Imagine, instead of faceless quotes, that someone was actually saying these things to your face everyday.
Instead of hearing things that boost your confidence, make you feel worthy and appreciated, you hear:
    1. You're boring, travel more
    2. Sure you might think your life is fun but what is really fun is drink, drugs and rock n roll.
    3. You haven't lived until you've skydived. Or been on that swing in Bali. Or been on a yacht. Or impressed the world in some way.
If a person was saying these things to you, you would deem them manipulative. These quotes are no different. They exist to manipulative you into thinking you're just not good enough, but maybe if you spend more money and disrespect your values, you might be.

I feel this so hard omg. I’m the type to want to live every day as if it was my last but then I get tired so easily and I just end up giving myself a break for a couple hours. I think it’s important to have the desire to want to live life to the fullest but also reminding yourself that you don’t have to stress about fulfilling that 24/7.

I would suggest you read a book by Timothy Gallwey called the inner game of music. I think it will help you separate out the more critical part of yourself that sends you the often too loud and wrong message that too many people hear and too often listen to.
I think meditation and/or sitting in quiet will also help you quiet your inner critic who is usually claiming we never do quite enough.
When what most of us often need is more down-time.

Well Lana, all the things you mentioned as being “epic” are temporary activities. So a person that needs those things feels like there is something lacking in their life until the next time they do something epic.
Truly living to me is enjoying the present moment with gratitude, as it is, not looking at it as if the moment has something lacking.......because it doesn’t. Joy does not come from some activity external from yourself, it comes from within you. That’s why doing something that is considered mundane by most, is not mundane for a person that is joyful no matter what they are doing.
Funny that you mentioned divorces because relationships are basically the same idea.
People believe they are incomplete without being in a relationship with someone. But you are a complete person. You are looking for another complete person.
You want to mutually extract joy from each other.........if you look to another person to fill a void you believe you have, no person will ever be found to fulfill everything you feel is lacking in yourself. You have to look inward first, at yourself first.
If someone tells you that you “complete” them, run away. 😊

    • @ivansalamon7028
      @ivansalamon7028 3 роки тому

I would agree with everything except the part that so thoughtlessly advised that we should run away from people who say we complete them. I get what you are trying to say, but I disagree. Firstly, what constitutes a complete person? What is a complete person? From my understanding, most people are absolutely incomplete, indeed foolishly seeking something external to satisfy great needs and turmoil, longings of their spirit. However that said, not *everything* we seek comes from the inside, and while it is dangerous and sad to put the totality of your happiness and existence in one person, a partner has a big role and they can "complete" a part of you that they are meant to, which is not to say you will be complete, in my eyes. Just that they are fullfiling their role as your significant other.
Even Plato himself said opposites attract because lovers themselves are attracted to someone opposite of them, precisely attracted to qualities they themselves don't have, so that the company of the other may cause us to learn and attain said qualities we do not have, that they may "rub off" onto us. At the most basic level, this is masculine seeking the feminine and vice versa.
Still, even if none of this is part of what someone means when they say "you complete me", it does not absolutely as a rule have to have negative connotations. It probably signals codependence and lack of internal insight, but may also simply express deep appreciation and gratitude. Or both. That is absolutely not something that should be a decisive factor in whether you "run" from someone or not. The emoji at the end of your post made it seem wholly insincere and snarky.

  • @intentionalliving7326

I think sometimes we are seeking “reasons” to feel content... We are indoctrinated to think we NEED a reason! One can simply decide to be content or happy or fully present and alive ✨
But then, there would not be as much consumption... ☺️🤗💕✨

The concepts of "achievement" and "success" and "epic" RUINED my mental health between 18 and 31 years old. It wasn't until a stress-induced epileptic fit and breaking my shoulder in the process caused me to STOP. No more stress. No jealousy. No more aspiring for the impossible and hating myself for not achieving it.
A "normal" life is perfect. But to allow that is to be mentally well through acceptance. So so important for relationships and a fulfilling life.

I feel like sometimes the older we get the less wonder we feel at doing something "ordinary" which is a little sad. About a month or so back, I remember sitting in a train and it was one of those rare times that I didn't have my eyes glued to my phone since my phone battery had died. For a while, I was just zoning out and then a memory of train rides I used to take with my family suddenly just hit me- and it's funny because taking a train just seems like such a mundane everyday activity now but when I was little, it was pretty cool to me- getting to travel halfway across the island, getting to peer at interesting passengers. I wonder if maybe as we grow bigger, the world just feels smaller and things that were fun just end up seeming boring, so we end up chasing the bigger, better and brighter.

I'm so bored of life right now! I wish I could go to sleep and never wake up. I wouldn't KMS. I didn’t ask to be born and now I have to live until I die
I think about this concept literally every single day of my life, the fact that I did not ask to be born and that I was born to two people who were definitely not meant to be parents. And now, because of their recklessness and poor decision making I must continue to live my meaningless life. This doesn’t sit well with me. Now, I can either suffer through life until I’m elderly and pass away or off myself which I also don’t feel like doing. I just feel very tired and that everything I am doing is pointless and unimportant and I wish I had just never been born because my birth was equally as pointless...

On the same token, allow that discomfort to be there. If people see their life as boring when compared to social media, they should ask themselves if they truly have a need that has been left unmet. Maybe they realize that they have not taken a vacation in a long time, so they see pretty pictures of a tropical destination and feel like their daily routine is dull. Perhaps, they are stressed and burnt out. Now, rather than resenting those who made the posts, they can either switch things up at home or save up for a (small) trip to add some variety. Give yourself permission to reflect on the nature of your thoughts and feelings and bring your attention inward. If you are perfectly content with everyday experiences, no one is shaming you for not having an adventure-packed trip every weekend. Use your reaction as a guide to what deeper beliefs or desires lurk beneath the surface of your conscious mind.

I just realized. Sometimes I watch movies and get a little sad because things start to change. I want to see how the character lives their normal life in their normal room. Sometimes I don’t even care about the climax. Maybe that’s why I enjoy your channel so much. It’s very calming. I don’t have to worry about extremes with you. The volume is low. You always have the same makeup and hair, the background stays the same and the topics are consistent. The way you talk is also calming. Thank you for encouraging me to think about this

This is so important and a lot of people don't realize it. I alternate between a slow-paced life and a lot of travel/'epicness' and I can definitely say that neither brings more or less joy. You may get an adrenaline rush, but believe it or not, the novelty wears off after awhile. True happiness and contentment only comes when you are present, grateful, and fully immersed in an experience. Whether it's skydiving or playing with your dog.

We've also totally forgotten about the marvel of our lives right now! In a day, I woke up in the morning in a bed, with a roof over my head, came downstairs where I could enjoy a coffee with my parents and brothers and ate my breakfast in front of the TV. When I think of 'live life to the fullest' , I think about my dad. He passed away this year at 55, he had a severe blood disorder called haemophilia that caused joint pain, bruising, internal pain and bleeding and a lot of hardship from when he was a baby. When he died I got so many messages from people he knew telling me all of the kind things he had done for them (I had no idea). He would do favours for his elderly customers even when his business was not doing great. It is hard to even have and maintain a family or a business that includes physical labour with this kind of disease, and somehow he did all of this, I didn't even really understand the absolute severity of what he had to live with until it was too late. He never really complained. I had never seen him walk straight my whole life but I thought it was totally normal for him to be climbing roofs. He taught me to go for everything I wanted and he is the reason I don't get scared when I am challenged.
There was no fear in his eyes when he died.
I know he died young but I honestly feel like in his life, with his condition he achieved so much. His dream was to have an 'ordinary' life and I didn't even realise how much it took for him to achieve that until he was gone.

It's funny because I just had this conversation with a friend the other day. I told her how I never feel bored. Like never. Even when I'm doing absolutely nothing at all. I'm happy with that. I never allow the pressures of society to make me feel as though I need to accomplish a million things, go a million places or possess a million things in order to fulfill myself or to feel complete. I show and teach my children to appreciate the littlest things. Gratitude. I am too an introvert. I am also an only child and I've found that social platforms do have a tendency to falsely influence your sense of contentment within yourself. So that is why for about 2+ years now, I only have a UA-cam account. I've never really cared what others think of me and would never allow myself to follow others since very young. So deleting my accounts have been the best thing that could happen to my inner peace. And I don't miss it. 😊

There's that idea of "having a lot of things to impress people" that is generally criticized with "experiences are more valuable than things" or "creating exciting memories", but at the end they produce the same result, it seems.
So now we may not worry about material stuff, but we can't stop thinking about how boring our lifes are and how we should be living more like X or Y person. That "exciting life", the traveling and "experiences" became the new "material things", now that is in some sense the product that we're constantly seeking to impress people.
