Great video! I just randomly searched Crowfall on UA-cam to see if anyone was talking about it somewhat recently. Thanks for the shoutout at 9:18. Unfortunately I think Crowfall is 100% dead. Monumental bought the game but laid off everyone working on it. The high interest rate environment we're in just doesn't bode well for riskier projects like Crowfall. 😔😔
Super good video. I was fortunate to be part of the full journey, from backer till the last hours of the game. While there were many problems, there were also a lot of really good aspects of the game, what though became rather obvious initially was that the game dev team focused on far too many things at the same time, as well as reiteration already "working" parts of the game. A lot of the focus in the game were sieges, and while this did provide some of the most exiting PvP gameplay - it was also something too many focused on as being successful in the game. The large scale PvP was really also what started the trend of : Bring more numbers, and the Devs were unwilling to try new things to counter this : Such as "Friendly Fire." Small guilds were too ambitious and often their "success" criteria was often delusional. You could be very successful as a small guild, if you played the game with achievable goals, rather than what the game dictacted to be "winning the game" was. In Crowfall a lot of "nice to have" features would have helped make the game a lot more accessible, especially the harvesting and crafting. For example -if- the game had been more abundant in materials, getting gear wwouldn't have been such a big deal - people wouldn't have been so cautions about dying - yet again. Dying in Crowfall became a huge deal, as your gear would need replacing. See there was no repair mechanic - a simple "repair at the cost of a little durability" would have gone a long way, as the gear would still eventually break... The "copy" of gear introduced later on did make up for a lot of these issues. Problem was it came far too late in the project. The crafting was actually extremely interesting, and provided a lot of RNG that was good -and- bad. Those whom would want to dig into the full crafting mode should be rewarded for doing som, but those that didn't want to go the full route, should have been able to do so with a "faster and smoother path to gear" like they did in the later "test" campaigns. Personally I enjoyed this game, far more than most of the other games I've played before and since. The social interaction, trolling, encounters both good and bad was just intense and fun. There are still people from these days I enjoy the company of, and ua-cam.com/channels/zPtDwC0UUq_maWgfhTbgLQ.html still bring a smile to my face.
Hard Agree on that one. My guild, Imperium belli, became one of the best guilds in crowfall and god do I miss playing with them. No game has given me the combat fix since. It had so much cool stuff going for it, and I feel like people were a bit too harsh on it for the sake of being harsh. There were a lot of misstakes that were made, and a lot that could have been fixed, but all in all, I would be lying if I said that the game wasn't some of the best time I have ever spent in an MMO.
I remember being excited for years. But when it came out, it just wasn't as good as it was supposed to be. Though I didn't realized it died. I was just wondering if the game was finally finished. Just to find out the game is shut down... it's so rare to find an mmo with all these unique fantasy races. So It is sad such a game died so soon.. Though it seems like mechanically it was kinda hell to play.
This is just the story of like, every game. SO many developers just lose sight of what they were doing in the first place. I think they get distracted, entertain too many thoughts and the end product is just so far off the mark, and then it all just goes to hell. I never played Crowfall but that whole thing with the harvesting & crafting would have put me off forever. It's like people forget games are supposed to be fun first lol dumbasses
I backed Crowfall years ago.. Played twice during closed pre alpha and decided I would come back when game was further in development. Needless to say I just remembered the game looked it up and saw it died without ever getting to enjoy it.
Crowfall was good for me. Yes, there were problems, but what a good community gathered in this game (I'm talking about the Russian region from Innova). It was there that I found my people and joined the pvp and PVE events! I also liked the craft, but it's sad that it was never finalized (it could have been made more interesting). If they restart this game, it would be great to play it again, but without dividing it into regions :)
I thought the game was doomed before play testing. They intended to imitate Wildstar, and that one collapsed before Crowfall was even under way, but they already had their mind made up. Ultimately, I think they were only interested in a conquest game, and everything else was only present to enable it. Weak gameplay, ludicrous monetization, and obliviousness of anything else an MMO needs to develop depth submerged this title before it launched.
When this game was released, i was in utter shock about how unfinished and broken this it. And of course, the dev sold their game and sleeked back into the shadows. If i see any of these dev names attached to anything i wont buy it.
Crowfall was one of three crowd fu see mmos I support and probably the biggest let down the other one legends of aria just flopped at least Albion’s is still going strong
Spent 110 dollars on this game at the start i played once or twice in Alpha and beta and that was it. Took too long to come out by then i forgot my log in lolz.Basically never got anything out of my money.
I was one of those that was a backer and never knew it launched. Went looking and found it had already closed.

I miss the game, the Guild is still kind of there, we text each other in the discord and now looking forward to play T&L together.
