But we are all a product of our society, culture and genetic heritage. And parents do have a huge influence on how you ultimately turn out in life. It’s just another typical movie promoting ‘muh individualism’ to the white guy 🙄

Dear Mr. Vernon, We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club
For me, the 80’s were high school and college. I didn’t realize how great they were back then but I really enjoyed them. I’m glad for the experiences and how the music from that decade still plays loud and proud today!
Watching this is like witnessing my own largely misspent youth flash before my eyes. It makes me sad that these days are gone and we've all grown older. Take me back to the 80s when things were carefree and so much less complicated.
@@anthonyobryan3485 you got that straight - side note - it's a dark irony, but I had a friend Anthony O' Brien (different spelling) a fantastic guy, but a wild boy, who died tragically, very young, not even yet 30, doing something silly and dangerous (like we all did) while drunk. 70 years old here. I was 31 when this movie came out….my favorite movie of all time. Even though it was about teenagers and what went on in their world, it could apply in some ways to older adults at the time too. I think it’s about claiming all parts of the self and not letting others define you. Having awareness and seeing others for their true selves… a hard thing to do in this culture sometimes.

Look my way? Never love me? Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling Down, down, down Will you recognize me? Call my name or walk on by? Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling Down, down, down, down Hey, hey, hey, hey Ooh-ooh, ooh-woh Don't you try and pretend It's my feeling we'll win in the end, I won't Harm you or touch your defenses Vanity, insecurity uh-uh! Those school lockers were the same ones in my school back in 80's. Proud to be gen-X. 80's ruled!!! Seeing those school lockers brings back flashes of memories of my high school years. Conversations with friends and classmates while standing at those lockers. Just memories......
i was on the football team and they used to paint hand crafted signs for each of the players on friday before gameday and put them on the lockers. we would come in with our jerseys on and a shirt and tie. small school but lots of spirit. that day all the girls were eyeing even a geek like me.
Most brilliant movie from that era. It really captured the vibe of 80's high school culture. Every time I see it I feel like I'm in a time capsule, seeing/experiencing that part of my life once again.
The feeling that I got in the end, that everything would turn out okay, was (and still is) an amazing feeling! Congratulations all who made this film, including the unknowns. This film was bigger than all of you, and it is an American positive Legacy, (no matter how we end up right now.)

I’m turning 40 but had an older brother so caught all the great music
I'll be 42 this year. Can't work out where all that time went, but I'll always be grateful for the 80s.
90s was great too for a teen 🍻
47 in 2 weeks!!! Dammm I was so there miss these days!!!
The Best John Hughes movie which expressed the emotions of High School personalities!!
The amount of times I've seen this and other incredible 80s and 90s movies on lists of "Movies that didn't age well" is frustrating to a level I can't place into words. Always need to come back and listen to this to help cool off...
Yes Boo it was an excellent summary
The 80’s best generation ever .....
I should know I lived it my childhood 80s.
Love this song!
It will be.
If we get up off our awesome asses and fix this shit.
GEN X was kind of cursed, by definition, but we were gifted, too.
We've ignored these gifts, taken them for granted.
Not anymore.
It sure was! I lived it!✌😎🤙
Sure, crack and AIDS
Who can't relate to this movie?? It identifies the 80's in SO many ways, not to mention the music that we all grew up with!! Long live the Breakfast Club!! ❤❤❤😊
They don't make movies like this anymore
Can't help but to *SMILE* watching this Awesome compilation. 80s were the BEST of times and I feel bad for the generations that missed out on such incredible times.
This was THE defining movie of my high school experience. Hated high school but loved this movie.
It's amazing that John Hughes was able to capture what it means to be human to this generation. This movie should be a must watch and the David Bowie reference is masterful. No fluff, not gimmicks, pure magic.

Omg I miss my youth, the 80's, better it will never come
That film was pure gold... i never tire watching it so many fond memories of my youth 🇬🇧
Dear Mr. Vernon,
We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal.
Does that answer your question?
Sincerely yours,
The Breakfast Club
i liked for the pure effort u put into this
Hell yes!
Who else could hear Michael Anthony Hall reading this, and then the rest of them personally saying what they are at the end?
P.S. Screw You !
Love this movie ❤️
For me, the 80’s were high school and college. I didn’t realize how great they were back then but I really enjoyed them. I’m glad for the experiences and how the music from that decade still plays loud and proud today!
John Hughes,
He made so many cool films.
Funny,
Cool,
Cheesy
Awesome
Hands down the best teen angst movie of all time.
Perfect cast, perfectly acted, masterpiece.
Watching this is like witnessing my own largely misspent youth flash before my eyes. It makes me sad that these days are gone and we've all grown older. Take me back to the 80s when things were carefree and so much less complicated.
Youth is wasted on the young.
Rest in Peace Tony O B.
Me too
Oh si😪
Today is 40 years, Brian wrote a letter
This song goes with The Breakfast Club like the perfect sunrise over a beautiful landscape, it turned this great movie into a masterpiece. Everything about this film is timeless.
sunset
Well said 100% facts
I was born January 4th 1990. I just missed the 80s. Had i only been born 10yrs before. The people who grew up in the 80s are so lucky lol. You guys had the best music, movies, and just culture overall back then.
There can be remakes of the 80s.
But the 80s can never be replaced.
i remember my father showing me this movie
and i remember sitting next to him
and watching him re-experiencing his childhood
slowly crying on the inside
i think he shed a tear or two, which he extremely rarely does at films
i remember him looking over at his kid
seeing himself in me
seeing one of his favorite movies captivating me
at the end i shed a tear too
this is a breathtaking film that was made excellently
one of the very few movies i don't consider movies
but
cinematic experiences
70 years old here. I was 31 when this movie came out….my favorite movie of all time. Even though it was about teenagers and what went on in their world, it could apply in some ways to older adults at the time too. I think it’s about claiming all parts of the self and not letting others define you. Having awareness and seeing others for their true selves… a hard thing to do in this culture sometimes.
Thanks to this movie my high school started Saturday school! Damn you John Hughes lol!
Mine too. I had to go once.
The 80's and 90's truly made a mark on all of us who were lucky enough to grow up throughout those decades 💯
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh-ooh, ooh-woh
Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Give them everything, inside and out and
Love's strange, so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don't you forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you forget about me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way? Never love me?
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by?
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh-ooh, ooh-woh
Don't you try and pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end, I won't
Harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity, insecurity uh-uh!
Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby
Don't you forget about me
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't you forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
And you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on, call my name
Will you call my name?
I say:
Ooh la, la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
When you walk on by
And you call my name
I can't associate this song in any other way, other then The Breakfast Club. I hear this song, and Breakfast Club pops into my head. That was one iconic movie and still remains a hit to this very day. It's a timeless piece.
Classic film. Excellent decade!
this movie is a true masterpiece, addresses all the problems of every teenager but in a beautiful but real way...every person who sees it feels identified with it...i love it! can watch it over and over again and never get tired of it! i'm 35 but i would've loved to be a teenager in the 80s
I know it's u fck tard
I'm a punk from the 60's and this song send shivers up my back. Super classic of the ages.
@2ndservace Punk meaning small kid. Sheesh.
@2ndservace Punk DID exist in the 60s. Just like grunge existed before the 90s.
Search on "texas punk" or "northwest punk" ...
You will never understand the 80's if you were not there with us.
Was!!
Wonderfull, no cell phones, no internet...best times
Magical time period
Just Like you will never understand the 60s and 70s ------ much better then the 80s
#facts
So glad that this movie is forever captured on film and the best soundtrack ever. So happy for y’all that were part of the 80’s, the best music generation ever. I’m right there with you. Sincerely, The Breakfast Club Fan.
My dad introduced me to this film many years ago. Rip dad 💔😭 he'd be chuffed that I still watch it I do love this film 😁🤘🏼
One of my top 5 films of the 80's - love it.
Over the past 30 years, I see this film from a different perspective each time I watch it. Still worth the time.
Most brilliant movie from that era. It really captured the vibe of 80's high school culture. Every time I see it I feel like I'm in a time capsule, seeing/experiencing that part of my life once again.
Couldn't of said it any better!!
The feeling that I got in the end, that everything would turn out okay, was (and still is) an amazing feeling!
Congratulations all who made this film, including the unknowns.
This film was bigger than all of you, and it is an American positive Legacy, (no matter how we end up right now.)
Can we go back to the 80s? It wasn't perfect but there was so much hope in the air. Simpler times...so uncomplicated. Great music.
I can’t begin to put into words what this song means to me. Happiness, sadness, loss, love, fondness… don’t you forget about me…
Amazing song, great singer and great movie
I met Emilio Estevez when I went to USC Film School..he came to one of our classes..got his autograph too..🎁🎁🎇🎆💝🎈
It touched many issues that still resonates today more than ever! Classic! Definitely a millennial worth watch!!!
Molly Ringwald was definitely something ...
I saw this movie while my older cousin was sitting for us. I was in kindergarten but I remember Molly Ringwald that’s for damn sure.
Yep. And Ally Sheedy.

Fortunately, I lived through the eighties. I grew up with the myth of American films! My dream has always been to attend an American high school! When I look at this masterpiece my dream comes true. Immense Hughes. Thank you very much for the emotions you sent me. A hug from Italy.
My birth certificate says I’ll be 51 next week but while watching this I was 12 years-old again.
I felt the same way. The song was so perfect for the teenage angst that I couldnt quite comprehend yet. It all looked like the magic land that was up ahead of me. This movie.
Dude, what happened, where did the time go?
Such a joy to watch. Your passion shines through every moment
This is truly the anthem of Generation X.
Yeees 🤘🏽😛🤘🏽!
We were the latchkey kids of the 1970s. We've always been forgotten.
So glad to be a Gen X guy and not a millennial
