Always put the best tyres on the back, regardless of FWD or RWD. That's because lifting off the throttle transfers most of the mass of the vehicle onto the front wheels, lightening the load on the rears & causing them to lift slightly. With the worst tyres on the rear, this can cause lift-off oversteer (where the back of the vehicle suddenly tries to overtake the front). Having the worst tyres on the front can lead to understeer (where the front of the vehicle is reluctant to turn) but this is more progressive &, therefore, more controllable. Any decent tyre fitter or mechanic will refuse to put the worst tyres on the back.
Shit tyres on the front causing boat loads of understeer lead to snap oversteer anyway because when they finally regain traction it will jolt the back end sideways. The front tyres are also what stop your car, its important to have good tyres all round.
I'm in full agreement with you but it seems so common new tyres just on the front only. Makes me wish all cars were rear wheel drive it would sort out this issue., the argument often is if they move the rear tyres to the front they will need more tyres sooner.

The 1.8 TFSI came with two output levels: 120HP or 160HP. The difference in these is in the ECU software. Mine was the 120 HP and it had just been equipped with new pistons, conrods and cam chain kit on goodwill by Audi dealer. Reason for engine rebuild was high oil consumption (mileage was 75.000). There was a bill of £5.500 in glovebox which had been split 80/20 between Audi and previous owner. I had the engine re-mapped to 160HP ("at least", said the guy behind the laptop) and that made the car 'rather nippy'.
Matt I know plates and buffing are something of a thing for you😜 Original plates always a good idea as indicates it hasn't had a bump. How about replacing the rusty screws and adding the plates to your buffing rota?
Hi Matt. Just some heads up. Best tires should always be on the rear of the car because having understeer is safer than oversteer. Also these engines until about 2013 are one of the worst Audi ever made. Many people reporting these burning even 1l every 1000kms. Not all of them but many of them after a certain amount of mileage. They need the piston rings upgraded to the next version which is not a cheap thing to do. Avoid petrol audi 1.8/2.0 tfsi 2008-2013.
These burn oil for fun, being a Gen2 TFSi it will likely be suffering the piston ring issue that plagued these. Never buy a TFSi or an Auto on the B8 platform....almost a guarantee of failure...! Water in the boot is common as the inner rear cluster seals fail and floods the boot and corrodes the wiring in the bootlid

Totally agree, I remember seeing very clean A4 Sport from this era with the 3.2l V6 Quattro for sale which really appealed to me (but not the VED cost)
@@ApurtureSci Very nice! I have a 330d SE, and I must be the only person to have actively sought out one with the smallest wheels and no M badges. Also gives me faith that the previous owner was a modest chap who didn't rag it.
@@Matt-jt1ic Awesome! Makes me sad everyone goes for the sportiest, stiffest, try-hard trim by default these days. Merc don't even let you buy anything below an AMG Line on most of their cars anymore, sad
I'm from Walsall and i appreciated that alliteration 👍
I think he said Warsaw, Poland 😅
Rent/buy a unit and put a Mechanic on wages
A retired or semi retired technician who wanted a little part time work would be ideal. Good shout!
im 22 and would happily drive an audi a4. audi's to me are elegant and make perfect sense. i wouldn't go for the se model though as you miss out on a few things.
I have a 2012 facelifted A4, a really comfy and sporty sedan. Beige leather interior with bang & olufsen speakers, just great.

All I'm thinking as you go round is 'new tyres' and 'Jimmy the magician'. Then you opened the doors.. Well spent rejuvenation Matt. £6899 price all day long .I know you just want rid and to claim back the VAT but this is a quality motor, you can punt😉,
The 1.8 TFSI came with two output levels: 120HP or 160HP.
It's looks like a new car now!. Great in the white colour. It will prove a real bargain for someone. Ideal as a smart runabout 👍
Matt I know plates and buffing are something of a thing for you😜 Original plates always a good idea as indicates it hasn't had a bump.
How about replacing the rusty screws and adding the plates to your buffing rota?
My brother is in Warsaw for a trip. I very much appreciated the alliteration.
Header tank level 😂😂😂 come on Matt 12:14
Car looks amazing after the work you put in tbf!
THE WHEELS OFF MY FILING CABINET!! bloody excellent Matt 😂😂😂😂😂🎉
Reckon Matt doesn't overspend on cleaning it up it's the initial buy price that seems to get him
These burn oil for fun, being a Gen2 TFSi it will likely be suffering the piston ring issue that plagued these. Never buy a TFSi or an Auto on the B8 platform....almost a guarantee of failure...! Water in the boot is common as the inner rear cluster seals fail and floods the boot and corrodes the wiring in the bootlid

underrated unreliable fun!
someone always beats me to the sponsorblock segment
Thanks for the review Matt.
you win some you lose some. im sure all your customers can be grateful of the work you do on prepping cars for them because then you have zero come backs! how i wish you had a dealership in South Africa you would be very very rich😁🤑
Matt still better profit then full week of hard work in warehouse 👀
That's the 118hp version, honrrenoudlsy slow. Imagine that in a 1.5 Ton car!
118hp is fine for like a small car, but not in a mid sized saloon.
Stage 1 remap = 210BHP 310NM
Lovely little Partridge reference early
Is it me or are you back in good step Lad?
Back to the videos we all love, missing the Reno channel updates though. Keep ya self going again as is good for you.
Nice choice of watch. The Explorer II is always understated.
I noticed an audi a4 on autotrader for 3k whilst watching this and I was like wow this looks so similar....and then...sadness :(
You will have made a future owner happy and no doubt he will come back and buy another car and refer you to friends and relatives. Consider it a good investment for the future, good deeds always come back not always when you expect it to!
I had a very early 2008 Audi a4 with the 1.8T and it had 160,000 miles, burnt oil fairly well. Didn’t get more than like 20mph, only had the car about 5 weeks was an absolute dog. I would love another in good condition one day.
Prefered my Skoda Octavia Lauren & Klement to the Audi A4 when I was looking to change last yeaf and ended up with a 2013 Skoda Superb Which was better than anything else i looked at and the rom inside is fantastic
It's basically an AUDI anyway. We had an A6 and a Superb at work even most of the buttons were the same .
@@chrishart8548I don't disagree a lot is very similar but the Superb has more room than any car in it's class and the Octavia was more spacious than the A4 in the back
Those are literally the exact ages and models that I'm looking at. Haven't decided on Superb Vs A4 yet though.
@@hotbeefo There's no comparison between an A4 and the Superb .... The A4 is smaller than the Octavia never mind the Superb .... You can stretch out in the back of a Superb
who is gonna buy that for 6k!?? Ive just bought the exact same car in October 2023 for £1800, full service history with the bill for a recent cambelt, the body work is almost pristine compared to this one too! and mines the 2.0tdi !!!!
Yeah but his one is tfsi so is ulez free a tdi of that year in UK isn't, big difference
I absolutely 100 % knew one of the doors would not work. Btw its almost always only the actuator, and they are only £25 for a patent part and 20 mins to fit.
Exactly what I thought, had 2 go on me, cheap fix for an annoying issue
Anyone else hear "hello darkness my old friend" playing on the last zoom in..?
All the condensation on the back window would explain the mould and smell etc
I don't think is peak Audi like some people have mentioned, but it was definitely when they started turning things around and you can see the design language be carried on through the generations.
The Ecsta is a tyre by Kumho which is a much better brand than Autogreen
Well ok, I’ll watch it, uploaded 3 seconds ago 😂 I’m not a fanboy 😂😂😂
Better check why there is no coolant in that container
You’re not a Looser Matt!!! I know that a 1988 Ford Festival L doesn’t have a rear wiper and the LE does!!!!!
There is a guaranteed Partridge quote in every video ! Please never change 🎉
8:44 nice! An aquarium in the boot
Hi matt great job on the audi, you always do a great job on your car's good luck in saleing it from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
Not a bad car, i prefer the gen before myself. Mainly as the interior was just pure class.
Your timing is impeccable. I'm looking to buy an A4 Avant or Volvo V60 as a reliable, dependable and predictable family workhorse to replace a knackered 2007 Ford Focus and was about to search for 'Audi A4 Highpeak'. I'm beyond caring about fashion or asthetics and don't want the hassle of something more interesting but less reliable like a Jag or Alfa Romeo or something that would have likely been used as a Taxi. I just fired up UA-cam and there the video was without needing to search. Was starting to think UA-cam had read my mind and noticed you only published 30mins ago
The volvo v60 wins all day everyday in my opinion
@@Cloud007. A4 B9 is 100x better, built so well, smooth, quiet, and comfortable. Even the 1.4 TFSI is more than enough.
Buy an Audi A4 built after 2012 they're better. S Line trim is a must.
Buy a high spec Skoda Superb better than both
As said above, get 2012 or later, for earlier years the equivalent jag or alfa will be much more reliable...
