"I can tell you which is probably going to go on my mouth first.... BOTH" --- you two never seem to fail in making make me laugh so hard everytime I watch your videos.
***** Haha, glad to hear! -Eric
1080p60FPS looks SOO good.
Biff T Awesome, glad to hear! -Eric
Stellar production! There's never a dull moment in your vids. I find Japan to be so incredibly fascinating. It's fun to watch your exploration of it. Eric, you remind me so much of my High School friend "Old Sport". Cheers guys!!!
SwillinGrog Thanks! I hope "Old Sport" is a good dude. -Eric
Ive been watching your videos for ages and im coming to Japan for the first time in 3 weeks! I'm so excited! :D
Emma Hallows Have a good time! -Kyde
Great video as always. I actually never tried oyakodon, but I'll keep an eye out the next time !
Francisco Araújo Yea, you gotta give it a go! -Eric
Hi guys again! New food time! Love watching your food exploration :-) You guys should go to some sweet shops and show the delicious parfaits(hope i spelled that correctly...lol) and sweets in Japan
mrreddragon0000 Thanks! We've totally had parfaits before. Big bowls of cornflakes with sweet stuff. Not bad! -Eric
The building is playing the same as the play on food. They went all out with the theme.
Great videos, guys!
Diego Reyes Thanks!
I have been there 3 years ago but didn't get chance to enter. Will certainly visit someday in the future.
Thanks for introduction!
Wow, that looks amazing! I've had oyakodon in a restaurant in Cardiff (Wales, UK) and it was literally the best food ever. I've tried making it at home a few times, I even bought expensive imported ingredients, but I just can't get that taste right. :'( You probably need a certain percentage of Japanese heritage to make it taste just right, hahaha.
Sam Brooks Haha, yea, maybe! It is an incredible dish. Japanese have masted eggs, to say the least. -Eric
Looking forward to your next video guys abd hope to see some more rice cooker recipes haha!
Great job as usual.
***** Thanks! -Eric
Seeing your video pop up in my sub box just made my day :D
Coop Johnson Yay!
You guys are funny. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks.
ZeroWolfLuke Thanks!
I thoroughly enjoy the old Pixar-like bloopers at the end! And thumbs up for respecting people around you whilst filming. Many vloggers would have shown the fallout from that poor woman's...er, fall, but you two kept it classy.
Arturo Garcia Yea, if I had panned to her out of instinct there is no way I would have kept it in the video. Can't show some old lady getting hurt, that's not ok! Glad you enjoy the bloopers, they are some of my favorite parts too! -Eric
Wow.
Such egg.
Many Rice.
Very taste.
Wow.
Kyde seems very happy in this video, she’s such a foodie! Fun dinner you guys.
Thanks for the info guys we will try it !!!!! As we will be there in April !!!! Thanks so much !!!!!!
astroboy3507 Awesome, enjoy! -Eric
you two are awesome , keep up the good work.
Jay Waugh Thanks! -Kyde
Hi Kids, I LOVE your videos. Watching you always brightens my day! You have such a zest for life it does my heart good watching your adventures. Stay the lovable real people you are. God Bless & safe journeys.
loved this video 😁, but it also made me miss Japan 😞
only kidding, keep up the great work guys!!!!!!
+Cooking with Chef Dai Thanks! Will do! -E
Yum! I love oyakodon. It's actually really easy to make at home.
I know a place you guys should hit up in Ueno if you like a grungy atmosphere but good food (and when I say grungy, I mean table tops balanced on milk crates).
MelCanJapan Looks awesome, I'm gonna try to hit it up sometime. -Eric
Long vlogs were good but i love the up to date 10 min ones far more!!
Ryan Connell Glad you enjoyed it, we will try to keep doing a mix of long and short videos. -Eric
And here I was wondering what I should make for dinner tonight! You two are awesome :)
Ken williams Did you make it? Was it good? -Eric
You bet! And thanks to my weight loss surgery I got to eat it for the next two days ;)
Kyde and Eric thank you for posting your videos, i love watching your random adventures, have you guys ever thought about having a live stream show for Q&A?
Ohhhhh you guys always are on food! And now it's like 4 in the morning and made me a hungry hungry hippo!
Ricardo Llamas Get a snack!
Thanks for this suggestion! Not too far from my hotel, so I will try it out when I come to Tokyo ^_^
Chanel Brown Yea, definitely hit it! Good stuff! -Eric
This is bucket list check box 1 for me!
Joel Santiago An easy one to check once you are in Japan! -Eric
Awesome Culinary outing. So many restaurants in Japan with deep history! Do more like this :) I realize these kind of vids take more time, but, imo this is better than the fast food vids. Judging by the views though, many people seem to enjoy those too. You guys should try some famous ramen, soba, yakitori, or other Japanese favorites. Have you heard of Ivan Ramen? I saw this place on the show Mind of a Chef. (it's foreigner run, not traditional, but looks interesting)
EDIT: ehh some reviews say Ivan is overrated, and not worth the price. Maybe try some other more acclaimed destinations first..
Ultros Tako Never tried Ivan Ramen, but there is no shortage of ramen places to try, that's for sure. We prefer eating food like this over fast food too! -Eric
Oh man! 1080p60! Thank you guys!
Jacob Foster You're welcome! -Eric
Thanks will definitely try it next time I am in Tokyo. Love Oyakodon! Any difference in the lines between weekend or weekday or dinner vs lunch?
JTT C No idea, we only went during a Sunday. -Eric
wow Kyde and Eric I just love you guys and you looks like you would be so fun to hang out with. I have been watching you for a few months now and just now figured out how to comment. so keep on the keeping on. Please do a show in akihabara.
Carteris7 Thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos! Akihabara has shown up in our videos here and there, the most obvious example would probably be our "Video Games in Japan" video. Give that a look! -Eric
I've never had that before. Will try it next time I visit. Oh and props to you guys for knowing DOGE, much wow, such video.
touchmenot films Nice, hope you get a chance to go there. Much delicious. -Eric
Awesome! Thanks for sharing:) What dog on the internet were you talking about?
google "doge 9gag"
is it weird that a fan like me has grown too used to your guys' voices, to stop watching? ;_; love me!
waspisu Hahaha, nah, it's cool! I have the same attachment to some people on UA-cam! -Eric
just subbed. Looking forward to watching more and seeing your adventures. How long have you been over in Japan? Glad that lady was ok.
have a brilliant night. Sue
therealBRITSofNY Hi, thanks for enjoy the videos and subscribing! We have been in Japan for about three and a half years now! -Eric
YEES NEW video
Mmm That bowl looked so good. I had to go eat!! Glad to see Kyde Introduce the video!! & That reaction!! Kyde almost looked like she was going!! to go iron man and save the falling lady! The look in her face said it all. Eric!! Always eating! With a smile!! Ur supposed to drink anything your given. E. ^_^!!
lol beware of the MOLESTERS! LMBO!!!!!!!!!!
Kyde's reaction to the woman falling is foreshadowing of when she saved the life of the man on the river path near Asakusa.
Tamahide is so famous!! I wanna go ~~
+9kodama999 Yea, its so good! -Eric
I like your videos.
+fate241 Thanks!
Love watching your videos! I think you guys should go to Fuji-Q Highland next ^_^ pretty please..... Haunted hospital is a must.
LadyCEboshi We hit up Fuji-Q- Highland last year with some friends, it was incredible. We want to go back to make a video, hopefully we get the chance. -Eric
Damn that looked good. The restaurant reminds me of a place I get ebi tendon in Asakusa called Daikokuya. If you guys like shrimp tempura, I recommend you guys try it. BTW, where is this restaurant?
What part of Tokyo is Tamahide and how do you get there? Looks awesome. Btw did you check out Tonki yet?
JTT C No, we haven't but I have seriously had it on my to-do list for months. Tamahide is near Tokyo Station, we just walked from the station but there are closer Metro stops I think. Here's a map: goo.gl/nZLG7k
Good on Eric not filming that poor women falling over, Food looks amazing, and so does the video with 60fps. Keep up the videos you two!
When you were talking about the sign the video quality was amazing ...did you get a new camera? :)
NordicNicklas Denmark No, UA-cam recently improved the playback quality of videos! Yay! -Eric
Hi Eric and Kyde ! Did you guys try out the restaurant chain "Hanbey" ?
This is a restaurant that has been in Japan since world war 2.The good part is about the restaurant is the ambiance that it offers ,pretty much World War 2 era.
The one i visited was at Shinjuku ,would be glad if you guys could shoot there too .
abhishek gupta Oh neat, looks good! Never been there but it looks cool and pretty cheap! -Eric
My thought process: Chicken and egg... ooooh! I get it!
Thanks for the history of the restaurant. I'm always fascinated by businesses that have been in families for generations. It seems like such an achievement. Though I wonder about the kids born into it. Do they feel like their lives are set for them? (I know, I think too much.)
Yesica1993 It's somewhat common for the oldest son in Japan to be "born into" a business if it is family held, so while I agree with you it might be a bit odd it's not unheard of in Japanese society. -Eric
maurice lindsay
It goes both ways, it is typically also the responsibility of the first son to take care of the aging family as well as the business. This is not something everyone wants to be solely responsible for these days as people tend to want to explore their own ambitions for a career path instead of having their life laid out for them by their ancestors. I know women here who won't date oldest sons because they don't want to deal with being tied so tightly to his parents. Point being, it's not always a plus to be the oldest. -Eric
I mean it's a cup ur suppose to drink from cup right? And what eles is everyone doing , are they spooning the soup or drinking it from
The cup? Or pouring it in. Let me know
Freddy Lon I tried to watch other people, but never caught what they were doing with it. I have a feeling we were supposed to pour it on the oyakodon, actually...but I'm still not sure. -Eric
1080p60 looks really good! About the sign, is the area well known for maiko/geishas? I think the "sweat droplet" was to show maybe she was nervous or with anxiety?
thebrutekissofjudas I don't think the area is known for geisha. You're probably dead on about the tear...but explain the cellphone! Haha. -Eric
Kyde and Eric Call for help for maybe?
Is there an emergency number on the sign or anywhere?
lbonini1gaming Nope!
That's really bizarre then.
BTW; with 1080p 60FPS, I can now see every pore on Eric's face, yay! Just kidding, seriously though, great quality!
ahhh I will be there at the end of the month and I will be in that line!
Ghostkat Curio Nice, enjoy! -Eric
I think a food UA-cam channel would be nice
Vashawn Brown I'm sure there are already some of those. We will continue to put videos about food up now and then here though. -Eric
compared to yaiyoken, which one is better?
kluvbit I think this one is better, but Yayoiken is much more accessible and affordable. -Eric
That looks really good, especially since I'm on an egg kick of late. I didn't come across oyakodon when I was visiting Japan despite all my new food experiences.
If you introduced Kyde to Doge 4:36 she might also enjoy Weebl's tribute to it...
Doge Adventure : animated music video : MrWeebl
ikaruseijin01 Yea, I've been loving eggs too! I saw this video a while back, nice. -Eric
Glorious 60 frames per second! Praise GabeN!
Jaafar Kaoussarani Isn't it lovely? -Eric
Kyde and Eric Yes. Yes it is.
Oh yeah, and I'll be visiting Japan soon. Could you give me an address of sorts? this looks awesome!
Jaafar Kaoussarani This should get you there: 1-17-10 Nihonbashiningyocho, Chuo, Tokyo 103-0013, Japan
Kyde and Eric Thank you so much guys!
As soon as Eric lifted the cover....I said "MmmmmmmmmMmmmMmmm!"
ThreeOldDudes MMMmmmmmm.
"How would I know, I'm the other foreigner"
;)
Noatak Kenway "Silly foreigner"
Would you guys ever go to one of the Japan UA-cam meet ups?
Joseph Boyer We wouldn't avoid them, but we haven't been invited to meet anyone. -Eric
Wow!
Oh my god, Kyde's face when that woman slipped. She was ready to spring into action though, hahaha.
Dun-Da-Ra-Ra KYDE TO THE RESCUE!
Ok I'm done, but seriously though that scared me and I didn't even see what happened.
lbonini1gaming Yea, the sound was jarring to say the least! -Eric
She's a certified life saver now--this is just foreshadowing :-)
Taiwan has something a little similar, but it's made with fresh oyster... Not many people eat that with rice though. They also put like this sweet and spicy red sauce on top of it. One of my favorites. Owa jian (pronunciation) = oyster omelet
rr33463 Oh my gosh, I don't know if I'd try that...the oysters scare me. -Eric
Just out of morbid curiosity, what actual words were used in the warning sign against molesters? The 2 I'm most familiar with are "chikan" and "hentai", which translate AFAIK as like "groper" and "pervert", but I think the kanji in that sign look like 痴漢, which would be chikan.
Joe Blow In this case it was chikan. It's actually really common to see such signs, they just don't usually have that artwork with them. -Eric
More Japanese cuisine please!
Yay!
the sweat drops means she's anxious and uncomfortable. And she's shown holding her phone like to call the police or help.
Good god 60FPS vids run so smooth.
Temuulen Gansukh Yea, isn't it amazing? -Eric
Hello, someone mentioned Tonki and you said it is on your to-do list . Don't be taken aback the moment you enter the restaurant, you get asked 「ヒレ or ロース which do you choose?」.Many Japanese say Tonki's katsu is less fatty than tonkatsu should be .Taste-wise Tonki is not No.1 tonkatsu in tokyo ,still visiting it is an enjoyable experience in many ways.FYI current most praised tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo is Narikura in takadanobaba.
nakano atoll Ok, sounds good! Maybe we should try both! -Eric
玉ひでの親子丼はおいしいですよね~♪
But, I'm satisfied enough with 7-11's 親子丼 :p
mop09drg It's fun to try the classy jam though! -Eric
1080p 60FPS Oyakodon goodness!
Lord Barker Yes! Thank the UA-cam gods! -Eric
Thumbs up for tasty food! And double thumbs up for the Doge mention! Love it.
drmlabs Glad you enjoyed! -Eric
you and your hubby reminds me of zombie apocalyptic film 28 days later
Sitting with strangers = 相席
Pretty common practice actually.
I'll be in Kyoto in February~ Maybe we will cross paths =)
***** It is common to sit with strangers, but usually as super crowded "fast food" noodle shops or something, not a place where a bowl of food is $15! It was still a good experience though! -Eric
Oh my goodness, a food that I know I will like in Japan!!!! I don't eat red meat or pork, and have a extremely case of lactose intolerance. Then add they always put kiwi next to strawberries which ate my favorite. I am deathly allergic to kiwi. Like but out the epi pen kind. The proteins in it are similar to the ones in Latex. Which but out the epi pen time for that. I am a bit like Eric on my sea food. I love fish prepared but not eyes heads strange thing that look all creepy, plus sadly I don't think I am allowed to eat sushi because my immune system sucks. I was starting to picture a life of rice, noodles, fruits and veggies. A lot of the soups use meat bases. I do love beans. I have heard it is rude to ask too much about the dish or seem too picky or something. How do you deal with those type of settings?
I have watched a ton of.your awesome videos. I meant to comment on each, but I think i was on tour play list cause it kept skipping forward. You all are an awesome couple and so just well awesome to each other. I hope one day to have that even though I am already almost 36. I can dream right. :) I love to see your adventures through you alls honest thoughts not some fake perfect thing. I will try my best to donate as soon as I can. I one day really hope to live there. From what I have seen it is very hars.with out a bachelor's degree right? I also was working on registered nursing, but didn't know if you had to go to their certified nursing schools. Which with out a visa I don't think I can do. It is a hard program here so some has to count. It's about 1.5 to 2 years of pretty hard prerequisites. Then it's very hard to get accepted here with out all A's. Then it's 2 years of nursing school. Each semester adds about full 14 hours of practical experience and then all your regular nursing courses. I have been looking for info on the matter but have not found out much. Sorry this is so long. From what I can tell the best way is to just have a bachelor's then work as an alt through JET, limited time, or adarak? Or or something which can be tedious but can't be long term. Plus have you heard there will a reform in 2019 I believe where they will make a law that English has to be an official subject. Then I am thinking you can also apply for other jobs there with the experience and stuff? Is thst kinda how it works unless your on a spousal visa. I heard almost every English Speaking country and then Sweden and Norway can get a traveling/ work visa which comes with the National Health Care insurance. For some reason I believe Americans can not get that visa. Ok I seriously typed too much, especially for a food video. THANKS SO MUCH for sharing your lives with all of us. Please be safe, you in my thoughts and heart. 😊👦👧💑💖✌
Michelle Brovey Hi Michelle, getting work here outside of the teaching industry is possible but is somewhat difficult unless you have extraordinary Japanese. Your best bet would be to work on a 4 year degree of some sort and then look into finding work as an ALT in Japan. But if you haven't visited yet, I'd highly recommend a trip here before making all those life changes! Hhaa. Glad you like our videos! -Eric
Would it be considered bad manners to ask for "tabasco" sauce and add it to the Oyakodon?
+Octavio Navarro It wouldn't be bad manners, but I don't know if they would have it. Give it a try! -Kyde
I am a Japanese and sorry to say this that they would definitely be offended if you add some flavor like salt, pepper and especially tabasco to it because you don't look satisfied with and even ruin the food which they make.
Though I personally think it is fine everyone has different tastes.
so is this like a breakfast food in Japan
Omer Hasa Not really a breakfast food, more of a lunch or dinner thing. -Eric
Good and okey
That Oyakodon restaurant is as packed as a circus!
scallions.. not scalli-OHNs lol is it that hard to pronounce?
It's an inside joke about another UA-cam channel. -Eric
what were you suppose to do with soup anyway WTH!?
Thanks for waiting in line because that's one thing I will not do. San Francisco loves waiting for food. Like Mama's on Washington Square in North Beach people wait 2 hours.
B.J. Martin haha, Japanese people have a national hobby of waiting in lines for food! -Eric
Yes, San Francisco are crazy too ;). The lines add up because it gets a following and also known internationally. We have restaurants to wait to get in the wait list, lol.
my stomach growling.. oyakodoonn...
There's a huge line of people waiting. Eat and get the hell out so others can eat.
You must have missed the empty seat directly next to us in a majority of the shots. -E
I know you guys like long videos and buck the trend, but note the #views for this short one !
haha, but look at the views of these videos. imgur.com/0IY4Kr3
Length does not correlate to views with the data we have, and people support our videos on Patreon because they see value in longer videos. Without that support we wouldn't even be able to make videos, so we have a very difficult balance we must try to strike.
That said, we are working on a new idea.
-Eric
Who decides on the thumbnail pic :D
Allen M We usually pick it, but sometimes UA-cam picks a good one automatically. -Eric
Can you make some horror move? Like "Kyde and Eric in ..... NORTH KOREA" ? :)
***** We have totally thought about going to NK, but I think it would be difficult to properly document and we don't feel morally at ease with paying so much to the regime for the visas, etc. It would be a wild experience, though. -Eric
I think someone must have inclined to the shouji backward Kyde and torn it, when he/she was relaxed.
jaime0 I am so confused by your comment, did I forget about something in this video? Hahaha. -Eric
When I sit on the tatami floor, I am relaxed very well and like to lean against the wall back.
By the way, have you eaten ever an Ishiyakiimo? You can cook it on "oven mode" of a microwave (denshi renji). It's so good in this cold season.
jaime0
Haha, we sure have! Next time I hear the little yakimo truck go by I want to make a video about it! -Eric
I'm sure you're supposed to drink it! But you'll never know... damn gaijins! : )
COSMIC GILLIAN I still don't know! -Eric
im gonna marry kyde and eric!
waspisu Orly?
腹減った・・・・^^。
I'm scared of eating Japanese food in japan cause im scared of offending anyone with the way i eat iy
Ask for a straw with your ramen! -E
食い物ごときにびびってんじゃねぇぞ!
Nobuhisa Ishii Shut up
Lol
I'm sad as a vegan that there can't be a substitute for me. :(
Just don't be a vegan.
Vojislav Belic You live life your way. I'll live it mine. BTW I don't want to be preachy, but before you chow down on your next chicken or beef meal, try going through a chicken slaughter house or a beef abattoir. See if it enhances your appetite or not.
***** It actually does enhance my appetite. And whats the point of getting a substitute for a meal if it doesn't taste the same?
***** This specifies vegetarian, but it applies to vegan too. If you're concerned about the welfare of animals, read this, and thing about the fact that if we were all vegan, we probably wouldn't have cows, chickens or any farm animal. There'd be no need for them.
www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/ordering-vegetarian-meal-there-s-more-animal-blood-your-hands
Vojislav Belic Well, bon appetite, my friend. I guess I'm just not turned on by eating dead flesh. Btw some substitute meals can be far more creative than the originals and can taste better too, but if that's not your thing then just keep getting turned off on the idea that your meal is enhanced by the suffering which is one of its main ingredients.
Ha, 8:45 痴漢注意 (beware of pervert)
This video really bored the living shit outta me..
We have hundreds more to bore you with! -E
Thanks, I think this one did the trick...
Such silly. Much foreigner.
You made Kyde giggle when I think she needed it. Thanks! -Eric
I LOVE the 60fps uploads! Please more of these!
cfhstyo They should all be like this in the future! -Eric
