Over the video was very good, but there is one thing that was not mentioned that has now cost me. I replaced everything perfectly fine following the instructions and it was all replaced flawlessly; or so I thought. When it get to the part about disconnection the battery and LCD connectors, this video doesn't explain the importance of disconnecting the battery first before the LCD. After everything was back together, I heard a noise as if the iPad turned on, but there was a blank screen. I did some additional research and it seems that I have blown the backlight fuse and that happens when the unit isn't powered down and the LCD connection is detached before the battery. With a blank screen it's hard to tell if the unit is actually turned off before replacing. So again I think the video was really good except this could have been highlighted.

I only need to replace the glass on mine as the LCD is intact. Do I need to do all of this just to replace glass?

    Help.
I replaced my glass digitizer and now there is a black strip (1-2 inchesbwide) going down the screen.
When it powers on, only the right half of the apple shows and when the home screen loads there is the black bar going down the middle.
I tried reseating the ribbon to the LCD again and still nothing. Maybe I'm not seating it right, but it feels like it snaps in. Or maybe I pressed too hard, or should I press harder on the ribbon cable? Did the LCD go bad?
Does it need to be completely sealed before trying or what can I do to troubleshoot? I haven't closed it up yet so it's kind of halfway open.
The directions I followed left the battery connected, but I ended up disconnecting the battery (AFTER I disconnected the LCD) so I hope I didnt mess anything up by doing that.
Please let me know how to test, and what to check. Thanks

How does that opener work? Does it heat the glue. If so than how on earth is it powered and how comes it doesn't melt the lcd

I know it's been 4 years, but for anyone else's benefit: you can fill a stock with (DRY) white rice, and depending on the amount of rice and the wattage of your microwave, heat it for a minute or two. It provides a nice, gentle heat and will stay warm for quite a while. BONUS: We use rice socks for sports injuries, soothing joint pain, and helping to warm the bed on cold winter nights.
