Great job and take on the MOFI Hotel California One Step. I've had my copy for awhile and I truly feel it is like hearing it for the first time. The title track with the intricate guitar work lead and rhythm just have such clarity. i have compared the One Step to my first press and the Kevin Gray re-master and know this MOFI knocked it out of the park. The other tracks are as you described IMO too and i am happy I elected to not cancel my pre-order. Truly enjoyed this video. Take care David.
Your take on "Try and Love Again" was spot on. I wondered much the same. Personally one of my top five Eagles songs and has aged beautifully. You omitted Pretty Maids, just surprised.
Yes I didn’t do a video segment on all tracks given time. If I had found that song to be out of the norm to the reviewed tracks, I would have included it.
I’d pay money to sit in that room to see / hear this process. I mean, you’d have to supply the beverages and snacks, but I’d be thrilled to take-in the professional shootout 🤘🏼. Great work as always.
I ordered myself a copy from MOFI yesterday because of your positive feedback. I'm looking looking forward to The Long Run from MOFI. Again, many thanks for the posting.
David this is the best review of this classic album I have heard I thank you And those harmonies on New Kid In Town are really something special I hope the Long Run my favourite Eagles album is just as good all the best David cheers Carl Australia.
Thanks so much! I’ve been so fortunate to so many like you letting me know! I truly appreciate you’re recalling my love for that movie/LP. Alarm is set for High Noon Tomorrow!
I will get my copy this week and I am looking forward to it. With the Labor Day weekend, the shipping was changed from the 6th to the 7th, but I hope it still arrives on the 6th! Cheers
You pretty much nailed this review. I listened to my copy and noticed many of the same things. I use Hotel as my litmus test everytime I make a change to my system. The sound of this release has shown me some sonic problems with my system that I'm not sure how to rectify.
Really, your review of the Hotel One Step makes me want to buy one. I bought that album the day it was released and it was always one of my 70's favs. I have eclectic taste in music from Allmans To Zappa and whenever the correct mastering and cutting is done it's like hearing elements of it for the first time which you confirmed here. Randy's vocals are excellent on Try And Love Again. This is oddly one of the more romantic Eagles albums considering it's theme is about death by hotel visit. Krieg does sme amazing work. I have heard it a number of times on different albums although I prob have about 25 or so Mobile Fidelity vinyl pressings.
Funny you mention the hotel death thing. I thought the movie The Shining could have used a few lines: “Wendy, you can check out any time you like, but you can’t never leave. Right Lloyd?”
21 minutes in the first review and barely a mention of sonic details. Sounds like most vc celebrities modus operandus. Thank you for more details this time around. Mine is on the way Is this stunning or is it too much tonally off microdetails like some crappy Mofi audiosheened One Steps that have been released and fawned over. Balanced or hifi ish?
Thank you for the detailed reviews I enjoyed them immensely with all the detail. I look forward to receiving my copy. I was 12 years old when the album came but it was an instant favorite of mine. New Kid in Town was always my favorite on this album I love Glenn Frey's vocal and appreciated it even more when I saw them live over the years. I will be seeing them this coming Thursday and it will be a new experience with Glenn not on vocals. I look forward to receiving my copy as well. Oh and I wondered about the FAIL too.. lol. Take care.
The Mofi SACD version of this album unfortunately sounds dull and muffled. I'm so disappointed. The same goes for the Dire Straits - On Every Street. It's the worst sounding out of all I've heard. The cover material is so cheaply made I was just speechless unpacking them. Mofi has lost their game in my view. I'm done with them

If you ever get to Dallas… :)
Absolutely excellent break down David. This is as good as it gets folks!

Thank you my Aussie friend! Appreciate your comments so much!
Just how many shakedowns does one need?
This question I ask myself every time Duran Duran (Rio) is remastered.
Tahanks David, can’t wait for my copy to arrive.
Hi David. Thought you might like to know. "That Thing You Do" is finally being released on vinyl. Pre-orders Tomorrow (Wed).
Thanks so much! I’ve been so fortunate to so many like you letting me know! I truly appreciate you’re recalling my love for that movie/LP. Alarm is set for High Noon Tomorrow!
@@SafeAndSoundTXAudioExcursion I tried to put a link in my comment, but I guess that's a no-no here. I'm going to get one too! Good tunes.
Great review as always David🤜

What type of sonic problems are you experiencing? Let’s see if we can help figure out a solution (No or low $$ of course)!
David,
A fresh cup of coffee, a good bowl of pipe tobacco, and. your review...a "great" way to start Labor Day.

My findings are perfectly ‘in-step’ with yours. It’s almost like we copied notes from each other. Hahaha.
Wow that’s amazing! Thanks for sharing that 😊
My copy just arrived but I’m away in the woods so will test it soon against my old copy that has a nasty scratch on one of the sides.
Be safe in the woods, you never know who might be hunting!!!
@@SafeAndSoundTXAudioExcursion Lakefront. Not deep woods. Biggest threat comes from whoever is working the BBQ. ✌🏻🍺👏🏻
thx

Thanks for watching and commenting. I think they do well in concert with the absences. If you’re seeing Steely Dan as well that’s a great show!
The drum goes boomer... 😂

I agree the MOFI Captain and Me SACD was a big letdown.
