Scrap Talk
Приєднався 6 бер 2024
This channel explores the world of scrap metal recycling. How we can all contribute to making the world a better place through the power of recycling.
Season Two Finale: Essential Procedures in Scrap Recycling #recycling #scrapmetalrecycling#scraptalk
In our latest episode of Scrap Talk, hosts Ross Litz and Kip Brown pull back the curtain on the intricate processes and regulations that govern the day-to-day operations in the scrapyard industry. From understanding the legalities to the environmental impact, this episode is packed with invaluable insights.
Here's a quick look at the key takeaways from the episode:
Understanding Vehicle Recycling Protocols:
For vehicles from 2012 or newer, titles are a must. Older models? You can still bring them in, but a signed statement is required.
Procedures involve thorough documentation to report to the Tennessee Department of Revenue, making sure all transactions are above board.
Bringing your own wheels? Don't forget the title!
Compliance and Verification:
Titles, IDs, fingerprints, and real-time photographs of transactions provide a multi-layered security system.
Important checks on stolen vehicles: State databases return status within 24 hours, and vehicles without titles are held for three days.
Scrap yards like ours typically pay by check, especially for copper items, which are placed on a five-day hold to prevent theft.
Operational Transparency and Record-Keeping:
Every transaction is meticulously recorded and monitored, enabling clear track records and compliance.
Customers can request detailed transaction histories for their records.
Our systematic approach ensures both regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.
Season two of Scrap Talk has been an incredible journey, and we appreciate your unwavering support. Stay tuned for more recycling insights in the upcoming season after a short break!

Scrap Metal Recycling: A Beginner’s Guide
Great video just subscribed
I love this! Larry and The Daily Bread are dear to my heart and I’m so grateful that Ross and Morristown Iron & Metal support the cause. God is so good!
Put the aluminum foil in side the cans. Then smash it. 1.65 a pound here in CA
Thank you for your educational vudeos.
Honest pricing and pretty quick.
Thin braided wire that is cleanly stripped of insulation melts exactly the same as bare bright without loss of weight in the smelting process.
Thank you guys for having us and can’t wait to be back. You guys are great
#LaBounty !!
You can vote without id or proof of citizenship, but not scrap metal.
I'm surprised you didn't mention lead pouring I used to help a guy that had a can smasher and he would talk about all the time having to pull little cans that were like had maybe a half inch or an inch of lead poured into the bottom of them and they would jam up his shredder
🎉🎉🎉🎉 Awesome
Awsome videos! I work on a scrap yard with a shredder! Ive always enjoyed feeding cars!
This happens to me every time with bronze chips I have from my machine shop. Yes, Bronze. The same high dollar stuff they make Olympic medals and statues from. Call and get a price from a Recycler. Go to drop off load. Get a much lower price when I get there because the bronze has a few imprurities after they run their little magnet through the shavings. This is a scam! I have captured bronze chips directly from the cutting tool onto a clean piece of paper and done my own test with a magnet. Guess what? I found impurites with the magnet. WOW!!! Who would have thought? Bottom line, there is no such thing as 100% pure metal. I'm sick of getting Ripped Off by Recyclers.
But you didnt answer the question. What does happen to the steel that has already been "shredded"?
5 day wait to get paid??? Fingerprint your customers??? Wtf?
5 days to get paid?? THATS why your piles are so small those two little piles are what we bring in as a load. Good luck tho 😂
Gold's value at the moment and when this video came out is twice what Platinum is. Gotta double check everything everyone says these days.
I am a scrapper from Texas If u first time seller then they have to cut u a check And apply for a cash card. The cash card got all your info scrap yard needs and also it regitstered and Report the transaction to the State. and they want your puddy prints and all that too. But what sucks about other states that 3 to 5 days holding period then cutting a check. But in Texas it every time u make a transaction that state sees what your selling and you get paid same day no wait. Yes I got question by the state, where I was getting my copper once cause I sold 5,000 pounds of number two and I was being invesigated, the undercover state agent was fallowing me around all day street scrapping for like 3 days in a row womdering how i got my copper from
They have enough man power to have the State follow a scraper around all day ........but can't seem to fix shit ?! Time to stand up to these idiots ! Grab the dude and ask him what the hell he is doing with his life ?! Can you think about doing that ''job '' for 40 years and telling your grandchildren what you did ?
5 days to get paid ? f that
communist state
Next year you will be forced to give them the copper ! Can't have people running around with money !
The good people out there
What are the prices?
tonnes of scrap metal available in kenya, connect us with a buyer
God is blessing you. 🙏🙏
What kinda gas do them torxhes run? Oxygen propane?
Ford impala lmao. Torpedoes are the best 97 to 2005 e250 e350 f250 f350 v8 and v10 gas burner
Metal conducts electricity. So don't go poking around that steel until you disconnect the supply from the wire.
You’d be lucky to get $50 of copper outa there. And spend a couple hours messing with it. Not worth it. That old building probably only had power to a couple lights and maybe an outlet or two. Not worth it.
Incredible waste of energy to shred all that cheesy tin.
I’m not trying to get nobody in trouble, but I went up a hollow somewhere in Kentucky and found all kinds of old metal steel cars all kinds of stuff that could be scrapped searched for days could not find the owners the people that own. The land said they did not own the stuff, so we removed it for him and I can tell you that the junkyard literally had no questions for us where that stuff came from. They picked it up with a track-hoe And threw it on a bed and about 12 hours later, it was headed down the Ohio river. They never said nothing like this so maybe things have changed. I don’t know.
#mocoppermomoney
That is kind of an oxymoron because when I bought my land I ended up with 400 abandoned rail. I still have them I was thinking of putting a train around my property. I even have curves. I cut them up and make bumpers on my trucks. Or make fence post. What else can you do with them pennies on the dollar is not worth hauling them.
Yeah I know somebody who bought land and found about 50 tons of old steel rail on his land and could scrap it
But they are happy to take full spools of copper cable stolen from my business that are obviously not scrap.
If you find some old rails you can sell them to people wanting to get into blacksmithing to make anvils out of
Man hole covers is another one they have to call the police to find out where you got it from
Please talk slower, I can’t keep up.
Quit Accepting Catalytic Converters is a good start!
In amerikkka if it’s found or left behind it’s fair game… you see what the caucasoid did to the indigenous Indian and African
And what does your racist banter have to do with the subject at hand????
@@elizabethpeterson4029it means that in America first come first serve mf.
@@elizabethpeterson4029Point is, if they abandoned it and the people who built it are long dead, who cares if some company technically owns it.
From your random neural firings, we can see what it apparently did to you. Everybody else is doing fine, though. Thanks for playing, though.
Suuure, we totally believe you dont take "illegal scrap"
I work for the phone company. I wish they would do that for phone cables.
Some damn body is accepting them. Why don't we move on to who those people are and get them out of business!!!
They pollute the groundwater in the areas they are based at. They sell mixes of used and worn metals which produces the weak metals of today. The metal you see and buy today is not half as strong as the metals of the 70s. People like this love to toss the word Recycling around alot because you have been trained that is a good word. In fact recycling has next to zero benefits in any situation.
You're confusing metal with plastic...but nice try. 😂🤣
BS people wanting to screw you out of your money. Find a different scrap yard
I'm sure everyone including me would love to see an indept video of your shredder system 😊
Most counterweights are hallow then filled with concrete
Greedy greedy karma s a b****
That's why you strip your steel down yourself and don't get robbed from them
Just found this channel. Thanks.
sell it to NUCOR
Do you shred the cars at your yard that you crush with your mobile crusher? Thank you!
