. Thanks for the education! I wish more fishing UA-camrs would spend time educating like you do.
Me to
Precision trolling has a great app for dive curves for just about every crankbait, and they have dive curves for snap weights.
Just some proof of how much I have learned from you is that I guessed all 4 techniques before watching the video. Now I just need to get out there and use them. Awesome video as usual.
This video is how I started deciphering the lake I live on.
Thanks for making this one!
Really basic and specific info. You do a great job of explaining what you're doing and why. That camera adjustment when you wanted to show more of the rod when you started snap jigging was great. Useful stuff.
Great video and as usual I pick up something new with everyone of them and by far the best teacher on YT. My problem is I am in Georgia where we have about a 10-15 year walleye introduction in progress. Of the 20 or so guys from up north who are diehard walleye guys that I have spoke and fished with it seems bottom bouncers are all that works in our lake /river chain that borders South Carolina. I will keep trying the techniques but I know of no one targeting walleyes to catch them without bouncers. I've gone out with the biologist shocking up 3-4 lbs and he has shocked and gill netted 9-12 pounders. Your welcomed to come down and try your skills. Great work and thank you.
Surly goes up on the bow of the boat and says, "I'm the king of the world!" What a good fishing buddy! lol
Thanks tons .On a Kawartha Lake in Ontario. Walleye fishing was so easy 50 years ago. May fishing on Lovesick Lake in 4 to 8’ of water gets must of my fish buckTail jigs. But lose out now in summer but will now fish trolling and always learning.
I do well with walleye divers and other crank bait down to 15' ish in the channel on the same lake. It's about that time right now where they will move from shore to the channels. Trolling of course
That was the best fishing video I have ever seen on UA-cam! Out standing young man!
Glad you mentioned pinning. Pinning is done by most fish. In my state it’s considered illegal to fowl hook a fish. Wardens are starting to recognize pinning here finally. As in the past was considered foul hooking.
Best fishing videos on UA-cam
This is one of your best videos thanks Tom for sharing..
Great video man anytime you are Walleye fishing you have to be on the bottom. My favorite walleye baits are 1. Berkley Purple Tigers. 2 Bottom Bouncers. 3 swimbaits. 4 Berkley cutters
I was bass fishing NW Georgia at Rocky MTN Project and had Faust a few bass .Hooked a good fish 5lb s plus reached down to lip it before I realized it had a mouth full of teeth.
I admire all of your fishing tactics and absolutely love your videos hopefully one day I will be decent at fishing walleyes they are my passion keep up the awesome content 👍
Yet another great video! I personally do not need to see fish catching videos! I’d much rather learn from the expert!!
Thanks Tom! Such great teaching points. Appreciate all you are doing. Looking to put all the information to use 27th-4th up near Hayward! Hoping to say "Hooked UP!!" many many times with the kids!
Vertical jiggin, just picked up 2 ML XF fenwick elite walleye spinning rods, haven’t used them yet, but they feel and react amazing in the hand.
Tom your videos are great and informative...I learn something new every time I watch. Was heading out to do some trolling this weekend, but might have to try out the jiggin n rap method. Thanks for the info!
When trolling always heavier lead towards your center spread. Snap weights are 5’/50’ per ounce
Great insight, good video and very informative. Nice work!
Really love all your videos !! Thx for all the techniques and sharing with us all. Keep up the good work !
Nailed it once again Tom. Thank you. 👍👍👍👍👍
Slow death hooks and berkley killer crawlers work well Lekan. 👍
Giving those shiver minnows a hard snap is a technique we have used up here on bay de noc for a while through the ice
Love the purple color. It’s been a good one for me on the troll. Never thought of snap jigging a crank bait lure. Will need to try that one.
I don’t think he mentioned snap jigging a crank bait. He mentioned using snap weights to get them deeper if needed
Learning alot. Keep up the good work and information. Trying some of these techniques in Montana. They work. Thanks.
Spoons, spinners, and cranks here on Erie....good fishing everyone...
For sure, good fishing to you also.
You completely lost me after the casting lures. I’ve been a bass fisherman and pike/panfish fisher my whole life. Starting doing walleye this year and pretty decent on them. Just trying to get great. Thank you, I like your videos they have helped me a good deal.
More closeups of each lure would be nice.
another great job describing what you do thanks tom
Thanks for the video great content And info brother. You know your stuff well and absolutely love the stern set up of your boat
Very informative video I'm a beginner and it helped me alot but I couldnt stop thinking where does you dog poo lol
Pull up on shore bruh or have a pad in a certain area for em. Some folks don't train their pets like how I grew up
All these bait choices should come with a the disclaimer of, " to be used in conjunction with I-pilot..." Lol, I now understand, after breaking mine in today, got more fish in 20 of jigging than 5 hrs of trolling... Trout, but same difference.
No your 4 favorite summer lures are slip bobbers slip bobbers slip bobbers and slip bobbers
Hell yea
@@TomBoley I feel allot of people forget to use slip bobbers for walleye. They think of panfish and not walleye.
I remember seeing a Video on a guy that was a pro, and used sip bobbers often. When the weather was right. I think it can be relaxing , especially ay night.
I love slip bobbers. But they just don't work on my lake but maybe 1 month out of the year. Summer time they move down to 25 feet and deeper as the thermocline falls and it's mostly flat gravel points that we fish so they hardly ever stay put in one area.
Pretty uninteresting for a bank fisher lmao
Slip floats for walleyes? Never knew that was a thing.
Hey looking for a good walleye rod would a 7’ medium light be to flimsy for a snap jigging rod and multi purpose rod
Do you ever hit the river for walleyes? Would love to see some content from the river side of things.
Second this.
I third this 🤘
4th
I'll 5th that
Working on it
Lures play a part in fishing any fish but I would say the timing and presentation matters with the accommodations of weather factors.
The dog and treble hooks have me freaking out a little bit.
Excellent presentation and content! Thanks!
Spinner rig trolling with planner boards would be very insightful. It be interesting to see how you rig that, what speed do you go while trolling?
1.2 mph
When you're jigging minnows, trolling crawlers or single hook harnesses/leeches, are you always using live bait? Have you used Gulp Alive stuff with success?
I'd also like to know this...
Nice. I think that purple slick alewife is the hottest lure on Erie right now. Might join the Next Bite in the future?
Good stuff Tom!
thanks for the videos man.....ive caught more walleyes then ever this summer. there biting good up in canada!
Great show with lots of useful tips. Sure wish you still guided.
Couldn’t do that all day. Slow rolling grubs and Swimbaits is very effective too.
Great video, good info, good pace
Great tips! Will give it a try
Spot lock,,,, even works for doing instructional videos,,,! 🎉
Do you have a video that shows your tackle storage, sizes, qty etc
Great video Tom🔥🎣
Could you do a show on fishing heavy fished clears lakes like Leech in MN. We know the fish are sensitive to all these boats. Tons of people are on all the common points. Any help would be great.
Have you tried trolling spinners with plastics instead of crawlers? To fend off those pesky perch from eating the crawlers off. IF so any suggestion on which plastics?
Keitech easy shiner.
Awesome video on top lures very informative
Great video but could you please say the names of the stuff you're talking about more clearly and slower for us newbies that have no idea what you're talking about. I do find some of the things linked so thanks for that. Keep up the good work. Hoping to catch some walleyes soon.
I would have expected power slip bobbering to be on the summer list
Great job thanks Tom
tom do you every target walleye hanging around fish cribs? or is the something walleye dont normally do?
The dog is happy
Seasick frog is my favorite flicker minnow. UV paint kills it.
Biggest problem with Berkeley Cranks is the hooks are fucking shit. One big fish and they are toast. Too light of wire.
Do you use Berkly Crystal braided line?. If so what size for mid summer? The lakes I fish are not clear water like the lakes you fish..
great video, great work. thanks!
is acme vertical fishing? or can I cast it from shore?
What's your favorite line to use walleye fishing
So you fish spinners over super deep water 50-80ft around 25ft down? What time of year do you do that?
Hitting up the acme tackle store
What's the purpose of the offset bend in bottom pouncer
Some you can change out weights so it keeps the lead from sliding off
Question about your spot lock... do you have “new” post 2017 version or the old.. debating if I should get the new.. supposed to be better.. love to hear your thoughts. You’re the man Tom
I can tell you the older version for the Power Drive v2 is very frustrating to use. It is fine if you are not targeting fish in a specific area and are only interested in remaining "anchored" but it is tough to use when you expect to remain still. It only has a single GPS sensor so the boat will swing wildly -- about 270 degrees -- and it only keeps you within 15-20' of the spot location.
Go with the newer bluetooth version.
@@jessiebrickner7129 How do you upgrade?
No jigging spoons?
Tom...great videos. I use the Kalins too. Just tried the google eye and find it nearly impossible to rig a Kalins on there due to the strength of that plastic and the jig’s wire keeper. Any tricks you have come up with? Cheers.
Thanks you! New to your channel !
Hey Tom where did you go? I haven't seen a video in 4 days.
I need my walleye fix from ya!
Quick trip....videos will start again tomorrow
Do you have a problem keeping live bait on hook when snapping?
What’s the deepest you might fish the hyper rattle?
what do run on the line counter reels....mono or braid?
Your dog is looking for shade to take a nap.
I don't troll, but I usually just fish from the dock of the Marina my family's boat is at. Would these work for that as well?
Jig and minnow, topwaters, swimbaits and you'll be set my friend
Awesome
Great instruction, been trying to fish in Merrill Creek NJ using downriggers
And minn Kota Ultrex with hummingbird. Cannot catch a thing. Tried spoons, chatter and everything on the box. My son and I see the fish on hummingbird 8 but cannot get them to bite. Any thoughts? Middle is 200 feet, we go down anywhere from 25 - 85 feet
How fast are you goint
@@TheTylerjames74 Using the trolling it was anywhere between 1-2 mph.
I would try and keep your speed between 2 and 3
Caught alot of fish this summer going about 2.8
@@TheTylerjames74 thank you. I will kick it up
Cool
Do you mainly use the heavier/bigger hyper rattle?
Hey tom question I am. Head walleye fishing here this weekend. It's borderline summer now but water is still cold mid low 60s would you recommend slower ripping or try a bit of both?
Out of curiosity. What rod size and action are you using for these snapping methods?
I think he mentions that in the video
What is the rope tied between the cleats for? its been driving me nuts
@@Tyler-zw4kq if you don't know, why comment?
@john good one, do you always fight your boyfriend's battles?
It's a Wisconsin state law. When fishing alone, you must have a five foot rope tied to the starboard side.
@@toben42 can you point out this regulation that your speaking of? I looked through the boating guide & fishing guide & can't find it. Thanks.
Good advice man but seriously why do you have twenty thousand rod holders
How fast do you troll them flickers???
Hi Tom. What type of line do you use on the heavy snap jigging jigs? Are you still using braid?
He said he uses 10# braid
He mentioned 10# for the jigging rap. No mention of line choice for snapping heavy plastic. Unless I missed it...
What dive curve chart do you use?
What kind of boat do you use?
You ever break a rod snapping it that hard‽??
Tom what size is that hype rattle? 1.5"?
Big one. 2.5
@@TomBoley youre the best thanks
Do you run a bottom bouncer or bullet weight on your flicker minnow trolling set up?
He mentioned he just long lines it instead of using weights
Drop shot???
Great tips, right? Do you need to ask us if we think your right, right?
My elbow wouldn't survive that ripping very long.
I can't get my dog in the boat
If you don’t like Bombers in the summer for cranks you’re foolish. Bombers are deadly as fuck.
Northern Lights personal favorite.
Good info but holy bat shit Robin! That Joe Biden commercial smacking me right at the start of the video was just too dayum much!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮
yesssssssssssssss
