*Congratulations to Angel from Macedonia and Michal from Poland - you were both selected at random for the giveaway!* Thank you very much to everyone who emailed. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to reply to all of them, but I'd like everyone to know that I really appreciate the kind, encouraging comments and it was great to see some of your talent in the attached photos :) Keep up the great work everyone!
hey,i know Angel, thanks for giving him a nice plane
Quick Kits as for some advice for building model ships. Yes 1:350 scale is a lot easier than 1:700 plainly because there are more pieces to paint seperately as i seen you didnt fully paint the hull before adding the deck. In my personal opinion that is a huge mistake, You should paint the pieces separately. I would recommend also for accuracy on ships either use some tape to cover parts or possibly use a needle or something to apply paint at a very accurate level. This is coming from someone who has built 11 ships so far. Mostly 1:700 scale though.

Two many my mum says
I was leaving my grandparents's house when i saw an 1/35 untouched fw 190 box sitting ontop of a garbage bin. Best day ever
Now I think about it, scale modeling isnt really about building kits. Its actually about building a tower of unopened scale model boxes in your room.
Yeah lol
And taking up as much room as possible
Imagine all these kits carefully built, you may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one
Hello owen! I am new to scale modeling and i have recently purchased my first starter kit set from airfix and i can't wait for it to arrive. You are the reason why i wanted to get into scale modeling! After watching your videos and several other youtubers, i knew that i had to get into this hobby, thanks again!
I'm happy that you're getting back into the hobby, I hope you enjoy it :)
12 and no more says my Mrs lol
Yea my stash is pushing 400 kit lol
W00t
Gimme em
400! I have like 8 and I think that is so much. Guess not.
God i thought 2 was enough
I have one kit (which I'm currently building) which is a UH- 1C Huey (1/35 scale) . I started building it and as it is my second model I thought I would go all out but slow. Each peace is being sanded and filed down by hand (it took me 4-5 hours just to prepare the four personnel!) Thank you for all your very educational and entertaining videos.
The Stuka was as one of my favourite kit and it all fitted together very well apart from a ejector pin mark inside the cockpit
Hey wen - hi from New Zealand. Ive got 13 kits in my stash and about 7 in various stages of completion. Love your channel - its an incredibly useful resource and I appreciate the reality of your builds - ie just like the rest of us do it, only better!
About 150 in mine. And yes, I have a problem.
i'm not far short of that number myself and yes I have a problem too.
I'll take a few tanks lol
I take free donations
i have 2
I have none I'm poor
Thanks Owen, stay well
You ever think of setting up a discord
Heretic Slayer yeah would like a Quick kits discord. Theres only 1 model related discord that i know of.
Heretic Slayer I agree. I think that there should be a discord where we could discuss everything.
Hey I have one guys:) no where big as quick kits but it’s got a few good modelers in:)
Master of sprees what is it
I still have model kits from when I was 14 years old. I'm 52 years old now and started the hobby again !! ( Thank you coronavirus) The feeling you get when you're completed a kit and the sense of accomplishment it's so rewarding..
I have built the gant before and it went together quite nicely only need a little sanding here and there
Some great kit to donate to Malcom and the Models for Heros. I always take part when the ISM live crew do their kit auctions for Models for Heros.
***GIVEAWAY CLOSES AT 12PM GMT ON 22 JULY 2018*** due to high volume of emails.
The two people selected will be announced on Quick Kits social media at that time and contacted via email.
Quick Kits hi I'm from south Africa and I'm struggling to contact you on yahoo for the giveaway. Any help?
Hey that airfix Stuka is the model I just did! My first in over 25 years and your channel was a huge help 🤙🏻
I built the gnat when I was 4 so I can't remember much, but looking at the finished model, there is no big fitting issues (as I didn't use filler back then)
The Cromwell kit is brilliant. Parts fit perfectly. A very good kit. I recommend it highly.
I bought quite a few of these 1/76 tanks in the last few weeks as I bought a few warwells for my model railway. Building the first Cromwell and blimey the wheels are small. Still trying to figure out how to fit the rubberised grey tracks - does superglue work when joining them?
Nice in box reviews. Going to do a pictorial one myself later today on the unofficial Airfix modellers forum. I just got the Roden AN12. a superb looking kit.
I really need to sort my stash out. There must be somewhere over 600 kits in the loft.
All the best.
Greg.
I have about sixty unbuilt kits in my stash. You have a good start going. I have the Boulton Paul in my stash. Love Airfix kits. Nice of you to donate your kits and your videos are fun to watch.
If you are wanting to build more 1/24 kits I would definitely recommend the airfix 1/24 hawker typhoon mk 1b as it has no fitting issues whatsoever and has amazing detail. There was no flashing and the kit in new tool but it is a very hard kit and took me over a year to build.
I have nearly finished the Revall Lancaster bomber 😀😀😀 really good kit
Owen, I was going to ask for a kit so I could send it to models for heroes, so nice one! Also you will love that Hasegawa kit - the fit will be amazing. Watch out for the decals though - they are really thick and it might be a better idea to make templates to paint them on yourself! Either way, looking forward to seeing the build video for it!
i have made the gnat the parts fitted together very well and over all it was an awesome kit.
I have a Lancaster b.III for Christmas, really happy!
The red arrows gnat was my first model. It is an amazing kits
I don’t have in kits in my stash because I’ve already built those models. I really love putting together models because it calms me down and you get a miniature of a vehicle from a war, game, or movie.
I agree! It's a form of therapy that helps me escape the stresses of daily life :)
Good luck on the big spit ... had major issues on warped parts and fits ..especially engine..
I have 2 of these plus 2 hurricanes and 2 of the desert spits and a me 109.. just need to pick up a p51 mustang ...
Most of my stash is 1 /72 ww11 aircraft but I've let my 9 yr old have those as old fingers and eyes have made me move up to 148/132 ..
Good luck with your future projects , but make that time for the hobbie
.Craig.
i have 350 kits here in Portugal, but only now started assembling, starting with oldies : Frog Hunter went bad at painting, Frog Sea Fury ok but broke the propeller, already got another, and Airfix Gnat in Yellowjacks scheme. Next are Eastern Express Hunter and Novo Fairey Delta 2, will try Tamiya acrylics ..later on planning on getting an airbrush for the other kits
All of those models are very nice Im currently doing a Revell 1/72 B17-G “Flying Fortress,” very good kit anyway Good luck with your models! Will love to see them built and again good luck!
I've recently gotten back back into kit building, I started off with 3 and then brought 5 more for my birthday aswell as getting one for my birthday as a present... I've only built 2 so far. they're all 1/72 scale airfix kits and the biggest is the English electric lightning starter kit I got for my birthday.
I built the Lancaster you have and its a really good model
Im a Big fan of your vids and you inspired me to make Scale Models and im 11 years old i started in March with my first model the Curtiss tomahawk from airfix and now i already have 34 models, now im Working on the ju 88 A4 from Zvezda and please keep up the good Work 👍👐 (🇱🇻latvia)
600ish, but maybe 70% of them were either bought second hand or in won in model show raffles. On the 1:350/1:700 dilemma, it depends on the kit. Some 1:350th kits are just as fiddly but with four times as many parts. Instead of a 20mm Oerlikon in one piece in 1:700 you get one that twice as big, but consists of four parts. Starting with a destroyer may have been a better choice.
I have 14 in my stash including a 1:48 TSR-2, red arrows gnat, red arrows hawk and a hawker typhoon. Advice for your boat would be take it slow and use masking tape for straight lines. I used a pencil with no lead to to my RMS queen mary. I think that the models for heroes is a brilliant thing to do
Regarding your comment about an appropriate scale for ships, I am getting back into model-making with a 1:350 HMS Dreadnought by Trumpeter. There is still fine work, just more of it. However, I have been learning to airbrush with a really cheap starter set and it is my first model with photo etched parts so I am learning skills with cyano-acrylate glue and a modified sewing needle.
Additionally, I bought a nice stereoscopic microscope to aid with work (my eyesight is changing to more long-sightedness). An indulgence, but it really helps.
As for a stash, I am building that. Only an 1:72 Airfix EE Lightning F6 (inspired by the Mark Felton video on one intercepting a U2, which was considered impossible at the time) and a 1:700 Tamiya Waterline HMS Hood and HMS Electra from the Battle of the Denmark Strait (to replace a model I made a few years age where I did not like the way I painted it).
7, soon to be 8 kits in my stash at the moment. One can never have enough stash!
My favorite out of all of the kits is the M1A1 abrams
About 250+++ in the stash??, 3 wip/sitting in their boxes, and 1x tamiya crusader mk2 on the bench, the plastic addiction is real
Quick kits. I know I’ve said this before but I love your videos and this is no exception
I have 5, but actually planning on getting through them. Stuck at minute for time/energy due to a summer job.
The Stuka was quit nice to build and a small amount of filler is needed
I lost my cockpit while cleaning so I haven’t finished it but it’s quiet good
Love the channel
Ive got a few kits on the go atm. And a few in storage. Im working on an me 262 bomber interceptor, kv-2, leopard a1a1, panther 2, and a hanomag. I have a tiger 2 and a 1/72 b29 in storage.
I built the Stuka and it was mainly ok to build
The airfix 1/72 ju 87 stuka. Is my favorite kit i like every pat about it does not need any filler ot that. But u need to sand just a bit but not too much but the kit is nice.
On the lanc.....be careful when fitting the wing spars through the fuselage holes! The holes need sanding as it's an extremely tight fit
JS160LC I managed to break the tip of the spar off getting them through...
Invincible yep that's how I learnt too
JS160LC same!
I’m ok. I don’t need these kits, but I like them. Keep up the great work Owen!
13:30 I once made the Airfix 1/72 B-17 and it had a cool interior so I joined the two fuselage halves with magnets and it looked great and the seam was barely visible. You should do this one the lancaster
for building ships model kit, i think you should build sub-assembly and attach the flagpole later
No stash yet, but looking forward to it
Well not counting the GunPla that I am selling from my backlog, I have well over 100 kits.
I have roughly 80 kits on eBay
32 'Airfix' style kits (then again, all bar 2 of those are airfix kits), 5 bolt action box's I'm slowly working on and *beep* loads of warhammer box's I'm making my way through.
BTW it was because I found your channel is why I went back to doing airfix again
I have been wanting to get into models for the past four years but I haven’t started making any yet because I don’t have room to display them but I am moving house this year so hopefully I will have room for more shelves at the new location. So far I have accumulated a stash of 13 kits.
The engines need a bit of filler however everything else is just fine (Avro Lancaster).
Great video Owen! I've built 2 airfix lancaster's and a Revell lancaster. I have to say that the Revell Lancaster was much better to put together. The airfix b.iii had a big fitting issue with the fuselage and the bomb bay doors were warped and didnt fit properly. The landing gear was very nice tho. The revell fit was perfect but I couldn't finish it as it had parts of a b.iii mixed in with a dambuster. I hope this help you with your Lancaster. I'm looking forward to the D-Day event video. :)
Cheers.
Christian.
Diggerman Tigermutt I noticed the fit issues on the airfix Lancaster's fuselage too. I built the B.II with the radial engines and they gave me plenty of trouble too.
Invincible Yea it required a lot of sanding and filler
Oh my god how did I miss this a giveaway I’d of loved some of these kits my wasn’t I notified
Gotta be honest , i've only got three kit's . A 1:24 james bond autogyro , 1:72 fairey rotodyne , and a 1:48 mk 45 seafire , plus i've also got conversion part's for the 1:48 airfix mosquito . 20mm anti ship , highball , bulge bomb bay for the 4000lb cookie , separate flap's , different engine's , and a complete conversion for the mk 33 sea mossie with folding wing's . But for me it's not time , it's space . I built hundred's of airfix kits , 30 odd year's ago , but currently don't have any built now , plus i've developed a taste for the unusual , hence those three .
I'm in Japan and I just bought a premium yamato and a South Dakota (and tons of paints, airbrushes, etc lol) in stores with plamodel departments so big I couldn't believe they existed
Funny that one of my biggest interets in model building is japanese warships. Ive got 5 1:700 scale and 1 1:350 scale yamato.
My stash is the model I am currently working on. And maybe another I am building next, but the overlap is only like 12 hours
I have something between 50 to 70, and a lot of them are 1/35 helicopters (Chinooks, Hind, Little Birds and ofc lots of Hueys).
Nice
I have 550 plus kits, the majority of which will probably be sold by my next of kin once I'm no more. I think a lot off old kits on ebay are being sold under these circumstances. A practicality that I've never really given much thought is, where the hell would I put them once I've built a number of them, there is only so much shelf space.
I'm currently reading a book by WW2 French pilot Pierre Clostermann, who flew with the RAF. I would like to build a few kits of the planes he flew, Spitfire, Typhoon and Tempest. I already have the Spitfire, which has his markings, the others could be a challenge.
I would guess between 300-400 kits in my stash, but I am not really sure
I only have 1. I built most of them yesterday
I used to have like 10 italri kits they were HUGE and i just built the last of them.
As I only started modeling I have 0 stashed models. Would love to start my stash with something from your giveaway. Im going to need much practice to get in your level!
I don't know off the top of my head, but I know I have more kits unbuilt than built. It's just finding the time to build them . . .which is a shame, because i've got some pretty awesome ones waiting to be done!
132 and counting! 😊
Well I only have 2,a tiger1 that I haven't open yet bc I'm still working on my me 262 and the second kit is a flak 88 which i have already opened but I haven't started working on it
I have 18 kits in my stash, however I have started building half of them, so does that count?
I have over 3000 kits in my stash, many of them extremely rare from the 60's & 70's and 80's. I'm a studio scale model builder. need to lots of greeblies for scratch building.
W0000000000000t
The Stuka is a very good kit but the decals where pretty hard to get off the sheet considering I put them in water for an extra 2 minutes
Got like five or so, unbuilt. Apart from that, got like 45 or so in varying stages of building and painting.
Yassssss!
I Owen, where do you lie the paint for lots that don’t come with them?
For the moment in my stash I have 3 models: The Tamiya F4u Corsair in 1:48 scale.
A Revell Monogram P-51 1:48 scale and a Beautiful Fw189 in 1:48
Greetings from Italy👍🏻
I am actually building the Airfix Mk Vb Spitfire as a live build on my channel now and I can confirm that the clean up of the parts has dramatically increased the build time :( having said that, people appear to still be enjoying this series/project and I am actually enjoying it, so don't be put off by its condition. ATB Mark aka SprueSurgeon :D
Is this an old or new tool spitfire?
Definitely old... very old... it has that much flash its like carefully extracting a fossil from sandstone except in this case its stytrene and flash! ( i may have over exaggerated slightly ;) )
Great comparison! :)
The Stuka is hard but fun
Great video! 1 kit in my stash
Cromwell is a realy good kit by airfix tho the gun is bit fidly by that I mean I put the gun on then I nocked it off and replaced it with a toothpick with the sharp ends cut eff
8 in my stash but I do have multiple kits on the bench currently.
Regarding ships, bigger is better. I don't have much experience at all but I'm restoring a poorly built 1:200 scale Titanic and, although cute, it's an absolute nightmare to detail!
Regarding the Lancaster's, I can't speak for the Airfix model but the Revell is a very nice kit. Great engine and cockpit detail, including the all-important bombs in multiple configurations. Highly recommend it. I love the 1945 b/w scheme so I'm thinking of picking up an Airfix one to decorate in that livery. Looking forward to your future construction vids on these projects (if you film them!)
I understand you are a brush painter, so I'm curious to know how you plan on painting such a large area on the 1:24 scale Spitfire? I'm a brush painter as well, don't have the room, money or desire for an airbrush so I'm keen to hear your thoughts!
I would assume that Owen would paint it with many cans of paint and a large brush
Yep looking back that was a dumb question to ask lol. I suppose I just wondered if he had any kind of techniques that differ from painting a 1/72 or 1/48, however there's no reason why it would be different, just scaled up.
I have around 18 kits, 5 of which are work in progress.
Damn i want that Zveda t34 or that Airfix stuka
Hi can I say I only have like 4 or 5 kits in my stash but you are an amazing UA-camr I love your content please carry on
I have about 26 models or more I couldn’t think of the rest.
I have one kit :( , the Airfix Curtiss Tomohawk IIB starter set. But I’m looking forward to making my collection bigger!
I have a 1/72 academy b-17f I’m looking forward to building :D
I would love this. 💘 i have zero kits. Wish I had one
Random question. Dose anyone know what to use to return a model to a matt finish after applying a gloss coat?
Hey Owen did you take down the D-Day Video? I cant find it anymore
5 to 600. All scales aircraft, military, ships and automobiles.
Need a helping hand here Owen I currently am making a Revell B17-G but the problems are I accidentally got a wee bit super glue on a window and got a wee bit paint with a layer of glue over it so I can’t do anything what’s your solution? Gloss varnish? Scrape it off? I don’t know
What sort of brushes do you currently use
Around 7 for me.
Nice haircut it looks really good on you!
I’m working on two and I have one in stash
I have 19 boxed kits and am building 4 at the moment
4 Kits to do
