I love how Sal's pitch was the most Grant Morrisonian thing ever. "The story begins to move forward and the narrative is no longer trapped, but only Batman doesn't age, because he's eternal and the only thing more powerful than story is Batman."
On Joel's idea I'll keep what he did with Tim Drake but include that he is also a info broker on villains and groups. He also does detective work for the superhero community and with the law. In order to keep what he does, a secret to his wife and the world he adopts the mantle of "The Question" for convenience. The only thing he prohibits himself from doing is crimefighting, but he will get his hands dirty if necessary.
Oooh 7:50 Have Bruce visit some of his old villians and almost have a friend like relationship, like him trying to help Harvey who is going through dementia and sometimes only remembers the good district attorney days and other times remembers only the hatred and fury of "the face"/big bad harv persona. Have it so Riddler is Bruce's chess buddy who openly talk about the good old days while they play. And of course penguin possibly as an older Vito Corleone type who tends to his birds in the peace of his own home with a bad ticker as a result of his unhealthy younger life. Also possibly Killer Croc is around and turned himself around and is has started up a Metahuman wrestling or MMA league.
"a desperate dude that just badly wants a kid. " man that pitch gave me goosebumps. Only thing 'Id add is that icon has a friendship with ollie, and on one of there joint adventures they discover the library together. So when he becomes the specter, icon can be the connector.
I have had a similar idea to Joel's for years except in mine Rose Wilson is Deathstroke leader of Task Force X and Harley owns a truck stop diner on the edge of Gotham with her daughter, who becomes a vigilante in Gotham called Yo-yo.
I feel like this was a really good episode when I didn't think it was going to be. I absolutely love Joel's idea and the idea of moving things forward. I feel like that's the thing that Comics is missing. Things end and things continue with other characters in the mantles and so on. So I would really love to see Joel's idea. However I would read the shit out of Sal's idea. That story sounds so intriguing. Either way great episode. Thanks, guys
I do genuinely hope that when DC does reboot, in 2025 or whatever, they do actually use Sal's Forever Crisis pitch. And that they don't just steal bits and do a hack job of it.
I loved both of your pitches! I think Joel's pitch works best on Earth-2 meanwhile Sal's pitch can kinda be like Kingdom Come before all the retcons so it's a future that COULD happen on Earth-0/Prime someday.
Sal's idea of addressing time compression in-story reminds me of what ended up happening in Doomsday Clock, though going in a very different direction.
Yeah DC wants Poison Ivy to be Swamp Thing already. I think in Damage, Swamp Thing said that the green is calling to her and he doesn’t have long to live.
wow Joel's pitch was a world i want to read about and if the execution of Sal's pitch is as good as the pitch itself then it would be one of the greatest comic events ever. There needs to at least be a Digital First were Sal's event creates the world were Joel's ongoing series takes place
Love the jon pitch alot, i can see jason todd running the league of assassins but he reformed them into somthing good, like guardian's in the shadows helping/saving people or orphans giving them a better life.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Bruce buying and refurbishing the Monarch Theater is something they did at the end of the lead story in Walmart's Batman Giant #2?
My Pitch: its 25 years later not 30 and during a crisis 25 years earlier involving the "Secret Society" the Justice League dies as does the OG Titans. Now its 25 years later the DC universe is in about the same condition it was 25 years before because there are still active Superheroes but they are not united but over the course of this adventure they will have to unite and form a Justice League: 1. Damian Wayne aka Batman- Age 38, Owner of Wayne Enterprises and the Batman of Gotham City wearing his Grant Morrison future outfit 2. Tim Drake aka Mr Oracle- Age 46, CEO of Wayne Enterprises and serves as Damian's behind the scenes Partner(At first the two brothers despised each other but over time there bond is stronger than ever, similar to Bruce and Alfred) 3.Kara Zor El/Kent aka Superwoman- Age 41, Metropolis's main protector and top investigative reporter for Daily Planet, Costume similiar to 80's headband one but with a more amazonian design. 4. Jon Kent aka Superman: Age 35, Metropolis new Superman and Reporter for the Daily Planet working for his mother the editior in chief and wearing the Batman Beyond Superman costume but sleeveless and wearing silver forearm gauntlets 5.Kai-Ro aka Green Lantern: the 12 year old Monk Green Lantern from Batman Beyond 6. New character/Wonder Woman: Age 25, Half Atlantean half Amazonian, daughter of Ocean Master and Renegade Amazon 7. Arthur Curry Jr aka Aquaman: Age 25 son of Arthur Curry and Mera and the Young Prince of Atlantis 8. Rex Stewart aka War-Hawk: Age 35 Son of Shiara Hall and John Stewart 9.Wallace West aka Flash: Age 40, Computer Engineer working for police for in Central City in charge of Cyber Crimes 10. Billy Batson aka Shazam: Age 37, Shazam by night, professional Baseball Player by day 11. Dinah Queen aka Black Arrow: Age 26, Spy and Superhero 12. Virgil Hawkens aka Static: Age 38 profession High School Teacher 13. Mary Grayson aka Batgirl: Age 15, daughter of Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon
At the end of Sal's event when everything reboots alot of hero's remember primarily the ones who didn't want a do over but a couple of people who wanted the restart remember too like Roy
I laughed when y'all started talking about the "Guy Gardner trying to lead the Red Lanterns and make them better" pitch. That's already Charles Soule's Red Lantern run. (Supergirl joins the RLs, too; it's rad)
Wow, these are two really strong pitches in their respective...styles(?) (One being an event, the other being a status quo). I'd read either of them in a heartbeat.
I caught the recording not the live presence BUT I like that Sal, Joel, and I are on the same page mostly. I'm at work listening to this and when it was asked what about swamp thing I was like oh make Ivy swamp mistress or mistress of the swamp. Then you guys said it and I was like awesome lol. That happened a few times. I would like to hear what you think about new 52 Wally and reverse flash and zoom. I pretty much want to hear more flash lol.
For some reason I would like to think Jason Todd ends up killing Talia and taking over the League of Assassins, so there is also some bad blood between him and Damian
@35:17 For Guy Gardner, Use the alternate future from Armageddon 2001 where he's become a motivational speaker to a fanbase of Proto -ncels about his macho philosophy.
DC 30 years later: Lois Lane as editor in chife of the daily planet. Dick Grayson as President of the united states. Batman finally takes down Ra's and clame the league of assians resurses.
About Superboy Prime, I'd love to see him redeemed. First, make him suffer for all the blood he's spilled. I'd have him attacked over and over again by time travellers, dimension hoppers, and sorcerers. He'd get slashed by magic and Kryptonite until he's near death and learns, to his horror that he cannot die. Not yet. He loses his powers and it takes decades floating around a yellow sun before he can even move his muscles. The anti-matter he absorbed from Alexander Luthor in "Infinite Crisis" has started to bleed out of him and as a result, he's regaining his senses. His over-whelming guilt has driven him to make amends. When his massive wounds heal and his original powers start to return he finds himself in the darkest, unknown realms of the universe. He creates a costume and begins trying to be a real Superman. Day by day, he asks "What Would Superman Do?" and he holds himself to it, until it hurts and then beyond. The beings he meets have no knowledge of his past and only see what he does in the present. It takes a long, long time until Prime begins to feel himself changing. He throws himself into danger, standing between the innocent and the evil without thought. He no longer has to ask himself what Superman might do, he simply **does** it. Eventually, he overcomes his own shame enough to begin wearing a blue-and-red costume and is known as the Mystery Superman. Decades go by, and finds himself on a dark, evil world ruled by the scion of Darkseid. Superboy Prime (who has over the centuries grown into a man finally) is on Apokalips. He realizes that it has all led to this. He fashions an "S" shield and molds it onto his costume. The Superman of Apokalips spent the rest of his days inspiring the lowlies of the firepit colonies and the slaves to Darkseid's will over generations are given a symbol of hope whether they asked for it or not. He didn't live to see the rebellion that liberated Apokalips once and for all.
I would have made starfire also a star sapphire and added her son with Dick Grayson, prince whatever to the new teen titans. His name could be Night Star
I know DC is doing the Black Label/Elseworld shit but people have been saying this forever. No one makes a better story than a fan. This stuff is gold.
I just had a pitch for someone to pick up the Alfred pennyworth legacy. So it starts out that Jason Todd is beaten to near death by the joker and it has such grave effects his body can't keep up and his mind is scared by all the abuse so Damian takes him in and he becomes his Alfred
30 years. After 2039 let's says in 2035 Bruce is 65 tries to save a hostage and has a heartatack and forced to pick up a gun for intimadation and quits as Batman. Dick is Leader of Spyral, Tim is Private detective. Barbra had became a cop and now Commissioner. Jason is Red Hood (dc punisher he will do it till he dies) Alfred dead. Damian went bad and Is the new Demons head. Leader of the League of assians. 5 years 2040 Terry Mcginus becomes Batman Beyond. Diana is still Wonder Woman. Clark is publisher of the Daily Planet and Superman in the kindom Come outfit (or Beyond costume) Jon is Superman too. John Henry is an elderstatemen of the DC Universe his daughter is the main Steel. Superboy and Kara and still out their. Barry is now in the Jay Garrick role. Too old and Wally is main flash with Bart right behind him then Wallace. Green Lantern are basically the same just older. The ring keeps you going.
I would have Jackson hyde take his father's mantel in order to represent it for good. A good black manta would be dope, or white manta, grey manta whatever
hey Joel, since you got a PS4 here are some exclusives you might like: INFAMOUS second son, uncharted 4,horizon zero dawn, God of war,and Gravity rush 1 and 2.
whats the difference between dionesium and the Lazarus pit? Because after the events of bloom in batman new 52 didn't he use dionesium to restore himself or something like that?
Why does Joel think that aliens don't age? Like, to them, we're just aliens so.... I get that they may have longer life spans, but hey, they may also have shorter
Maybe don't age is the wrong choice of words. They don't age like us is what I meant. In most future stories alien heros are still kicking around closer to their prime
What about a future where Damian becomes Batman just like Joel pitched but Bruce is stubborn and doesn't like his way so he brings in Terry McGinnis and secretly helps him become Batman
Guess you guys must have a de-powered Superman if he's in his golden years. My Superman is almost immortal and will be around for a few hundred years yet.
I'm just going to say it......is Tim Drake really the smartest? I mean Damien is a super genius and all and hes only 13 ...nobody wants to say it because if Tim isn't the smart one he kinda has nothing buuuut......
I love how Sal's pitch was the most Grant Morrisonian thing ever. "The story begins to move forward and the narrative is no longer trapped, but only Batman doesn't age, because he's eternal and the only thing more powerful than story is Batman."
Sal, holly crap. What a story. I'd pay top $ for it.
On Joel's idea I'll keep what he did with Tim Drake but include that he is also a info broker on villains and groups. He also does detective work for the superhero community and with the law. In order to keep what he does, a secret to his wife and the world he adopts the mantle of "The Question" for convenience. Suck it, Morrison. Sal thought of that without peyote! That's the type of meta story arc with heart and something to say that I live for!
I love Dick Grayson becoming president! By far my favorite pitch.
Oooh 7:50
Have Bruce visit some of his old villians and almost have a friend like relationship, like him trying to help Harvey who is going through dementia and sometimes only remembers the good district attorney days and other times remembers only the hatred and fury of "the face"/big bad harv persona. Have it so Riddler is Bruce's chess buddy who openly talk about the good old days while they play. And of course penguin possibly as an older Vito Corleone type who tends to his birds in the peace of his own home with a bad ticker as a result of his unhealthy younger life. Sal your pitch was ouutstanding!
I have had a similar idea to Joel's for years except in mine Rose Wilson is Deathstroke leader of Task Force X and Harley owns a truck stop diner on the edge of Gotham with her daughter, who becomes a vigilante in Gotham called Yo-yo.
I'm totally on board for the Alfred Pennyworth Monarch Theatre idea!

Would love to see a marvel variant of this episode theme
Dick running for President is pretty damn solid. His opponent should be Captain Cold. Then you could play up the Citizen Cold moniker.
"He's pretty cool"
I loved both of your pitches! I think Joel's pitch works best on Earth-2 meanwhile Sal's pitch can kinda be like Kingdom Come before all the retcons so it's a future that COULD happen on Earth-0/Prime someday.

Your Story was Epic Sal, very Morrison esque

It'd be cool if the old Justice League was now a Marvel Illuminati team keeping tabs in superheroes and protecting Earth in secret.
Love the jon pitch alot, i can see jason todd running the league of assassins but he reformed them into somthing good, like guardian's in the shadows helping/saving people or orphans giving them a better life.
“Justice Alliance”. Good stuff.

13. Mary Grayson aka Batgirl: Age 15, daughter of Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon
Joel AMAZING pitch! Loved all your character ideas, especially your concept for Superman! I swear, you should write a comicbook
Sal your pitch sounds amazing and very grant Morrison I love it 😍
Dammit Sal, now Forever Crisis is all I wanna read! This is torture!
At the end of Sal's event when everything reboots alot of hero's remember primarily the ones who didn't want a do over but a couple of people who wanted the restart remember too like Roy

That was a fantastic pitch Sal. Wow
Goddamn, some awesome ideas being tossed around here. Well done guys. Clearly put a lot of thought into it. Great stuff.
Esencially with tweaking Sal wrote an event and Joel wrote the tie ins.
10:00 - I was definitely think Jericho as the opponent as well.
I like what Joel did with Jackson Hyde Aqualad, but what about Garth? What's Garth doing?
You're Guy Gardner pitch is straight up Charles Soules red lanterns run lol.
i really love the captain marvel and marvel family being in one body just like in batman beyond comics which is so awesome and badass
this story you guys are making sounds like a good version of the kingdom come storyline.
Waiting patiently for marvel 30 years later...
Can you guys pitch what you think the DCEU should have been?
I caught the recording not the live presence BUT I like that Sal, Joel, and I are on the same page mostly. Sal, you gotta make this shit happen it was amazing

Joel and Sal do DC in 30 with all the villains! Especially flash family's villains

You sold me....love the pitch!
Sandman alibi - any of these realities is somebody's dream.
Marvel comics 30 years later anyone?
Sounds more like 20 yearrs later - but I really like Joel's pitch.
Best elseworlds exchange ever
hey Joel, since you got a PS4 here are some exclusives you might like: INFAMOUS second son, uncharted 4,horizon zero dawn, God of war,and Gravity rush 1 and 2.
Played most of them
New JLA I see as Justice Legion of Adventurers but that’s just me
whats the difference between dionesium and the Lazarus pit? Because after the events of bloom in batman new 52 didn't he use dionesium to restore himself or something like that?
I want to read Forever Crisis so bad right now 😫 Such a great idea Sal
We get it Sal you like Tomasi’s run. Try thinking outside the Tomasi run
No thanks!
I have one word for all this. SOLD!!
The UN Peacekeepers would be a lot more effective if they had Amazonian warriors.
Why would you give us Icon and then just have him die?
What about a future where Damian becomes Batman just like Joel pitched but Bruce is stubborn and doesn't like his way so he brings in Terry McGinnis and secretly helps him become Batman
Sal I got a title for your Batman pitch. Batman: Eternity
Love the pitch eps.
Wouldn't 30 years be like 30 months in comic time? So what like only2 1/2 years...
Only thing I would change in Joel's pitch is that Dick and Barbara need to get together
I loved sals idea
Dick Grayson's true job is Detective
Joel where does Terry McGinnis fit in your 30 yr plan?
Yay super sons in the future
Would it be cool if Barry led the JSA like Jay.
30 years later for Marvel?👀
Everything about Sal’s pitch is great, except Bruce essentially becoming a villain, not sure how to feel about that.
I'd make the DC30 the MC2/2099/Ultimate of DC
Back issue justice league 3000 please
Where is Terry?
Guess you guys must have a de-powered Superman if he's in his golden years.
My Superman is almost immortal and will be around for a few hundred years yet.
Dick Greyson for President!
I hope grant morrison is watching this
Cool
Anyone but Jim Gordon can be Batman. Commissioner Gordon was awful as the Bat.
I'm just going to say it......is Tim Drake really the smartest? I mean Damien is a super genius and all and hes only 13 ...nobody wants to say it because if Tim isn't the smart one he kinda has nothing buuuut......
