Enjoying this immensely. Thankfully the author has been allowed to tell-it like-it-is with regard to the threat from China. And the story is very well written and narrated, believable even, a scenario that does not require a suspension of disbelief given what we've recently been-through at the hands of communist China.
@@damonturnbull5903 so the Normans were not an occupying force in 1066 DaMon? Are there any native kings or queens in the UK these days? Do you know about the orphan trains of the 19th century? Children were moved all around the world. Some of the first batches moved, they all died in forced labour. The next batches 80% died... and so on. Do you also know about the infant incubators at 1900’s world fairs? With ‘live’ infants on display? Great story. Thank you for such an entertaining experience.
I just recently saw a play done by a children acting group on it I knew about the trains before. A couple of the kids in the play were decent from orphan train survivors
Love the concept. Love the storyline! This is a lucky find for me and I like the backstory and I’m married to a South Korean so I know a bit about the Korean Peninsula and China. The only thing that gives me pause is that this virus was introduced into North Korea as a test. Solid premise, isolated culture, good test area. The thing is there is less than a 1 percent genome variance in the Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese. They have common ancestors as recently as 1300 AD. There’s about ~10 percent variance between Chinese and European genome. Who cares though, an awesome story and I’m really into it.
Thanks Keith, really glad you're enjoying it. Yes I did take a few liberties with the science behind the flu, although in my mind it was a different strain unleashed upon NK in the book. Thanks for the comment!

A few years ago I watched a series Life after people. There was an episode about domesticated animals after humans are gone. I was surprised how fast dogs would return to packs of hunters that could be quite deadly. It would be a dog eat dog world for sure! Anyways, loving this book series and the reader is wonderful.

Turning their enemies against each other using paid turncoats is a very common tactical strategy. That tactic has been used successfully for many centuries. It is so commonly used because it works nearly every time. People want to believe.
Seems like it should take a lot longer than a couple weeks for all of the dogs to starve, go feral and hunt live humans. every human adult is dead, there would be plenty of corpses for the dogs to eat for the first few weeks.

This series, so far anyway, is top notch! I do love post/apocalyptic, zombies, EMP stories etc...BUT some books/movies are just straight up vehicles for violence, guns, abuse, etc with just one fella and a gun (with unlimited bullets, OBVIOUSLY!), killing everything in his path, focusing more on the makes of firearms than character's personalities! As some other listeners have said, I normally pick a book to fall asleep to, but I'm finding myself pausing my sewing machine to listen intently to this. The narrator is brilliant too!
They should end up taking one of my favorite hikes…if they keep going to Climb Every Mountain..and escape the Nazi equivalent, oh the history teacher is named Mr. Dresden.
