I'm team paper pattern. I also always make a working copy of the chart if it's paper or print a pdf.. I've tried working from a pdf but it's just not my jam. Quilting is my first love, so really like seeing all the quilt projects.
I usually buy a pattern and then copy it off for my use so I can highlight the stitches I have put in to try and stay in place. When I am done and it is all marked up from finishing, it goes in the garbage. Love the story about babysitting the dog and cat. Hilarious!! Glad daughter is doing well at settling in in college and son busy with tennis. Keeps Momma busy. Five. 😊
I love doing Hardanger and I can count to five very easily. Love your videos! I have to have a working copy that I can mark off on. When Covid hit and everything was locked down, I was very happy that I had my copies made and ready to go. Usually when I get a new pattern, that’s the first thing I do as I am kitting it up. Chris
I just really love watching you two - so fun! I almost always make a paper working copy. Very often it gets folded in my project bag and I’m ok with that and number 5.
It's always wonderful to watch a video from you ladies. While watching you, I was also busy fully finishing two cross stitched pieces that have been sitting in a bin for well over a year...thanks for the motivation and the company!! I always stitch from a paper pattern, even if it is something I download, I print it out. I don't mark my charts, so if they are easy to read and big enough to see, I use the original, along with a magnetic board and magnetic line keeper and move it as I stitch. More and more, I am enlarging patterns...gotta love getting older! I enlarge and need great lighting for sure. Five does happen to be my favorite number and Carol, I love the way the table of patterns at retreat worked out so well for you....great haul and great friends.
I always make a paper copy of my patterns so I can mark them if I need to. Otherwise I’m a mess! Lol Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us. ❤️
Glad you are back! Missed you! I make a copy and use a highlighter to mark off what I’ve stitched. Kind of like stitching and coloring at the same time!!
I use paper patterns like you two. Thanks for another entertaining video. Congratulations, Jen, on your fair ribbons! I am thinking of doing your temperature chart for next year.
Thank you - it has been a fun one to do - don't think I will do another next year, but will be looking for a similar style of design next time I make one.
Another fun video. I use my phone and take a picture of my chart (or pictures depending on the chart size). Then I work from my phone or tablet. I can enlarge the screen to see the symbols easily. I use the photo edit function to mark off/highlight what I have stitched. I delete these photos when I am done stitching as it could be a copyright issue.
My first time watching you two but it won’t be my last! I so enjoyed your video. I only use paper patterns. I’m happy to purchase pdfs but I print them out in card stock.
Five. Carol, your hair looks stunning in video. I like all the snow people. I like pdf's because i have choices on how to use them, i.e. Pattern Keeper, working copy, etc.
I always use paper patterns. As I tell my nieces and nephews I don't like purchases on a cloud somewhere. Lol. If it's a pattern I think my sister might enjoy I pass it on to her. If I get a PDF, the only way to print it is at work. Love the flosstube! Haha liked the count to five.
Love all the fun things that you guys were working on. Really like all the fun new little patterns that you had received. I like the paper pattern myself. I do print off a lot of PDF patterns from Etsy but I like having the paper pattern to work on. #5. Have a fun two weeks stitching!
Hello...love Carol's math to reach five freebie patterns...use an enlarged paper copy to mark off as I stitch...enjoy you two enjoying each other and sharing your joy of stitchong and quilting...love the quilt❤❤
I much prefer paper patterns. I have stitched some really small designs from my phone, but not my favourite. I definitely only counted 5 ( five ) things in Carol's haul😉. Well done on the first place ribbon for your lighthouse cross stitch piece
Hi there, finally I managed to catch up here. I love to make a copy of my c/s pattern so I can pencil in my progress and keep my original in good condition. These days me and I T don’t get along lol! Best wishes Alison.
Enjoyed your sharing as always! I always always use paper patterns and like others make a copy or two on my printer so I can mark off as I stitch. I also use a magnetic board to hold my pattern. See you next time!
Always enjoy your YT. Your counting to five is old math. hahahaha I use Goodnotes. I take my paper pattern and scan into my computer and download to Goodnotes.
I like to collect paper patterns if I have the choice. For about a year I have been using the Good Notes Ap in my phone. You can either upload a PDF or take a photo of a paper chart. It is then very easy to blow the pattern up and the ap has a marker that allows for marking stitches that are done. If I have my phone in my pocket I always have my patterns with me. There are indeed many ways to count to five. We call it "girl math"
I have only been stitching for about a year and always make/made a working copy of my pattern, for my recent birthday (five plus fifty five) my MIL give me money and I decided I would try an iPad, and its been a game change, I use Good Notes for both cross stitch and knitting. I will still print out a copy to keep with the project.
I wonder what I’ll end up doing when I have more time for me. Now I do paper- make a copy if it’s a larger project … tho I’ve done digital, and like it. Recently I had to scan a pattern and make it digital to enlarge it so I could distinguish the symbols!
Wow! You two had so many beautiful projects!!! I love your quilt, Carol. And the gift for your DIL for Christmas! And the gifts for the tennis team. Jennifer, congrats on your honorable mention awards but especially the 1st place on the lighthouse piece! As always, I love your temperature chart. Take care and can't wait to catch up the next time!
I was just saying that my favorite flosstubes were the mom/daughter teams, and you two were my first❤❤ I miss my Mom! Pollie would have turned 100 her birthday this year❣
Hi ladies. Thank you for the update. Hope your cough goes soon, Carol. Glad the NY transfer went well. Congratulations on your first, Jen. It's a beautiful piece. Lighthouses are so cool. Five! 🤣👍 I buy paper charts when I can and make working copies. If I have to buy PDFs I print a master and a working copy. ⚘️
Ladies, thank you for another fun visit. Your finishes are all lovely. I'm impressed with. you both starting things at a retreat. I love Carol's hair and her counting. It sounded perfect to me. Five is the answer. 😂 I stitch from paper, making a working copy, and I also use pattern keeper for newer patterns. I enjoyed this visit. Thanks again.
If I have a choice, I always prefer Pattern Keeper. If the pattern isn't compatitable, I still use my tablet by taking a photo of the pattern and then I can enlarge the pattern for easier viewing.
I take a photo of my paper pattern with my tablet using Good Notes app and use my tablet pen to mark off what I’ve done. Then I can enlarge it, if needed, which I like. If it’s a small pattern, I might just make a paper copy to mark on.
Beautiful finishes girls! I love, love, love that quilt of the day! Both of you are so talented. TY I prefer to get a paper pattern and make a working copy! I do always shred the working copy when I finish the project. Enjoy all the tennis!!
Love Carol’s justification! LOL! In my mind, whatever works! I use a paper pattern. If I have to mark up, I run a working copy (don’t mark often-old school). I put the pattern on a magnetic board and use magnetic line markers. High 5 to you ladies for great videos!! Happy stitching!❤
I do not buy PDFs. I'm paper only, and I make a copy to mark up. I add the details of the stitch such as start, finish, fabric, and count, and any floss swaps. I sometimes mark progress on my copy. Thanks for the fine video. Happy stitching!
I'm a paper pattern gal. Even when I have to buy a PDF, I print it out ...which I hate to do because it doesn't print out as well as a professionally printed pattern. I only make a working copy when absolutely necessary. And I save all of my patterns too, which I'm sure will drive my kids crazy when they have to figure out what to do with them when I'm gone 😂. Guess I'll have to leave some instructions about freebie tables at retreats 😂. I enjoyed seeing all of the lovely stitching today! Have a great few weeks!
Carol's counting is certainly unique to some, but I know lots of cross stitchers who would agree with her counts. Jen, congrats on your Fair ribbons! I always make a paper copy of my original patterns. I don't necessarily mark them up, but I cut them into smaller sections to clip onto my frame while I stitch. I have to stitch without my glasses, so the chart has to be close enough for me to also see without glasses. Another great flosstube!!
I agree that those were gifts, they do not count. I love all the snowmen patterns!!! I always use paper patterns. I am working in my second Mirabilia and I use markers on them because of the beads. I always enjoy your videos.
I usually use a paper pattern, which is my preferred. I always print out the pdf patterns so there are lots of patterns in my sewing room. Carol, your quilt is beautiful and thangles are so easy to use. Loved seeing all those beautiful finishes and congratulations, Jennifer, on your blue ribbon! Your lighthouse is amazing! Happy Labor Day!
Carol, I love the way you think so five it is! Love all your finishes. I just use the paper patterns, usually I enlarge a section at a time since my eyes are not what they used to be .
Great seeing you both. Love your videos. Stitching, quilts, haul - everything was gorgeous. Funnily enough the one piece of haul I was hoping to get was sold out when I went to check out and that was the 3m wide backings from Missouri Star - one of which I saw you had Carol!! Just saying! I always stitch from a paper pattern which I do photocopy then fold up and attach to my piece with a needle minder. Happy crafting.
As a retired accountant I totally love your math!! As usual I so enjoy watching the two of you interact together :) I am a paper person all the way, I make a working copy so I can mark it up and keep track of where I am. Oh and Five! Looking forward to the next video, take care.
I’m an instant gratification type of person, I almost exclusively buy pdf. I used to try to stitch from my kindle but I’ve found that I like printing them out better.
Great video!! You guys are so busy!! I love the polls - small patterns I stitch from either paper or PDF . Most medium & definitely large patterns I work from a PDF or into R-XP. ❤❤
I MUST have a paper working copy that I can mark up and write notes on. I print out a copy when I start a pattern, cut it out so I can tape it all together so I have the full pattern, and then fold it up to the section I'm working on. Just an FYI here... Mountain Laurel Stitches is a flosstuber who's latest video, is a tribute to her Mom who recently passed away, who was an avid quilter. I think you guys would enjoy all the quilts she shows.
I'm a paper pattern stitcher. I like being able to clearly see the entire small or a decent section of a larger pattern. Plus I write stuff on the pattern, like color changes, what count I used.
Carol, I love your rationale! Five is five & gifts from Jen & friends certainly don't count. I use a copy of my paper pattern. I mark on it & hope I don't screw up. 😂Great flosstube! ❤
Fun video. I laughed a few times. Congratulations on your State Fair entries1 I prefer paper copies. I usually make a working copy of the chart. See you next time!
Your WIPs and FFOs are beautiful, and I had a good laugh over the Christmas one Jen is doing for her friend. I make paper copies of patterns and use coloured pencils to mark off. For more complicated patterns, like Chatelaines, I use pdf and also made some paper copies. There is so much detail that it's very helpful to enlarge those patterns on the computer to figure it all out. Great counting, Carol, and cute hair. Take care, and happy stitching.
Great finishes!! I am definitely a paper/working copy stitcher. Although I have dabbled in using Notes & Goodnotes for a few patterns from magazines. I like the fact that I can zoom & highlight as I go, but don’t like that when I’m using my iPad to stitch - I can’t watch FlossTube.
Hi Carol and Jennifer, wow there was a lot of stitching going on in Indianapolis. I thought I saw some smoke rising when I looked west. And all beautiful stitches. 🌟👏🌟👏🌟 Carol I agree 100% with the tracking of the free kits you acquired. The same thing is going on with Dish here in Dayton. They haven't carried CBS in quite a while and over the weekend I think they said they won't be carrying NBC. I prefer to stitch from a PDF. Happy Stitching. ❤❤❤ Five
I found that when I frogged Week's, it tended to disintegrate. I won't be buying in the future. I love variegated though... Your quilts are your large pieces of art!! That landscape is so interesting! The cover picture doesn't do it justice! The needlework kut you received, I have two from decades ago. I still intend to stitch. They are claw footed bathroom scenes, absolutely adorable ❤ I print and then make a working so I can mark if need be.copy
I like paper patterns. Just started making working copies and coloring in with colored pencils for about the last year and half. Carol love all of your snowmen, I think you were under five. 😂😂😂
I mostly stitch full coverage, so pattern keeper was a game changer. For small patterns I don't mind paper, but I prefer to make a working copy so I can mark it up as I stitch
I counted 5, too, Carol! 🤗 I have the knitting pattern holder and it does work well for cross stitch patterns, too. I prefer a paper pattern and I copy it so I can enlarge it. I need all the help I can get( magnification and good lighting and highlighters and magnetic bars) . Great video, Ladies
I use paper unless it's full coverage. I have to read those on Pattern Keeper. Carol, I just have to tell you that I spent most of the video admiring your lovely hair. Trust me, the flip is absolutely beautiful on you. When y'all started talking about the weather, I had to laugh. I live in the deep south and our temperature today was 102 with 93% humidity. It is now 6:30pm and the temperature is still 94. I have always wondered how it would feel to live in a northern climate.
Thanks for the sweet words on Mom's hair :) - and it feels lovely to live further north - we've had our windows open for a week and it is so lovely! Hope it is starting to cool down to the low 90s for you!
Such a fun video, you two are so talented! It would be hard for me to just choose five too Carol! I think I have become a snowman collector now also! Sooo glad Jenna likes the bookmarks, she can make Christmas gifts! My favorite way to stitch is with a paper copy too, I need to do more working copies so I don’t mark up the originals😬 You guys have a good week, happy belated bday Jen!
Great video! I love watching you two. So many wonderful projects. I prefer paper patterns. I even print out my PDF's. Carol, I get CBS/Paramount for $6.41 a momth so I can watch Blue Bloods. You should look into that. See ya next time. Happy Stitching! Five.
You ladies had a lot of stitching to show! Good for you. I love that red and green design you started, Carol. I'm going to have to go back and write down the pattern. I only stitch from a paper pattern...if it's a pdf I print it off. If it's kind of involved, I make a working copy to mark it up. Happy stitching, quilting, sewing, and knitting! Love your creative math, Carol.
Thank you for sharing!💚 You both accomplished so much! Especially when considering how crazy life has been😊 I stitch with paper patterns. If it is a pdf, I print it off. And I almost always make a photocopy as my working copy. If it is multiple pages, I tape it together into “poster size”. Then fold into sections as I make my way through the project.🤓
Loved seeing all your stitching! I like getting a PDF pattern for instant gratification 😂. But I always make a paper copy of any pattern I stitch and enlarge it….old eyes. So I have a big box of perfectly untouched patterns that I’ve stitched. 🙄
Great video ladies! Beautiful FFO’s Carol! Love both of your new starts. I am a paper user for my patterns. If the pattern is in a book I make a copy, but otherwise I just mark on the regular patterns.
Love seeing all your finishes and WIPs! I am a paper pattern user, but often buy as PDFs then print at home. If a pattern is small enough, I view it on my laptop rather than printing it out.
I'm team paper pattern. I also always make a working copy of the chart if it's paper or print a pdf.. I've tried working from a pdf but it's just not my jam. Quilting is my first love, so really like seeing all the quilt projects.
I like 5 patterns you guys were really cute today.
I usually buy a pattern and then copy it off for my use so I can highlight the stitches I have put in to try and stay in place. Way to go Kathy - hope the FFOs turned out just like you wanted!
I always make a paper copy of my patterns so I can mark them if I need to. Otherwise I’m a mess! Lol
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us. ❤️
Thanks girls! So far all I have done is paper☀️🪡🧵
Usually copy my paper pattern. Good video today!
I use paper charts. Have a great week!
PDF because I don’t have to wait for the mail and I love markup R-so. Happy stitching all.
Glad you are back! Missed you! I make a copy and use a highlighter to mark off what I’ve stitched. Kind of like stitching and coloring at the same time!!
Thanks so much for mentioning my Flosstube today , and also for showing the books you received. So glad I could help the retreat Carol and Jennifer.
We are happy to share Judy - thank you for your generosity!
I use paper patterns like you two. Thanks for another entertaining video. Congratulations, Jen, on your fair ribbons! I am thinking of doing your temperature chart for next year.

I use paper patterns and always make a working copy and highlight as I go
Enjoyed the visit today and all you showed. I am a paper pattern person.
My first time watching you two but it won’t be my last! I so enjoyed your video. I only use paper patterns. I’m happy to purchase pdfs but I print them out in card stock.
Thanks so much for watching and answering our question!
PDF in Pattern Keeper hands down preferred!

I am a recent convert to PDF and the good notes app in my iPad. With a Apple Pencil of course
Paper all the way. I can use the copy to protect my work when my St.Bernard wanders over to see what I am up to. Great episode ladies. Cheers 🍻
I wonder what I’ll end up doing when I have more time for me. Now I do paper- make a copy if it’s a larger project … tho I’ve done digital, and like it. Recently I had to scan a pattern and make it digital to enlarge it so I could distinguish the symbols!

Paper for sure! I also print out PDF patterns too. It’s five o’clock somewhere 🥂 cheers to another great video.
I love Carol's math, 5 is a great number to choose. I always use a paper pattern. Looking forward to the next video.
I was just saying that my favorite flosstubes were the mom/daughter teams, and you two were my first❤❤ I miss my Mom! Pollie would have turned 100 her birthday this year❣
Aww, thank you so much! Glad we make you smile and think of your mom :)
Thanks from sharing ❤ I can go either pay with patterns - I really like color patterns 🎉
I loved your math counting to five!
I always use a paper pattern.
Five 5 I love watching the two of you and seeing all your projects. I mostly use paper patterns.
I’m a paper pattern person. Great video as always.
I make a paper copy of both paper patterns and pdf’s. This way I can mark up what I have stitched. Thanks for all your inspiration.
Hi ladies. Thank you for the update. Hope your cough goes soon, Carol. Glad the NY transfer went well. Congratulations on your first, Jen. It's a beautiful piece. Lighthouses are so cool.
Five! 🤣👍
I buy paper charts when I can and make working copies. If I have to buy PDFs I print a master and a working copy.

I like to purchase paper patterns, and then copy them... Nice update!

I am a paper pattern gal ! My parents had 5 children I’m smack dab in the middle .😊
I take a photo of my paper pattern with my tablet using Good Notes app and use my tablet pen to mark off what I’ve done. Then I can enlarge it, if needed, which I like. If it’s a small pattern, I might just make a paper copy to mark on.

5, my mom was good at “shady math” too 😂
Carol! You and I use the same math system! Five equals A LOT more than 5. 🤣🤣. I like paper and I just use the pattern.
I always use paper and I don't mark it up much. Thanks!
PDFs are my preference, for sure. If I can’t buy pdf, I buy paper, then scan it at home and make it a pdf.
I make a working copy of the pattern and highlight completed stitches. I truly enjoy your videos. thank you.

Carol, I love the way you think so five it is! Love all your finishes. I just use the paper patterns, usually I enlarge a section at a time since my eyes are not what they used to be .
Paper. But big patterns I will copy to tape together and/or mark up. Glad to see you looking so well after the last couple hectic weeks!
Great seeing you both. Love your videos. Stitching, quilts, haul - everything was gorgeous. I stitch with a hard copy.
So I can mark it up
I found some lovely kits on the free table.
Five for 5
I’m an instant gratification type of person, I almost exclusively buy pdf. I used to try to stitch from my kindle but I’ve found that I like printing them out better.

Oh my, what gorgeous work her mom created! I loved them all and I cried during the entire tribute! What a wonderful legacy❤
Thanks for letting us know - I've added her flosstube to my watch next!
I like PDF patterns. I stitch using either Good Notes or Pattern Keeper. Your hair is adorable Carol! As always, enjoyed your FlossTube!! 😀
Paper. Sometimes I copy but I never mark up a pattern. I use a lot of sticky notes to mark my way. Great show.
I'm a paper pattern stitcher. I like being able to clearly see the entire small or a decent section of a larger pattern. Plus I write stuff on the pattern, like color changes, what count I used.
I like using a paper pattern that I have enlarged for easier reading; that way, my original is ready for another gig, if needed.
I normally use pattern keeper
Carol, I love your rationale! Five is five & gifts from Jen & friends certainly don't count.
I use a copy of my paper pattern. I mark on it & hope I don't screw up. 😂Great flosstube! ❤

There is so much detail that it's very helpful to enlarge those patterns on the computer to figure it all out. Great counting, Carol, and cute hair. Take care, and happy stitching.
I prefer to copy the paper patterns and highlight as I go along. This makes it easier for me to focus and count 😊
Love the crab, Jennifer.
They are claw footed bathroom scenes, absolutely adorable ❤
I print and then make a working so I can mark if need be.copy
I like paper patterns. Just started making working copies and coloring in with colored pencils for about the last year and half. Carol love all of your snowmen, I think you were under five. 😂😂😂
I mostly stitch full coverage, so pattern keeper was a game changer. For small patterns I don't mind paper, but I prefer to make a working copy so I can mark it up as I stitch
I counted 5, too, Carol! 🤗
I have the knitting pattern holder and it does work well for cross stitch patterns, too. I prefer a paper pattern and I copy it so I can enlarge it. I need all the help I can get( magnification and good lighting and highlighters and magnetic bars) .
Great video, Ladies
It sounds like you had a great time at retreat! I'm glad your drop off went well!
Thanks Helen - we did have a good time :)
I'm a paper person & use a working copy in case of marking up. Great video.
Just to let Carol know…..Going to Pieces Quilt Company has the cutest quilt pattern called Chilling with My Snowmies.
Too cute!! Thanks for telling me. Just don’t tell Jen!! 😂😂😂
@@carolvictory7789 It will be our secret!
The kit is on its way!
I use Mark-R XP. I prefer electronic patterns.
Paper patterns preferred and often make a working copy. 🪡🪡🪡
Such a fun video, you two are so talented! It would be hard for me to just choose five too Carol! I think I have become a snowman collector now also! Sooo glad Jenna likes the bookmarks, she can make Christmas gifts!
My favorite way to stitch is with a paper copy too, I need to do more working copies so I don’t mark up the originals😬
You guys have a good week, happy belated bday Jen!
Thank you Karen and thanks again for sending the bookmark kits for Jenna!
Haha, I want to see one of your giant posters!
