Proof that two Queens can share a stage. I adored these two ladies while growing up and I never knew they performed together. Thank you for posting this.
Man, I can't believe they never did a movie together! Or a Broadway show. But it's wonderful to see them at least together on a special like this. Going to treasure this rare gem always. Thank you!
Now that’s entertainment. Angela Landsbury deserved so much more appreciation. Julie Andrews has always been a star. This is truly priceless. Thank you so much for restoring my faith!
Dame Julie and Dame Angela still going strong today! I agree; shows like this don’t exist today. It puts a smile on my face every time I see them perform!
@@susanford2388 how very true, I'd also add that angela actually did keep up fairly well with julie and I was shocked/pleased to not be able to hear the difference in their voices at certain points.
Wow. This shows the difference between an actress who can sing, and a singer who can dance. Two real troupers. Julie must have been exhausted, but, on with the show!
I love that Julie’s nastay, messy phase coincided with the late 70s. What an incredible nebula of creation. 😂 (Nothing but adoration and worship for Julie and Angie, though 💜)
Funny, why do you write your comment in spanish? I am french and it never occur to me to write a comment here in french. I see spanish comments all the time. How presomptuous it is to think that everybody speak spanish.
I absolutely adore Angela Lansbury. I saw her 4 times in Blithe Spirit in London 2014. She was wholly fabulous, the whole cast was but she, in her 80’s was truly exceptional. Julie Andrews is pretty fabulous too. I remember her when she lived by me on Wimbledon Common. That tells you how old I am! This popped up when I was watching Jason Manford hosting the London musical stage awards. Sorry but his version of Razzle Dazzle is, to put it kindly, dreadful ! Listen to Carol Channing sing it at The Hollywood Bowl! Nearly all of our musical stars have left us now. Anyone remember Elisabeth Welch or Josephine Baker. Real stars!!
Her face and body were so expressive…she was a perfect character actress. She could go from snooty high class to raunchy low class characterizations in a blink of an eye.
Amazing that they’d put something like this together for a TV show! Wouldn’t/couldn't happen today. Reminds me what crap we’re willing to watch nowadays.
Miss this talent ... no one acts anymore, Just walk in & be yourself.. drole. These early years will remain as learning tools on... HOW TO ACT 3. Take on the character 2. Create what the character Is 1. ..... hmmm. DON'T BE YOURSELF
Yes I was surprised also. I also think the tap sound were dubbed. There were several times when I thought Julie's foot movements were out of sync with the sound.
@@jameshamilton8245 I think I read once that even Eleanor's sounds were dubbed because she needed to felt her shoes or something so they wouldn't slip.
Thank you very much for this video! Happy birthday, Angela! (Sorry for my English).
@@howtubeable Have you seen Cilla Black's return - and at a Royal Variety Performance at that! (ua-cam.com/video/0LOIGfjcxZE/v-deo.html - skip to 2:35, then watch to after 5 [there are lightbulbs!]) Talk about disconcerting … [But good on her!] (US viewers may not know Cilla [except perhaps as a '60s singer]. Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrew's, and Steve Lawrence. Three powerful performers. Then, now and always.

Agree. Angela Lansbury was phenomal! In films, TV, broadway and more. Mega, multi talented.

Two great Dame's of the British Empire. Love them both.🇬🇧

Ms. Lansbury sadly passed with just days from her 97th birthday.
God ! I'm glad I'm old. I witnessed real talent.
Amen! I was thinking about that the other day...
Me too
OMG I’m not 3 minutes in and I love it. Such a great venue for these two gems. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Julie and Angela still going strong today, 50 years later. Love ‘em.

Sadly not true anymore:(

What class Angela had. May she RIP now.

Brilliant! What forgets just what good all-round hoofers actresses were back then!
Julie Andrews is a legend!
Rest in Peace Angela
Two British talents that America recognised and burnished. There’s nothing like a Dame... unless it’s another Dame
Literally two Great British Dame's🇬🇧
What a performance!! Such talent!
I wish shows like this still existed today
Unfortunately the talent and class are lacking in contemporary performers
God, you people are so moronic. You can like different things without being like, "TALENTLESS! CLASSLESS!" Touch grass.
And in tv & stage producers. God the Dollar Almighty. Alas.
Here you see two-stage tigers. Thanks for posting this. Wonderful.

yes
Well it's Dame Julie's show, so she's technically the host. But Steve Lawrence is doing the connecting bits!

Is the tap that Julie does real??!! Wow
Actually, no. Julie Andrews is certainly multi-talented, but tap is not a specialty of hers. But she can certainly fake it well

Also - Angela Landsbury taps as well. Look for the opening of either the Oscars in 1973 that she hosted. She taps in that.
Yes - she really does tap. Also check out Thoroughly Modern Millie's elevator scene.
She learned taps even before singing. She comes from Vaudeville. And she was taught ballet and taps. So, yes, she taps.
