Nice like bro

boomer reframes politeness, open mindedness, and tact as “ego management” so that the zoomers can understand lol

luke smith has always been a philosophy channel. only a lame egoer would miss the nuance.
This is a "boomer explains 4chan memes in a somewhat normie-friendly way" channel.
to a philosophy channel, to a linguistics channel
Making people feel bad and embarrassed is part of my identity and I feel bad and embarrassed that you've criticised it.
One of the most important life skills you can have is the ability to operate a safety belt
I like how you put your seatbelt on, then just put it behind you
Yeah, real clever.
Design vs. User Experience

Luke manages his own ego so well that he knows the body is merely transient and as such he needs no need for such things as seat belts :^)

Agreed mostly, although some people need to get their ego stomped on occasionally. There's a line between being a reasonable person and passively encouraging delusion; having someone in your good books isn't worth it if they're actively undermining what you're trying to accomplish.
“Man is not worried by real problems so much as by his imagined anxieties about real problems”
“It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”
“If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid.”

@u001 why even bother replying if you have not read buddhist literature. You're only impressing 12 year olds. Read the lotus sutra. There is a buff chad dad in one of the first story.
"Don't rid somebody of an illusion if you can't replace it with another" is one of my favourite Nassim Taleb quotes
Luke you got it wrong. You should look up how serbian police put their seatbelts on. You got to put it on behind your seat and then sit in the car
And print a seatbelt strip on all your shirts.
#SeatBeltsSaveLives, this is a really good channel yet I have barely any time to look through everything.
Same here.
isn't this just having general discussion skills?
Well yes, but with the way internet communication is castrated of all nuance, people have forgotten what a real discussion is like.
Free software thought leader explains how to be a normie but in 4chan lingo. Being a decent, functioning member of society is only cool if you do it ironically.
Even those who don't use the internet suffer from this it seems. Like those girls who have all that attitude. The cringe on Twitter is merely a reflection of that. Although it probably makes the problem worse.
...and very few have them

the people with the biggest ego's talk about how they had an ego death because they took acid and watched a JRE clip, and are still exactly same
i like the message of the video basically don't have an egotistical obsession with something but instead have a healthy one
One important rule for ego management is to have enough ego to not need validation of others. One might call that self esteem, but I think these two are different things. Words are so hard and limiting, another thing where David Lynch was spot on.
I feel like this is just a symptom of not having a 'real life' tribe, if you have some hobby like going to the gym regularly you're probably going to identify as a gym bro of some sort, however if you don't really have any group you can connect with on something tangible your tribe will be something more like a video game, music genre, political affiliation etc., I feel like the people whose tribe isn't one of those things you'll mostly find on the internet are probably less likely to strongly identify with silly things

Giving out genuinely good advice while putting seatbelt behind your back. :(
Thats just like in minecraft, when that Enderman stole a dirtblock on my potato patch, I got so offended. Now after runescape man's speech, Iam gonna chill out when that will happen again.
When you said 'frameworks' I had Jreg flashbacks

Isn't continuously criticizing todays society (and its consequences) part of your identity or ego? I think that this applies to both those who are continuously defensive of ideas and those who are continuously critical

6:12 there's a friend of mine that was always telling me "Ahahah your thinkpad sucks, thinkpad is shit" thinking I got offended by that ahah and since then we always "offends" each other with those things in a friendly and funny way, like I tell him "You're enslaved by corporations" and he tells me "Open Source sucks" and thing like that. We insult each other in every possible offensive way and that's just beautiful, when I am with a persons I insult them so I can see if someone gets offended or not, it's a good parameter to find funny people to stay with
