Doug Demuro recommended your channel, I'm glad I checked it out. Your videos are lovely, I absolutely adore your ability to capture viewers' attention without unnecessary high dopamine editing or constantly shouting, like some other youtubers do. Cars are a main focus and you often tell great stories about them, it's a joy to listen to.
Welcome aboard. Have a look at the series last week about driving to Italy with the Countach and visiting the Lamborghini vineyard. That's what Harry does better than just road tests. Also Harry's Farm that makes the mundane cycles of farming in the UK interesting.
Harry thinks like an owner who has to spend his own money and live with his choices...as opposed to a journalist...who's invariably driving a car he/she can't afford, will never own and has a vested interest in giving a good review so as to remain on the manufacturer's invitation list.
Between this channel, Harris and Catchpole, we've got it pretty good these days. Just need to get May to do more cars and less gin and we'll be sorted.
The design is really outstanding. Of course Harry communicates his oppinions, thats the reason for his channel. At my age (61) I can call myself nostalgic too, and be honest, all those modern touch screen, display controlled, fumbling knob cars are not anymore mine. Anyhow, technology will and should not stop to progress forward. The ones who like it (and can afford it) should enjoy. Thats my opinion. Please keep on going Harry, and thanks for this episode.
They’ll enjoy it for few months till it’s been in the shop sorting out different issues. “Tech” has ruined cars but humans like being promised convenience and newness.
No biggie in my opinion. Expecting a small independent company like AM to develop their own engines in-house would be a crazy demand with regs as they are these days
Eventually turning off the technology with be turning off your insurance policy. I expect insurance companies will try and get out of paying out if it's obvious assistance systems were deactivated.
I think they have addressed the display on the production cars - I borrowed one from Aston Martin Bristol and didn't notice it being a little small. Amazing thing to drive though and surprises me how different it feels to DB12 which I've also driven. Great video as always!
As a Vanquish owner I do like this car. Its not a GT but also not an Porsche GT3 which is good thing and sits somewhere inbewteen. Seen this in grey and dark red, and it looks amazing. Orange is not my colour though ! I wouldnt swap it for my Vanquish but would happily get it if I could het a good price for my daughter!
In 3 years this Vantage will be under $100k, minimum. Pre-owned previous generation Vantages are now selling at $35k. Buying an AM new is quite a frivolous indulgence given the depreciation of $2000 a mile. Now doubt it is a looker, but most Aston's are....and congratulations to Harry for reaching 3/4 of a million subscribers!
I'm not sure. AM are massively restricting supply to dealers and only building to order these days. The big problem with AM of the past 15 or so years has been them building cars willy-nilly and overstocking dealers, crashing values. That dynamic is a thing of the past now
It's a good-looking car. I sense it leans more towards sport than comfort. That might be deliberate so as not to step on the DB12's toes. I think there should be two basic packages, tour and sport.
Interesting, watched Monkey Harris' review of the same car but on very smooth continental roads. He reckoned that it would struggle on UK roads, but that the company had developed the car as-is for European countries with better roads that will account for more sales. Everything he said is what Harry experienced and called out.
I'm glad you mentioned it, Harry. Yes, I think the "sporty" Aston should be mid-engined, and the front-engined layout should be kept for the GT models. This one does seem a bit of a handful, judging by the effort required to keep it under control.
I imagine that colour is hard to really capture on camera - the car looks amazing in it, never-the-less. And I realise more and more that my commuter-bubble 2019 Zoe is the newest car I will ever own; I really, really, really hate those "driver-asist" electronic nannies and even worse if you need to switch the damn things off EVERY time you drive your car - in my Zoe, they at least stay off when i choose that option. The post 2024 ones are like disqualifying me as an responsible adult with a drivers license and the worst is that it is probably all the screens that distract the modern driver that make them mandatory. No screens - no problem...
Harry captures the essence when he calls the engine a hooligan. The ride still being stiff at its softest setting makes it a bit less desirable compared to other modern sports cars that do have a GT mode. Streets aren't race tracks and have lots of imperfections that makes stiff suspensions tough to live with over time as older Vantage owners can attest.
The car seems to be at war with itself. Why not just ride better so it’s a better car 95% of the time and have all those modes for when you’re at a racetrack. How will it grip when it’s wet? It’ll be flashing TC every 20 yards
Sadly, Aston lacks confidence and clarity. They can’t figure out what they want to be. A GT car? A hard edge sporting car? Are they taking on Porsche? Ferrari? Lamborghini? They just feel lost.
Aston is again making cars that I find appealing so I am a fan of the styling but am I the only one that finds the instrument binnacle to be about 4/5ths scale vs the rest of the instrument panel? That would certainly contribute to the smallness of the instrument display screen. Chris Harris noted in his review that he doesn't feel that Aston tuned the Vantage to work well on English B-roads, which makes sense given that they sell far more cars outside Britain.
Hurray! Harry's on to brighten the dark Sunday evening! 👍🏻 Good looking car, engine seems impressive but those instruments and haptic switch nonesense look irritating! Dash too high...looks too firm for the road?
Always tricky when the press car is ~£50k more than base and you then have to turn off loads of 'festures' but that's the bonkers situation in 2024. I question the practicality, if you can'y open the boot from the outsisde, but maybe I have different standards. A very lovely and superb car, and I liked that you positioned it. All in all, I think I'll pass, but I did wnjoy the vid. Good work there, Harry.
I think it's a cool car. More muscley than sporty really, but I think it looks fantastic and I like it's a bit of a hooligan "Grab it by the scruff of the neck" kind of car. Thanks again for a great review as always Harry! 😊👍
Interesting car and a great summary. I feel it would’ve been better if this car recognised it’d be much better as a gentleman’s super-Grand Tourer rather than try to be a de-tuned track car, which doesn’t really sit well with.
I was chatting with an owner of one in the Woolies carpark a couple of months ago. He knew very little about his car. They're so expensive very few actual motoring enthusiasts can afford to buy one.
I own a 2020. Did a Velocity tune and lowering springs. Cost me 8 grand. I wouldn’t trade it for a 2025 model and its extreme price. I’ll keep the gen 1 model
It's amazing they manage to make a TT engine sound that good in this age where turbo engines have no sound (new M5 and F80), they're doing an incredible job
It is far too much for the road! Take anM3 competition X drive: Under half the price, about half a second quicker to the speed limit in the dry, and a lot quicker all round in the wet. No messing with loads of settings every time you go out M1&M2! Five good comfortable seats and a large boot. Harry, have I completely missed something?
AML share price down _another_ 40% since Feb '24. It's now worth only 1/6 of Lucid's market cap. Even someone with the money to buy one of these must have _some_ worries about what happens _if_ the Saudis close their wallets and the financing dries up. At least you know with Ferrari they'll be around for decades to come to cane you on replacement spare parts :)
S. Cal does not have thousands of miles of two lane roads...I used to drive from San Juan Cap to Lake Elsinore & it was fun in my MR-2
5 годин тому+1
I think the size, width, is imposing and creates a certain tension in driving. Harry's comments are particularly arresting, and diminishing, the extras, costs, the miniscule speedometer gauge, all in all the criticisms outweigh the praises. The car looks great, sounds great, but overall ends up in the loser collum. Fantastic review as always.
I like the review more than I like the car. Dreadful shouty colour, dreadful controls/screens, and greedy pricing. Not that I'll ever afford such a vehicle, but this is not an Aston Martin to me.
I work as a test driver and we had a few DB12's in due to the electronic suit not working sine they switched from Mercedes. I did a, 200 mile road trip in one lovely but the electrics were poor especially the touch screens. I believe they have worked very hard to resolve the issues highlighted.
All cars depreciate save the top 2% of collectors cars. If your buying a car like this and thinking about how much money it’s losing each day, you bought it for the wrong reasons lol
Harry I do love your car reviews, that new Aston is a lovely looking car, but that interior I just don't like that dash, what I do not understand is why car makers in 2020's have to have a touch screen personal peeve.. too many settings to mess with, and just why do they not have a proper manual gearbox, as an owner you spend your time driving the car looking at the dash, not looking at it in the driveway, however good it looks, so that dash and consul is just way too intrusive and overpowering for me, even if I could afford one (unlikely tbh) I most likely wouldn't buy one because of that, when car makers can give us cars like this but with old school values, like less tech, less touch screens, less stuff to mess with, I think they would be on to a winner, I mean just who is going to spend that kind of money and take it to a track, it really doesn't need a track mode, that car is going to spend most of it's time tootling around Chelsea or Mayfair, or some place in the UAE, its never going to see Brands Hatch or the Nürburgring.
Glad to see a proper V8 in ASTON, Aston Martin lately as the company is bringing really great cars out to the market, this Vantage is just gorgeous, love what they have done :) Wondering how it's compared to the new Porsche 911 GTS? Harry great video :)
I 100% lost interest at the small dials, the gear selector made it worse, then the view out (never liked that in Astons) and the final nails in the coffin having to turn all the safety nonsense off one by one and the thing you didn't mention, the awful fake engine noise through the speakers. I couldn't live with this car, the interior is a mess, don't care how quick it is when it's so nasty inside. Thanks for testing so we don't have to waste our time dreaming. Another valuable public information announcement by Mr Metcalf 👍🏻 👏🏻
Love the colour! A very pretty car overall. I wonder how long it would take James Bond to work through the owners manual and screen settings before chasing down the next evil arch enemy? Traction off or on Mr Bond?
I must say I liked better the looks of the old model, the small lights front. With those lights front looked slimmer, thinner and somehow more special, this front looks too much like any other Aston. Great video as always Harry👍🏻👍🏻
What is the matter with car interior designers? Is it just Aston? They don't seem to have a clue. It would take an hour of use to go through a check list of half a dozen easily rectified items to up the experience significantly. Perhaps Aston don't care.
50k for those options 😱 absurd. I bet you wont get a fraction of that back come resale compared to a car without them. No physical dials is a big disappointment. I’d take an older v8 vantage or v12, and you avoid all the nanny controls to turn off as a bonus
The best Aston Martin you can buy today is the Roma. With Reichman producing more sales disasters Aston went down the route of adding more power and making the cars more extreme, not beautiful as the customers so desired. That's why the DBX quickly was followed by the 707 version, but now that those wanting the most powerful and quickest ways to make your dogs in the back sick have been satisfied the sales of DBX have once agains dropped of a cliff. The refreshes will give them a little boost in sales, probably, but only when Aston finds a competent designer and start producing cars people lust after again will they secure their future. Until then it's just a matter of time until there's another rescue package for the company. Those who spent £19 a share on the IPO must be crying with the value in the pennies.
Looks very busy on the road, and the instruments and infotainment maybe not as available as you’d wish for relaxed cruising and Aston. I was thinking they should’ve made a sporty mid engined car just before you stated the same, leaving the Vantage to be less wound up. Looks gorgeous though, but when you showed the AMG car I kinda thought maybe that’s the Aston I’d want?
You can kill me if you want, but I like the looks of the previous one more😂specially that AMR with three pedals. I think DB11>DB12 too. DB12 without V12? Nope, thank you. I don't really need that many horses in a Vantage either.
It is absolutely crazy how cars today can have a list price of a $100k, and then be “spec-up” to $150k. Just waiting on the day when we have to pay extra for wheels or brakes. Bloody ridiculous!

Welcome! I’ve been following Harry since the ‘90s! He’s the founder of evo magazine.
First time I’ve heard Demuro talk sense.
Welcome to Harry’s garage! Been here since the Evo days.
Harry thinks like an owner who has to spend his own money and live with his choices...as opposed to a journalist...who's invariably driving a car he/she can't afford, will never own and has a vested interest in giving a good review so as to remain on the manufacturer's invitation list.
Very astute comment. Exactly right
Agree. That's his good thinking.
Between this channel, Harris and Catchpole, we've got it pretty good these days. Just need to get May to do more cars and less gin and we'll be sorted.
May dies seem to have taken to the product.
He does far too much gin, apparently.
Don’t forget Hammond putting out good stuff!
You're aggressively British aren't you?
May doesn't actually like cars.
Best reviews on YT. Always seem to capture the essence of the car.
The design is really outstanding. Of course Harry communicates his oppinions, thats the reason for his channel. “Tech” has ruined cars but humans like being promised convenience and newness.
I can dig it all but at 59 yes I am going to go with something vintage every day if I have to pick one way to go. I love his Espada for example.
I like how open minded you are
Your the best car reviewer Harry
Always great to get a review from Harry - an honest opinion you can trust! 👍
I do like how you get to"get it out on the road and see how it drives" as quickly as you can.
Looks fantastic.
Noticed the Mercedes star on the turbo heat shields…
AMG developed engine…Mercedes owns AMG
No biggie in my opinion. Expecting a small independent company like AM to develop their own engines in-house would be a crazy demand with regs as they are these days

"one nice thing on here, it's a practical car..." oh yeah, I can just picture Harry stuffing an IKEA set of shelves in that boot 🤣
Aston line-up makes more sense now to me - not so much Vantage the baby to the DB, but the sporty option versus the GT of the DB.
Harry, I like your videos and sometimes I even like the cars, but the videos always get to the core of the cars.
In 3 years this Vantage will be under $100k, minimum. Pre-owned previous generation Vantages are now selling at $35k. @@MichaelPunishedthat's great to hear. Though I do think the value of the previous model will crash as this is a 200% upgrade
Thanks Harry, you're a legend! Cheers from the Land Down Under
Regarding all that ridiculous pre-start faff, "it's just what we have to do now..." Actually, we don't.
It's a good-looking car. I sense it leans more towards sport than comfort. That might be deliberate so as not to step on the DB12's toes. I think there should be two basic packages, tour and sport.
Harry did his best to be polite to a car he doesn't really rate that much. Kudos.
i think the vantage might be the nicest of the new production astons. i think the db9 might be my all time favorite though
Good looking car but the interior screens and buttons looks terrible
The elegance has left these cars. It just looks like a load of plastic.
Wonderfull stuff!!! Keep it coming!
“It’s orange” Jeremy Clarkson

That silver DB12 (featured briefly) is beautiful.
I feel the pain for those poor souls having to decide which option boxes to tick.
Love the way the new vantage drives, has character a brute in a suit , amazing car, your right now a ferrari competitor 👌
Now you’ve got used to your 650S, I think you’re going to struggle to find a car with the same ride/handling balance on those Cotswolds roads.
I think it's a cool car. More muscley than sporty really, but I think it looks fantastic and I like it's a bit of a hooligan "Grab it by the scruff of the neck" kind of car. Thanks again for a great review as always Harry! 😊👍
looks sweet af
Interesting car and a great summary. I feel it would’ve been better if this car recognised it’d be much better as a gentleman’s super-Grand Tourer rather than try to be a de-tuned track car, which doesn’t really sit well with.
I have been waiting for a proper real world test in the bendies and the German Autobahns with Astons Vantage, AMG GT and Porsche 911 GT finest.
Another great review Harry, thanks. It's a great car, but why do all new cars look fat and bloated? I'd rather live with your Espada or XJC. :)
That car fights the road rather than embracing it.
Great review thanks 😊
I see a lot of One-77 in this ... and I love it!
The back end is a carbuncle. Astons should be clean, elegant, die cast

It’s so wide.. cant imagine hooning that around country lanes without the fear of unavoidable potholes
Just like 911s.
Stunning, would definitely prefer a frozen silver or light grey to see the lines better ❤
"You can't open the boot from the outside". Just like my 1996 Fiat Barchetta.
@1:55 WTF is designed 'pacifically' for the Aston Martin Vantage...🤣🤣🤣
Nice one Harry...! Love it...!
AML share price down _another_ 40% since Feb '24. It's now worth only 1/6 of Lucid's market cap. Lucid???
Although I get your point, you should at least choose an automobile maker of relevance in your poor comparison.
3:20 "It's a practical car. You can't open the boot from outside". Proceeds to open the door and push a button inside to open the boot. Practical????
Sounds like it would be a teeth rattling experience on the terrible roads we have in Southern California.
S. Cal does not have thousands of miles of two lane roads...I used to drive from San Juan Cap to Lake Elsinore & it was fun in my MR-2
Lovely car
I work as a test driver and we had a few DB12's in due to the electronic suit not working sine they switched from Mercedes. I did a, 200 mile road trip in one lovely but the electrics were poor especially the touch screens. I believe they have worked very hard to resolve the issues highlighted.
These are cars for the .02% of car owners and despite the high price they are no more reliable than a VW Polo
Dont think I could sleep knowing how much it's deprecates Every morning when you wake up you lost a few thousand pounds before you had coffee .. 😊.
All cars depreciate save the top 2% of collectors cars. If your buying a car like this and thinking about how much money it’s losing each day, you bought it for the wrong reasons lol

I agree with Harry, very nice overrall design but the side mirrors look a bit weird.
Pictures don't do this car justice, in the metal ,or Carbon, it looks incredible!
I hope you drive the new Vanquish
What a beautiful thing.
Glad to see a proper V8 in ASTON, Aston Martin lately as the company is bringing really great cars out to the market, this Vantage is just gorgeous, love what they have done :)
Wondering how it's compared to the new Porsche 911 GTS?

Aston have rediscovered how to make a good looking coupe!
Wow! Fantastic performance. Those figures catapult this supercar into Hyundai Ioniq 5n territory! 😌
Love the colour! A very pretty car overall. I wonder how long it would take James Bond to work through the owners manual and screen settings before chasing down the next evil arch enemy? Traction off or on Mr Bond?
Lovely car, intruments look a bit cheap. I hope manufacturers spec proper rev counters in the future.
At least there are physical buttons for climate etc
I love the car but, in Trumptastic Tangerine? Nope!
I must say I liked better the looks of the old model, the small lights front. With those lights front looked slimmer, thinner and somehow more special, this front looks too much like any other Aston.
Great video as always Harry👍🏻👍🏻
Happy to know it’s not just me……
I’m happy with my 2009 SL63 AMG!
Mighty car, love it
OMG, it looks like Harry is back to work. Whew
Great vid!!! 👍😊👊💥
Aston Martin design the best-looking cars...
likes Harry's video before even watching
This car is one of the best looking cars on sale right now.
What is the matter with car interior designers? Is it just Aston? They don't seem to have a clue. It would take an hour of use to go through a check list of half a dozen easily rectified items to up the experience significantly. Perhaps Aston don't care.
Feels like it should be badged Vanquish S from the get-go
Nice Panerai!

Love The Vantage but those wheels are horrendous doublendis.
It looks SO much better than the pre-facelift
Good Harry, good!
