I'm so glad they got J. Cole & his team to sign off on this since they literally re-wrote Born Sinner, this was not just a "sampling" of his song - I'm sure when J. Cole heard this version it was an easy "yes" to use it & finally officially release it on the Proof album. The rap line is amazing as always, but this really shows off the vocal line as well, especially JK & his adlibs 🤌

I’m so glad you enjoyed this. This was one of the songs/performances that made me take BTS more seriously. A lot of K-pop is fancy choreography, outfits, lights, beats. But there’s no soul to it. In this, there was no dancing, no pyrotechnics, no outfits, just them on stage singing their hearts out and you can really feel their passion and emotions. Made me start paying attention to their lyrics and story.
Bts just dropped their autobiography book. I pre ordered mine but hasn’t arrived yet 🤬, but I’m seeing other people say that they mentioned some unfair treatment and bullying by other fandoms and groups when they were newer. I’m guessing this song will hit harder after reading about those instances

The BTS men love this song. They have admired Cole for so long. This is an amazing homage. Then this lyrics are amazing. There is a recent live performance they did at Las Vegas I think last year. You should check it out. It was when they released their Proof anthology. It was fire. You can see how much they have grown and improved themselves

They just release their autobiography called BTS, Beyond the story. This song gives me the same feeling the book is giving me. I still think JK was 13 when he joined BTS. Suga was 17. RM was the leader of BTS and he was only 16. Intl ages. They were just kids, who had so much real talent. They are one of the only artists that make me want to root for them because they give me such a feeling when I listen to them.

You have no idea how perfect it is to be reacting to this video on this day. Originally this was written a month after their debut, so July 2013. It's so emotional and you can feel their pain (and passion) b/c right out of the gate they had so much hate & disrespect thrown their way from those in and outside of the Idol industry. This stage mix is from performances in 2015 and 2017 which were some of THE hardest years for them (before they made it to the billboards and were as famous as you know them now). It took 2 years after debut, but finally in 2015 they won a weekly music show award (it's a big deal in Korea ) and were accused of album buy backs & chart manipulation (label even had to show documents in court proving they had nowhere near the capital to pull that off), accused of writing misogynistic lyrics (untrue, it was really shitty translations...they were being scapegoated), accused of copying other artists, rec'd death threats from fans of another group who couldn't accept that a band from a small nothing company were winning over their favs, petitions were written to the Blue House (think White House) in protest, etc etc ...there's really sooooo much. That's why there's so much emotion in this song. What makes it perfect that you chose this song on this day is: 1) July 9th is Army's birthday, 10 years ago BTS gave us our name and, 2) today is the official release of their book Beyond the Story and when I tell you we are in our feeling is an understatement. Fans that organized against BTS and made their lives hell are up in arms, Army are remembering painful times, and then there's BTS singing their hearts out and transforming that pain through their art.

The song really depicts their feelings and struggles that they had to deal with in the beginning ( still now at times ) when you hear their feelings, you feel their feelings! They really delivered on this song. BTS has gotten so much hate and they still do to this date, but their music is real, filled with feelings. Rather about real life messages, and songs that make you feel happy. No member is bigger than the group, OT7 ( ONE TRUE SEVEN ) BTS COULD NOT BE BTS WITHOUT EVERY MEMBER!

I’ve heard this song hundreds of times and I get chills EVERY time I hear! I love watching the 2015 live performance b/c they were 2 years in, and right in the middle of dealing with all the hate and lies, and that performance like you said was so emotional. The way they spit them bars and bodied the vocals, made you feel what they were going through, how it made them all feel, and how they were coping with it. As an army I always show my boyfriend millions of their videos and he’s always said this is one of his favorite performances from them
You felt exactly how we do everytime we listen to Born Sinner. It's because they all pour their struggles and frustrations into the song and it tags along all other emotions and memories of how hard they've been working since they started training in 2010. Suga, RM and J-Hope made their own lyrics to this J.Cole original track but the struggles and mistreatment by other people were felt by all the members. This was released unofficially on July 11, 2023, barely a month after their debut but it has become an anthem for both BTS and ARMYs.

Thanks for reacting to this song. I also really like the Proof video version where RM updated some of his lyrics. This is such an emotional song because the rappers express everything they are going through and the vocalists feel it all, too. I'm glad they finally got permission from J. Cole to put it on their cd and to be able to stream it. It is a complete revision of his song, but the combination is perfection.
