Was so happy to see this film in the cinema when I was 15 years old. Must have been 1979 or 1980. I’ve never watched it again as I’m a bit worried I see it way too differently as a middle aged man. As a spotty adolescent these Warriors were so cool. Memories.
I grew up in Hells Kitchen the Westies was the big gang. To give them a compliment they did watch out for the neighborhood. My group of friends were our own entity and trouble makers. 1979 15 years old and the warriors movie comes out. What a great depiction of NYC and the unground night life. Some people would not understand NYC unless you lived it. Good times, many memories. Joined another gang a few years later the NYPD. The streets taught me how to be a great cop and how to treat people. 40 years later I can’t believe the memories. How a movie or song can bring you back to a time. A lot of my friends are dead and I’m amazed I made it! Enjoy your youth 🎉
I remember watching "The Warriors" with my father when i was a kid, and i remember this song at the ending. Born in 1989 and growing in post soviet Bulgaria in the 90s, i was getting my first glimpses of the world outside the Iron Curtain. My father loved this song because of "The Warriors" movie, but because of the message that had. That you fight no matter of the circumstances, and that you must fight for what you beleive. My father had a very difficult childhood, he was a child of divorced parents, and back in the soviet times that was a big stigma for a kid. He had been bullied, he had been put on watch by the local KGB, and he was not fitting in soviet society at all. But most of all, he was freeminded. Around 1984, when Perestroika and Glasnost took place, there was more relaxed regime for movies outside the Soviet sphere. And people could actually watch movies outside the Iron Curtian. One of the very first movies my father watched with his then girlfriend, was this movie. That was their first date, but my father was determined to impress her, because he had many girls for one night, but this girl impress him with something unique - she had character and resilience, and she stood for herself. They both really enjoyed the movie, and after that night my father invited her to his apartment. That girl that he invited was my mother. In 1985, she gave birth to my big brother, and in 1989 - to me and my twin brother. When i hear this song, i think of both my parents who are now in heaven, and about the movie "The Warriors" which is connected to them both.
Evidently the filmmaker began his career as a comic book artist. So he naturally brought a lot of that to the set. It shows, and it fits this movie so well. Played a big part in making it what it was, and is now.
One of the most underrated movies ever, I hope that they never remake this movie, it’s fine just as it is and it brings back some old memories from my childhood, can you dig it

During High School in Italy we study The Odyssey by Omero, the Ancient Greek poem about the adventures of Ulysses (Odysseus) and his companions while getting back to Ithaca, his home island and reign. The Warriors is the modern version of Odyssey, equally epic: Swan is Ulysses, they now use the Metro instead of boats… A lot of similarities and many differences too, of course. The Lizards vs. The Sirens!
Love this movie. When it first came out ,real gangs were fighting at places where ever they played. Now the movie is a cult classic . Still love it today !!
i remember seeing this at knutsford civic hall when i was 13 . went with a couple of friends and when we walked out half of our school walked out too. those were the days for sure. great film and great memories
This is not the original soundtrack version by Joe Walsh being used for this video. This is the Eagles' version of the song that they recorded later for The Long Run with their signature backing vocals.
One of the reasons this song has such a big impact at the end is because there was no music for quite a while, just a lot of great action. So when it does start playing there is a huge emotional impact of completion and a kickass song.
I saw The Eagles in Liverpool 2022 and they played an amazing extended version of this song. I could have left the gig after that, my evening was complete.
Growing up "in the city" NYC (1970s ,1980s Bronx) that is, just makes this wonderful film hit differently. Interestingly, The Warriors was not that far from reality. When I was a kid, I remember seeing gangs with vests with their gang names sewed on their backs, wandering around the NYC streets. Some had motorcycles others had bicycles. Most just walked the streets or rode the bus and subways at night. Some relaxed by their hangouts, hung out at the pinball machine hall, pool hall, or video game room (that was the early 80s) or stood on the corner admiring the young ladies or spray painted their gang names and symbols on building walls and subway lines. Other times they were setting up to battle another gang for turf or "turf wars". Some even got killed over a woman! It was scary at times, yet very interesting as well. To me, These were large "families" associating together , protecting each other and also what was their turf.,, you know... what they owned. You were fine if you minded your own business and treated them with respect. Do the opposite and you had problems. Their main issues were rival gangs who started trouble, tried to mess with their women or were very disrespectful in other ways. Just dont get caught in the middle. 70s, 80s NYC was a very dark, grimy place yet an interesting place with lots of character... real ppl who were tough skinned and knew how to take a joke and speak their mind. and to think...The Warriors depicted all that energy into an hour and 30 minutes. Check out those deleted scenes in the movie. They have websites dedicated to showing them. I think they add power and feeling to the movie! Great film. Will always be loved by many!
My 35 year old daughter and her cousin, who is 33, didn’t know what to watch one evening. I suggested this, they were drawn into it and now they’re fans. They’re part of the cult now
If you are a boy and a man, this stories is about how much fun a life without thinking about taxes or step up carrer. The story of this film is very touching and always reminds me of my childhood friends and teenagers where we always adventure and do various things without worrying about the harshness of adult life. Youth is the best time of a human being. A time when amazing stories happen and this time many people want to repeat it again when they can turn back time.
I will never forget the impression this film made on me as a 15 year old seeing it when it first opened. And to this day l still maintain that one of the greatest sequences in movie history is when War Chief Swan and the Warriors deliver the Rogues' leader, Luther, the real murderer of Cyrus, into the hands of the Riffs, who realize the Warriors have been falsely accused and hunted, and out of total respect the Riffs part ranks and give the Warriors safe passage, walking into the sunrise reborn to survive and fight another day, as 'ln the City' dramatically plays to the closing credits. Pure absolute cinematic gold.
Me and my wife and kids visited Manhattan over the summer. I made sure that during that trip we spent one day riding a subway to Coney Island. Stepping out of that train and into the bright light of the day reminded me of the film's ending (something I always wanted to do since I first saw this film as a kid when it came out). I bought a Warriors Coney Island shirt that is now my favorite to wear when hanging with my bros.
A movie I will always love. Swan and his crew fighting their way back home, Swan and Mercy's love story, the music...timeless. ❤
I didn't know all the drama associated with this movie and how it was almost not made. Glad they did. Great song and movie.

Will always love this movie…. I was a biker once….2024
Awesome movie. Great memories. I just hope they don't try to make a remake of this film.
One of the reasons this song has such a big impact at the end is because there was no music for quite a while, just a lot of great action. So when it does start playing there is a huge emotional impact of completion and a kickass song.
I saw this movie in Chicago in 1978 while attending school at Great Lakes, IL. This brought back memories... Thanks for posting.
Que gran película, tenía 11 años cuando la vi de estreno CDMX 1979
Remember seeing Warriors in theater. Freshman year HS Awesome!
Joe Walsh - the greatest Eagle ....... 🦅
The movie 🎬 was amazing and fantastic, but it shouldn't take away from this masterpiece, literally!!!
greatest ending song for a movie ....period
Masterpiece!!
A fitting song for this movie. A kick ass version of this tune. Joe Walsh is awesome !!!
I'm a Warrior.. love this song 🤟
This is a song that I will put on at house parties and everyone loves...whether you are pop/soft rock or a head banger...
Resect....😊
Always a hit! These guitars and such. (I can smell the beach already!)
I did the same thing years back.
Im here in 🤑🥶🇮🇱
