The gun itself is pretty accurate but because yours is having accuracy issues you are posting a video,in my view what this does is it has a Chinese whispers effect which ends up with people going from this guys r12 isn’t very accurate to “I’ve heard those r12 BSA CLX pros are crap” which I don’t think is particularly fair “yes I know I don’t have to watch or listen” I just think you demonstrating your engineering prowess at the cost of a nice rifle is a little unfair and may cause the average guy in his local gunsmiths to turn around and walk away.
So you would rather we say the gun is fantastic even though we know it's far from it ? we buy a gun from a shop and try to be honest about the gun we have good or bad, we have done over 170 videos on lots of different makes and done machining on most of them so to suggest we say the gun is bad to show off some machining is just laughable, 170 + vids and i think we have done 2 that i would call bad guns so we managed to get plenty of machine work in on good guns. i am sorry you are unhappy that i showed the problems i had with my gun but it has helped a few people with the same problems so that has to be a good thing imo 👍

Brilliant as always, tremendous about of detailed information in a relatively short video, best on you tube by a mile ,thank you for taking the time to make all these great videos.
Great and very informative video, with all these anti-tampers in place. I am glad I did not purchase a R12 which I was looking at couple of months ago👍🏼
Genius tear down as usual Jake. I think most would come unstuck searching for the ATs and butcher the block 😊 Whilst it's encouraging to see that BSA have binned the original troubled reg design, it's sad that the finishing on the latest version isn't quite up to par, especially for the price) ATs are a controversial subject, but to fit an AT that prevents removal of the barrel is a special kind of twisted idiocy, as often the best way to clean a barrel is to remove it. Looking forward to the 'improvements' ❤
Great skills and fantastic commentary👌🏻 The AT seems excessive and will probably stop most owners attempting their own maintenance which is a shame! Looking forward to seeing the next instalment and the reason for the inaccuracy👍🏻
I own a R12 CLX Pro in .177 and shoot at Pete’s with it. I certainly enjoy shooting it and find its accuracy more than acceptable. I think some miss hits are more me than the rifle, however, it’s interesting to see what you’re finding. It is such a shame with regard to the AT’s as albeit I don’t classify myself as someone able to service the rifle, it will undoubtedly increase service price. A shame manufacturers don’t look at the long term picture beyond just the purchase. Once again thank you for your detailed videos.
yes i have shot 2 now that have been spot on, just about everybody at the range has shot this one and come to the same conclusion it's just not good🙄 it is a shame they a bit hit and miss but we are working out what needs doing to sort it out 😀😀
Impressive AND entertaining .. and very interesting that's for sure .. and YES I watch ALL your vids with enthusiasm , that said , you lost me after the stock bolt removal ..
BSA always were a bit keen with their anti-tampers, but they really have gone to town on this one. I can see the brass tube for the barrel causing a lot of frustration. Wonder how they work on the rifles themselves, or do they just throw away the block and put a new one on? Great steady video of the strip down, thanks for sharing. 👍👍
Great clear disassembly demonstration with great instructions and advice (Very professional). I am sure this assist most people from damaging their rifle. Valve housing exit ports are poor, wasting air, and together with transfer port I have to wonder what they were thinking. There are so many more efficient and simple valve/tfr port designs on the market (do they also think a square wheel is better than a round wheel?). The only R10 I worked on benefitted from a shortened spring/hammer arrangement to make it free floating, reducing wasted air. Apart from barrel crown/polish etc, looking forward to see what you will need and want to change.
lots of the inside of the R12 looks like r10 just done a little different, the light hammer is spoiled by the long soft hammer spring with a ton of pre-load the reg is better but they could have done so much more IMO 🙄 thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
Hi Geoff, another great informative video, they certainly don't want anyone getting into the rifle as you said, but if your able to remove the anti tampers like you do than again as you explained what's the point,i think having seen you take apart a lot of rifles, this one seems quite complicated and very anti self servicing to the customer compared say to an FX Impact, still i know that you'll definitely improve on it so I'm very much looking to your next video, thanks for sharing your expert knowledge with all of us,kind regards,Phil.
Great watch as always. This may be a stupid question, but how do rfd’s get past the anti tampers? Do they have to drill them out? Do they replace the caps?👍👍👍
i think most rfd's will just send this one back to bsa all the time it has a warranty, after that i think it will depend on the rfd some will and some won't
Jake, can you stick a close up of the transfer port restrictor in the next vid please. It looked slightly different to the ultra i had here, but that was over a year ago.... A few lads have said that the anti double load mech, apart from bending and marring up the block can cause some consistency issues. I didnt pay any attention to wether it might or might not,but would be keen to know your thoughts on it.😉
A nice and clear tutorial - the brass splined abomination is really rather silly. Are they on all varieties? Just thinking that on the super carbine, it would stop someone putting a longer barrel on and upping the power without any other changes? if its on all, then I'll go back to it being silly 🙂 In terms of the hammer weight, interesting it was a couple of grams lighter....ow does the hammer spring compare in your experience? If the hammer is lighter, are they using a stronger spring? keep up the good work.
i think the brass tube is on all of them mate just seems silly to me 🙄 the hammer spring is the same or maybe just a tad heaver as the R10 so to make it work they have to put a ton of pre-load on the hammer spring 🙄 that's why we still here the bounce 😳
Question, do you pre disassemble these guns before you shows all of the ends and outs or look at schematics on them? You are really good at what you do and also a real good machinist, I enjoy watching your videos👍👍👍👍
we pre disassemble, mainly so we can inspect all the components so we can give a good idea of what your getting and keep the video as short as pos 😀 thanks for watching 😁
I hope you are still watching this video,so able to answer a question please. I have a R10 and removed the tamper on that with basic tools.a hand held electric drill,it went ok. i would love to buy the r12 BUT the amount of anti tampers stops that. but i keep coming back to wanting one. are the anti tampers on this (4 to be drilled) as easy to drill as the r10? i would have trouble using a large bit, i drilled a smallish hole on the r10,screwed a self tapper in and used pliers to pull the plug out.the brass tube looks very easy to do,thanks
you will be able to get them all out with a hand drill just like the r10 the only tricky one would be the barrel port but you should be able to wind a screw in and pull it out
Great video as always, is it fair comment to say I’m a little disappointed at the quality and finish of some of the parts ? After all this is not a cheap air rifle, from premium brand ??
I've pulled out the pin and removed the barrel fine a month ago. I've come back to remove it again and it's stuck on absolutely solid. How would you go about removing this? Heat gun the barrel?
