Yeah, it's like subconsciously typing fast. I actually make a lot less typos that way, but once I realise and start to pay more attention to it, The mistakes usually just start rolling in. Like now, I've made like 8 typos on this one comment.

This was like two months ago ..I can chain now 😂 but thanks for all the nice comments 💕 I’ve also made a lot of things like bags, hats, clothing etc thanks to this channel and a few different ones.
(a few people said chaining was easy for them. it was the tension of my chain I was having trouble with. It would be tight in some places and the rest a mess 😂)

I’ve been crocheting for 49 years. My first project was a granny square pillow consisting of 4 squares (4 rows) and single crocheted together on the front and 1 big square for the back. I gave it to my Mom. It was still on her sofa when she passed away 3 years ago so it’s back in my collection of pillows.

That’s really sweet, and maybe you can pass the pillow on to your child or niece (etc), too, someday, once they’re old enough to understand why it’s so special.
A sentimental person is a kind person to me, so I’m sure your mother was a wonderful woman. Condolences for your loss, and may she RIP until you meet again one day ❤😊
And PS- I just started crocheting only a few days ago, and I’m starting to get the hang of it… but still, seeing you’ve done it for 49 years gave me hope that I’ll keep getting better and continue doing it and then, someday it’ll be me on here (or on some weird future-app haha) commenting about how I’ve been at it for decades, so… thanks for the unintentional motivation! 😅

Fast is really not helpful. When I go slow I find that I get my rows done much faster, the stitches are even and they look just the way I want them. i've been crocheting over a year now, and i CAN crochet fast but i choose to never do it bc i like to crochet. The slower you are, the more you can crochet. Finished projects are cool but I never use it (only beanies)

I unraveled months worth of me trying to make my first cardigan the other day and redid it (past the point I was at before) in 3 days

Currently working on a beanie and I noticed how I'm a little bit faster than whenever I decided to pick the hobby back up. The key is to relax and just have fun.❤

I can crochet faster then what I do . I more or less just enjoy when I’ve finally finished my project I was working on . To anyone learning don’t think crocheting super fast is easier or better then taking your time , you make more mistakes and have to redo more stitches when you speed through a project. You’ll find your rhythm in how you hold the string and the crochet hook and how fast works best for you ! Tips for holding the hook play around with it and go for whatever feels best to your hand … I use to hold mind like a pen and found I actually do better and it’s more comfortable for me to hold it with the side of my index finger and thumb and let it rest in my hand , I also don’t hold the yarn as shown in most videos , I just do what’s best fits me and I’ve made some really beautiful projects! Don’t give up and you’ll figure it all out , be patient with yourself ❤

i've found that it's not so much that i can make the stitches faster (tho that is part of it), but more so I dont need to spend as much time finding the right hole, making sure I'm yarn over'ing at the right time, etc. Plus i have to re-do mistakes less often (tho i still do make loads of mistakes lol)

I have good tension and once I get into the swing of things I'm like a machine. Until the yarn is caught in the crossfire

I was taught how to crochet by my mom when I was about six years old. It came back very naturally as an adult when I started making things for friends who were having their kids. I put it down for a while because I didn’t have any kids of my own, and it was just too hard to make pink blankets. I picked it up again and made a ton of things for myself and others. Put it down for a bit and picked it up again and I am still pretty slow actually. There are some things I do faster than others but for the most part, I’m slow. I don’t whip up projects one after another😢

Just how it is with routine and habit of anything, but I still prefer to slow down and take my time. I found that more often than not, getting too comfortable in a routine of going “fast” creates a lot of small mistakes that I wouldn’t have ever made if I had just taken the time to focus more on the piece itself instead of racing to get it done quickly.
