I know this was 5 years ago but this was incredibly helpful! my fur is still looking pretty rough but its sooooo much better after watching this tutorial and I feel a lot more comfortable with the tools now! super grateful for this!
Hello! Sorry to disturb you, but I'd like to ask you about facial rigging without blendshape. I remember that 3 mounths ago you said that you hadn't learned it yet. I have been waiting for the tutorial video about facial rigging without blendshape since then. If you, by any chance, haven't made it, please tell me when the tutorial video is to be released. I have wanted to go on with my own character for 3 mounths. I trust you the most! You make the best videos! You are the best! Please, inform me about the expected date of the release of the tutorial! Thank you for your answer, in advance. Best regards! Oliver Mark Szecsody
Bom dia! Como faço para resolver este problema...The shelf "Polygons" has items that cannot be read. The shelf will only display the items before the first unreadable item it finds. If you start Maya and save this shelf then you will lose the unreadable items. This will happen automatically if you have your preferences set to save the shelves on exit.? Tenho que desinstalar e reinstalar?
hi, nice tutorial, I have a question is that why I try to use vray render but the fur is still white but in the viewport it does have the texture i put for the geo that im putting xgen fur on, and i did set the render to vray, it still only render out the white color for some reason, please help me ! thanks!
We have a modeling tutorial based on an older version of Maya here: ua-cam.com/play/PL8hZ6hQCGHMXgtsXELxHFmCW2HRzJLAf6.html Though some of the features are out of date, the basic techniques and tools are still the same. We also have tutorials based on the newer toolset: ua-cam.com/play/PL8hZ6hQCGHMULtEAK2k6Ohx00pYyjPujc.html And though the actual model we build is a jacket and not a character, you can use combine these new tools with the previous tutorials techniques to put the whole puzzle together.
I'm using xgen for dog fur, and when I render in Arnold it ends up looking like felt. Not only that but in order to get a decent fur coverage, my density is around 5k while yours is set so much lower. Why are there these differences between our renders?
hello I have a question. So After the groom is ready can I convert this groom to polygons ? And second question is after converting it to polygon can I apply my skin texture to the polygon mesh so that it will look like the fur has that texture ?
You can convert it to "cards" which is very thin polygon planes, yes. And yes, once they're cards you can do anything to them that you can do to geometry (such as apply textures)
@@Autodesk_Maya and one more question after I make the hairs is it possible to to transfer them to same other model but with different face expressions ?
I hope you can answer this question for me, If you had this character, after the fur is applied is there away to scale the character. with the fur applied and groomed?
+Matthew Delano After you scale your geometry, go to the XGen window's "Grooming" tab and increase/decrease the Length setting. That should compensate for the changed scale.
+sutafgar911 We'll consider that for next time, though it may be hard to license a track long enough. I'd suggest just having your own playlist playing in the BG. = )

Thanks maya for giving my school free copies for 3 years!
It's 2022 and it looks great ! Any suggestions to have something like this on a animated character?
Can you do a full series on fur grooming in xgen

I LOVE the chimp model! Did you use any reference pictures of any kind? How did you go about making him?
+ninjalord3 The chimp was sourced from TurboSquid, but built using typical box/extrude modeling techniques.
Maya Learning Channel Do you know of any sources that could teach me these kinds of techniques of modeling?

It might have to do with the scale of the models. What units are you using for your grid and how big is your model on it?
hi~ i wan to ask . how to control shadow like Softimage ?
