    I take my scrap in, get paid cash on the spot. You want my finger prints to drop off a bit of scrap, then wait 5 days to get paid ? AWWWWW no thanks, big pass on that one.

      As if you have any other choice in most states nowadays exception of NOT scrapping.
      Hated moved to Oregon & here they photocopy your official driver's license/ID, take snap shots of ALL vehicles in/out licenses etc, you turn in your scrap etc & then they tally it up give you a receipt & they cut a check/mail it Within a day or 2 which means 5-7 business days before delivery.
      (Not a big surprise but a little, being that it's small small town oregon in the middle of nowhere & portland etc (high theft etc).
      Yeah, it DEFINITELY sucks having to wait when the transactions already been long done But I also understand the scrap yards reasoning. If they accept stolen materials & have already payed out cash for it, when the police out whatever come looking, then they're screwed & doubly screwed. Can't recover the money they paid to the thieves since no clue who they really are & stolen his get confiscated & possibly even have to pay other fines and fees for having stolen crap.
      Anywho....
      Make sure you have a Great day and an Excellent rest of the weekend!!!

    I am a scrapper from Texas
    If u first time seller then they have to cut u a check
    And apply for a cash card.
    The cash card got all your info scrap yard needs and also it regitstered and Report the transaction to the State. and they want your puddy prints and all that too.
    But what sucks about other states that 3 to 5 days holding period then cutting a check. But in Texas it every time u make a transaction that state sees what your selling and you get paid same day no wait.
    Yes I got question by the state, where I was getting my copper once cause I sold 5,000 pounds of number two and I was being invesigated, the undercover state agent was fallowing me around all day street scrapping for like 3 days in a row womdering how i got my copper from

      They have enough man power to have the State follow a scraper around all day ........but can't seem to fix shit ?! Time to stand up to these idiots ! Grab the dude and ask him what the hell he is doing with his life ?! Can you think about doing that ''job '' for 40 years and telling your grandchildren what you did ?

    Why do you enforce the Tennessee 5 day wait period law for Converters and Copper, but you blatantly show deliberately burned copper wire, which is a flagrant violation of the Clean Air Act?

    • @CuriousEarthMan
      @CuriousEarthMan 3 місяці тому

      I thought burning wire was outlawed in the 80s. Some states stopped taking it back then.

      I was wondering the same.
      Also if you have copper, braided or not, how is something less copper? Shipping prices' per pound volume? Most of the stuff is compacted into bales before shipping to a contractor.

    Informative. What about if you have bright copper tubing? Would that be considered bare bright?

    • @CuriousEarthMan
      @CuriousEarthMan 3 місяці тому

      #1 I think. Bare bright is only bright wire, thicker than 16 ga, I think. Look up "ISRI" to find some of the rules/grades. Those guys had some not-shiny tube. I think some call that #2. If it has green on it, def not #1 but #2.

    what about copper ingots ?

    • @CuriousEarthMan
      @CuriousEarthMan 3 місяці тому +2

      don't make ingots unless you want LESS money than the copper you had before. If the yard sees what the material is, they'll pay accordingly. When you make an ingot, they have no idea what is actually in it, and it isn't worth assaying, unless you get them regularly and they are over 1000 lbs. Meaning, if you are a known smelter, with an assay, you can sell ingots. Otherwise, you are losing money.
      Even if they have an XRF machine and shear your ingot into several pieces to test it, they'll knock the price down for the troubles and effort it takes them.I hope that helps!

      You must wait a year and have 2 rectal exams ....for your safety . If you remember that the company owes you money in a years time you should get a lawyer that can help you recoup 60% . Don't blame the gentlemen who ''buy'' the scrap they just follow orders ........like going to war for freedom ......
