Very helpful Simon, thanks. I just did both sides and worked perfectly. 1st time mirrors have worked since my wife owned the car and she’s had it 6 years. Only thing, I did one side digging out like you and a bit of one leg snapped so I used a small drill on the other side really carefully so as not to go to deep and this worked much better for me. Thanks for your great video it gave me the confidence to have a go.
Hi Andy, thanks for the feedback. To be honest since I made that video I did change my technique a little. I bought a dremel which made it so much easier to get the glue out, but it mean't dust went everywhere. Anyway, glad you managed to get your mirrors working once again.

nicely done, done loads of these myself. I do it the same way but I snip the fuse head off just before I dig it out between the legs..
steve b yeah I’ve done hundreds of repairs all over the world, I didn’t realise it was such a common problem.

Hi thanks for that, but can you change the Sides of this Moduls from the reigt to the left mirrow?
The specs for the poly fuses are:
RXEF030 XF030 72V 0.3A 300MA PPTC Resettable Fuse
These can be bought in bulk from places like eBay.

Hi. Just watched your video and very good and clear. I have one question I purchased a complete SOD of eBay and just come to fit it all works but when mirror folds in other folds out and vice versa. Would the fuse have been wired up wrong way round? Many thanks.

Hi Leroy, the fuses can be bought on eBay but you tend to only get them in large amounts. I still sell the fuses if you are interested at £1.80 per fuse incl postage to UK mainland. Message me if you are interested.
Hi very good video but I was wondering when you solder the new fuse dose it not make difference which legs you solder the legs a positive or negative. side's
Hi Balbir, this my thoughts when I first started doing this but the fuses are reversible.
Would it not be less stressful on the legs if, when you are about to remove the filling from between them, to snip off the head of the fuse, then dig it out from between the remaining legs. Thus eliminating any pressure on them?
Hi, upon some repairs I have found the legs burnt and snapped deep in the glue. Doing it this way saves the hassle in having to do the repair twice incase this is the case.

Hi, if the mirror isn’t folding at all then there is a good chance this repair will solve it. You should be able to tell as soon as the remove the SOD and see it’s condition.

Hi Simon i have an issue with my mirrors where they actually fold out too much basically it doesnt stop at the correct point. Do you think i might have the issue with the SOD or something else?
Hi Darrell, the issue you’re having sounds like a broken stop pin. The mirror has a plastic pin that basically stops the mirror from folding too far in itself. I’ve never repaired this fault or know if it can be repaired, could be a new mirror.

why not just crush the old one then solder new one to remaining pins simple
This is what i thought, just waiting for my fuses to come in the post.
you could but the fuse would stick out too much and the mirror cap could hit it when putting it back on...
steve b I have a mk8 civic but I. Have a different sod with different plugs my mirror only moves about an inch or so when button pressed on passanger side could you repair my sod ?
harry sabin the Mk8 SOD does come in a couple of variations, the ones that the fuse cannot be seen I don’t think can be repaired, is this like yours?
