I truly do not understand why we can't have this kind of TV show today. We have so many great performers still working. They could tell their stories, sing and dance. It doesn't have to look like the old times.

A few years ago I had a very mild stroke. Although it put my in the hospital, the Barrow Neurological Institute to be specific, during my recovery I would tease my treatment staff by asking them if I would ever be able to tap dance again. They would react quizzically and say "Well...". I would quickly relieve their consternation and smile and say "Well I wasn't able to tap dance before."😀
That reminds of my Grandad after he had his knee replaced. He complained to the surgeon he wasn't able to move it from side to side. The surgeon told no one was able to do that!

As a twenty something, I would say, try to raise her on things like this! I grew up watching more old movies than new ones. Little House on the Prairie, Andy Griffith, The Sound of Music, The Lucy Show, Swiss Family Robinson, Dick van Dyke, Shirley Temple etc. I'm honestly the better for it!

Gene was just as much a perfectionist as Fred if not way more so. He drove every co-star to the brink. Poor Debbie Reynolds who was crying with bleeding blisters pracroxinf for hours and hours while he browbeat her even though she was only 19 ans had never tapped and was thrown into the deep end my dancing with the world's greatest and a seriously talented dancer in Donald O'Connor who could pretty much hold his own against Gene but you can definitely see the lack snd polish abd control in Donald's technique vs the perfect Gene. Cid Charisse said her husband knew whether she was dancing with Gene or Fred as Gene would leave her in bruises. And Gene was so particular that he would re dub all tap numbers they did and filmed in a movie and go in a small box or small stage and re-dance/tap all the numbers over again--and even tap and dub whathe deemed weaker performances of co-stars...that's how much of s perfectionist he was!!!
This is something I never knew I needed on my recommendation, but I am so glad it did. This made my day watching this, watching two legends being with each other and dancing too is great.
At the time, Jack Warner didn’t think Julie Andrews was famous enough to star in the film version of My Fair Lady. He wanted, and got, Audrey Hepburn. As a twenty something, I would say, try to raise her on things like this! I grew up watching more old movies than new ones. Little House on the Prairie, Andy Griffith, The Sound of Music, The Lucy Show, Swiss Family Robinson, Dick van Dyke, Shirley Temple etc. I'm honestly the better for it!

How sweet. I've loved Julie Andrews since I was in the third grad (since the 70's) and this is the first time I've ever seen her tap dance.
I have always enjoyed Julie Andrews,she is a true classic

So beautiful! Makes me think of my dad, who absolutely loved, Julie Andrews! Miss watching him listening to her albums, in our living room. Such good memories!

Where Astaire strivedvfor perfection, Kelly had a natural fluidity. As for Mlss Andrews just an amazing talent. We were lucky to have recordings of there work.
Astaire was one talented very nice man.
Gene was just as much a perfectionist as Fred if not way more so. He drove every co-star to the brink. Poor Debbie Reynolds who was crying with bleeding blisters pracroxinf for hours and hours while he browbeat her even though she was only 19 ans had never tapped and was thrown into the deep end my dancing with the world's greatest and a seriously talented dancer in Donald O'Connor who could pretty much hold his own against Gene but you can definitely see the lack snd polish abd control in Donald's technique vs the perfect Gene. Cid Charisse said her husband knew whether she was dancing with Gene or Fred as Gene would leave her in bruises.
And Gene was so particular that he would re dub all tap numbers they did and filmed in a movie and go in a small box or small stage and re-dance/tap all the numbers over again--and even tap and dub whathe deemed weaker performances of co-stars...that's how much of s perfectionist he was!!!
Cyd Charisse, who should've known, compared the them by saying Fred Astaire had better coordination than Gene.
This is something I never knew I needed on my recommendation, but I am so glad it did. This made my day watching this, watching two legends being with each other and dancing too is great.
So fun to watch. I miss this kind of entertainment.
I'll never get over that they passed on her for My Fair Lady.
If they hadn't she wouldn't have been Mary Poppins. Personally, I'll take the trade off

At the time, Jack Warner didn’t think Julie Andrews was famous enough to star in the film version of My Fair Lady. He wanted, and got, Audrey Hepburn. Warner also asked Cary Grant to play Henry Higgins, but he refused, saying that Rex Harrison _was_ Henry Higgins and no one else could play the part. 😎🎹
