2005 Subaru WRX STI // A survivor car with only 10,000 miles

  • This 2005 Subaru WRX STI has been driven just over 650 miles per year and the original owner preserved the car with 3M film on all the facing surfaces. This is as close touting a car in a bubble as you can get. The interior is stunning and shows zero signs of wear. The WRX STI in 2005 had 300hp from a 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder and standard AWD, plus a central differential torque split and a 6-speed manual transmission. You won't find a better example anywhere.

    The 2005 was the pinnacle year of the STI in the North American Market. It received all the same upgrades that the 2006-2007 “Hawkeye” STI has, with the crucial difference being that it carried over the 35% Front / 65% Rear Torque split that the 2004 STI had. What this means is that running the car in DCCD manual mode, with the diff set to full unlocked, you have a car that handles with a fairly RWD bias AWD system. In the rain/snow, the car is an absolute RIOT to drive. In 2006 went to a 50/50 Torque split for the STI, which made it more prone to understeer.
    This is an absolute gem and a totally iconic car of my generation. Whoever buys this thing, PLEASE don’t ruin it...

      Uh, the 06 and 07 are completely different.
      Especially when comparing to the 05.
      07 was the strongest best year . Especially if u swap a 05 sti trans in

    • @CanuckWatchFriend
      @CanuckWatchFriend 3 роки тому

      @@cockus123 right, the 07 was stronger in many aspects. Strictly from a drivability standpoint and the sum of its parts contributing to that, I’d still take the 05. I always found the more rear biased 04/05 much more enjoyable to drive, with a much more neutral characteristic. The 06/07 felt much more prone to understeer.

    You know you're getting old when a mint 2005 car is considered a "time-capsule survivor." D:

    My dream car when I was graduating university here in Canada. It was $50,000 and that was huge money back then. Ended up getting a 2013 eventually, but that wasn’t the same. 2004-2005 was my favourite! Guessing this will command even more than a full msrp when it was new.

    Buying a 95k mile 05 STI now.
    This car just sold on BaT for 40k. Wish I had that kind of money for a 15 year old car that cost 35k when it was new.

    I am both happy and sad living in this era when I still have a chance to experience and appreciate cars that are raw, fun, mechanical, and affordable, but also know that car companies focus more on hybrid/EV and autonomous driving instead of those cars.

    I am still allowed to be driving a 93,000 km Subaru Forester GT from 1999 with a four speed auto and a cassette tape player. Bought new by mum and dad for $42k aussie dollars backbones day. The detuned Wrx engine is a little bit underwhelming. Mum won't let it go. She's 80.

    My dad has an 04 WRB STi thats been a garage queen with only 22k miles untouched and still in stock form. Hopefully I will be the one to get it and not my nephew since he is way too young and know the value of it! I already have my 2008 Subaru Legacy GT that I will be 6 speed swapping and built motor and would love to have my dads STi!

    Zak, thanks for sharing. I noticed the OE battery was replaced by the aftermarket Everstart Maxx battery? Why wasn't replaced with an OE or OEM battery to keep its originality? So, I guess you can't say that this is a mint mint mint since the battery is not OE or OEM. The owner needs to invest a batter tender and plug it in to prevent the battery from draining when the car isn't being driven daily.
