Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
Great review. I have this real. I just today ordered the XP. I have used Lews for about 15 years, great dependably. Keep you videos coming.
Finally retired my OG LFS (a 2014 model) and replaced it with a 2019 model. The OG still works like the day I bought it. I like how you call it the gate keeper for $99 reels. That's so true. Awesome review bud.
This thing has definitely proven itself! I really want to try the 2019 version. I'll have to keep my eyes out for a sale. The LFS really is what I use to judge other reels at this price point. Thanks a lot for checking out my vid, Alex 👊
Just bought the new model today for my 7’3” Fitzgerald heavy frog rod. Bout to spool some 50lb PowerPro braid on it and go to the yard and get familiar. Great review and video btw, I done a lot of research before purchasing it today and just about everyone has the same opinion you do. Thanks for the review.
I don't own one (yet) but I used my brother's a few weeks ago. I usually fish with my spinning reel but I didn't have it with me. He handed one of his rigs to me with this reel. I was really dreading it since I hadn't used a baitcaster is a LONG time. Shockingly, I really liked it! I'm now checking out the videos for it to make sure it's a good as it seemed to be. Thanks for the review!
Good review. I have 3 Lew's SSs (newer versions) and 1 I bought used (older version) and all work well. Good casting distance. Seem durable.
I love seeing all these comments about Lew's standing the test of time💯 you win if you Lew's✊
It hasn't let me down in all these years. They make great reels. Thanks for watching man 👊
they do make really good reels and the less pricey ones are awesome quality. Another great quality inexpensive reel is the daiwa cc80
I just bought my Lew's Speed Spool LFS 6.8:1 MCS Under $100 and I love it. This thing casts a mile, even farther than my Shimano DC SLX. I paired it with a Temple Fork Outfitters 7'3" H fast action rod and it's great for my top water and heavier lures 1 1/2-2 oz. Thanks for the recommendation Debo. My only complaint are the handles I am changing the handle knobs to bigger ones.
Looking at two of them right now for about $45 each. You have made my decision on getting one, they are the new version, 6.8 with 15lbs of drag. I love all of my Lew’s baitcasters. Thanks Debo for the info.
The LFS has been a great reel for me!
I like my LFS, I bought mine in 2019 so it’s the upgraded model with 15 lbs drag and it’s a great reel. Catches fish just as good as my Curado DC. Great job highlighting the LFS.
Nice! I really want to try the new version. Lew's has some cool reels coming out.
I've got a speed spool that's I think 3 or maybe 4 years old and I still fish it . It's been the longest lasting reel I've ever bought plus I've never taken it apart to clean it I've only wiped down the outside and around the spool . In my book it's well worth every penny 👍🏼
Heck yea, that's a good investment 8n m6 book too! Thanks for watching man!
Awesome! Definitely considering this as my first baitcaster! Thanks for the review👍🏼
It's a very solid option. Mine hasn't ever let me down. Thanks for watching!
I agree with you Debo regarding the click on the spool tension knob. More novelty than necessary functionality. What I wanna hear is fishing pulling drag!! You rock.🤙🤙
Lews has that on some of their reels.
Yea, I understand why some people like it. I just don't feel it's worth the extra money. If it come that way with other upgrades, then I'll take it. Not a dealbreaker for me though. Thanks for watching man.
I brought the latest Lew's LFS late last year, and was immediately very happy with it. The ease of adjusting really helps when conditions change fast, and it's definitely a great casting reel. I also believe you can get a finer spool tension adjustment without the clicks. It's new in my line up, so I haven't fished it a lot yet, but it will definitely see duty as my weightless senko reel, and other soft plastics. So far it does what I want it too, and is good at it. Does not feel like a cheap reel, and definitely does not perform like one.
That's awesome to hear. I'd really like to test the new version to see if there is a big difference. It's a great reel for the price. Especially if you can find it on sale for less! Thanks for watching man 👊
Never bought the $100 Speed Spool. But in June of 2016, I bought 2 of each of the following from Lew's: 2 Tournament Pro G's, 2 Super Duty's, and two BB1 Pro's. Love em all, and have them in various gear ratios. But I love the Pro G so much, I have since bought 2 more of em about a year later. To this day, all 8 reels work excellent, and never had a single problem or issue yet. I only oil & lightly clean them once to twice a year. I only remove the spools for maintenance, I never tear them completely down. But I did make a really cool discovery: Ya hear some guys complain about "the sound" the reels make during the cast on the ones equipped with the exterior centrifugal brakes ( the original Pro G and BB1 Pro ) When one of mine started making that sound, I simply added a drop or 2 of oil to the brass race, and WOW.......you better be sure to tighten the brakes and/or spool tensioner knob a little TOO tight on purpose, before ya make the very first test cast after oiling the race.....to avoid a major backlash, because you just turned these reels with that braking system into an absolute hot rod by adding that oil, and yes it does quiet them right down & lasts for 5 to 7 all-day fishing trips. The next 2 or 3 casts is all it takes to slowly back off the brakes and/or spool tensioner knob, and ALL of my reels ( except my 2 Super Duty's, because they're magnetic only ) cast MUCH further with that added oil to the race. Been doing it ever since. I'm a die-hard trophy bass fishermen who started here in central Florida back in 1969. I've owned quite a few top shelf models in different brands of reels over the years, mainly Shimano. ( I was always wanted the original classic BB1 Speed Spools back in the 70's, they were the best at the time, but I simply couldn't afford them. ) I can now honestly say that all of my Lew's in the 3 models I have, are hands down the best performing & most durable reels I've ever owned. And I fish more today than ever before, mainly at our famed trophy bass fishery called the Stick Marsh/Farm 13. I love these reels so much, I don't even wanna try anything else........not even the newer or pricier versions from Lew's...........NO NEED TO. Not for now anyway.
Great review Debo. I don't own a Lew's rod/reel, but it appears I will very soon. I started with an Abu Black Max, but it has seen better days. Time to replace it with the LFS. Thanks again. 😷🤘
Just ordered 2 this morning. Watched your video this evening. Sounds like I made a good decision
They have been an solid workhorse for me. Let me know how you like them!
Been looking at this one. I appreciate your reviews regardless
I appreciate you watching my reviews. I have fun doing them. Have a good weekend!
I’ve got 3 of these reels in different gear ratios and I love em’!! I think the best thing that could be said about them is Lews stands behind them . After 2 years I sent them to Lews because they just felt “off” and Lews replaced all the guts and returned them to me , no charge. Tough to beat a company that stands behind their product
Got one for a steal and have a feeling I will be doing the same
Great video Debo! also I just noticed you're at 10k subs, so congrats!
Thanks for watching. Yea, completely blown away by the support of folks. Have a good weekend!
Great video my man. I just bought one today. Can’t wait to give it a toss
i saw one at academy and was impressed with it, came home, thought about it, watched this vid and then i got it today on sale for $56. got home and spooled it up with some yozuri 12lb and on the first cast i caught a 2lber.
thanks for the review 😏👍
Nice! That's the way to break a reel in!
How far can it cast.
Just purchased the 2019 model. Wanted something for casting lighter weight lures than my daiwa millionaire could cast. Can't wait to test it on my sprinker frog lure. Spooled it with 30# braid.
I have the same one and since day 1 i wont let anyone use it or touch it. Love the reel to death. Nice good reel. Great video
Agreed, tough little $100 workhorse!
Seems like a nice little reel. Good and thorough breakdown as always. :)
Thanks for always supporting, Chris! Have a great weekend!
Likewise my friend!
I have 5 reels. All Lews. Over the last 40 years I have used many brands and models in the 100 to 150 dollar class. I most likely will never buy anything but Lews in the future. They have served me very well.
They do make great reels at this price point. I'm definitely happy with the Lew's reels that I've used!
Great video! I own 5 of these LFS reels. Zero issues. I also lock my drag down all the way. Lews is a great company. Customer service is the best. Great upper entry range reel. I think this reel is worth more money than they are charging. Great review, hit all the points I look at in a reel! Great job as usual.
Thanks for watching, Bryce! I like these reels a lot too. Lew's makes good stuff!
Really like this reel! Bought 7 of these to replace my slow quantums that won't cast as far. Two of those are 8.3:1 for pitchin and topwater.
I got one of these recently and I love it
Best reel for $100 around. I own 4, 2 are 3 years old and are still going strong. Such a good reel.
Mine has performed well over the past few years too!
I love all of my Lews reels. Never a problem with them.
I just picked up the newer lfs about 2 weeks ago so ive been looking around the tube and decided to rewatch this and i gotta say from your lfs to this new one it definitely has some changes like on the magnetic brakes where yours is worn off it does have nicely readable numbers on it the handle is 95mm now and it has a nice black finish to it and now the frame is made from a one piece aluminum frame but i havnt fished with it yet im in pa and ya were frozen here but i took it out in the yard and man very impressed with it it almost sounds like a dc reel has this little noice when ya cast it it dont sound like a bad noise or anything lol but cant wait to get it out this spring
Nice! I'd like to try a new one! Thanks for watching man 👊
I have two of the Lewis Mach 2 reels and I really enjoy them.
Yessir, the speed spool LFS is a good reel. Thanks for watching!
Great video Debo love some lews reels
Thanks man, appreciate you watching! They do make some good reels!
I've had a Lews LFS speed spool from......er.....2013....I think. That thing is going on 6+ years old and it is my most fished reel. with a simple cleaning each year and some basic cleanup if I get it dirty while fishing, that thing is still running silky smooth :) I trust lews for sure, and when I retire my LFS I will get be picking up the new LFS for sure! Great video! I agree that its the "gatekeeper" of the $99 bait casters and I would say its pretty hard for anything else to get through that gate ;)
It has been a dang good reel for me too. I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone. Thanks for watching man!
@@DEBOSFishing :)
I bought 2 of them last year and they have been great I use one if them on my frog rod.
Yea, I agree. They have been good reels and I'm happy with all of my Lew's products too!
Another great video by the man himself DEBO
Appreciate it brother 👊
My second favorite reel behind my Lew’s Tournament MB. Great review and loved the ghost in the darkness reference
Yessir, I've heard the tournament MB is a good reel too. Yessir, that's an old good movie. Appreciate you watching my man!
O yes lovely video Debo thanks 👌
I used to throw the LFS on a few rods.. it is awesome.. best at the price point.
Agreed. A simple but good feeling reel. Did you feed the reel to that Osprey 😂😜
Just bought one today at the 8.3 ratio. Feels like a tank and can't wait to get it on the boat. I
I've been using it's cousin, the Lew's LFS Inshore for about 18 months. Super nice format and only marginally more expensive for additional drainage, corrosion resistance and 14# drag. It's been great for topwater plugging and casting suspending twitch baits. I think the newer edition bumps the drag to near 20#.
I don't like the handle/knob as much as the softer combat style Lew's handles, but the reel is tough as nails and spent a year on the rail of my kayak in saltwater getting wet regularly. It's a great design.
I just purchased their Custom Inshore model, and while it appears to be better at tossing things down to a 1/4oz, which is what I bought it to target, having paid a significant amount more for the Custom, it really shows how much value the LFS line has for durability at the price point.
Absolutely, the reel is solid all around. I love those large foam winn grips. Arguably best handles on the market. I've not used the inshore model. Thanks for watching man!
Just got this in December on recommendation of Alex Rudd. I only threw it a few times from the bank until we got iced over, but man is it smooth. I'm not a beginner (though I still suck) but you are right, this is a great reel for a beginner...practically fool proof. I'm running straight braid PowerPro 30 on it and it's awesome. Thanks for the great vid and for vindicating my purchase. Hope for some global warming so I can get back out there.
Yea man, Alex seems like a great dude. Would be awesome to meet him someday. I definitely like the reel. Yea, I'm ready for this winter junk to leave!
I owned a lew's once a very long time ago had no issues with it but for some reason it never sparked my interest much ,but who knows I might try one again some time
I have had good luck with all of mine. I'm definitely a fan of their reels!
Just picked up a Lew’s SS LFS. First baitcaster in an embarrassingly long time and it’s, well, amazing. Feels like aluminum in hand, not plastic, BTW ;)
Have one. Love it.
Agreed, workhorse of a reel man! Thanks for watching!
Clicked on this review to check out what your thoughts are on this reel. I just picked up 2 of the 2019 models on sale at Bass Pro Shops during their Fishing Classic which ended March 3rd. This is the first fishing purchase I’ve made in over 20 years - as I’ve been sporting my very old Diawa reels and Zebco rods; haha! Talk about old school. I wanted to update my equipment since I’m just now getting back into bass fishing which was an integral part of my childhood and pastime with my dad. I have a son that I’ll be taking along with me and passing on the “healthy addiction.”
So it seems I’m in for a pleasant surprise - good to know! I paired a 5.6:1 to a 6’8” Lews Custom Speedstick Topwater Special ML Fast; hoping it’ll be good for topwater and light crankbaits. The other is a 7.5:1 paired with a 7’3” Lews Custom Speedstick Magnum Hammer MH Fast; hoping it’ll be good for jigs and some plastic work.
Thanks for the thorough review! Tight lines..Subbed
First, thanks for the support and becoming a #verifiedfeeshinfriend. Second, keep me up to date on how you like the new model. I know I'll break down and get one hahah. Heck yea, fishing memories with pops are never forgotten. I've got a lot and your son will too. Have a good weekend man!
DEBO'S Fishing - thanks for the reply! My son and I got out today for a couple hours..I will surely come back and let you know what I think of them when I’ve casted a few thousand yards.. 👌🏼🎣
Hey Debo great videos! found your channel and subscribed. I just bought my first baitcaster to try my hand at it. I was wondering if you knew anything about the Lew's carbon blue gt combo? any major difference in the reel to the speed spool reviewed here? they look similar, but I paid 100$ for the combo so I'm guessing there is a big difference somewhere.
As a Plastic Engineering student, Plastic isn't bad when you use it how its supposed to be used. Can you expect it to perform like most metals? definitely not. But its very light, and has exceptional impact resistance. Lots of people seem to think plastic is bad, but its an engineering miracle material. If I were to fork over 200$ for a reel would I want it to be made out of plastic? it would definitely depend on what plastic (hundreds of thousands of different plastics out there) it is made out of, but probably not. For a 60-100 dollar reel, I would expect some very decent engineering grade plastics. 200$ or more, expect high quality machined metals or specialty materials. Though, everything in sports usually has an inflated price, So you may not see completely honest prices compared to how low the price could really be.
Yea, I understand that. At the $100 price point I feel like the aluminum frame is a must. Like you said, there is a definite mark up.
Thank you for the video just bought 2 new ones they were on sale at bass pro $69 apiece I think that the 2019
Nice! That's a great deal on those!
Good stuff man! 👍
Thanks a lot for watching man!
I've got the tournament pro. Verry nice!!!!!
Nice! My buddy gave me that one to use. Very nice reel!
I think a while back you did a review on the shimano Slx. And I said I thought the LFS was the best $100 reel. It just works.
Yep, the LFS is a super solid reel. Been very happy with mine!
I've got a lfs thats been my braid/froggin reel for a while. Been solid for me with no issues. I will say that 4 of those 10 bearings are in the grips lol. I changed to the flat Winn grips that Lews offers.
Yea, I don't pay attention the the number of bearings but ppl ask. It matters about the quality and placement of the bearings. Thanks for watching man!
Great video! I was planning to order abu black max as my first baitcasting reel but now I got a coupon $75 for this LFS, do you think it is a good deal compare to blackmax?
Lee’s are bulletproof. Used to be a Quantum guy but had more issues then I can count. No issues with Lew’s
Just picked one up today, I'll be trying it out first thing in the morning. I really dont expect it to impress me more than my SLX but I hope im wrong and it really is 'THE GATEKEEPER'! haha great review man👍👊
How did it go for you?
@@masondang1502 honestly I was more impressed than I expected to be, it seems to cast a little further but it doesnt feel quite as smooth as the slx when reeling, it does cast smooth though. I carry several rods though and only fished half the day so it hasnt got much use yet. It's basically equal with the slx as far as how it feels in hand. Need to use it more to form a real oppinion though honestly but from the little I have used it I'm impressed so far. At this point I'd still go for the slx if I was gonna buy another, I really only got the lews because it's the same price and is about the only baitcaster that isnt sold out around here.
Fish_ Foto I see because I’m in the process of buying a baitcaster but I thought to my self i might as well get the Slx dc but I really like the lews because my cousin has one that I’ve used
@@masondang1502 if you have the money I'd go for the Slx DC personally, I havnt used it but that's gotta be a sweet reel.
Wow great review
Thank you, appreciate you watching!
Great video Debo once again. I'm still debating between Lew's And Abu. I still have a bunch of my KK stuff but this year being my first year on the tournament scene and so unsure if they can hold up. But the more and more I watch the MLF and see the amount of guys rocking Abu's and making me lean more and more that way. I have had a few Lew's but so dang hard to choose anymore lol. Lew's ? Abu ? where do I go lol
Jason Beck Fishing imo, Lews all day. Love em. The BEST customer service too
@@hc_gabe4078 yeah I have been reading up on that as well. I had won one and wished i had kept it now. Thinking really hard about letting my Kastking stuff go or wait it out to next winter and get stuff here and there throughout
Jason Beck Fishing I would go with the latter.... don’t blow all your money right before the season. Pick up some better quality stuff through out the season. Imo, pretty much any reel/rod at abt $80-$100 will be better than a KastKing. Just not a fan. If you want to keep your budget on the lower side and build up an arsenal, just go on eBay and pick up some Fuegos for $65. That’s a steal.
Yea, I hear ya. Academy and Ebay are great for getting them on sale. You don't have to do it all at once either. The fuegos are great, the speed spool is good too. You can also get a lot of the previous generation of abu reels (gen 3) really cheap now! Hope this helps brother👊
@@jasonbeckfishing like Debo said, back just before Christmas this was $69. Both are great companies, Abu being the main Pure Fishing reel set. Lew's will bend over backwards to make stuff right and have never had a problem dealing with them whether it was a clearance $15 combo, up to the ProTi. Never even really had issues, but the Crush I got as a combo for the IM8 rod, so since no box it had no oil like the reel by itself. Called and they express shipped a bottle for free just because I called and asked if I could buy some. When you start moving up to the higher end rods, you have a lifetime warranty as well. Either or will have amazing reels though.
awsome Lew's tell me what do you think of the piscifun torrent reel I have one and love it so far
You mentioned the movie ' The ghost and the darkness ' that was a true story FYI it's one of those must watch movies
It certainly is. I got to see them. They're known as the Tsavo man eaters. They are currently in the Field Museum in Chicago Illinois. Only a 4hr drive for me. Awesome museum if you get the chance to go.
dope reference.
First time I’ve ever heard that movie referenced...very underrated. A little known Val Kilmer performance that was off the charts was The Saltom Sea-awesome flick
What size braid are you using on you frog rig. I’m thinking of of going to braid on my Friday, Jig and worm rod / reel.
I bought one first year came out I have beat the snot out of it cast great and still as smooth as the day I bought it..
Mine is still kicking too! It has been a darn good reel for me!
Hey Debo those Lew's reels are absolute work horse's I have cought a lot of big pike on them l have expensive reels to but I always seem to have them in my hand and they cast so easy for the price unbeatable 👍👊
The LFS has been a very dependable reel for me!
I have the new ss and I love it
Nice! I'd really like to try the new model to compare. Thanks for watching man!
Getting me a lews crush hope it's what people say it is.
I've always wanted to try a lews reel. Have you heard anyone using them in the salt? Really enjoy your videos Debo!
They make great reels. They have an inshore version and I know people like it. I'm no help in advising salt gear, never fished it lol. Thanks for watching man!
We use them quite a bit in the salt here in texas. The bearings hold up if you clean your gear regularly, it's the antireverse that tends to corrode first. I have 2 lfs reels that I use on my kayak in the salt
Just bought this reel, 2018 ver., as a combo with the HM30 Speed Stick. On sale $99.
This is my first bait caster. Wish me luck. 😬
Oh god, the “Spool of backlashes” goodluck with it! Theyre finkiy “lemons”
Solid review, brother! I agree with you on the tension knob...more control with a non click. I've never owned that particular reel, but with the reels I have owned at that price point I really like the Bass Pro Pro Qualifier...at one point it was all I used...love it! I tell guys if they have a 100 to spend on a reel to save up another 30 bucks and get a Tatula CT...that reel is bad to the bone for the price. 👊💪
Thanks for watching brother 👊 I have never used any of the BPS reels. However, I see that they are having the big sale. I believe the pro qualifier is on sale for $50 and the Johnny Morris Carbonlite is $85? I was thinking of picking up one. Yea, I've got a fuego, definitely need to try the tatula CT. Thanks for the feedback!
I have the 15' model... Its been lasting for me. The draw back is the drag for me. I locked it down but it's still peeling away....but then again... I'm talking about Salmon fishing with it. For bass, the 10lbs drag maybe perfect.
Yea, I haven't tackled any huge salmon or anything. It has been great for bass but huge salmon are another category. As long as the hookset doesn't slip, I'd think you want the drag to peel for those things. Thanks for watching man!
@@DEBOSFishing Peeling is good... just not good when you need to turn them, your line and rod can handle it but you can't do anything about it but watch the fish pull 100 yards of line. haha.
Well, there is the possibility of using my thumb but, we all know, now we are dancing between a fine line of breaking the line... ah, the beauty of fishing!
@@johndoe-pb4mv yea, those are not fish that I have experience with. I'd throw my muskie reel at them lol
New model I believe is 22 pounds
@@zacpdx the new Lew's speed spool LFS has 15# of drag.
Hey Debo,
Cool video as usual bud!
Are you going to put a Revo X in this tourney? Can't have any kind of fishing related tournament without Abu Garcia being in there!
All kidding aside, I would really love to know where you think the Revo X ranks with those reels?
If you haven't checked Abu Garcia out you may want to sometime. They are pretty sweet little tanks. To me they are a little bit on the heavy side but not enough to keep me from having more of them on my rods than any other brand. Lol
I do have a Revo x! It will be coming up soon. Sadly none of the catches with it are on camera. Only got to use it a few weeks before the weather went all winter and such on me lol
@@DEBOSFishing awesome, looking forward to it!
I hear ya' on winter rudely interrupting our feeshing!
#BattleoftheBaitcasters #isitspringyet
The problem with Abu is they have been making them really cheap. They have parts that will break on them. But the performance is superb. But if I was going to go with Abu. I would just get a pfluger.
@@danielbeavers8701 I've never used a pfluger baitcaster. I've had good luck with the abus I picked up.
Tried out my quantum pt smoke s3 has 25 lbs of drag but lews is also a good starter's reel also make good rods for a decent price which is what to look for
Yeah, the LFS is arguably one of the best starter reels out there. I agree, something durable and cost effective!
The LFS is a solid reliable reel I have one that I still use but Ive upgraded to Shimano DC reels. Ive never understood the clicking tension knob either. Why not adjust the brakes instead of the tension? I throw everything with side to side play eliminated and thats it. Maybe they are people who are new to baitcasters?
Got a Mach Crush this week....just have to wait for that 4 feet of snow to melt to try it
I have two I love them
I got one of the Mach Crush it’s a great reel
Hahah yea, this winter stuff needs to be done. My buddy let me borrow his. I need to get a review out on it too! Thanks for watching!
Just ordered one through sportsman’s outfitters $74 after discount code and it’s a lefty!!!!
Discount?!
What’s the lowest weight you can cast with? Any of the lews range go really low? 2-5 grams?
out of the $100 range, but have you tried bass pro shop johnny morris signature series baitcast reels? that carbonlite 2.0 combo in a 6'6'' 7-5-1 looks ideal for $200. noticed you have an orange crush which is same tier as carbonlite combo. i'd have to scrub your channel for earlier vids, not sure if you have a beginner vs mid to premium compare or reels or combos.
How is this reel vs the fuego ct? I'm deciding between the 2. I have the tatula ct and love it
Take this reel
I don't own a Lews baitcaster, but I always thought they felt good. I do have a couple of old school Lews spinning reels which are $$$.
I just picked up a Okuma Helios Air baitcaster for $109 on closeout. It's was a $249 msrp. magnesium frame reel with abec 5 bearings. Weighs less than 6 ounces. When the water warms above 38 degrees and I stop shoveling snow 4 hours a day I might throw it! 😂😱😰
Dang! That's a steal for that reel. I haven't used any okuma reels. Yea, this winter stuff puts a damper on fishing lol.
I just got a 7.5:1 and an 8.3:1 Tournament MB. Finally making the switch from that other company that starts with a “k” ends with a “g” they are getting a little big for their britches
I've heard that the tournament MB is a great reel. Thanks for watching man!
Debo like your review just got two for 25 each😬👍🏽🎣
I just bought new lews love it and have abu sx was my main untill i bought that lews now just yesterday the abu stopped working good thing i bought that lews kinda thinking instead fixing the abu i might just get another lews to replace my back up
I think both companies make good reels. They're are a lot of good options at that $100 price point. What is your budget?
I spent double for a Lew’s Speed-Spool about ten years ago. Model TS1S Tournament model; it has dual braking; 14-pound drag holds 150 yards of 12-pound line and extended bowed handles. The handle, star drag and spool adjustment nob are highly polished. It weighs 8.3 ounces with 5.4:1 gears. I am still using it on a 7ft. 6-inch Bass Pro IM-6 medium-heavy CrankinStick. It is a great reel and is smooth as ever. However, it cost $200 dollars ten years ago. The LSF is half the price and only lacks a shiny finish, centrifugal braking and a slightly smaller crank. If these issues are worth spending another $100 dollars, you decide. Debo tested is good enough for me.
Nice, sounds like a a cool reel! Yea, this is a video I want to do regarding the step up in price vs. What you actually get. This has been a solid reel for me. I'd really like to try the new and improved version. Thanks for all the support on my vids 👊
hi, how does this coil not loop in quality and casting of wobblers?
I bought a used one and it makes that noise when I reel in how do I fix it ?
I personally don't own that reel but I do love lew's reels
It has been a darn good reel for me. Thanks for watching, Mel!
I need a Speed 🧵 Spool!!
The king of $99 reels.
I think it's a top choice man! Love mine! Thanks for watching 👊
Love that movie
It's an awesome movie!
I have this too I like it
I'm definitely a fan of the reel. Thanks for watching man!
I'm getting some fishing content now unboxings top-fives and stuff would love to get your opinion on channels
@@JohnAmes heck yea, get them up!
Just got 1 first time out i caught my pb 5.5lb bass with it.
The worm gear casing cylinder on the basic SLX can easily come loose. Spend the extra $30 and get the slx xt with dial on the outside too
Could you rate them 1-5 from 1 being the best at the 100 price point and 5 the least best
I just purchased the Lew’s LFS.
It’s my first bait caster reel. I watched 10/12 YT reviews before deciding. I watched your review on the Lew’s 3 times and made my decision. Thx for a well explained review.
Question.., I just took it out of the box and twirled the handle. I was expecting it to go around 7 to 9/10 times. It only went around 3 or 4 times. Is this normal? Or should it be a bit looser? If so.., Is there a way to loosen the handle?
Thank you
The LFS is SUPER smooth, but comes in the box with a pretty tight spool tension. Try loosening the spool tension (here is a vid that shows how ua-cam.com/video/sVpNclrNfUU/v-deo.html) that will take pressure off the spool and let it spin more. Hope this helped!
Thx T R..,
After a few minor adjustments it seemed to twirl a little easier.
I hv always had spinner reels and after a day of fishing I always ran the reel under warm water for a few minutes. Should I do the same with bait caster reel?
Thx Bud
@@alanp6773 I would recommend not washing the whole reel in warm water, bait casters tend to get less dirty from a days fishing due to the fact that they have less open moving parts then a spinning reel. What I usually do is just take off the side plate, pull out the spool (this is super easy and take like 5 sec) and then take a few dry Q-Tips and wipe off the edges where the spool contacts the body of the reel. Basically anywhere where a moving part contacts another just wipe out with a Q-tip ( this may sound complicated but it only take about 2 min) and that will keep your reel running very smooth. I also do a deep cleaning one a year were I take the reel fully apart and clean and re grease/oil all of it. You can do this at home ( here is a video on how: ua-cam.com/video/WCD_NfzWuvQ/v-deo.html) or you can take it to one of many places that will do it for you (bass pro shops is one). You only really need/want to do a deep cleaning around every 1-2 years depending on how much you fish. For the most part just wiping out the crevices and high friction areas of the reel with Q-tips will keep it running smooth. I have on of the older LFS speed spool and I've used it for about 6-7 years now just cleaning it the ways mentioned above and its still running like its brand new. Hope this helped!
Yep. Loosen the spool tension and make sure the magnetic brakes are turned down. The number of times it spins isn't really important. Just how well it feels when you are actually casting and retrieving a lure. Thanks for watching man!
Definitely helped. I would hv run it under warm water. Glad I asked and glad you answered. Thx TR
Just ordered this a few days ago off Amazon . It’s listed as up to 20lb of drag. Hope I’m not dissatisfied.heard a lot of good things about lews. This will be my first lews baitcaster as i own shimano and daiwa reels exclusively.
how is it?
@@fernandoseanez6697 it’s a really good reel. I still think shimano is superior but lews def has a place in my arsenal.
@@Lasurge1982 what shimano reel did you use?
@@fernandoseanez6697 shimano slx xt
I also own 2 shimano toriums for deep sea fishing and a shimano vanford 1000 for trout.
What size jig do you use the most?
3/8 or 1/2 oz depending on what they have available.
I love your channel man if your ever in ohio ive got some great ponds
Thanks man👊👊👊 I would love to travel and fish more. I've never been to Ohio!
Could you review the abu garcia revo sx thanks. Great video
I did get my hands on a couple of those!
@@DEBOSFishing thanks looking forward to it.
Mannnnn my daiwa Tatula CT and Fuego CT have ruined me to other reels. I tried using my Spartacus Plus today and I just went back to my daiwa set up
The fuego is a solid reel. I'd definitely like to try more of the Daiwa products. Thanks for watching man!
