For many who are not familiar with Korean language, the following words are often misheard and misunderstood. When trying to understand a language that is not native to you, it’s easy to mistake a word or two for something else.
    Nega, Naega, Niga….
These words when sang or rapped in KPop or KHipHop are often mistaken for THE N-word.
Ne-ga (네가) means ‘You’ and Ni-ga (니가) is very informal version with same meaning. Nae-ga (내가), which means ‘I’, sounds almost same as ‘Ne-ga (You).
Nurga (Neoga) is much more smoother than Niga. Usually used when you are talking to younger ones to referring you for something that he/she did or said, etc
Nega - I, me. Similar to above and it is used if you are older one to younger one. (e.g. I ate it, I did it, I had it, etc)

Thank you for all your hard work!! I hope Tribe Loui knows that he deserves kindness and respect and positivity on this channel, and any criticism should be constructive! oh nononono, they're not saying n****, they're saying naega(내거) , which means i/i am. it's the same as na, naneun etc.
being on beat is easy, being synchronous is not. there's a difference. i've danced for more than 18 years as a soloist and added a year to dance in a group before i finally quit, just to calm down and prepare for the end.
it's damn hard, cause i suddenly had to adjust, pay attention to the movements of everyone else, how far they move, how wide they go.
we all had different heights, me being the smallest and tiniest person. when you go down, you can't go all the way since everyone else is way taller and it wouldn't look great from afar.
same goes for the tallest in the grp, everyone has to adjust towards each other.
that's where my initial respect and admiration for them came from when i was still biased.

10:30 Early in their career, BTS were known as one of, if not the most, synchronized male group in KPOP.
There are others: peer 3rd Gen group GOT7 were known for athleticism with lots of tricks & stunts in their dancing, SEVENTEEN is also known for their incredible synchronized choreo. (esp. for 13 members), 2nd Gen group SHINEE were one of the pioneers of tightly synced, highly professional choreography, etc.
That said, even among peers who were known for their abilities & in a nation known for collective hard work, BTS still stood out for their synchronization & work ethic. We've known that Performance Director Son Sung-Deuk trained them to prioritize a high level of sync into BTS' dancing. Ten years on, we've also learned from Suga & Jimin that CEO Bang Shi-Hyuk had PD Son train them to coordinate EVERYTHING, from hand & foot movements to where their eyes were looking.
I'm no dance expert, but I know enough to understand that BTS were consistently achieving a standard of synchronized group dance that usually isn't even practiced & performed nowadays, outside of places like professional ballet corps and The Rockettes. Broadway chorus lines & Vegas showgirls are less uniform than BTS were for the first 3-4 years. Plus, they did it while practically starving themselves to maintain a low weight.
Anyone who resents the members of BTS for taking a break prior to their military service is either entitled, stupid or out of their mind.

fun fact many people think the “i wanna big house, big cars and big rings” line rapped by yoongi in No More Dream means that was yoongi’s / bts’s dream. But no in this song they were repeating what some soulless korean youth back then would say. those youth wants these empty things but don’t have any big dreams (real dreams). the lyric after that line is “but actually i don’t have any big dreams” and the whole song is about how the youth is living in a “no more dream” world. they’re actually feeling sorry for people who didn’t have any real purpose and criticising the korean society back then for not encouraging their youth to really ask themselves what their dream is.
this isn’t to say that bts didn’t want to also earn big for all their hard work and afford those luxuries. But those aren’t their only focus or main focus. instead, the luxuries are a by-product reward of their dream (they do go thru diff thoughts about this in various songs over time, esp yoongi). however their main focus was to make an impact through music, through chasing their dream 😌🤩 💪🏻 hence their pointed question 'to all the youths without dreams': "what's YOUR dream?"
To add on: BTS isn't against school or learning -- but against doing all the motions without purpose all just to 'get into the best uni n get a job'. They're saying "is that it? that's ur dream? Wake up and ask urself what TRULY is ur dream? what do u want to fulfil beyond simply having a job? what do u live for (whether it's through ur job or not?)". Also, school in korea is known to be excessively harsh, stressful and high-pressure, forcing every student into the same mold -- which BTS criticises

To be completely transparent, they (i think it was joon, but i dont remember) said the n word once, while covering a song (as in they covered the whole song without changing the lyrics)
they shouldn’t say it, and they apologised for it
i dont think its a well known fact among armys, but just to be clear and not hide things so everyone can come to their own conclusion
during their early days, they did some…. questionable things (all of which they apologised and have not done anything similar since, aka they learned from their mistakes)

About hobi’s mask, I believe it was just a concept choice (but a lot of people will tell you it’s because the company wanted to cover his “looks”) While I don’t think the company had anything against him it did seem to be a dumb choice to wear while dancing and performing just because it so hard to breath properly wearing something like that 😅

I never clicked soooooo fast! Saw Born Singer in the title so I am ready to cry again :) Born Singer is different Live, Im glad you saw this instead of a lyric video, tbh everything they do Live is top tier. They put every ounce of emotion into their performances that it almost feels impossible and it makes you feel a whole lot of something you arent used to feeling.
Just thoughts on the intro of this video : My initial info into Bangtan was through Rise of Bangtan and since then I have watched almost all if not all the original content and its not as bad as some of the twt comments make it out to be. All YT BTS docs are going to biased with which clips they use but at least there are clips with Bangtans own words that you can find to watch the whole thing. Thats what I did. It made me want to go find the original video. People worried that there is KPOP content in there but I think its wise to learn about the industry in which they were born in to understand them better. You have a mind of your own and can figure out what the story is trying to tell you and there will always be helpful fans in the comments correcting anything or clarifying. You also have Ryker ! So I think its fine, people will always have something to say, I am glad you are going to start worrying less about it.
Other notes: "Lessons" and "Blueprint" are perfect words to be associated with these guys and the label that they grew up in.
One of my favourite things is seeing people genuinely smile and I love when people appreciate the boys and smile at the same things I smile at. Thank you for that.

The live performance of Born Singer hits the feels every single time. This was one of the videos that made me look at BTS differently. They literally are just standing still on stage and singing with no choreography, no flashy clothes, no flashing lights, no lasers, no nothing. BUT the energy and passion and emotions that are coming through the screen is CRAZY. You feel it in your soul. and that's why they are different.

  • @jennptx

I've really enjoyed your whole exploration of the 2 Cool 4 Skool era, and as someone that became ARMY in a chaotic, binge-watching whatever way, it's really satisfying to see you have a plan to soak up an album along with everything else they've prepared at the time. Each album has such a defined message and concept, and it makes sense to take it in slowly than try to just consume without digesting. You, and we, already know that nothing this group does is shallow. It's designed to be thought about and reflected upon. Also lots of love to Ryker who pours so much time, love and energy into the docs to make your experience (and ours!) more meaningful.
We're so blessed as a fandom that BigHit and BTS were so open and dedicated to documenting each step along their path and sharing it with us. They put Born Singer on SoundCloud just a few weeks after debut, to share their feelings about what that moment was like. I think about that a lot when I hear the recording or see the performances years later, where you can still feel their passion and commitment to stay grounded. I relate 100 percent to you saying you never felt connected to the music you listened to before. I often felt connected to music and myself, but this is the first group who's music makes me feel like I can relate to them personally, and that makes me feel connected to the members and to other people as well, ARMY or not.

28:09 As I understand it, Jin didn't DO anything regrettable, but he had regrets (got upset) because his battery-packs were too heavy for the elastic in his pants waistband, so his pants slipped down during the performance. He could have pitched a fit of anger about this wardrobe malfunction, but that's not his style. ... For years, they all had hip pockets sewn onto their costumes, and probably sewn shut, to hold the battery-packs for their mics. But when j-hope sang at Lollapalooza last year, his battery-pack was attached to a wide band he wore directly on his waist, well above his pants waistline. It was hidden by his bulky shirt, except during a split-second of energetic dancing.

12:44 a lot of times some americans mistake koreans as saying the n word but they are actually speaking korean. “niga” (i’m spelling out the romanisation” means “you” or “to you” in korean (in an informal speech). and “naega” means “I” in korean informal speech. In this lyric, Namjoon rapped “naega we are bulletproof” which means “i / me, we are bulletproof”
they are such a common words in korean that u will hear it a lot in their songs or speech. unfortunately, it’s a common misconception by others esp when korean rappers rap haha
and idk if african americans think koreans are allowed to say the n word haha

Hi! First, I have to tell you that I really enjoy watching your videos. I like that you are starting from the beginning, and you really take your time to learn about each member. I also like the style of your videos. They make me feel like I'm watching them with a friend. Plus I enjoy watching BTS from their beginning. I don't have any Army friends, so this is really fun and entertaining for me. And most of all, I love how you appreciate them. It's so hard to find honest and sincere people who react to BTS for the first time, and actually understand and feel the struggle they went through. Second, referring to some of your questions throughout the video, I think V was doing the LA sign. Also, naega means 'I' or 'I am'. And Jin was crying after their performance because he had a mishap with his wardrobe, so he felt embarrassed. And last, I won 1/3 on rock, paper, scissors. I'm just not quick enough, yet. 😉 Borahae! 💜

I'm so thankful for your patience and pace with reactions. You really are so different from other reactors I've seen, and army notices the care you give. You quickly became my favorite person on youtube. I mostly skip the talks reactors give but you're intelligent, the things you say actually have meaning to me and I find your life philosophy inspiring. Anyway, thank you for sharing your journey with us, I think you will have a really authentic growth as an army despite being a new fan because you chose to listen to them chronologically and not give in to the hype of their famous performances. I will root for you, I hope you have a wonderful time here with the tribe :)

Everyone needs to allow others to discover BTS in their own way. There is no set rule or equation. I love the content on this channel as it explores and complies videos in a really fresh way. I think that is why I enjoy watching this channel. I’ve seen other channels doing the similar content but is probably pushed to discover BTS in a very set way which doesn’t allow the channels to stand out and to be honest becomes very same same. Ryker & Louie are doing an amazing job! 💜

    They're so relatable yeah? :)
I remember stumbled on born singer for the first time, cried my eyes out, replay it 10 times in a row. The sincerity. It's a confession, and a promise.
You know, there's this saying in army's spaces that i never bored to tell others. "You find bts when you need them". I have listening to their songs since 2017, maybe 2015 damn my friends talked about them so much. I listen, i like some of their songs, but that's just it. Never bother to find more.
Then 2020 happened. I graduated, but life sucks at that time. The words future scared me so much. I shut down, i close myself to my family, i can't ask for help since they're the one who needs help the most. Then.. yeah, i found them (or they found me?). It's not an exaggeration to say they saved me. They put smile on my face and i never been this excited to live a life
Okay.. story time finished. Idk why i even bother to typed this all lol. Heard born singer really just poked my emotional side

24:40 no, in Korea you count every year since you are born so your first year is your year number 1 and then at new year, January 1st everyone are on their second year and so on.
You do not turn older on your birthday in Korea but when a new year starts.
Think of it as if you count every calendar that's been up since you were born.
If you were born 2000 you would now have a collection of 24 calendars 2000-2023.
So even if you are born in August you would have 24 calendars now aka 24 years in Korean age.
But if you are born August 2000 you are now only 22 in international age counting until August when you turn 23 so right now until August there would be a 2 year difference in age but only 1 after august.
    Hope this makes sense. :)

I don’t think we ever got a clear answer on why Hobi was wearing the mask and Namjoon was wearing the sunglasses, I think they only mentioned it was Bang PD’s idea. But my theory is that they wanted BTS, especially the rappers, to be a little intimidating to go with their rebel image and they took one look at Hoseok’s angel smile and Namjoon just CASUALLY having the kindest eyes on the planet and went “okay we need a diversion”

just thought to add to the explanation to other people who already commented...
There are naega and nega meaning "I" and there is neoga meaning "you" and niga meaning "you" informal way (to people of same age or younger)... It's very commonly used and I appreciate you taking it light-hearted and laughing. I think that's the best way to mitigate the possible unintended offensiveness.

I love the lesson you extracted at 25:25 “They’re working hard despite their uncertainty” ...certainty of success should not be a prerequisite for dedication, even though it often feels like that. Because attempting anything at the outset is daunting, and defining a purpose seems to be everything.
If you’re able to overcome fear of failure / uncertainty of results, maybe even use it as a catalyst for your endeavour, then you may find while you work, you actively craft your fate and your definition of what being cool, being successful, or having purpose, is.
Paradoxically, the only way to become certain of oneself is to dedicate yourself to working hard at something.
    Enjoying your vids! ☺️

  • @ablindinglightthatnolonger8379

FIRST OF ALL, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WRITE THIS BLOODY ESSAY CAUSE MY COMPUTER IS ACTING UP AND DECIDING TO DELETE EVERYTHING RANDOMLY, SO YOU GOTTA UNDERSTAND THE VERY THIN LEVEL OF PATIENCE I'M HOLDING, DESPERATELY CLUTCHING ONTO AT THIS POINT!
SECONDLY, I think that we as a community don't give Ryker enough love, respect and credit for his hard work. He's doing so much for Loui and us to enjoy this journey and it seems to me that we are very good at criticising other people's hard work, instead of praising them for their incredible effort and generosity. If you have a better way to guide Loui in this experience pls go ahead and manage all the material that has been elaborated and organised by Ryker yourself, so you can show all of us how it's done!
In all the years I've been in this fandom, I have possibly never seen anybody creating such an elaborate plan with quality content and clearly good intentions. Maybe a couple of other UA-camrs come close to this, but most of them are also people with other side obligations that make it harder for them to be so diligently involved in these quests.
SO I DON'T ACCEPT ANY RYKER SLANDER HERE!!!! Just take it upon Tribe Loui!
    JKJK! Must protecc both!
Ryker is so admirable for creating such a detailed and extensive plan to make sure that Louis gets to live The Most Perfectest Armiest Experience© and we are entertained and get a new refreshing pov. Loui is also so clearly deeply involved in the boys, their story and their creative endeavours that it's quite touching to see that amazement whenever he relates to a thought or a line in the lyrics, and the pure emotions when there's a new piece of music he enjoys. Isn't this what we all experienced? And wouldn't it have been great if all of our journeys were guided by an experienced Army from beginning to end?
AND LASTLY, WTF why is everybody going against the RoB series!? It's such a well-made documentary! And the fact that somebody in the fandom is so talented and knowledgeable that was able to make it is mind-boggling to me. We are so spoiled and I think we don't even realise it. I don't have high consideration for Multistans either, but let's not paint everybody with the same brush, shall we!? I know quite a few Multistans that are very respectful and just enjoy other groups without forgetting the rough path BTS was put on to reach their achievements. The fact that in the documentary the creator decided to include a contextual underline of the industry too, it doesn't mean that they think BTS is just the same as everybody else. Be mindful enough to understand the intricacy of the rhetoric used in the documentary before deeming it biased. They are very clear (at least in my worthless opinion) at using the representation of the Kpop Industry to further explain the contrast between how the Industry works and how BTS work, how the Industry was created and developed and how BTS were formed and developed, the Industry's goals and competitiveness and BTS' goals and ways of resolving conflicts, tensions and inspiring new groups to work in a healthier and more creative environment. This is not a series made to highlight their struggles, for that there are other videos. This series is made less so to showcase the opinions of the creator, but more so to narrate the story of literally the Rise of Bangtan, what context they come from, including the Industry they developed from, some of the hardships that they had to deal with personally to become who they are right now and why they mean so much to their fans, what they stand for. If people reacting to this documentary don't understand this you can just further elaborate it in the comments without complaining against the series cause you would have done it differently.
If you genuinly believe you could do a better job, considering the editing skills, researching skills, storytelling skills, managerial skills, the amount of material you have to own and the copyright knowledge you have to have to be able to create something better than this, than please go ahead! Make a better documentary, with better insight, less biased opinions, even more in-depth explanation of their journey, still keeping it entertaining enough both for people just getting into the fandom and seasoned Armies!

New subscriber catching up on the content journey! I love love love that you have a buddy for putting together content from the various eras; another BTS reactor I follow has a whole "Dream Team" to help him out, too, and it really helps. They have just - so much stuff, especially from these early days with their logs and Bombs and music performances and eventual concerts. The rabbit hole sometimes feels like an entire cave system, to be totally honest! Ryker is doing a fantastic job curating it, and your reactions are a delight. It makes me excited to follow you! and also - knowing a bit of what's to come - to see how you react to when they revisit some of these performances on down the line.

Real facts! Especially about reactors who consume a ton of content, then can’t remember what they have watched down the line. I discovered BTS in late 2021 and reaction channels immediately after. I have now seen this phenomenon firsthand and honestly experienced it myself. I too consumed everything only to find out through others reactions how much I missed the first time, seconds, etc. time watching. A reactor I have watched over a year just asked if the viewers wanted him to react to a particular BTS series again and admitted it was all a blur the first time. Those of us who have watched reactions from others have the benefit of repetition of the content, but reactors are watching for the first time. Let Louis enjoy his journey and absorb the experience at his own pace in his own way just as you and I have. I personally have stuck around for his chronological journey and look forward to his videos.
At this point I have probably watched hundreds of reactions. It bugs me to watch a reaction that jumps all over eras and tries to compare present day BTS to 2013 BTS without context and appreciating that the road to success wasn’t smooth or easy. I appreciate Louis and Riker for partnering and making the videos entertaining to watch. Borahae💜
