  • In this video, I show you how I install a riser, or platform for your existing toilet, giving you an extra 3 1/2inches of height. This is a great alternative to buying a brand new handicap toilet. It's great for people with disabilities, hip or knee surgery or really tall people that find it hard to squat that low on a normal sized toilet.

    As always I appreciate you watching and leaving comments to let me know if this helped you out in the installation you do.

    Great video. Clear and simple. Thanks for making this!
    Going to install one for my 97 year old and get rid of the crummy thing that currently sits on top of the toilet seat!

      You're welcome and good luck with it! I haven't heard anything bad from my client about it yet, so sounds like it is pretty good.

    I use a wet/dry shopvac to remove excess water

    Excellent video, especially for someone who has never removed a toilet before. I'm exploring alternatives for raising the toilet seat for my father, and this has the advantage of not messing with the seat itself and thereby introducing new cleaning problems or seat stability problems. I might even be able to do this.

      Good luck with it! I will definitely be putting this in my house when the time comes too. I always find it challenging and a little awkward using the restroom in other people's home that have that 4 inch seat thing on it. Ya know what I mean?

    Spot on video!
    When I do my home toilets this is my usual method for draining. Still learning the handyman stuff as I go and this isn’t a suggestion about doing it another way at home/families home; one thing I learned about toilet work for customers/strangers is many people are not ashamed at all...even when they should be! Lol, no cleaning at all! I learned really quick to use a siphon with a bulb to start the suction and eventually went straight wet/dry vacuum. I don’t know how full time plumbers do it.

      That is a great suggestion John. I will definitely have to keep that in mind next for sure. Thanks for the tip and the comment!

    Awesome product. I'll have to keep it in mind for when I find it more challenging to get up from the throne. Thanks!

      Thanks Andrew! No need to drain yourself searching for the joke, it will plop out some time.

    I had a septic tank guy come out and one toilet was not flushing correctly, he used a Wet/Dry shop vac to get the water out of the tank and bowl... Just a new thing I learned, thought I would pass it on.

    Hello, I have a 1957 standard toilet with 4 bolts. Will this work on my toilet with 4 bolts ? Thank you

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  6 місяців тому

      I'm not 100% sure, but I'm gonna say no. The new deep flange that comes with it only uses the 2 bolts. Can't say I've actually ever seen a 4 bolt toilet.

    Dude!! Thanks for sharing this great product. The voice over proves you have a face for radio 😁! My wife reads a persons skull, she says you have a long successful life ahead. Also, stay away from those roller dogs down at the gas station.🌭!

      @@TheBeardedWoodworker curious if you 1 have installed any more of these&all your successful noggin's knowledge thus far-tips,don't do's etc,also I am a Massage Therapist with a lineage of tactile professions so I am now learning to repair stuff myself-patience is def. a virtue-tee hee. ok so placing this on a tiled floor in an old building with OLD a** plumbing...not telling landlord who lives above me-bad idea?!! well this is partly the reason I wanna do on my own in a rental- my landlord's being taken advantage of by his "plumber" who I caught checking my kitchen sink drip&saying "oh lets wait until this gets worse". are you freaking kidding me..everytime he leaves its $$&same issue back same day or so which makes it VERY hard to tell landlord anymore cuz I always fear being blamed! $450 to fix the bathtub drips but later that night drip came back&now it only takes about 5 hours to fill the cast iron tub from the drip mofo supposedly "fixed" for $450! Anyway thank you for posting&I worked in the film biz for many years with dear friends still in it and lots of voice-over talent too!! Shoot one of my girls has been at it since 89&she is the Queen and I can never tell it's her cuz she can morph fairly well!! that IS the talent sought....you can get more gigs from different comapnies&agencies. OneLove! Namaste!

      Hey Laurie, sorry for late response. I've only installed this one and I haven't heard back from my client witha NY issues yet. It is so tricky with landlords and all, but if the floor is a level tiled floor, and you deposit isn't too bad I say go for it. Only if it's a house rental. I wouldn't try it in an apartment. I can't believe some of the plumbers and contractors out there now a days ripping people off, and not doing the right thing. It's so irritating! Sorry you are going through this.
      It's kinda cool you were in the industry, and awesome that you friend is still going strong as a voice over actor. Do you have any advice for someone that would like to get in the business? Thanks! And good luck with the toilet!

    You did such an excellent job with this video. So detailed. You make it look easy. Not quite confident enough in my skills here. Looking for a good handy man or plumber to do this. How much time would you estimate it takes to do this job? I have no idea how much I should expect to be charged to do this. Any help here?

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  3 роки тому

      Thank you! If you provide the lift kit, I can't imagine it would take a qualified plumber or a handyman no more than an hour. There are some incidents that might occur that would make it take longer, like rusty bolts or stubborn caulking around the toilet, but a pretty easy job all in all. Handyman would probably be cheaper, but I'm just guessing. Good luck!

    I bought one of these but have not yet gotten it installed. I was concerned that it's plastic. My plumber was also concerned. After putting the toilet on it with water, it could be over 100lbs. And then with an additional 100+, can the plastic hold that weight? If it has just a little crack created by installation, I would expect it to not be safe. Thoughts?

    Awesome video! Awesome beard! Question for you. We just put new flooring in and our flange now sits too high off the ground. We want to avoid having to break up our flooring to lower the flange. Would this be a good work around for a high flange?

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  4 роки тому

      Hey, thanks Man! I'm not a plumber, just a Handyman and this is the first time I've installed this product. I wish I could tell you that it would work or not, but I'm just not sure. The spacer that connects the toilet to the flange is on size, so I think it is made to work on an existing toilet that fits properly. Perhaps you can ask the manufacturer and see what they say. I don't know. Sorry, I wish you luck and I understand you not wanting to go through all that mess.

      no stool would remedy WHY we want bowls higher-ppl are taller in last 100 years and stuff is still being made for shorter ppl....also with a 16-19" floor to top of bowl and being 5'8" it feels like you are free falling to seated position....also a raised bowl means men over 5'5" are better at hitting the target area...all in all ALL bowls standard height should be at least 20" and all bathrooms should have urinals...tee hee. In my future home I will have a jucuzzi HUGE tub with jets everywhere,a taller commode with a efficent &no mess bidet& a dang urinal!! whoot whoot!!

      @TheBeardedWoodworker  2 роки тому

      Lol! Yes... I agree! Try being 6'5" and going to squat down on the 17 incher. 😊 When I remodeled our bathroom, I found the tallest one at (I think) 21". It's worked out quite nice. Thanks!
