Great Video! (: Just a little tip for u in case that u dont already know. You can undo view changes from your camera with alt+z or alt+y for redo. (Or via the "View Drop Down menu)
Great introductory video to using interactive grooming! I am having an issue that I hope someone can help me out with. I want to be able to import my groom and model into Unreal to be animated. However, whenever I convert the primitives to polygons, the new converted fur stops moving with the geometry. I do not see any bind skin options in the convert option tab either. Additionally, I cannot figure out how to set up the UVs so that the hair cards maintain the image texture of the original fur.
Great video! Hair shader textures only work in maya 2022? In my maya 2020, when adding textures to the Tip color and Root color, nothing happens, the shader still remains brown
It's not bad, but confussing because in the previous dino video you used the manual Xgen tools and this uses the Interactive ones. I was looking all over where I could manage some of the things that seemed so easy in this tutorial. For example the other Xgen automatically makes a squared template of your fur and (probably unless you code it) you cannot just throw in a texture in a lot of the modifiers. The scale modifier is also non existent, only Cut. So in all good, but also very incomplete if you wanted to use the toold of the previous dinosaur tutorial
Thanks it was a time saver. Quick question ( when I click interactive groom and increase the density the corners of the plane does not gets covered with splines). i tried to create rug but ended up with no splines in corners alone (splines gets curved edges leaving corners blank). please answer it would be helpful (no other videos covers it). i can even share a pic of it if needed. thanks
Am I missing something? The resolution of the video is so low I have no idea what you're clicking on in the UI. Is there something I could do to see more detail in the video?
Have you tried going to the video settings, and increasing the resolution? It looks like a gear. The resolution goes all the way up to 1080. I hope that helps!
thanks for this great tutorial, just one question i have that my fur is not moving with model..when i animated my model the fur remains at its place only..please help..thanks you
Great video Monica! I do have a question though. I'm refreshing my Maya skills and xgen is new to me altogether. I do a lot of hard surface modeling and decided since I wanted to grow my portfolio I would start doing more organic models. I am stuck where I don't know the next steps moving forward once I've created the fur on my pillow. Any advice or video you can point me to because I've watched a few and I'm wondering the best pipeline for me. I am familiar with the programs separately and also updating myself on the integrated part of everything. I'm so used to going into Maya, ZBrush then Maya... Substance then UE... Any tips are welcome.. I feel like such a noob!!
How to bake the maps for all the surface for my game engine? I know how to do it for the card of hairs, here we have to make maps for each hairline or what is your offer?
Hello, thank for very much for your sharing! I would like to achieve the effect at 8:57 , however mine appears to be unevenly distributed fur. Do you know the reason?
Sorry, I'm not sure. I don't use Marmoset toolbag. My guess is that you'll have to export xGen hair as geometry. It'll be a heavy file, but 'should' work. Again, I'm not sure.
Hi, I am doing a cute dog seeing your tutorial and my hair is acting weird, is taking the material every single hair and I want to do like in your video that's in all the model 🥲 if someone know how to solve this I really appreciate your help ❤
I haven't used xgen in over a year and I have a project that requires that I use it. This was an awesome refresher thank you!

Good tip! You can also use the left and right bracket to get the same effect. :)
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus yeah... very very old one :)

If you were to create scales for reptilian creatures like Dinosaurs or Dragons, does X-Gen also have that feature?
Thank you master very perfect good luck
Thank you for the support!
AMAZING TUT
Thank you! 😃
Hey this was a great video thank you! Just wondering if this is easy to export to Unreal Engine?
Cool. But it's not a game ready hair, right? Just for a nice render? Thank you 😊
Yes, correct. It's for a nice render, like animation. For games, it would have to be exported as geometry😊

I got the same issue :(
The fur should follow the geometry. Try moving the object and make sure you are in frame 1. In my animation, my fur follows. Hopefully that helps!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus thanks for the reply.. I have tried but still fur remains at same place only.. where is this option "my fur follows" ??
Can we use the same Texture that you made, in the yeti? Is it logically the same?

Hi Monica, a question about the arms. How do we add the same description to the arms too without having to create a new one?
Is there any simulation when you animate it?
Can you do a tutorial on modeling a Ferris wheel?
How to bake the maps for all the surface for my game engine? I know how to do it for the card of hairs, here we have to make maps for each hairline or what is your offer?
when i make animation .. the hair not moving with mesh
??
how i solve this problem
Same problem
Hi can we use marmoset with that texture map for the rendering??
Curious if xgen furry character would be suitable for realtime use i.e AR, web game?
how i can sculpt the hair?
Thanks
You are welcome. Thank you for watching!
hiii monica, i wanted to know if i can export xgen interactive groom hair on the object to marmoset??can u tell me is it possible?

guys where we can get uv ?
so can i rig and animate the model with fur ?

you copied your weight for your hair from the surface of skin, then do your skeleton /animation as usually
Everything's fine, thanks, but you need a better microphone.
I love you! (>^~^)>
