    Some guys just go for a buzz cut every week, others like myself like a cleaner look. I take a razor to the dome once every other day. I feel the most comfortable that way and so in my opinion if you are going bald you should do the same! shave your head every other day for ultimate comfort and confidence.

    Definitely blade it down. Shaving the head completely actually makes a gent look younger. One of the best benefits I have enjoyed having gone bald is saving about $500 a year on barbers 😁

      Yeah... but you have to buy razor blades... and there's the time (time = money) you have to spend bic-ing it every day. Balding is damn unfair to men.

      Well apart from Razor's (which ain't cheap), shaving gell/cream/foam, the cost of a warm water running Tap, pre shave shit you may put on/post shave shit you may put on, an if you like me it's an every day task (I hate my head sticking to the pillow due to my stubble).
      I'd much rather (if I had enough hair) visit the Barbers after work on a Friday (once every 4-6 weeks), spend 10 mins in a Barbers chair, Pay £10 for my haircut (that's about 12/13 Dollars), go home, take a quick shower, then I'm done for another 4-6 weeks.

    Thanks for these videos man. 38 years old and have always loved having hair. Starting to face the cold reality that in the coming months I should just pull the bandaid off and shave it right down. I UA-camd videos about baldness to psyche myself up for the big buzz. Seeing people out there positive about it really helps. I want to age with dignity and just embrace the situation, like you are. Pharmaceutical solutions that leave you popping pills your whole life, expensive surgeries, crazy haircuts, none of that is for me. Just embrace who you are and walk this world with your head up high! Anyway, just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make these.

      I second that thanks. I need the courage for the final step and these videos help. It had been easier if I had hated my hair loss, but I'm in a state of "don't like but don't let it get to me", which makes this final step harder to take. I know I have nothing to lose though. I know how to not let today's head get to me, so even if I don't like a bald head I will know how to not let that get to me too. :)

      @@MrSweck71 Good luck dude. I have a bald friend who had this advice for me, and it made me feel better. He said : You're a man, and this is part of the path that men must walk. You should want things to happen to you that are part of being a man, because that's what you are.
      Honestly that's the best way of looking at it. Walking around with a newly bald head was a fascinating experience. The people whose opinions don't matter to me (strangers) didn't notice or treat me any different. The people who cared about me were happy for me. And the peace of mind that comes with it can't be overstated. I do miss my hair but hey this is just part of the journey.

      @@LEV1ATHYN This is also something that will help. I can take jokes and comments from people I know because I know they are my friends. It's walking in the "mass" I was a little bit worried about. But last night I broke through this. Watching TV I noticed that I STARTED to notice the bald heads on people... which I wouldn't have done if I didn't already sit having these shaving plans on my mind. So, if I don't notice bald heads on strangers... why should they notice mine?

    I got the big widow’s peaks by around 18. From 15-20 there was a rapid transition from large fibered, thick hair to low volume slower filling out hair. It was much harder to make it look good when I didn’t have much volume to play with. Past couple years I’ll just use a trimmer about once a week in the shower before I turn the water on and my hair has a perpetual 5-o’clock shadow look I dig. It’s so comfortable too I have never looked back.

    Just tried it, and wow it looks much better ! If your skull shape is straight up on the sides instead of rounder, it looks much better 'shaved'. I just did it with buzzer at #1 setting, as I've got blonde hair so it achieves the same exact look, but doesn't take as long as with a shaver. Probably wouldn't have tried if I didn't watch this first. thanks

  • @stemikger

    Right now, I'm doing a buzz cut once a week. So far that is working for me. I use the 1 guard, but it seems to grow back really fast, so I might to with the 0 guard. I love simplicity and by doing this I don't have to worry about it for the entire week. However, my baldness is going back from the front and not at the crown, so it's a good look for me, but if I was going bald at the crown, I might go with the complete shave.

    I'm just the same, thinning on top and thicker on the sides. I found that shaving every 2-days with a razor is the best. Usually it takes no more than 5 mins to be done. In regards to irritation, i have none. I use a razor pit to sharpen the razor blades first with 10 strokes and use a shaving gel. However i might try some coconut oil soon and see how it goes in terms of smoothness

  • @tite732
    @tite732 5 років тому +7

    Wow I have the same exact hairless you are describing in this vid. I even went with the 3 on top and fade on the sides for the last 3 years. It just got to the point where my hairline was a little to high for my liking and before the week was up you could really see the thinning close to my hairline. I just buzzed it on sat with a 3/4 no guard and never really liked the look because I was able to still see the darker hair on the sides with different lighting. Im going to go down to a 0 no guard and just cut it every 2 days. This vid helped because I been undecided if other people can tell and I think they can. Regardless Its bothering me so I'm just do a 0.
    I will stay away from razors because Im scared of razor bumps.
    Question, how long does it take for you head to match your face? Im hispanic but im pretty lights skinned.

I'm probably gonna go and shave this weekend and these vids are helping me cope with that fact a LOT. my only anxiety comes from whether or not I'll look ok with a shaved head. I have never shaved my entire life and just don't know how I'll look lol. I liked my long hair over my shoulders just headbanging to death metal but I look diseased at this point lol. I think if your hair is very dark then you need to shave it in. Mine is quite light so when I buzz it in very tight it looks consistent. That way I can generally avoid a wet shave.

  • @vinnyl6061

    Easiest way to avoid irritation, apply a good moisturizing conditioner while shaving instead of a shaving cream and go slow. 2 passes with the grain and then a final pass against the grain. I shave 3 times a week and never once had visible irritation. Make sure to reapply the conditioner as often as needed. It keeps the skin smooth so the blade glides over the skin but still gets a very close shave. Never once nic'd myself this way. Once you're done shaving, apply a thin layer of conditioner as well to keep the skin moisturized. I never get any head acne or cuts. Always a smooth shaving. Also another pro to conditioner, if your razor needs changed and do you start to notice a bit or irritation ( red spots or marks on your head) the conditioner will help clear up that irritation in a few hours. Also, dont go cheap on the conditioner. You want a good quality one. I personally use OGX Nourshing + coconut milk. Smells great and really does the job well. This can be found at walmart

    I just want to add my routine that works great. Adding any kind of cream makes my bald head shinier shortly after applying it. The following is what I do, and it works like a charm: I first shave my head with a slightly used razor, that will eliminate a very sore scalp after shaving. Also, I simply use Vaseline Intensive Cream when shaving my head. I shave my head every other night, and at night only! Then I apply Every Man Jack Mattifying Face Lotion to keep my scalp from drying out. The next morning, when I am ready to leave for the day, I wash my head 2-3 times with Irish Spring Soap. Those washings will take off all of the Every Man Jack Mattifying Face Lotion, and will completely take off any oil left on my scalp. I do NOT apply ANYTHING to my bald scalp, and have very little oil or shine that appears durning the day; it is quite minimal, and is really not noticeable. After many trials & errors, the above works like a charm. All the topical oils, creams, etc., are just a waste of money, and DO NOT WORK! I hope the above helps others, as I know how I felt with a shining, glowing bald head. It is nice not to even be concerned about checking my bald head durning the day.

    I buzz it every two days. However, I feel I have a conflict with myself now. Thanks to this channel I buzzed my head in Feb this year because I was obsessed about my receding hairline. I actually do like my head buzzed at 1mm now. However, I realised I am now obsessed to buzz every two days, if I leave one or two days longer, I don't feel really confortable. So I am not sure this is better than just letting grow my hair and just accepting balding without shaving/buzzing.
    What do you think? Some of you did go also through this?
    Cheers!

    I've got the same type of balding as u do and a good head-shape like yours. I usually head shave entirely every 2-3 days with a Braun S3 as it gives me a close enough shave just like a manual razor would do but without any razor burns or ingrown hairs. My baldness is similar to yours but I buzz cut once a week. By day 3 it already shows so I have to start using hats when going out. Will try the razor but still, to me, shaving every other day seems like a lot of work. But gotta do it if you want to look clean

    Can confirm. With a bald patch on top it just looks better if u shave it all off. For the guys who want to try and trimm it in different lengths. It works pretty well butt just with less difference between bald patch and rest of the hair. Let's say on the sides go with 1mm and on the sides with 3mm. No one will notice. U can still see that u have a part where u have less hair but it looks even. But u need to trimm that at least every 4-5 days max. The longer you wait the more the bald patch stands out. FYI I have pretty light skin and dark brown hair.

    Along with many others I'd say our views and the way we feel about hair loss is very similar. I see you in me and vice versa. Keep up the great work mate, you're doing a great thing and for that honesty and rawness i applause you. For what it's worth your beard length compliments your head perfectly in this video.....in my opinion of course 👌

  • @ryptoll4801
    @ryptoll4801 3 роки тому

    I prefer the completely shaved look for myself as well. I have the same kinda balding pattern, evenly thin on top, but with receeding hairline as well. Like a very high widows peak going on. It's not thinned so much on top for me yet tho, so I still could pull off having hair grown out. However, the thinning does show when I have a medium/long buzzcut, so that is the length I kinda wanna avoid. Currently I'm razor shaving it every 2/3 days, which works for now, but I'll likely get bored of that routine eventually. Probably because it takes me a whole fucking hour to shave it properly and carefully enough to avoid razor burns/bumps/nicks.
    At some point, I might try the short buzzcut or even experiment with a short fade to see how that looks on me. It might work because I haven't thinned a lot yet, and it seems my hair loss is a very slow process. I had long hair before I shaved it all off, and never really tried many short hairstyles in my life. Military styles have never really been my thing, but I'm not against trying it out for fun. Although I like the bald look on me, I just need to get more used to it, so I shouldn't obsess about trying different lengths, I think.
    Because the problem with my comfort isn't the length of my hair. I just recently began accepting my hair loss, so I still grieve it a bit, and I need to process that. But if the frequent shaving really becomes too much work for me, I might wanna try switching the razor for an electric shaver at least. Then when I've processed all my heavy feelings about losing my hair and wanna try different hairstyles/lengths just for fun, I can do that then. But I don't think now is a good time for that.

  • @neorich59
    @neorich59 4 роки тому +8

    I'm still quite happy with the shortest buzz cut and I generally go at it once a week.
    I become very aware that the sides are looking untidy over my ears if I leave it any longer.
    I still have some hair on top.
    For me, with guys who are bald on top, the Mr Burns look *never* looks good! 😉

      indeed, there is something therapeutical and relaxing about having a shaved head. Having a full head of hair myself but I had to go bald one time after messing up a trim. After that I always got tempted to shave my head whenever my hair got too long and I do that every few months if feeling in need for a different hairstyle. Now with January 1st, I decided to stay bald by choice for a whole year and I'm shaving every morning to keep that smooth head. It really is satisfying feeling the razor shaving away the stubble and feeling your smooth head afterwards.

    Hey lads .... as I’m in United Kingdom and British I recommend you find a decent Pakistani barber shop 👍 the barbers are generally highly skilled at doing cut throat razor head shaves . Mine does it that way and after he gives my scalp a rub over with an electric shaver . After that you get a natural small crystal block which is rubbed all over the scalp as an antiseptic . You can’t go wrong and generally you won’t pay much more than 6quid . Try a few different barbers see who yah feel right with and generally avoid Friday mornings till about after 3.30 as they’re always packed out for guys grooming themselves for Friday mosque prayers. Anyways shop around see who you click with 👌

    Harry I'm currently shaving my head everyday with the Remmington Quickcut, but as you know it doesn't leave an all over smooth finish.
    Rather more of a stubble horse shoes look.
    I do like it because it's so easy to use, but now I'm starting to see bumps on the back of my head on one side which doesn't look pleasant.
    I used to do every other day or after 2 days.
    I can't use razor because that would be too sharp.
    From the front I look fine, but have irritation on the back.
    When you say every 1 or 2 days, you mean one as in every day ?
    I haven't had irritation this bad before.
    I also would have hair on the sides, but nothing down the middle on top at all.
    I've just ordered the Remmington X5 and hopping that will makes things alot easier to maintain.
    Thanks from David
