    I always hated the previous Inktense cover art. I cannot imagine what Derwent was thinking when they chose that art, it was a terrible representation of what can be done with Inktense. I’m so glad to see a beautiful example of what can be achieved on the cover, it was badly needed. Lisa’s art will be a great selling point for Derwent. Now I want to buy a new set just for the tin, but I’m such a long way from needing it. Inktense blocks seem to last forever!

    Love it. I really wish I would've had this when I was first starting as a kid. I think the fact that you can manipulate it until it's right would've encouraged me a lot more. I can't count how many times I gave up because of mistakes that were only made worse trying to fix them.
    I really think this should be apart of school art class kits. It provides a realistic chance of learning not to be afraid of art mistakes. Which from my experience, can be vital to the desire overall. I quit for years because I kept feeling that I wasn't capable of going beyond that "cartoon" style like anime. This is that middle ground area between cartoon and realism that I think would boost self confidence.
    It took years before I started drawing again, and now I think of what I could've achieved had I actually had a way to get past the "mistakes".
    Given, now we have UA-cam and stuff, all I had then was a library print out google image searches with a few steps.

And to wish you a Very Merry Christmas you truly are so lucky to be so talented. My grandpa and my Aunt were professional artists. I didn't get a ounce of creativity too old and disabled to get lesson's and too poor to buy supplies but I truly enjoy watching every single video you do for us. So Thank you so much maybe one day can afford to get one of the boards and rest of the supplies needed to just give it a try. Brilliant rendition 🙂 Though have to say you can glaze exactly the same with watercolour - it doesn’t lift unless you apply some pressure. You simply wait for each layer to dry and you can layer to your heart’s content. Watercolour pencils can not be compared to professional watercolour tubes/pans.

    when using these inkblocks, do you set up a palette similar to watercolors? or go directly from water to block to paper? are you able to mix tones? do you have a video to show how your palette is set up using this medium?
    and congrats on being selected. and you are correct, your years of hard work is finally being given the recognition you so richly deserve!!

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  6 років тому +3

      I don't set up a palette but instead, mix from the block into the little side palette like thing that is attached to the packing the blocks come with. I just mix water into that little well and paint from there. You could use a palette instead though.

    Gorgeous painting! I’ve had my Inktense tin for a long time and haven’t used it very much because I wasn’t sure how to go about it and I was using the blocks straight onto the paper. I wanted it to bleed out like watercolor but that just didn’t work. Now I understand how it should be used. Thank you! YOu mentioned that you “mix up” you blocks into paint form to paint with. HOw do you do that? Do you use a brush right on the inktense block. Or are you somehow scraping the blocks into a dish with water? If that’s the case, do they keep well if you have some leftover?
    I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos.

    Hi Lachri, I have had my Inktense Blocks 24 for a couple of months. I struggled with them until I started watching your videos and a few days ago finished my first piece! Thank you, I 😍 love your work! Can you please advise how to best ‘seal / preserve’ the work? Also, would it be possible for you to do a demonstration including flesh tones? Best Regards, Dale 💐

      Inktense are not lightfast, so your best bet is to spray it with a UV protection spray (Krylon makes a good one). Other than that Inktense doesn't really need to be 'sealed'

      Snorlax Thank you! I used them in a mixed media piece and am unsure if I can cold wax straight over top. Will spray first!

      You can try to do that, but still note that they are not lightfast and the spray only keeps it from fading for longer, it doesn't make it completely lightfast. This means you probably still won't want to sell it or give it to someone. Other than that you can take some pictures or scan it to see the artwork in its original, intended form, so that if you ever do decide to make prints or look at the original artwork you have a good source to do so

    Fabulous video! I have heard mixed reviews on Inktense lightfastness. What are your thoughts? I REALLY wanna get a set.

    Hy! So beautiful you art! Congratulations! I would like to know if this drawing and the dolphin are available if I subscribe the channel. I read on the instructions that some images or drawing are deleted after sometime and I became confused. Thanks a lot
