Hi Melinda! I just got my copy..... it's # 89!!!! that may not be as good as a promo but I've loved MOFI for so long I would visit their website daily so I could be amongst the first orders for a copy and the lowest # I've and so far my lowset #d copy is a a Billy Joel at # 203. This is everything I dreamed it would sound like. WOW!!! That is my most appropriate response. As I said before, I have the Hoffman/ Grey from 2009. Now Hoffman isn't in the deadwax, but supposedly it's got the same matrix #s as the Hoffman/ Grey DCC, although this is an Acoustic Sounds 2009 copy. Bottom line is I'm floored like I was with The Eagles self titled. I had to share this with you and your readers first.
@@SDsailor7 At times the vocals came seem a little brite but this is not an album to play in the background, for me this is an album that when you play it you want to feel the power of what the musicians were doing and this version perfectly captures that.
Hi Melinda, thank you, for showing your, Eagles ‘ Hotel California’, Mobile Fidelity One Step. I really love, The Eagles ‘ Hotel California’, and have it on, record, CD, too. I will tune in next time. Take Care.🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁
,,,,september,,,1st,,,.......how cool is that package...I can tell how much it means to you....I love every note,,,,...takes me right back to childhood also.......can't imagine not having it playing on the radio while growing up.........,,,,,,,,,,,it's really all we have to share(kansas,leftoverture)........tnx, Melinda,,,...peace out
FINALLY!!! I’ve had my preorder about a year and was beginning to wonder if it would even come out this year. I too have so many beautiful memories of the Hotel California album (I graduated high school in 77) and of the band itself. I paid $5 (I still have my ticket stub) for my ticket when I first saw the Eagles in 74. I cannot WAIT to hear this! Btw I still have an extra 1977 original still sealed. Thanks Melinda! Great video as always. Love & hugs, Deb ❤️🤗
Wow! You lived in an amazing time. I wish I was able to see the Eagles in their hey day. Being a senior at that time must have been a blast. ♥️😀 Thank you and have a lovely weekend.
Hotel California Indeed...The Best Most Splendid Track...One Of My MANY Favorite Weekday Afternoon Kind Of Tracks...And Epic...I Was 7 Years Old When This LP Was Released In 1976...8 Years Old In 1977 When I First Heard Track On Radio During The 1:00 Hour One Weekday Afternoon...I Was Forced To Take A Nap Everyday Week Day Afternoon In Thr Summer Whe School Was Out...But When My Mother Took A Nap As Well~I Snuck Out To The Living Room And Turned On A Portable Radio We Had And It Was Playing On The Radio...I Listened To All Almost 7 Minute Track...That's My Splendid Memories Of That Track...Not Much...But A Splendid Memory Indeed...
By '76 I had heard years of Eagles on SoCal radio, played all their hits in south coast bar bands and was definitely into other stuff. In '77, I was working in Scotland and stepped into a record store to get out of the cold and check out a new Bob Marley album. It was just before Christmas and seeing Hotel CA in new releases, I suddenly realized how much I missed home. I went back to California that Spring. Thanks, Melinda...and yes, it's a great album.
One of my faves - we're about the same age, I grew up with this too - Dad and Mom loved it - memories. My dad loved to blast his music on the hi-fi. I went to one of their concerts in the 90's and then again my friend and I did a re-do in 2021 (alas Don Frey was no more) but they are still great live.
It's such a great record with so many great memories attached ♥️ I was able to see the new line up without Glenn back in 2017. It was very special. Thank you and take care.
I'll never forget asking my 7th grade teacher if I could simply look at the copy of this album that he brought in, to play for our class. I must have studied that thing, front to back the entire time the music played. Thanks for your review and memories.
hi Melinda really happy to have this masterpiece from Eagles wawo but when you talked about the year 1977 and the atmosphere of that time you made me travel in time if I have a time machine I will only use it once to relive the 70s it was really the happiness of pop and rock music. thank you for your generosity to share these moments with us.
Thank you very much! The song Hotel California is just one of those songs that bring back so many memories. Getting to hear those songs in this way is incredible. Have a wonderful weekend.
Melinda much enjoyed listening to your experiences in 1977 with the Eagles record being an engulfing shadow amidst all that excitement during your childhood days. And relayed in charming fashion...... For me back in 1977 during college days in India, listening to the hotel california album was a ray of light, a beautiful escape from reality, a bonding time with friends, my God it felt unreal & God like, a ray of hope & at that time I did not realise that this would be the ultimate music & that there will be no more greater music to come. And you mentioned Dreams by Fleetwood Mac too. But alas we were at the peak of pop/rock music then. Hotel California along with other great music from the 1970's were the best ever. We have never reached that level since that era. Mirrors on the ceiling & big champagne on ice we will never have ever anymore. Thank you Eagles and the beauty bands from the 1970's. And thank you mofi !!!
The 70's were an amazing time and the music was incredible. I loved my childhood and it's wonderful when music can take us back to a place in time. Thank you and take care.
There seem to be songs that reach a pinnacle. They seem to transcend everything. Good Vibrations comes to mind. I think Hotel California is also one of these songs. You hear it and know right away its not just another hit. When I went out to play, in my mind I was Johnny Unitas passing a football down the street. Hope you and Phillip have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Thanks!
Very nice! I remember going to Peaches when I was around 7 (I was born in 1970) with my older cousin and he bought Hotel California and i bought my very first record which was a Beach Boys "Surfin' USA" 45. Memories like these stay with us forever. Thanks for the video.
Hi Melinda, your video is so timely for me. My copy arrives today and i have waited so long for this One Step. Can't wait to spin it on my turntable tonight. Keep up the great YT videos.
My freshman year in college…Hotel, Rumours, Frampton Come Alive…best albums for 76-77…great memories…still evoked by anytime I hear notes from these albums. Going to get this release! AND you’re NOT OLD!!!
Hotel California is the pinnacle of the Eagles works! I love this album! The version you have looks fantastic! Your an older lady?? Oh dear I was 17 back then! Yes I was into punk! But I was never a year zero person! I love Rock music old and new!! I love your enthusiasm you are definitely not an older lady! While we have the enthusiasm we will never get old!! 😊
I was 15yo when this album was originally released and I was (still am) into punk, but unlike you I was a year zero guy, however, I eventually grew out of it. Hotel California is a great album, I have two very good OG copies, so I wasn't really going to bother with this one-step but Melinda's review has now got me desperately looking around for a UK source. 😂
@@staggerlee6794 A UK source is going to be an import store! I haven't found a stockest yet as the UK doesn't press vinyl records anymore it's going to be difficult I will say Germany or Czech Republic would be a good bet as they are the main suppliers of Vinyl and CD for the UK!! If I find anything will pass on any information!! Had a few odd looks in the Record Store in 77 I bought the albums Eagles Hotel California with the Stranglers No more heroes! Both classics in my book!! Best of luck with the search!
Hotel California was the first album I bought when I put my first sound system together, age 19, 1977. I had a nice Dual table and about 20 watt amp and so-so speakers but still, the album blew me away. Now I have a very expensive high-end table and cart, so the experience should be more than jaw dropping. So, Melinda, you may well be the best sales person, ever, for Mobile Fidelity. With over 2000 albums in my collection, I had kind of, sort of, sworn off buying any more. However, after that review, I have my copy on the way. I hope Mobile Fidelity reads this response and then start sending you new releases to review AND Keep. I don't think I have ever heard a review so passionate and so very, very well done !!!! G R O O V Y !!!!
Wow! Thank you so much. Your encouragement means a lot. Please let me know what you think of this release. I think you're going to be very impressed. ♥️ Have a great day.
This is the one I have been waiting for! I pre-ordered this one the minute they had it up. I cannot wait to get mine. Like you, this holds so many memories from childhood to then college when The Eagles were my favorite to play when I studied. I can't tell you how happy I am that you loved it!! Separately, thank you for sharing your memories in your videos. You and I are the same age and I often can connect and relate exactly to your stories. Until your next video
Hi from UK as this pressing means so much to you i hope you're going to put the records in poly lined inner bags instead of the card one's, sends shivers through me to hear the sound it makes, scratchiness abound.
The records came in the MoFi anti static sleeves, not cardboard. 😀 Don't worry, you just heard the sound of the sleeve. No damage done. 🤗 Thank you and take care.
Melinda, you talked me into it! My first MFSL one-step! I was working in a record store when this massively popular record came out, had been an Eagles fan since the first album and a Joe Walsh fan even longer. Hotel California sounded so amazing on our hanging Bose speakers! It’s one of those desert island discs for me, so thanks for your enthusiastic recommendation! 😊
I'm excited for you. I hope it brings you as much pleasure as it has for me. Please let me know your thoughts. I think you will be very happy. Thank you and take care.
Better than Madonna Ray of Light or Confessions on the Dancefloor? Because, these are two of the best sounding records I’ve ever owned. Of course Talk Talk Colour of Spring is beautiful sounding too. Plus the album is great to begin with. Mark Hollis had a beautiful voice.
Great video as always Melinda! One of my all time favorite albums and song, and the guitar solo in Hotel California is one of my all time favorites too. Just amazing! They don't make music like this anymore. The Eagles are legends. You and family have a great long weekend and enjoy! Best wishes always! 🥰
I agree. They do not make music like this anymore and it's such a shame. The guitar playing is so incredible. Thank you so much and enjoy your weekend.
Hey Melinda, I have been waiting for this forever! As soon as I got the notification in a text message I jumped on it! When this came out in 1976 I had just graduated from college in 1975 and was heading to my new job , moving from Miami to Sacramento Ca. It was awesome listening to this album and actually being in Ca. Riding my Harley Sportster. Besides music being so heartfelt to listen to it also brings those awesome memories back to us! It’s like Time Travel! Thanks for you passion
A double dose of Melinda today. I'm in heaven. Seriously I'm holding off on Hotel California because I'm questioning as a country where we are going. Digital currency and and things to their jackboot on the throat of us. I no doubt trust Melinda's ears but sometimes you gotta say no. Hopefully it will be available when I can justify the cost but not today.❤😊
Thank you Brian. This is a special album to me and I'm thrilled to have this beautiful version. The music really takes me back. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
There was something special about the music from the summer of 1977. That is one period of time where the memories of the music from that time really stands out for me also. I was 13 years old that summer and I have so many great memories from that summer, especially the music!
Down memory lane with melinda, thank you for that I was 10 years old when star wars came out everybody cheered at the end. As far as you being older we know you're really 30 have a blessed day. 😊🤟🔥
Haha! Thank you for the compliment. I didn't see Star Wars until the following year when my mom took me to the Drive In to see it. That Drive In is still open every summer. ♥️ Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.
Thank You Melinda. I read the other day my copy was sent!!!!! If the other One Step Eagles albums are a base line for what to expect, It's going to be a home run. I still can't believe they made the first album sound as good if not better than the mega rare best sounding copies. I have what has been proclaimed to be the best sounding version in the Steve Hoffman/ Kevin Grey mastered copy. I've never loved it. I can't wait to have a copy of such an important album that I will LOVE!
Thanks for the review Your references are from History of the Eagles Well worth watching (streaming or buying with a 77 concert bonus) Mine is on the way My Pretty Maids all in a row are One Steps Eagles Debut (excellent) and One of these Nights (murky, tonally off), HC original Santa Maria, 2009 Kevin Gray RTI, BG Studio Albums box Thanks for sharing your memories. I was 15, we were driving down to Florida the early spring from chilly Michigan at night with the family. HC came on the radio as we rolled down the windows and smelled the orange blossoms in bloom in the warm sping air. Magical I saw Don Felder in concert 2 weeks ago - wonderful The Last Resort is an epic song
I watched that documentary a few years back and some of the interviews stuck with me. They had some amazing stories. I also researched some old interviews of Don Felder, Joe Walsh and a 60 Minutes interview of the band. Tough work, huh? Lol. 😄 Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda , I really enjoyed your review ! Your thoughts essentially march my own .. this pressing has amazing bass and the vocals are so awesome ! It is very dynamic with a lot of detail. I feel like I can hear everything that have not been able to ever hear on my Original and even my old Kevin Gray pressing. This one totally outclasses those. I will not be searching for anymore HC pressings. When you talked about that period of time .. I can somewhat relate what I think about - First word out of my mouth when starting up the title track ”Hotel California” was “OMG holy --!!!!!” That pretty much tells you where this goes !!! I remember vividly , I think I was about 6 years old in 1980 or so and listening to this song come over the radio , on my Dads old Fisher Tubed Receiver with green lights. That’s the earliest I can remember and when my interest was sparked with music and equipment along with Dad playing his Akai R2R , Dual TR etc and beginning a lifelong love affair with Eagles and classic rock type music. anyways. It is so detailed , and powerful. It just jumps out with amazing presence and power. !! The drum kit is so clean. The bass is so clean and pounding. The harmonies and guitars , the imaging and richness. For example The right speaker with the upper registers , the cymbals or tympani are so detailed. I don’t think I’ve heard it like that on my original pressing. Life in the fast lane just attacks you but again .. very rich and clear. It strikes the right balance ! I can certainly hear things I haven’t heard before .. the guitars sound freaking awesome. Again the bass hits you very cleanly. Thanks again for the great video review .. quite enjoyed it. Happy listening .. subscribed :)
Thank you so much! It's great to hear that you are enjoying it so much too. What a great sounding version of Hotel California. I'm still so thrilled to own it. Because of the memories and great musical performances, it definitely packs an emotional punch. 🤗♥️ Thank you and take care.

Hi Melinda, great in depth review of this classic album and you are well deserving of receiving this promo copy from Mobile Fidelity. An absolute classic to add to your collection. It´s an album many of us have memories of, around the world. My wife grew up in Ukraine and Russia. Most of my albums she was not familar with before she met me in the UK. Yet , for this she said , Ah, Hotel California, I know this, she would hear this being played from the open windows of rooms on campus when she was student back in the 70s. For me, I was 20 in 1977 and played in a band with friends from school. I remember we initially thought about covering the title track. But our guitarist said ´Have you heard how many guitar parts are on Hotel California? I could practice for 6 months and still not master what is on there!´
Oh wow! Even in Russia they knew Hotel California. One of many things that makes this song special is all of the guitar work. It would be hard to duplicate. Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
Thanks for the review and impressions Melinda. This album takes me back to that time as well. I was 3 years older than you but still a kid. We moved to Houston in September of 1976 and lived in an apartment for a year while our house was being built. It wound up being there was a bar across the street from our apartment building that had all kinds of ruckus going on all of the time. My mom told me and my sister not to go on that side of the street but of course I eventually did. There was always loud rock and roll coming from that bar day and night and I actually enjoyed the music I was hearing when I'd be outside playing with friends. Sometimes I could hear it just laying in my bed at night before I fell asleep. But I do remember the first time I heard Hotel California and it was coming from that place. And I thought it sounded really good. The song and album became more dear to me later as I was old enough to be interested in girls. Especially when I was able to drive. Of course it had been out for a long time then but my first girlfriend, Sheila, really loved that album so of course I had the cassette tape of it always in my car for her. We used to just cruise around sometimes and listen to music and we must have listened to that tape 100 plus times it seems like. Going out and doing things, just driving around, going to the beach, and just a myriad of things we did to that soundtrack brings back a lot of great memories every time I hear songs on the album. Great memories indeed! Brian in Fort Worth 🎶
Mine hasn’t despatched yet from Mofi, hoping it will be soon, been looking forward to this release for ages and given the calibre of their other Eagles OneSteps I had high hopes, really good to hear they didn’t drop the ball!
You did a professional job presenting this One Step pressing of the Eagles Lp Hotel California! An Lp that brings back so many memories for yourself, surely you have to be ecstatic on it’s release. I can’t say the same applies to myself, but I am very happy for you! 👏😁👍
Great review Melinda. It was your best review. I am a huge Eagle fan and enjoy listening to them on a vinyl album. Your enthusiasm is motivating me to by the Mofi version. I am also a big fan of yours. Keep up the excellent work. Mike.
Wow! Thank you so much. This is a beautiful version of Hotel California. Please let me know your thoughts about it. I appreciate your kind words. Take care.
Great review on a classic LP that many of my friends call "The Guitar Player's LP" - if you play guitar you MUST have this LP in your collection - I myself was lead guitarist for the band WARRIOR and although we played proto-metal those spinning guitar solos on "Hotel California" held us spellbound - my sister was the one that purchased the LP as I was more prone to buy a Ritchie Blackmore album like "Rainbow"- this review reminded me to call my sister who celebrated her birthday a few weeks ago - she lives way up north so we haven't seen each other but we stay in touch by phone - great video Melinda!❤
I'm delighted that my video inspired you to make that phone call. ♥️ That's so wonderful. The guitar playing is absolutely amazing on this album. Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda this was a great video. I have always been drawn to your connections with the music and albums you own. We as record collectors often forget about the memories that we had when heard these songs originally. Yes Hotel California was played so much here in NYC just as in the rest of country but it was just that kind of song that made me sing and smile. My copy is on order so the singing and smiling will be happening again very soon.
I think you will be smiling and singing a lot when you hear this. The album is incredible and the memories are what matter most. Thank you and take care.
Just got mine today. The drums really pack a punch. I’ve heard the album, and the title song thousands of times, even so I got goosebumps listening to this one!

Yes Melinda music can evoke strong memories Even in England this album soundtracked a gorgeous summer Was only California dreaming at the time but six years ago had a great holiday in Ca. and this album helped soundtrack it......beautiful record with a lovely package from mobil fidelity As always great programme Melinda
Melinda, thank you so much for your review. I have it on pre-order, just waiting for my copy. I appreciate your perspective. We're about the same age. Vinyl has a way of bringing me back in time. A time machine of when I first heard a song. It brings back memories that streaming doesn't. Don't get me wrong, I think I would have been a rockstar having access to all the music available on streaming today. I envy having parties with unlimited access to music. But I still remember the sound of a needle dropping on a new album and playing it for my friends for the first time. Streaming can't beat that. Hotel California was one of them. I am fortunate to have grown up in the age where vinyl was the only real source of music I love hearing your perspective on how it brings you back in time. I can relate. It's emotional. It does the same for me. I think that's the attraction of vinyl. It brings back memories. I enjoy your channel.
I agree that there is something special about holding a vinyl record in my hand. Streaming it doesn't have that same effect. Streaming is good in some aspects of my life but I much prefer holding my record and remembering why this album is so important. Thank you and take care.
Really appreciate how you add something special about your life I’m 56 so I can relate to the ice cream truck and the gum ball at the bottom. Maybe I’ll stop the truck and splurge next time it comes through the neighborhood. I’m back and fourth Mofi Original Master, One Step, and now the Analogue Productions UHQR. Thank You
The orange sherbet was the cheapest item on the menu so that's what we had to get. I enjoyed it and getting to pick out something from the ice cream truck and be with my friends was the best feeling in the world as a kid. ♥️ I buy the releases that mean a lot to me. Lately, Mobile Fidelity has been putting out my favorite titles. I will also buy the UHQR'S when they release something that's special to me. Thank you and take care.
I’ll let you know what flavor I get Lol I pulled the trigger on the Hotel California One Step. I’m focused on getting all the Steely Dan UHQR but maybe wait for a review first since Pretzel Logic fell short on sound quality? I’m really disappointed on the Pretzel Logic although the sound is exactly what they intended it to be? I have been watching a couple real good reviews from Safe and Sound Texas Audio Excursion not sure if your familiar with the channel? Thank You
The ice cream truck came by got the 2 ball screw ball Hotel California blue raspberry and my wife got the Oreo Screamer? I have her one of my gum balls. It was 8.50 plus 1.50 tip Lol. It’s just another reason why Vinyl is such an experience!
Hi Melinda! I absolutely loved your review because you talk about all the memories that this album brings back. ‘77 was a special time for me. I was a Senior in HS. It was Hotel California and Rumors non-stop. I never tire of either of these albums and I’m looking forward to hearing the Mofi one-step! Thank you again for your review!
Both albums are still beloved today. I love that I can hear those songs and revisit my childhood home and those wonderful memories. ♥️ Being a senior at that time must have been amazing. 😀 Thank you and have a great weekend.
I pre-ordered my copy on Aug 25, they shipped it Aug 30 and I will get it on Sept 6. I cannot wait to hear it and you have just ratcheted up the expectations! I have the SACD of this one and look forward to my 5th Eagles One Step to arrive! Cheers
Congratulations on your new acquisition. "Hotel California" is a classic album. And, as for being an "old lady;" that requires context; if it helps, I'm old enough to be your father. 🙂 Thanks for the background on the LP and your experiences and memories. They always enhance the viewing experience. It makes me have more respect for the LP, although I don't own it. Your description of the sound quality is full of enthusiasm and excitement.
This One Step sounds so good! There was no way to hide my enthusiasm. 🤗 This was a release that I have been dreaming about for a long time and boy did they deliver. ♥️ The memories attached to the song Hotel California are incredible. What a great time to be a kid. Thank you for your kindness. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy You're welcome, and enjoy the LP! BTW, I was in high school when you were born; I content myself with the fact that I look younger than I am 😁😁😁
Love the shirt Melinda! Great review by the way. Hotel Califonia is a great album. Anyhow have a great day and a great weekend! Enjoy your promo copy of the Hotel Califonia One Step.
Great vid Melinda! This is a true classic of an album, i picked one up from our local Sainsbury Stores for £15 about five years ago, would love to hear this mo fi one. Every song on this is fantastic anyone out there who hasnt got this, go out and grab one, you will be pleased you did!
I always felt the most important song on the album is Wasted Time. Encapsulates everything about life and how we waste time on resentment and waste time on things that really don’t matter
Well said. I agree. Sometimes relationships that don't ultimately work out feel like wasted time but in the end, we learn from them. Life is about experiences. It's a beautiful and heart moving song. Thank you and take care.
Great review Melinda! My copy has shipped! Can’t wait to spin it! I also have the first mofi pressing of this album. Talk about memories! I had the original album during my childhood. New kid in town was overplayed on the radio lol I had the singles from the album in my childhood as well. Take care my friend!
It's a great album. The original MoFi served us well but like the Eagles say, there's a new kid in town. 🤗 I think you are really going to enjoy this One Step. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy I’m looking forward to hearing it soon. I really like the song Try and love again. Should’ve been a hit in my opinion. 🤗 enjoy the Labor Day weekend!
The album was released on December 8, 1976, according to Wikipedia. At the time of its release, I was 12 and our family lived in Saudi Arabia. I did not hear the album until six months later when my friend brought it with him when their family moved to Saudi Arabia. You could not get the new pop music in Saudi Arabia, so you had to rely on friends bringing it when they vacationed in the USA or moved in from the USA. I did not care for the album when I first heard it. It was just too soft and poppy for me. I was into hard rock at that time bands like Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Kiss, Bad Company, and the like. As the years went by and my music pallet expanded, I learned to enjoy and love this album. I had preorders in for Hotel and Long Run, but when they took so long to come out, I canceled my orders. I own great copies already. I may reconsider for Hotel. Thanks again! I’m still waiting for that MoFi visit video.
I was 10 that summer and can remember it as well. I worked doing construction labor for $1/hr and had saved up my money to buy this record as well as KISS, Love Gun and while visiting family in Wilson, North Carolina I bought both at a local K-Mart. Good memories.
YES!!! Finally the one release I've been waiting for. I use Hotel Califoria, side 1 track 1 as my litmus test everytime I make a change to my system. My copy is supposed to arrive Saturday.
@@MelindaMurphy I ordered 2 copies so I expected them to be numbered close together. NOPE. one copy is 415. the other is 3575. My impression after one listen. Bass is smoother than my OG pressing, hits hard but is not harsh. Cymbal decay is more evident on the MoFi than my other copies. absolutely dead quiet in the dead wax. Only things I didn't like was since it's a 45rpm album. I was getting up every couple songs and side 2 of album one had fingerprints on it and a light whisper of scuffing. None of which affected the sound.
I don't know where I was when I first heard the song 'Hotel California', but I didn't know who sang it; I just knew I loved it. My 1977 Toyota Celica needed a cassette player, so I asked a friend who was good at installing car stereos to help install one in my car. After he finished, he went back in his house and grabbed a cassette. He slipped it into my new player and that incredible guitar intro of 'Hotel California' started. "THAT'S IT!!!" I said, "That new song that I heard!!! This is awesome!!!" He looked at me with surprise and said, "Where you been? It's The Eagles." Anyhow, I own a first pressing of the album that sounds very good. Is the MoFi pressing better? Hmmm...Just might have to give it a shot. I'm trusting your word! Take care.
Wonderful story! You probably remember that moment in your car every time you hear the intro to Hotel California. ♥️😍 If you do buy it, please let me know your thoughts. Thank you and take care.
Always enjoyed Hotel California. Saw them do it on their ‘77 tour. Funny, the thing that really stuck in my memory was when Joe brought his grandmother on stage and introduced her to the crowd. Yeah. So many memories
Wow! That's awesome. I bet his grandma was in awe of his guitar playing. Joe seems like such a nice guy. What a show you must have seen. Thank you and take care.
You go girl! Awesome review! I am actually tempted to get this. 1977 was a special summer for me too. I started my first job and the record collecting bug began. I bought "Hotel California" later that year. So many good LPs came out that year.
Your still a young lady to me. It was a huge album in college but I never bought it since it was not what I was interested in. Now I do really enjoy the album
My virtual hat is off to your enthusiasm & lack of classic rock burnout on this often played record! I originally recorded it to cassette off the New Album Show late one Sunday evening on KNAC-FM here in California. I remember chatting about it at lunch in college (one of my friends heard the band preview it live at a concert the year before). I bought a reissue copy at The Nice Price in the '80's & was unimpressed with the sound. Now I have the 2001 SACD remix by Elliot Scheiner & Bill Bill Szymczyk which I'm going to revisit right now after watching your fun review!
I'm so glad you were inspired to listen to this record. I don't listen to classic rock stations so I don't hear these songs unless I play them myself. That's why I am never tired of them. They also hold great memories. Thank you and take care.
Dear Ms. M: The memories, and the details, and the way you say it...makes honest men gurgle with joy. Thank you for a wonderful video. Mofi is going to be gurgling too when their sales take off after viewers see your take on this album box.
I remember seeing Star Wars in the summer of 1977. And, we didn’t have any idea what this movie was about it. I remember buying Meco the disco version of the Star Wars soundtrack and I played the heck out of this record. Oh….the great memories of the summer of 1977.
Miss Melinda today I conducted a quadruple Hotel California shootout with a local friend and I sadly this MOFI 1-Step came in dead last. The Lee Hulko Sterling press OG came in third. The original MFSL pressing came in a strong second. The big winner was the 1992 DCC remastered by Steve Hoffman. It was the best sounding by a *W I D E* margin especially vs. the MOFI 1-Step which sounds absurdly thin and bright by comparison. Surely the All vacuum-tube cutting system is part of its special sauce. Oh and the fact that it's all-analog. Do yourself a favor and source out a DCC. You will be in for a shock. Best regards!
It's pretty amazing that people can hear the same music and come up with such different results. I respect you and your opinion and I'm glad you have the copy that you love the most. 🤗♥️ Thank you for sharing your thoughts. That's part of what makes this fun. Take care.
Miss @@MelindaMurphy I would be so delighted if (only with your prior approval of course) somehow I could send you a couple of video links which give insight the shootout I was involved in so I could get your opinion on the sound of the DCC pressing I had mentioned? Would you be game? It sounds to me like you did not have access to a copy and I really want you to hear it. Let me know if you would be willing and of course no offense taken if you opt out. Oz
Your hair looks fabulous! May the force be with you. Great video! My favorite from the ice cream man was actually the balsa wood and foam rubber band airplanes. I was chubby and my parents preferred me to get those instead of ice cream. Thanks Melinda! God bless y’all!
I ❤love that song 🎧 because it takes me back to the summers back in the 1970 I have a lot of memories when I was a kid at my grandparents shore house 🏡 I have the Eagles 🦅 greatest hits vol 2 on vinyl that’s one of the songs on that album 💿 lol 😂
Such a fantastic album hotel California is one of my favourites eagles are such timeless band desperado is also a fantastic album not sure if mobile fidelity have released it yet.
Hey Melinda, I really enjoy your videos and you are a great ambassador for vinyl collecting and enthusiasm. This is no exception. I wondered If you ever managed to get a vinyl pressing of Jellyfish’s ‘Bellbottom’ or their second album ‘Spilt Milk’. They are two of the best sounding recordings, along with Steely Dan’s albums and, of course, The Eagles albums. I would love to hear them treated to a one step process. They really deserve it. Incidentally, I loved the video you did a while ago, where you featured your turntable set up. Did you ever discuss the turntable and cartridge you used before the Rega? It would be fascinating for your subscribers to note the equipment that got you started with your vinyl passion! I can’t wait to hear this Hotel California pressing!
MoFi has done a great job with the Eagles discography but this one blew me away completely. It's so good in my opinion. 😍 I haven't bought the Jellyfish albums yet. I do need to give them a listen. I have made some huge upgrades to my stereo equipment so there will probably be a stereo equipment update in the near future. Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. It truly means the world to me. Have a wonderful weekend.
Excellent review Melinda, as usual. I’m not a big Eagles fan myself but at the time, I was kinda thinking about it. I loved “Dreams,” though. I think the first album I bought myself, (cassette), was the White Album and I was disappointed that it was not a greatest hits album. Fast forward to 1883 and I neglected to go buy a bass because the only drummer I knew wanted to do “Heartache Tonight” and he made faces at my Dead Kennedys picks. Side notes - we at least agreed that Machine Head was a very good album and he started to warm up to my Maiden albums. I was in 7th grade in 1977. I too did not have air conditioning or cable and did not see Star Wars until the second run the next year. Everyone saw it but me!
Haha! We finally got to see Star Wars. By that time, I had seen so many clips and pictures that it felt like I had already seen it. Lol. Thank you and have a great weekend.
Great video, Melinda! You are even wearing the tee shirt 👕. I turned 7 years old in 1977, and my favorite song on Hotel California is New Kid In Town. My father bought me the 45 single. I also saw Star Wars when it was released. My mom thought it would scare me, but I did just fine. 😊
This is actually a concert t-shirt from 2017. ♥️ Thank you. New Kid In Town is so good. Star Wars was nearly all we talked about for at least the next year. Lol. Have a great weekend.
I have an early copy of Hotel and now you got me guessing. I'm must have a look to see if it has the poster. Things were better before. Seeing new video of Los Angeles is extremely sad with the homelessness. The gum ball I had completely forgotten about that.
I haven't been in that area of California in a long time. The footage shown these days is depressing. That poster is crazy. Lol. Thank you and take care.
@MelindaMurphy Hi, me again. I got Hotel out, and sadly, it doesn't have the poster. I assume this copy never had. I bought new 1977 i believe ( the year i bought the bright red Chrysler tank ). The price on it is $ 7.99. Still sounds good.
That's up to the individual. To me, this One Step is the best I have ever heard this album sound and the vinyl is dead silent. This is an important album to me so it's worth it. Thank you and take care.
Wonderful album, and one that certainly deserves the audiophile treatment, I enjoy the entire record but for some reason the song "The Last Resort" is my favorite, I find it beautiful and haunting at the same time, thanks for sharing, Peace!
Yes, I would agree Melinda. Charity shops are bad for overcharging too. I get it’s for charity but it’s just ridiculous prices. They do the whole discogs pricing as you mentioned
You hit another one out of the park, again. Great job. I do have a question for you: From what I can see from your enthusiasm, it seems that you think this might be one of the best one steps so far? So my questions: do you have or have you heard the Santana Abraxas or Yes Fragile? Those seem to be the bench mark to judge these one steps. How does hotel California compare to those as far mixing, mastering, presentation, sound stage, ect, ect….? My copy will be arriving anytime today and I am so looking forward to taking her for a spin….. Thanks again John
Hello! I do have Fragile and in my opinion, this one is up there with if not better. They knocked this out of the park in my opinion. Please let me know what you think. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
Hi Melinda - I bought the SACD and it's also fabulous. I'm trying to decide if I want to spring for the one step. I usually decide which format based on the artist/music content and whether or not I think I'll want to listen to it in the music room on the turntable. This was one that I knew I'd like to listen to it in the car and in the family room system that doesn't have a turntable (though still an excellent system). But now I'm hearing great reviews, so I'm tempted to get it on vinyl as well. We have slightly different tastes when it comes to this album. Hotel California is a great tune but I think that New Kid in Town is the best song on the album. It was written by J.D.Souther who I wish had sung it for this album though Frey sings it beautifully. I think he also co-wrote Victim of Love. All that said, my favorite song is Try and Love Again. Maybe my favorite Eagles tune as well though there are many great ones. Randy has such a soulful hillbilly sounding voice and the harmonies on the outro are lush and beautiful. Thanks for another fun video. Remember "They will never forget you till somebody new comes along."
It's pretty interesting that you mention those two songs. I was excited for the Hotel California album because I love the title track, Life in the Fastlane and Wasted Time. The songs I can't get out of my head are Try and Love Again and New Kid in Town. The silky smooth vocals and harmonies have drawn me in.I am enjoying those songs so much on this One Step that they may be my new favorites. Lol. I never like to give advice about purchases because I don't know personal financial situations but I do think this is one of their finest One Steps. I'm sure what you have is great and you will stay happy. I also can say that I don't think you would ever regret buying it on vinyl. I appreciate your comments and I can appreciate why those songs are your favorites. Thank you and have a great night!
Thank you for letting me know. I feel the same way about it as you do. It's incredible. I appreciate your comments. Take care. 🤗♥️
Iconic album! Good score😊
@@SDsailor7 At times the vocals came seem a little brite but this is not an album to play in the background, for me this is an album that when you play it you want to feel the power of what the musicians were doing and this version perfectly captures that.

FINALLY!!! I’ve had my preorder about a year and was beginning to wonder if it would even come out this year.
I too have so many beautiful memories of the Hotel California album
(I graduated high school in 77) and of the band itself.
I paid $5 (I still have my ticket stub) for my ticket when I first saw the Eagles in 74.
I cannot WAIT to hear this!
Btw I still have an extra 1977 original still sealed.
Thanks Melinda! Great video as always.

What an amazing story. ♥️ Thank you and take care. ♥️🤗
And here I am, missing Scotland. 😔
I came to love the people and land during the year I was there. I couldn’t stay, but it changed me forever, and for the better.
The beauty of music is how it takes you back. New Kid in Town does it for me. Enjoyable story of your growing up, thanks Melinda.
Thank you so much. I agree that the memories connected to the music is what makes it so special. Thank you and take care.
Over from Mazzy and realised I had been following you!
I appreciate it! Thank you! 😀
I'll never forget asking my 7th grade teacher if I could simply look at the copy of this album that he brought in, to play for our class. I must have studied that thing, front to back the entire time the music played. Thanks for your review and memories.
It was so cool that teachers used to play records while we would do our school work. Those were the days. ♥️😀 Thank you and take care.
hi Melinda
really happy to have this masterpiece from Eagles wawo
but when you talked about the year 1977 and the atmosphere of that time you made me travel in time if I have a time machine I will only use it once to relive the 70s it was really the happiness of pop and rock music.
thank you for your generosity to share these moments with us.
I love watching you get so excited about talking music.
Lol. I do get a little worked up don't I? 😀 This is my passion in life and when a record is this good, it makes me happy.
Thanks!
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
I was 7 in 1977 as well. I was introduced to that album by my older sisters.😊
That's wonderful! ♥️🤗 Thank you!
Very nice! I remember going to Peaches when I was around 7 (I was born in 1970) with my older cousin and he bought Hotel California and i bought my very first record which was a Beach Boys "Surfin' USA" 45. Memories like these stay with us forever. Thanks for the video.
The memories do stick with us. You remember exactly what was bought. ♥️ Great music! 🤗 Thank you and take care.

Thanks Melinda. I did not order this version. But after hearing your review, I pulled out my Lee Hulko Sterling press. It sounds pretty darn great.
Yes, that one was done right the 1st time!

That's right. I am still healthy and happy. We can't put an age on that. Lol. Thank you and take care.
You are sooo right. I just got mine and listened today. Probably the best One Step I own.
Thank you! I agree. It's fantastic. ♥️ I hope you enjoy it for a long time to come. Thank you and take care.

MoFi sends all their records in their anti-static sleeves.

What a cool memory! I can only imagine how much the people of California loved this song. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
A double dose of Melinda today. I'm in heaven. Seriously I'm holding off on Hotel California because I'm questioning as a country where we are going. Digital currency and and things to their jackboot on the throat of us. I no doubt trust Melinda's ears but sometimes you gotta say no. Thank You Melinda. I read the other day my copy was sent!!!!! If the other One Step Eagles albums are a base line for what to expect, It's going to be a home run.
I can somewhat relate what I think about -
First word out of my mouth when starting up the title track ”Hotel California” was “OMG holy --!!!!!” That pretty much tells you where this goes !!!

So happy for you Melinda. Great review.
Thank you so much!

Take care.
Congrats on being first with a review of this release… no one has anything on this except you. Bravo to my favorite channel!
Much appreciated! Thank you! ♥️🤗
Me too! I had goosebumps during many parts of this album. MoFi knocked this one out of the park. 🤗♥️ Thank you and take care.

I know. Very sad to lose another legend. The Parrot Heads will be devastated. ♥️

Great video my friend and we still have them Ice cream trucks here driving around in my little town, and i do like this band to...and nice collectionto.
How cool. I would love to hear an ice cream truck drive down our street. ♥️ Thank you and have a wonderful long weekend.

Yes Melinda music can evoke strong memories
Even in England this album soundtracked a gorgeous summer
Was only California dreaming at the time but six years ago had a great holiday in Ca. and this album helped soundtrack it......beautiful record with a lovely package from mobil fidelity
As always great programme Melinda
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in California. ♥️ What a great album to remember it by. Thank you and take care.
You have a great way of telling stories!! I really enjoyed this video.
Thank you so much. ♥️🤗 I really appreciate it. Have a great day.
I was the same age in '77 :)
Life In The Fast Lane registered for me as a kid :)
It's still a cool song. ♥️🤗 Thank you and take care.
I buy the releases that mean a lot to me.
Cheers
Please let me know what you think. I am over the moon over this release. ♥️ Thank you and take care.
Nice to get a promo copy!!! You deserve one for all the VC entertainment you provide!!
You're very kind. Thank you so much! ♥️🤗
Congratulations on your new acquisition. "Hotel California" is a classic album. And, as for being an "old lady;" that requires context; if it helps, I'm old enough to be your father. 🙂
Thanks for the background on the LP and your experiences and memories.
Thanks so much! Have a relaxing weekend. ♥️
Great vid Melinda! This is a true classic of an album, i picked one up from our local Sainsbury Stores for £15 about five years ago, would love to hear this mo fi one. Every song on this is fantastic anyone out there who hasnt got this, go out and grab one, you will be pleased you did!
I agree! It's an incredible album that I wish everyone could own. This One Step blew me away. ♥️ Thank you so much! Have a terrific weekend!
70's are kind of a blur, Life In The Fast Lane. Mines coming Tuesday. Great review !!!!! Aloha
Haha! The 70's were a few minutes ago. 😳 Thank you and have a relaxing weekend.
New kid in town was overplayed on the radio lol
I had the singles from the album in my childhood as well.
I love what mofi did with these Eagles one steps.
Me too! It's wonderful. Thank you and take care. 🤗♥️
That's such a good story of "Life in the fast line". Thanks for sharing that gives that song more street credit. Can't wait for my copy to deliver.
Riding around with a drug dealer can sometimes inspire an incredible song 😀♥️ Who knew? Lol. Thank you and enjoy your weekend.
I'm looking forward to getting my copy! Come on Music Direct - ship it already :-) Great video Melinda, I love your stories. Enjoy the long weekend!
Thank you so much! I think you will be very delighted. 😍 Take care.
They have taken a long time to come out but the wait was worth it. The band Kiss brings back great memories of '77 as well. Thank you and take care.
15 when it came out. Looking forward my copy
I think you will really love it. Thank you.
The Santa Maria 1st pressing mastered by the great Lee Hulko is an awesome sounding LP. Have you listened to that variant?
I have not. I'm sure it's very good. 😀 Thank you and have a great weekend.
I was 10 that summer and can remember it as well. I worked doing construction labor for $1/hr and had saved up my money to buy this record as well as KISS, Love Gun and while visiting family in Wilson, North Carolina I bought both at a local K-Mart. Good memories.
Wow! Kiss and the Eagles. Add Charlie's Angels and Star Wars. What a year. I miss record shopping at Kmart. Thank you and enjoy your weekend.
YES!!! Finally the one release I've been waiting for. I use Hotel Califoria, side 1 track 1 as my litmus test everytime I make a change to my system. My copy is supposed to arrive Saturday.
Congrats! Please let me know your thoughts. In my opinion, MoFi slayed it on this release. ♥️ Thank you and enjoy your One Step this weekend.
@@MelindaMurphy
I ordered 2 copies so I expected them to be numbered close together. NOPE. one copy is 415. the other is 3575.
Mine is out for delivery today. I can’t wait to give it a first listen.
You are in for an amazing treat! 🔥♥️ Thank you and enjoy it.
You had me at the Poster lol to be Serious this was a very Well presented Video Thank You
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much!
It was an amazing time for music. This One Step brings this album to a new level in my opinion. Thank you and take care.
Your still a young lady to me. It was a huge album in college but I never bought it since it was not what I was interested in. Now I do really enjoy the album
Lol. Thank you for making me feel young. ♥️🤗 It's a great album. Thanks Steve! Have a relaxing weekend.
Thank you for the kind words. I do hope a lot of people buy this album. It's incredible! Take care. 😀
I remember seeing Star Wars in the summer of 1977. And, we didn’t have any idea what this movie was about it. I remember buying Meco the disco version of the Star Wars soundtrack and I played the heck out of this record. Oh….the great memories of the summer of 1977.
We were the first generation Star Wars fans. We had no idea that we would still be talking about it all this time later.
I have an original and a reissue. You just have to love that album.
I do. It's a classic album and I have never heard it sound this good before. Thank you. 🤗♥️

Your hair looks fabulous! May the force be with you. Great video! My favorite from the ice cream man was actually the balsa wood and foam rubber band airplanes. I was chubby and my parents preferred me to get those instead of ice cream. Thanks Melinda! God bless y’all!
Thank you for the kind words. ♥️🤗 My mom let me have the orange sherbet. I think it was a few less calories than ice cream. Lol. Take care.
@@MelindaMurphy push ups? I remember those! I think my folks were a better choice too!
I love that Greatest Hits 2 album ♥️ It sounds like you had an excellent childhood. Thank you and take care.
Such a fantastic album hotel California is one of my favourites eagles are such timeless band desperado is also a fantastic album not sure if mobile fidelity have released it yet.
Hotel California is available now on the Music Direct website. 🤗 I agree that Hotel California is terrific. Thank you and have a great day!
Hey Melinda, I really enjoy your videos and you are a great ambassador for vinyl collecting and enthusiasm.
This is no exception. I wondered
If you ever managed
to get a vinyl pressing of Jellyfish’s ‘Bellbottom’ or their second album ‘Spilt Milk’.
I haven't bought the Jellyfish albums yet. I do need to give them a listen.
I have made some huge upgrades to my stereo equipment so there will probably be a stereo equipment update in the near future.
Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. It truly means the world to me. Have a wonderful weekend.
I have the original vinyl. I saw Eagles May 7 1977 st Gröna Lund amusement park Stockholm, Sweden. I bought the album when released
Wow! That must have been an amazing show. Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy How wonderful you saw The Eagles in concert.
Hi melinda .i'm listening the US 1 st édition, LP sound perfect! Price 15 euros,!, Why spend more?😊
That's up to the individual. To me, this One Step is the best I have ever heard this album sound and the vinyl is dead silent. This is an important album to me so it's worth it. Thank you and take care.
@@MelindaMurphy i understand !🤗

I'm sure you will. It's worth the wait in my opinion. 🔥♥️ Thank you and take care.
Hi Melinda, Awesome video.Truly a timeless album.👍
Thank you. I agree, Hotel California is a classic. ♥️ Have a terrific weekend.
Wonderful album, and one that certainly deserves the audiophile treatment, I enjoy the entire record but for some reason the song "The Last Resort" is my favorite, I find it beautiful and haunting at the same time, thanks for sharing, Peace!
It's a tremendous song. Henley puts his heart in it. Thank you and take care.
Yes, I would agree Melinda. Charity shops are bad for overcharging too. I get it’s for charity but it’s just ridiculous prices. They do the whole discogs pricing as you mentioned
Charity shops should have a balance between helping their customers and their cause. Thank you and take care.
You hit another one out of the park, again. Great job. I do have a question for you:
From what I can see from your enthusiasm, it seems that you think this might be one of the best one steps so far? So my questions: do you have or have you heard the Santana Abraxas or Yes Fragile? Those seem to be the bench mark to judge these one steps. How does hotel California compare to those as far mixing, mastering, presentation, sound stage, ect, ect….? My copy will be arriving anytime today and I am so looking forward to taking her for a spin…..
Thanks again
John
